CC for Teams: Seats vs. Devices

This issue has been raised before. I tried speak with a representative about this, but I couldn't seem to get some very basic concepts through her head and she refused to escalate the phone call to someone with better product knowledge, or <GASP> the ability to provide some feedback in hopes of fixing this problem.
I have a small development company with many part time employees, only a portion of them are designers. We have several computers in our office, and they are used on a first come first served. Our basic need is to allow any worker to access Adobe CC on any computer in the office without buying an excessive number of licenses that can't be used simultaneously.
I called to upgrade to CC for Teams thinking this would provide the needed flexibility, but the sticking point for me is the definition of a "seat". I expected a seat to be "a person actively using the product" and that the licensing server would restrict the use of the product to "one active user per seat" regardless of how many computers the software was installed on. In fact I worked at Sun Microsystems in the 90s and Adobe Photoshop was provided using this exact same licensing scenario.
Installation is apparently limited to two computers even if you have the CC for Teams subscription that comes with a license management tool. This makes absolutely no sense. I'm happy to buy multiple seats in order to have the flexibility of using any computer in the office. I'm just hoping someone at Adobe who "gets it" will see this and resolve this issue.
Chris

Each Seat is for one individual user who uses their Adobe ID to activate the software. That Seat allows the individual to activate the software on up to two computers, but not running at the same time. This is the same license for activation that comes with an individual purchasing a perpetual license (serial number).
So it is not the installation that is limited but the number of activations. If the individual activates on a third computer they will be asked to deactivate on the others, and and then reactivate the second computer when using it again.

  • CC for teams - seats and assignments

Been going through the FAQs and videos and still didn't solve this
Can I assign more than one seat to a user?
In our studio we have 7 workstations - so far we just had 7 CSs in Volume Licensing. We have licenses assigned to machines rather than people - any of the artists can sit on an available machine and just start working.
What is the equivalent for CC?
Do I create a single Adobe ID for our studio and assign 7 seats to this user and then use it on all machines for installations, or do I have to create 7 Adobe IDs (one per workstation) and assign a single seat to each of them?

Hmm, one payment for all seats and one paperwork with our accountants those sound better
Just one more thing - I don't see pricing for single applications in the Team subscription, seems each seat has to be the entire suite, right?
No way of buying additional seats of just AfterEffects for example?
Asking because it sometimes actually happens that we hire more guys to finish up  a project for the final two weeks - and additional AEs is all we'd need for them in this case - freelancers always charge more if they have to use their own software for work

  • CC for teams licensing

If I assign a CC for teams seat to a user can that individual install it on their PC  at home as well as their office PC?

    Hi FC00001
Yes, the individual can install/activate on 2 of their computers so can use it on a office PC and home PC.
    Thanks

  • Do you have to keep two seats for CC for teams?

Do you have to keep two seats for CC for teams? I know that seems like a stupid question. It was a big hassle to transfer from single membership to the teams membership, but we really haven't been using our second seat for about a year (we lost an employee and haven't filled the spot), so we've just been paying for that second seat that's only been used a few minutes here and there when I use that computer. We don't want to pay for the second seat if we're not adding another employee, but I'm not sure how easy it is to go back. Any advice?

Meg makes a very good point (as she always does), but the answer to your question is - Yes - each device needs its own data plan - So unless you can take advantage of what Meg has suggested with the phone - you need a separate plan for the iPad.

  • Renewing Creative Cloud for teams, but cancelling some of the seats

    Hi all,
When our CC for Teams renewal comes up in December, I want to go ahead with it, but also reduce the number of seats we have, and also change a couple of full subscriptions to single apps only. Has anyone done this sort of thing, and how did it go?
I just had a chat with an Adobe representative who made it all sound very simple, but based on past experience I can't deny that I have some misgivings. Hopefully the community here can give me a reality check! As many others have mentioned, there's no way to manage your renewal in the account settings, so the whole process is opaque to say the least.
    My questions are:
    1. Can I renew, but cancel some seats at the same time? Or will I end up having to cancel the whole account and start all over again?
    2. If we can cancel a few seats, but keep the account open, will we keep our promotional pricing on the remainder?
    3. I gather that when you use CC for teams, single application subscriptions can only be bought through a reseller. Is it possible to then integrate these into an existing CC for teams account?
Thanks everyone. Any help or insights much appreciated!

Here are the replies to your queries:
    1. Can I renew, but cancel some seats at the same time? Or will I end up having to cancel the whole account and start all over again?
You can cancel the seats as the number of seats can be altered, you do not need to cancel the whole account.
    2. If we can cancel a few seats, but keep the account open, will we keep our promotional pricing on the remainder?
If it is within the lock in price then you shall be able to get the promotional price, it needs to confirmed by the reseller or the team renewing it other wise the price at the time of renewal is at the prevalent price.
    3. I gather that when you use CC for teams, single application subscriptions can only be bought through a reseller. Is it possible to then integrate these into an existing CC for teams account?
At this point of time, complete CC team & Single app CC team can not be amalgamated.

  • How many 'seats' are included with Adobe Creative Cloud for teams?

How many 'seats' are included with Adobe Creative Cloud for teams?

    Hi Mrfrodo,
There isn't a set number, you purchase the number you would need based on the size of your organization.
This section of the FAQ might also be helpful for you to learn more about team too.

  • Can I use the same email address for multiple seats in Creative Cloud for Teams?

Can I use the same email address for multiple seats in Creative Cloud for Teams?

    No. http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/faq.html
Can I buy more than one membership to an individual offering of Creative Cloud?
No, Adobe has moved to identity-based licensing with a technology that will not support multiple same-product licenses, so you can buy only one membership per Adobe ID. If you need two Creative Cloud memberships, you will need to purchase each with a unique Adobe ID. You can also purchase a Creative Cloud for teams membership, which allows you to purchase and manage multiple seats under one account.

Warranty and support is only valid in the country of origin, or in the case of a device purchased in an EU country, only in an EU country.
Unless you will be visiting an Apple store in one of the EU countries before the warranty expires, you are pretty much out of luck.

  • Are CC for Teams license seats flexible?

We have 4 users in the office but at no time are all of them using adobe products at the same time. Are the seats for CC for Teams flexible allowing 4 users to share fewer seats or would an administrator have to constantly reassign seats?

RJAplanres the seats are designed for each individual which will be utilizing the software.  Not only does Creative Cloud for Teams include Adobe applications but there are also User specific services including syncronization of the application preferences.  You can find more details at http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/teams.html?kw=semgeneric.

  • Hello, we have both Creative Cloud and Creative Cloud for teams. Can you help me with the difference and if i need to have both?

Hello, we have both Creative Cloud membership and Creative Cloud for team. Can you help me with the difference and if i need to have both? We have 9 employees that are using it. Just not sure if i'm paying for something i don't need.
    Thank you

Please refer to Creative Cloud Help | Creative Cloud / Common Questions
CC is for retail use with 20 GB of storage space, CCT is where number of seats are purchased & assigned by one program admin where each seat gets 100GB of storage space.
You can not have both the CC & team in one account as it will only provide you added storage space of 120 GB but you can activate the CC any of them or either of them twice as CC is based on Adobe ID.

  • Using Creative Cloud for teams on non internet workstations

    Hi Folks,
Am interested in running creative cloud on workstations that do not have internet access.
This is because of security issues and Non Disclosure Agreements.
Internet will only be enabled by ICT  admin for activation.
Is there a manual procedure to validate the software on a machine with admin provided Internet before the 30 days of use elapses?
    Kind Regards,
    AC_ICT

In a broadcast environment where all our edit bays are offline behind firewall.  I've installed all our CC team seats and only have to take them online every 90 - 120 days or when updates are needed. Any users that see the license countdown are told to contact IT and I take the machine online manually, check for updates and that seems to give CC Aps enough time to touch base with the license server. Take the users offline and back behind the firewall till the next countdown begins.  Rinse, Repeat as needed. This is the manual way, otherwise you need to set up a Adobe License or Update Server behind your firewall that you then deploy updates as needed.

  • Creative Cloud for Teams (Any Hidden Cost?)

    Regarding the CC Team Subscription please clarify the following;
    (1) Are there a certain number of seats allotted to the team subscription and if so how many?
    (2) For a company with 6 to 8 employees who need to use various products from the Master Suite, is their an extra cost for each employee or seat?
Please clarify as soon as possible as our company is very interested in subscribing but we need further clarity on this particular matter.
    Regards
    S. Phillips

    http://www.adobe.com/au/products/creativecloud/faq.html#ccm-teams
    (1) Are there a certain number of seats allotted to the team subscription and if so how many?
No, you pay per seat. Minimum one seat, maximum is however many you want to pay for.
"How much does Creative Cloud for teams cost?
Creative Cloud for teams is US$69.99 per user per month (with an annual commitment). Existing CS3 and later customers who have previously purchased Creative Suite software through a volume licensing program are eligible to buy at the special price of US$49.99 per user per month."
    (2) For a company with 6 to 8 employees who need to use various products from the Master Suite, is their an extra cost for each employee or seat?
Same cost per user per month regardless of whether they use 1 app, some apps or all apps.
You pay $69.99 for each seat per month. You can add, delete or reassign seats from the Admin console as required.
    6 seats x $69.99 per month = $419.94 per month
    8 seats x $69.99 per month = $559.92 per month

  • Creative Cloud for Teams. I can not remove a user

I am helping a friend who has bought Creative Cloud for Teams. I am myself a team admin for a company and that's why she asked me to help out.
She has only one user on the team right now, her self. She is also the admin.
Different User and Pass for each.
Anniversary date is in July 2015.
Trouble started four weeks ago in the beginning of October.
The iMac was on System 10.7 but I updated to 10.10 when trying to solve the matter.
I cleaned everything Adobe, using Adobe Cleaner and manually inside out, preferences, Libraries, Applications, Utilities…
Installed again the Creative Cloud and started with Photoshop to try out once again.
When she is logged into the Admin Console / Manage Team it shows very clearly that the User is Active.
When she tries to open any CC application there is a message saying that the account has expired.
When trying to remove the User, it is not possible and there is a yellow sticker saying: "We're sorry. Something seems to be wrong on our end. Please try again later. If this continues to fail, please contact customer support."
The User can not use any of the CC applications and the only option now is to run a 30 days trial on the admins Adobe ID while we try solve this matter.
Is anything of this familiar to anyone? Any suggestions?

    Oh, sorry…
The problem was partly that the owner of the license should have assigned the first (and only) seat to the admin, herself, the buyer,
Instead she assigned it to herself under another Adobe ID. She says she was told to do it this way but reading the instructions from Adobe says you should start by assigning the first seat to yourself/the admin.
But that should not have caused such dramatic problems where she was not able to delete the user and correct it. Also the license for the assigned user expired – strangely after 5 months of use. There was something that happened at Adobe that made this stick and the problem had to be solved by them.
In the meantime I made the admin a trial for 30 days and the problem was solved within that time and everything is fine now.
Lesson learned: If one is buying a Team version, one should always assign the first seat to the admin – as the instructions says.

  • Creative Cloud for Teams - second computer will only install as trial version

    Hi there
My company purchased Creative Cloud for Teams. I use a Mac at work and have installed it without any problems there. However at home i use a PC (Windows 7) and i have tried several times to sign into my Creative Cloud account and download programs so i can work at home but each time it will only load the programs as trial versions.
I have tried several troubleshooting options with no luck:
Clicked sign in on the trial window - but it just asks me for a serial number which i obviously dont have.
I asked my work IT dept to delete and resend my seat invitation which they did but it didnt fix the issue.
I asked my work IT dept to check with the reseller we bought Creative Cloud for Teams from whether there were any restrictions or settings which wont allow to install on a second computer but they said it should be fine.
My team mates at work have installed it on their home Macs without a problem, it seems to be only a PC issue.
I have had CS6 on my computer previously but uninstalled it all in case this was causing the conflict - but it didnt fix the CC issue.
I have uninstalled and used the Adobe Cleaner tool, then reinstalled but this didnt work - the trial days still kept counting down.
I uninstalled again, used a Registery cleaning tool (cleaned registery, temp files, browser temp files etc), used the Adobe Cleaner tool (just to make it extra clean), and removed all traces of Adobe from my machine. I reinstalled Creative Cloud Application manager, installed Acrobat to try it out. This time the trial days have gone back to 30 (rather than zero). I clicked on the "sign in" button, it signs me in but still asks for a serial number.
I tried contacting Adobe via the chat channel but was told after some time that i would need to speak to Tech Support. My dealings with Adobe Tech Support in the past haven't been the most fruitful, so i thought i would ask the forum as my last desperate attempt to solve this problem.
    Any and all suggestions welcome.
    Thanks!
