CcmEval Scheduled task not being created with "Access Denied" error 0x80070005 only on XP machines

Before coming on here I checked out http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ddbfe6c3-ee54-4b2a-a3a7-a6515d974f76/client-check-failed-on-xpserver-2003-systems-onlyccmeval-is-not-being-scheduled?forum=configmanagerdeployment (GPO
to allow scheduled tasks by users) and another thread about a hotfix that seems to be pre-XP SP3 and pre-CM 2012 R2.
That said, I'm having an issue many seem to have, but I can't find the answer. From what I understand SCCM uses the user context to create the CcmEval task, but in XP users cannot set a task to run as any other user (ie SYSTEM in this instance) so what is
the workaround? I can't just give users Administrator permissions to install the client.
The exact log entries are:

The bolded section is what's telling me it's Access Denied, and manual creation of any program task set to run as SYSTEM tells me the same- users cannot do this; only admins can.
What can I do?

So after sifting through some RSOP results and GPO objects I found a policy that wasn't necessarily prohibiting creation of them. (Not where you think it would be - under
Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Task Scheduler > "Prohibit New Task Creation" -
this was set to allow them) but this one I found was a File Permissions policy that set SYSTEM permissions to READ and EXECUTE.
I've changed this to FULL CONTROL for SYSTEM. I'm unable to get on the machines to examine everything closely, but from what I can see at least one of them has remediated themselves and now has a successful client check in the console. Hopefully the rest
of them will come around as GP updates itself and the client does an evaluation to remediate the Scheduled Task.
Hopefully this helps someone in the future as well.

  • XMP files not being created with DNGs...

    I'm used to using Bridge with ACR to process Nikon NEFs. But a recent camera update has me experimenting with converting the D3's NEFs to DNG files and editing them with CS2 and Bridge 1.04 which works better on my system. I've also experimented with CS3 and Bridge 2.1.1.9 with the same DNG files.
    In both cases XMP files are not being created when working with DNG files. I have enabled "Save image settings in : Sidecar ".xmp" files" turned ON. But they do not seem to be generated and I assume the ACR adjustments are being embedded in the DNG file. Meanwhile doing edits on NEF files continues to create .xmp files as expected.
    I find .xmp files to be very useful and I'm wondering why they're missing with DNG files? Are they hiding somewhere other than in the same folder that the images reside in?
    Thanks.
    Russell

    > The information contained in the XMP file is stored in the DNG file so there is no need for a separate file.
    Aww, yuck!! That's a real drag...
    When editing lots of files (yesterday's shoot produced 8GB) I back everything up to off-line storage and then, after doing all my edits and crops in ACR, I only have to copy over the small XMP files which takes no time at all.
    So if I re-edit the DNG with ACR I have to re-copy ALL the files again to the off-line storage.
    I used to sometimes even save 2 versions of the xmp files when I needed 2 different crops of the same images, such as doing a wide screen 'cinema' crop for a corporate client's Intranet presentation of their event, as well as more standard crops to be used for their newsletters.
    Guess I won't be using DNG any more..
    Thanks for the help Kees :-)

  • Publishing cancels with "access denied" error when publishing updates to desktop layout

    Hello, all,
    Wondering if anyone else has run into this issue: we update and republish our help projects frequently. We're currently using a layout based on the desktop layout (colors, fonts, and some other screen elements have changed). The project generates successfully. We publish via file transfer and have the "republish all" setting selected. Sometimes when we publish our multiscreen HTML5 layout, it cancels about halfway through the estimated time with a "publishing cancelled - access denied" error. If we delete the layout folder ("desktop" in this case) from the publishing location and retry publishing, it succeeds.
    Has anyone else encountered this issue? If so, what fixes (other than deleting content and republishing) have you found?
    FYI, we also publish the same projects to the WebHelp Pro layout without any issues.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    This problem used to occur with Publishing from Rh but I have not seen it for a long time, either myself or in posts.
    Maybe Item 5 at http://www.grainge.org/pages/snippets/snippets.htm#webhelp will help.

  • Calendar items not being created with sync

    I seem to have calendar items that don't sync properly or at all when I sync the computer calendar program with the phone.  Any thoughts on the problem?
    Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)

    I'm having the same problem.  I've created categories on my palm but when I sync with computer the events or categories don't show.  Some have but some have not.  The sync process stalls out when I try to have palm over ride the computer so I don't know if that's the problem.  If so I don't know why it stalls out.  I have the same problem with tasks I've created.  Good Luck!

  • Auto Save folder not being created with new project

    Just recently I've noticed that when I start a new project there is no auto save folder being created.  I have all preferences the same (auto save every 10 min with a max of 50 and save next to project files).  I have no idea why this started or what I can do to fix it.

    So it seems to be working now.  I went back through other projects that have been open for some time and the most recent auto save file I could find for any of them was from Oct. 8th.  So auto save hasn't been working at all.  What I did was go into preferences and change the interval a little and the frequency from where I had had it since intial set up.  That seemed to have told it to turn it back on for some reason.  It's really weird.  I guess I'll just keep an eye on it, but people may want to check there folders just in case the same issue is happening.  I didn't realize it until today and it's been happening for a couple of weeks apparently.

    Dear All
    When I try to setup my computer with schedule tasks, I setup the "time" and "Day" and then click OK at this stage. I'm always asked for the password, but if I use the password or not I always receive the same message as following:
    **An error has occurred while attempting to set task account information**
    The Specific Error Is "access has been denied 0x80070005"
    You do not have permission to perform the requested operation
    Can anybody help me with the answer please?
    Thanks everybody for assistance with this matter.

    Hi Tandy
    It is very strange. When notebook is delivered with factory settings, there is definitely no one password.
    Do you use delivered recovery DVD to install operating system?
    Which notebook model you have? I can not imagine you have had the same situation when the notebook was brand new and after first start. Or you have maybe bought used one? Please give us more info about your notebook.

    When I attempt to access ... System Restore, I get an error message "Access Denied- (0x80070005)".
    That probably indicates corruption in the restore points. The only way to fix it is to turn System Restore off and then on again. Unfortunately, that remove all the existing restore points.

    I am getting some really strange behavior with the IMAQ Vision AVI create function.  I am seeing the following error with the following file name or pretty much any other file name I try.  I did try to hard code the same file path name, and one time it worked, but another time it did not.  Anyone seen this error before?
    I will cross-post in the Vision forum also.

  • Get-VHD failing with access denied when querying remote VHDs on SMB 3.0 shares

    I'm out of ideas on this one. I'm attempting to do a Get-VHD to retrieve VHD info for some Guests that are using SMB 3.0 shares to remotely store their VHDs and I cannot remotely run the powershell command at all without getting  Error: 'General Access
    denied error' (0x80070005)'. Command running locally on the machine hosting the guest works fine.
    Here is the Hyper-V Setup - Host is Server 2012 datacenter, guests are 2012 or 2008 R2 boxes. Storage server is Server 2012, domain is 2008 R2 functionality level if it matters, powershell version 3.0
    Host1 --> Guest(1) --> {LAN}--> StorageServer --> Share --> VHD
    Make sense? pretty easy, normal setup. The Host has full access NTFS rights on the share and all files, including the VHDs. As does my AD account. All on the same domain. If I RDP into Host1 I can retrieve everything just fine. However, the following methods
    will not work to retrieve VHD info of any Guest running on their VHDs off the share (get-vhd works if Guests have their VHDs on locally attached storage).
    1.) Enter-PsSession Host1 and then attempt get-vhd
    2.) Invoke-Command
    3.) import module/hyper-v management tools on client then running get-vhd
    4.) Executing GetVirtualHardDiskInfo method in WMI (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc136797%28VS.85%29.aspx) to retrieve the job which results in same error message.
    5.) Even attempting test-path $pathToVHD on the host will result in Access Denied error.
    If I check the storage server hosting the VHDs I see some normal access requests come across on my Domain account followed a few seconds later by a null sid/anonymous requests which of course are denied. I have no idea why on earth they are coming across
    as null SIDs/anonymous requests but this seems to be the root of the issue. Is it trying to regenerate my credentials or something to access the VHD and failing? If so, is there a way to fix it?

    Yeah I thought about that too and that isn't the problem in this particular case (also PSSession takes care of the RSAT/HyperV problem). If it was Scenario #1 wouldn't work and scenario #4 would.
    Again, this works fine:
    Scenario #1 (works)
    1.) Remote computer running PS 3.0 (win 7 desktop in this case) enter-pssession Host1
    2.)  Get-VHD $VHDOnLocalDirectAttachedStorage (Host1 is running guest)
    Scenario #2 (works)
    1.) RDP to Host1
    2.) Get-VHD $VHDOnSMBShare (host1 is running guest)
    Scenario #3 (breaks)
    1.) On remote computer enter-pssession Host1
    2.) Get-VHD $VHDOnSMBShare (host1 is running guest)
    Scenario #4 (breaks):
    1.) RDP to Host2 server 2012 running Hyper-v with RSAT installed
    2.) Get-VHD $VHDOnSMBShare -ComputerName RemoteHost
    Scenario #5 (works):
    1.) Enter-Psession Host2
    2.) Get-VHD $VHDOnHost1LocalStorage -ComputerName Host1

  • Access Denied Error For Shared Folder with Win Server 2008R2 Task Manager Scheduled Task

    Hi,
    I have scheduled a Task with the Task scheduler. It invokes an .EXE file after every 5 min.
    The application is supposed to access some files lying on a different Server's shared path, process them and move them across folders on the Shared path only.
    Problem: When the .EXE gets executed from the Task scheduler, I am getting "Access Denied to the Shared path" error. I have already given Full Control to Everyone as well as to the Account with which the Task has been configured with.
    Another important point to note is, if I run the .EXE manually, the solution is able is able to do everything intended; I don't get any Access Denied error.
    Kindly help me with what needs to be done in order that this issue is resolved. This is really urgent for me.
    Thanks a lot in advance..

    Hello Alex,
    first of all, make sure your task was correctly create: How to Create Advanced Tasks with the Task
    Scheduler.
    Please, read these:
    TechNet Library Task Security Context
    TechNet Forums post How
    does "Run with the highest privileges" really work in Task Scheduler ? - Look at the answer "...When you want to run a program with admin rights from a standard user account, you have to select "run whether the user is logged
    on or not" and select a user which is member of the admingroup."
    TechNet Forums post
    Log on as batch job right (written on previous post)

    serverfault
    unable to schedule a task (access denied)
    UAC: Do you receive the User Account Control "Windows need your permission to continue" message to approve the scheduled application ?
    If yes, maybe "Run with highest privileges" option will not take precedence of the UAC. While the Admin Approval Mode for built-in Administrator account is enabled, UAC will still ask for approval according to the settings on the Behavior
    of elevation to prompt for the administrators. Check whether the "User Account Control: Admin Approval Mode for built-in Administrator account" is enabled. If yes, disable it or change the setting on "User Account Control: Behavior
    of elevation to prompt for the administrators" to elevate without prompting.

  • I'm at the end of my tether with not being able to access itunes which I could do perfectly well before! Now my laptop won't even connect to the internet despite the connection at the hub being excellent! No problem with ipad and phone - only windows!

    I'm tired of this problem of not being able to access itunes on my laptop and now no internet access despite connection and strength being excellent. What are windows playing at? Worked perfectly well until recently. Very frustrating and time consuming!

    Just a few lines to assure you you are not alone regarding speed delivery. By no means.
    I'm on Infinity 2 with HH5 - was virtually guaranteed 63 d/l and told possibly even up to 78. My actual speeds are nearer 15 (yes 15!) to 28 d/l if I am lucky. I've played all the obligatory games of checking and posting and reviewing my HH stats - and of course wasting my time with India "help" customer services who are instructed to read from a script of inane generalities which are usually completely irrelevant and have no connection whatsoever with a user's Specific problem.
    It more often than not turns out that the automated monitoring system imposes a software called DLM = Digital Line Management = which (with the endless excuse of improving line stability) increases noise margins and drastically reduces speed. This can kick in pretty rapidly and can take at least 3 to 4 days to modify itself - if indeed at all!!! Usually an Openreach engineer visit is then needed - who will re-set the Profile to what it is you are supposed to be paying for ..... then of course it is totally possible that DLM will re-emerge and the same old cycle of troubles will have to be endured.
    We pay in good faith at the outset on the back of so many promises - only to be cynically let down and dismissed once signed up. It is quite wrong we have to continually argue our case to (try) to get anywhere and are always reminded that we are tied into contracts with expensive escape clauses - or that an engineer's visit is only free IF it is proved the fault is not inside your house - which it very rarely is! This is often more an Ordeal than a subscribed service. Superfast reliable Broadband in the UK ? Ha!

  • Class not being created when running from jar

    Hi all,
    Tech info first:
    IDE: Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8
    Plaform: windows xp
    I have created a Swing app, that connects to a com port(using the RXTXcomm). now, when I run the app in the IDE, everything is fine and dandy, but, when I run the jar file, the application loads, but the class in the app which deals with the com port is not created. here is the code:
        private static void createAndShowGUI() {
            //Make sure we have nice window decorations.
            JFrame.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(true);
            Main receiver = new Main();
            receiver.getPropertiesFromFile();
            //Create and set up the window.
            frame = new JFrame("RFILOG RFID Empfnger");
            frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            frame.setContentPane(receiver.mainPanel);
            frame.setJMenuBar(receiver.createMenuBar());
            frame.addWindowListener(receiver);
            frame.setLocationByPlatform(true);
            //Display the window.
            frame.pack();
            frame.setVisible(true);
            portListener = new RFIDReaderComm(receiver, "COM3");
            portListener.getConfiguration();
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            //Schedule a job for the event-dispatching thread:
            //creating and showing this application's GUI.
            javax.swing.SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
                public void run() {
                    createAndShowGUI();
    portListener in the createAndShowGUI() function is an interface level parameter and is the class that is not being created. There is no error message.
    If I move the two lines that deal with the port listener before the frame.pack() line, then the GUI is not even loaded, and when I view the processes in the task manager, the process starts and then quits without anything becoming visible. So from this I guess there is a problem with creating the class when running from a jar, but without any error messages, I have not a clue where to start...can anyone help?
    thanks in advance.

    Well, some more info, so maybe someone can come up with some tips for me...this is really important, and any help is greatly appreciated.
    This is obviously a classpath problem. After running the my jar file with java -jar I finally got the error NoClassDefFoundError
    Kind of obvious I suppose. But, I cannot seem to get the two jar files I need into the classpath. I have tried the following:
    Updating my computers CLASSPATH with the relevant paths - not working
    Trying to get the Sun Java Studio Enterprise to build the required jar files into the final package - cannot get this to work
    Tried updating the manifest.mf in the following way:
    Created a text file Manifest.txt with the lines:
    Class-Path: RXTXcomm.jar
    Class-Path: BrowserLauncher2-10rc4.jar
    ran the command (in the same directory as Manifest.txt):
    jar cfm RUFILOGScanner.jar Manifest.txt classes/*.class
    but this does not work either. When I run: jar tf RUFILOGScanner.jar all I get is:
    META-INF/
    META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
    classes/
    classes/CRCCalculator.class
    classes/Main$1.class
    classes/Main.class
    classes/RFIDReaderComm.class
    classes/URLDialog$1.class
    classes/URLDialog$2.class
    classes/URLDialog.class
    the classes I want added are not there. Plus, (I think this is because I am running SE8) the manifest.mf is not in a folder called META-INF. In fact, I have no folder called META-INF. Is this significant?
    Please, can anyone help me?
