CC&B 2.1 and Weblogic Windows Service

We've been using CC&B for almost a year now, and I've been looking at hardening the environment incase of failover. Currently, we are using the supplied scripts to start/stop the environment. This causes one problem for if the server reboots, or if the environment terminates, it requires a manual process to stop and start the environment. I've been looking for a clear way to setup Weblogic to run CC&B as a service, but I have been unable to do so. Since the supplied scripts setup all of the variables, and options needed in order to run CC&B, no one from our Oracle implimentation team had ever setup CC&B any differently. Are their any suggestions or resources available in order to accomplish this? We are currently using a seperate DB running Oracle and seperate app server running Weblogic 9.2, both running Windows 2003 R2. Thanks.

Well. What are you trying to harden?
The database or the app?
you refer to the app stopping. One option would be to deploy multiple apps on different servers and point them at the same database.
That would provide you with one less single point of failure.
In order to utilise the additional app, you'd need to use some load balancing tool to distribute your users between CC&B instances.
This could be done with a simple DNS round robin or you could deploy a commercial loadbalancing tool that would assign the next user to the least loaded environment.
It depends what you're trying to do.
For the database hardening aspect, you could always consider ORACLE dataguard to maintain a standby copy of your database and switch to that in the event of failure.
How far do you want to take this?
Do you want to harden your hardware, your app, your network too?

    Hi Naga,
Please refer to this article for the processes relevant to the Java Instance:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/62/1bf03eae11e16be10000000a114084/frameset.htm
Except the processes of the Java instance you can find several processes of the IGS server and the ABAP disp+work processes.
You can easily find the relevant services by their SAP prefix.
    Hope this helps.

  • Start and stop windows service for multiple remote computers

    Hello,
Can someone show me how to Start and Stop windows service for multiple remote computers using Command Prompt or PowerShell or even Java?
    Thank you

You asked a pure Windows related question at a pure Java related forum. We have advised you to look for a Windows related forum to post the question. Nothing special. It's like asking a car mechanican to help you with your migraine, he would advise you to look for a general practitioner.
But why are you so surprised and negative about this answer after all? Don't we have to help you? Don't you appreciate help? So be it then, but please stay away then if you keep this attitude.

  • Weblogic Windows service fails when aspectwerkz is added to configuration

    All,
I have been running weblogic as windows service successfully. Now, we are utilizing AOP from aspectwerkz. I added the necessary settings for aspectwerkz in the install script. After adding the changes, I am able to install the service. However, when I start the service it fails with the MMC error dialog box displaying:
'Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.'
I opened the Event viewer and checked the System events. I see an error which says:
'The beasvc med1d2_med1d2as01 service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action.'
Unfortunately, the info I get from MMC and event viewer doesn't really help in any way. I tried tweaking 'CMDLINE' and other stuff in the install script to no avail. I would appreciate any help.
    Infrastructure information:
    OS: Windows Server 2000
    App server: Weblogic 8.1 sp4
    JDK: Sun JDK 1.4.2 04
    Thanks in advance.

  • Build and deploy windows service

I want to build windows service application through build definition and deploy it through Release Management.
Build definition creates _PublishedWebsites and no exe is created.
I believe Create service component in Release Management requires path (BinPath) where exe is located.
How can I achieve this? Please guide.

    Hi N-SHAH,
I'd like to know whether you have build you windows service project successfully using TFS Build, and what's the version of TFS and Team Explorer(accompany with VS) you're using. If you cannot build the project successfully, please check the build
log. Make sure you can build before the deployment using Release Management. I use TFS 2013 Update 2 and have a try to build windows service project with TFS Build and it builds fine, the execution file can be generated normally.
When use Release Management for the deployment, you can create a Release template. Then set the build definition to the one that can build your project. And also configure path to package to point to drop location, add needed tools of "windows
service" to your release template to make it available for your deployment. Check this
page for more informatino about Release Management tools. And this
page for more info about Automate deployments with Release Management. And this
    link
might help for managing your release.
If you don't want to use Release Management, you can also use TFS Build to deploy your windows service project. Check this
link for more information. Or using MSBuild and then integrate with TFS Build to do the deployment,
    here
    is the related process.

  • Problem with SJAS EE 9.1 start and stop (Windows Service Mode)

    Hi
Thank you for reading my post
Sun Java application server enterprise edition 9.1 (SJAS EE 9.1+HADB) asks for admin password each time windows try to start it as windows service.
Also HADB asks for password on start.
Is there any way to make it automatic without requiring password?
    Thanks

You need to add a password.txt file to your app server path. See the section Security for Automatic Restarts in the administration guide for details.
You may also need to recreate the service to use the passwordfile option.  If it is prompting you for a master password also you may need to have your domain and node agents created with the savemasterpassword option. I believe you will have to recreate the node agents, but you can use the asadmin command change-master-password for the domain and specify the --savemasterpassword option.
I have not used the service for the HADB yet, but I believe the procedure is probably similar.

  • Weblogic Windows Service Won't Start

    Hi there,
We have a server with Weblogic installed. After a restart one day the beasvc.exe service hung when the server came back up and now it won't start. Weblogic is currently running in Consol mode and runs without issue. Can you someone give me instructions on how to troubleshoot the Service start of beasvc.exe and what may have caused it please?
    Kind Regards

    Hi,
You can try to start your service using the debug option which should give you the error on the prompt if any, following is the command to start the service in a debug mode
    WL_HOME\server\bin\beasvc.exe -debug "SVC_NAME"Where:
WL_HOME= Is the path where Weblogic server is installed say something like c:\bea\weblogic92
SVC_NAME = That's the name of the service. The best way is to right-click the service which you have created in the services.msc panel and select properties then copy the Display name of the script and then paste it in the "SVC_NAME".

Thank you for the quick reply!
When I try to start the Windows Service manually, the status box "Windows is attempting to start the following service on Local Computer..." appears and remains for 2 minutes (based on my "-delay:120000" setting I presume?). It then closes and the windows service shows a status of "Started." (that's shown in the [url https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1yaiNaka-EEMmr5SBy2_4Eg1sW3oWnpcgjANa_cQjt-U]AdminServer-stdout.txt log: at 11:43:30 we see +[RunJavaApp] Invoking main class+, then at 11:45:30 (2 minutes later) we see +[ServiceStart] Reporting SCM of SERVICE_RUNNING.+
I let it sit in a "Started" state for 30 minutes and there is no additional logging activity. Incidentally, when I check the Windows Task Manager, it shows the beasvc.exe process consuming a constant 50% of the CPU with Memory fixed at 328,356 K.
Correct on all assumptions. Simple Install, Weblogic Version 10.3.5.0, Sun JDK 64 bit (version 6) - I'm using exactly what was included with the OBIEE install.

  • Oracle Berkeley DB on windows 8.1 and future windows versions

    Hi All,
Can anybody tell me if oracle Berkeley DB will be supported in Windows 8.1 and its future versions.
I understand that Berkeley DB relies on POSIX system calls and also that POSIX and WSU (Windows services for Unix) is deprecated from windows 8.1.

    Hi,
As far as we test, Berkeley DB can build and work on Windows 8. We don't have Windows 8.1 for testing currently, so I'm not quite sure whether it is fully supported on this version.
On Windows, Berkeley DB does not rely on the Posix interface on Windows, it uses Windows native API.

  • Call to Table.SetDataSource() causes FileLoadException in Windows service

I'm porting code toVS2010/Crystal Reports VS2010 that has worked flawlessly 24/7 for the past 2 years.  Original code used VS2008/CR VS2008.

When I ported to VS 2010, all of my apps worked fine, except for the Windows service.  In the service, the first call to Table.SetDataSource() causes the service to crash.  I've used detailed logging in the service to pinpoint the source of the error.  I log before and after the call to SetDataSource(), but only the before message is logged.

    ======================
I'm catching all exceptions in my report generator component, but, for some reason, this exception isn't caught.  I think it's because it's occurring in the CLR and the CLR is aborting the process.
I've been monitoring the service in ProcMon. I see a final set of  references to the CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataSetConversion assembly that succeed, 3 attempts to access the assemby's PDB file that fail, and then DW20.EXE (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DW\DW20.EXE) is loaded to process process the error.  (Could the missing PDB file be the problem?)
The ProcMon trace looks entirely different when I run the report gen components from the WinForms and console apps.
I don't think this is a permissions issue.  I've been able to log in as the user that the service logs in as and have been able to run both WinForms and console versions of the report generator without problems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I absolutely have to convert this app!
    -David

    Sorry about that,
They changed the info... Do this:
In the mean time here's how to work around it and get logging working:
Create a Registry file with this in it and save it: ( Replace the double quote with an open square bracket )
    W i n d o w s R e g i s t r y E d i t o r V e r s i o n 5 . 0 0
    " H K E Y _ L O C A L _ M A C H I N E \ S O F T W A R E \ S A P B u s i n e s s O b j e c t s \ S u i t e X I 4 . 0 ]
    " H K E Y _ L O C A L _ M A C H I N E \ S O F T W A R E \ S A P B u s i n e s s O b j e c t s \ S u i t e X I 4 . 0 \ C r y s t a l R e p o r t s ]
    " C o m m o n F i l e s " = " C : \ \ P r o g r a m F i l e s \ \ S A P B u s i n e s s O b j e c t s \ \ C r y s t a l R e p o r t s f o r . N E T F r a m e w o r k 4 . 0 \ \ C o m m o n \ \ "
    And then:
    1. Copy the crlogger.dll from the CR win32_x86 directory to a folder which its path length is short than 130 characters.
    2. Add the following registry key to registry:
    "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Crystal Reports]
    3. Add a string value u201CCommonFilesu201D under the above added registry key with the value as the pathu2019s fullname which folder we drop the crlogger.dll in step #1 (requires to include the ending backslash character u201C\u201D in the path name).
For example, copy the crlogger.dll form the default CR win32_x86u2019s folder:
    C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86\
    into:
    C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\
Then import the .reg file you created from above.
    Thanks again
    Don

  • Setting up OIM to start as a Windows Service running under Weblogic 10.3.2

    Hi,
On recommendation from our Oracle Rep. we have begun migrating our existing OIM installation on Oracle AS to a Weblogic Application Server. As such we are looking for a way to get the OIM application to run as a service in windows - so we dont have to start it manually after a reboot and so that system monitoring can alert us if/when the application crashes for some reason.
I have asked Oracle support - which basically said that no such howto/documentation exists and that "One needs to debug on their own when face any issue." (whatever the h*** that means).
I was thinking that we werent the first customers trying to get the OIM webapplication to start automatically under weblogic and that someone must have figured out a way to accomplish this ?
Any advice on how to do this will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.
    /Jacob

    Hi Jacob,
See this post that I answered few time ago. Re: Keeping Remote Manager running - Windows
Our OIM is running as a Windows Service.

  • Weblogic Server does not show managed server started when I used the Windows service to start it.

I created a windows service to start a managed server and the services was created successfully and stated.  WHen I go to the Weblogic Server Admn console, the server is still showing shutdown.  Whenm I try to start it, it returns with error that the the service is not able to start.  Has anyone ran into anything similar.  I am running on Windows Server 2008R2 and running Weblogic Server 10.3.6 and Fusion Middleware 11.1.6.

    Hi,
For starting managed server as windows service there is no need of nodemanager .
Please follow the steps given in the below doc:
