Cell formulas stop reporting correct values. Numbers 3.5.

10.10
Numbers 3.5
In the same table:
I have a cell (say #1) with a number value entered say 10.40.
I have another cell (say cell #2) that is set to equal that cell's value.
This works and cell 2 reports the correct value of cell 1.
But once every 10 or so restarts cell 2 stops reporting cell 1's value correctly.
It reports the previous value after I change Cell 1's value.
Sometimes deleting cell 2's reference and re-entering it works.
Other times it just continues to report cell 1's previous value.
Getting cell 2 to report the current value of cell 1 can be a chore.
Other cells on the same sheet with more complicated formulas also stop reporting the correct values.
Many references are for cells in other tables on the same sheet.
I can spend 30-45 minutes correcting the mess every 10 or so restarts.
Anyone else have this issue?
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks   ...   Ken

Nothing like that here.  Have you tried deleting Numbers 3.5 (go to LaunchPad, hold down the mouse button until the icons quiver, and click the x by the Numbers icon) and re-downloading from the Mac App Store?  Also have you tried shutting down and restarting your Mac?

  • BFC: Cell formulas in reports

    Hello,
    I wonder if it´s possible to insert a cell formula (IF formula) in a BFC Report, which has a text as a result.
    Formula should look like this:
    = IF (A1 > 0 and B1 = 0; "YES"; "NO")
    I always get "Incorrect formula" as long as I use "YES" or "NO" as a result. As soon as I uses numbers, the formula works.
    Is this a normal behaviour?
    We are using SAP FC 10.0 SP09
    Regards
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
    According to FC10 Windows User Guide: "Note: Cell formulas do not enable you to display text. Similarly, they do not enable you to apply conditions to text."
    A possible workaround is setting text in Cell Format > Data > Display for positive, negative and zero values. In your case above, you can set formula in "control" cell as = IF (B1=0; A1; -1) and set cell Display as "YES";"NO";"NO".
    Best regards,

  • How to write a formula that includes the value of a cell from another external numbers file ?

    Hello,
    Maybe my Numbers is too old : Numbers '08 v 1.0.3
    But it doesn't seem to allow me to write a formula that includes the value of an external cell...
    Any answers ?

  • REP-1425 report formula DO_SQL error putting value into column

    Hi all
    I have opened a report 2.5 in Oracle9i Reports Developer and, it converted ok. However, when I run the report (paper layout), the message
    rep-1425 report formula DO_SQL error putting value
    into column. Column may not be referenced by parameter
    triggers
    appears. There are several report level formula columns and corresponding placeholder columns that are the cause of this error. The formula has the following :
    SRW.DO_SQL('SELECT RPAD(''DAILY TABLE AUDIT REPORT'',60,''.'')||TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,''DD-MON-YYYY'') INTO :REPORT_TIT FROM DUAL');
    COMMIT;
    RETURN('');
    I can't work out what this error message really means as the column, report_tit is a placeholder column and, the formula column is not a parameter trigger!! The report_tit placeholder is used as a source for a layout field. I noticed that the layout field is defined as a placeholder column in the converted report but in the reports 2.5 version, it is defined as a layout field.
    I can do a work around by replacing the SRW.DO_SQL statement with a normal PL/SQL SELECT statement. However, I wonder if anyone else has had the same problem and, if anyone can help provide an answer as to what this error really means and, also, how I can retain the SRW.DO_SQL statement and/or an alternative work around to the one that I have described.
    Thanks.

    Hi again
    The firewall proved to be the problem after all! The firewall set in Reports config-files is not used for WebServices, it has to be set within the stub:
    Properties prop = System.getProperties();
    prop.put("http.proxyHost","yourProxyServer");
    prop.put("http.proxyPort","youProxyServerPort");
    I inserted this in my java-code and after some problems (see below), restarting Report Builder turned the trick, the report works now.
    Cheers
    Tino
    Here there mail I set up before I found that restarting Report Builder helped:
    Thanks for your answer, putting in the proxy-settings actually helped some - the same error message is
    popping up, but instantly and not after 10 seconds like before:
    My proxy lines look like this, I also tried "http://proxy.ch.oracle.com", but "proxy.ch.oracle.com" proved to
    be the correct syntax:
    public Float getRate(String country1, String country2) throws Exception
    Float returnVal = null;
    Properties prop = System.getProperties();
    prop.put("http.proxyHost","proxy.ch.oracle.com");
    prop.put("http.proxyPort","8080");
    URL endpointURL = new URL(endpoint);
    Call call = new Call();
    I tested the new proxy-entries by disabling the proxy preference in JDeveloper, so I could verify the added
    proxy-lines in the code work - they do. If I change the proxy to some incorrect value like
    "proxyy.ch.oracle.com", they fail.
    After unsuccessfully trying recompile and re-import of Java classes, I rebuild the report from scratch and
    stumbled over the same problem. Now the question is, whether I'm still doing something wrong with the
    proxy or whether there is another problem after passing the firewall....

  • How let Empty (NULL) cells in Matrix Report to show a 0 value

    I am working on a Matrix report in Oracle 9i environment. The report involves lots of grouping and calculations. Everything works fine, except for the Empty (NULL) cells. If a group did not get a concrete
    Returned value (NULL), the cell would be empty. The data layout is as following:
    District_Name
    Total      Failed      %Failed
    10 5 %50
    For some District, all 3 cells are empty, (with NULL values returned, I guess). As a result, all 3 cell for that District show nothing. End users required all cells with a meaningful value (e.g. 0). At same time they want all the value in a grid style (outlined). With null values, all 3 cell merged into one empty "big" cell".
    Any friends can help?
    I would like to express my appreciation here.
    AChen

    Without seeing your query, sounds like you either need:
    a) an outer join
    b) an NVL function
    If you are pulling data from multiple tables, and you are doing direct joins, and data from one table is not present in another, an outer join would get the other data.
    You should also use NVL if you need a 0. If a field is not populated, but you want to default it to zero, use the NVL function.
    If all else fails, you could make the fields formula fields. In the formula you could put this pseudocode:
    IF :cf_cell1 is null
    then return 0;
    else return :cf_cell1;
    end if;Just an idea - if none of those suffice, post your query and maybe we can help.
    Good luck!

  • Stock Ledger Report in Day Wise not giving correct values for Opening Stock

    Dear Experts,
    I m working on Sock ledger report to give the day wise data.
    since yesterdays closing Stock will become opening stock of today,
    To get Opening Stock,
    I have restricted the stock key figure with 2 variables on calday
                                  (DATE FROM var with <=(Lessthan or equal to) and offset -1
                                   DATE TO      var with <=(Lessthan or equal to) and offset -1)
    To get Closing Stock,
    I have restricted the Stock key figure with 2 variables on calday
                                  (DATE FROM var with <=(Lessthan or equal to)
                                   DATE TO      var with <=(Lessthan or equal to) )
    But in the output Opening stock values are not coming correctly and for given range of dates,
    for last date, opening stock is showing as Zero.
    Could you please tell me how can I achieve the correct values for opening stock.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Arjun,
    Seems like you are making it more complicated. What is your selection screen criteria?
    Ideally you should only use the offset.
    You will have say Calday in rows and stock in Column
    ____________Opening Stock_____________Closing Stock
    01/06/2009___(Closing stock of 31/05/2009)_(Stock of 01/06/2009)
    02/06/2009___(Closing stock of 01/06/2009)_(Stock of 02/06/2009)
    03/06/2009___(Closing stock of 02/06/2009)_(Stock of 03/06/2009)
    So, from above scenario, create one RKFs and include Calday in it. Create a replacement path variable on calday and apply the offset as -1.
    So, your Opening Stock will be calculated by closign stock of previous day.

  • Alternative formula for condition base value -correct  routine

    Hi ,
    We need  correct standard routine number in "Alt. formula  for condition base value " in transaction V/08 pricing control .
    Requirement As follow :
    We have one header freight condition which is header condition and group condition in V/06 condition type setting . Lets Say " ZFRIG " the value in this condition should equally approtionate to all the items in SO .
    Ex: ZFRIG = $100 in SO header
    item 10 = ZFRIG should be  $20
    item 20 = ZFRIG should be  $20
    item 30 = ZFRIG should be  $20
    item 40 = ZFRIG should be  $20
    item 50 = ZFRIG should be  $20
    Suitable standard  routine solution  will be appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi ,
    Without any Routine it adds $100 to all the line iteam , so total fright discount becomes $500.

  • Formula for finding channel value

    Hi all,
    Assumption : Dat file containing time and acceleration value. NOw there are only two channles.  Channel 1 is time . Channel 2 is Acceleration.
    Step 1: Create two more channels. channel 3 and channel 4
    Step 2:  go to analysis and search in accleration channel where its value is reached 1.xxxxxxxx
    Step 3: Where ever it has reached 1.xxxxxxxx in accleration channel from that point in channel 3 and 4, Paste all the std values. Std values are in the attached excel file.

    Hi Brad,
    Thank you very much for working with my dat file. I posed the same question to my engineer. So many empty cells exist after copying 1587 values from excel files. but I wonder they use the same strategy for testing their dat file.
    Now I have to create a script for that. I have recored a script for that. I am sending it in attachment.
    1. After copying the values 1587 values from excel file to channel table , from the beginning, it gives report in 2nd attachment format. ( All 3 curves overlapp on each other)
    2. After copying the values 1587 values from excel file to channel table ( 3 and 4) , 5 or 6 rows before , where ever the acceleration value of 2nd channel has reached 1.xxxxxx , it gives report in 3rd attachment format. (expected report format)
    3. Now I have to create a script to generate report in the 2nd format. What are your comments on this?? Whether it is a correct metrhod of checking the correctness of a test or not?
    4. HOw will i make script more interactive(If possible)?

  • Formula to grab a value out of a long list?

    Hello!
    I’m trying to set up a formula in order to select one value out of a bunch of cells (about 200).
    The cells in column A contain each one account number – e. g.: 6815
    The cells in column B contain each a definition for the corresponding account number of column A – e. g.: “Office Supplies”
    The formula is supposed to gather both expressions in order to unit and display them in another cell, let’s say “C201”, using something like
    ->  =A1&" "&B1
    a) Now, how do I set up things in order to connect my formula with an array? …assuming the array would contain the 200 cells (A1 -> A200) and (B1 -> B200), but written in such a sleek maner, in terms of syntax, so the formula remains easy to update and easy to process.
    b) If I add new accounts (e.g. A201, …) and new corresponding account definitions (e.g. B201…), can I have my formula growing dynamically with the added cells?
    c) And most important, what do I have to insert into the formula in order to set up a sort of text-completion-function?
    - e. g.: typing “6815” into a C-cell brings up the whole string “6815 Office Supplies”
    - or : typing “Office Supplies” into a C-cell brings up the whole string “6815 Office Supplies”
    (each new character typed into the cell reduces the amount of matching-expressions displayed in or next to the cell in a list, so one can choose more quickly)
    d) on top (regarding c), the selecting-function would be arrow-keys-sensitive.
    I know it sounds a little like some sort of FILEMAKER-abracadabra, but I’m wondering if all this also can be achieved in NUMBERS.
    Any hints would be much appreciated.
    G

    HI gestyle,
    e) correct. " annual picnic" in this case would be generated by a lookup formula, which 2014 would be entered text. The entered text would immediately replace the formula in the cell, leaving no way to retrieve the description text.
    ee) sort of. The formula (in A2, for example) would need to get the entered text (also in A2) to use as a search key for the descriptive text (on another table), then return it to cell A2. Until text was entered in A2, there is a self reference issue. The issue disappears as soon as text is entered in the cell, but only because the formula itself disappears at that instant.
    If the only purpose for having the full string ( 2014 Annual Picnic ) in a single cell is that it 'looks nice', I don't see a solution. If the full string needs to be in a single cell so that it can be used in further calculations, then this might fill the need:
    Accts table is unchanged.
    Main-1 is a duplicate of Main, with new formulas. Both formulas are entered in row 2, then filled down to row 6.
    Column A contains entered text (the acount number)
    B2: =IF(LEN(A)<1,"",IFERROR(" "&VLOOKUP(A,Accts :: A:B,2,FALSE),"<not found>"))
    This is a reduced version of the formula in C2 of Main in my earlier post. It returns the account description associated with the account No. in column A. I've left the  " "&  portion in the formula to attach a space to the beginning of the description for some separation between the right-aligned acct No. in A and the name in B (compare with the same information in the Accts table).
    C2: =A&B
    This concatenates the contents of A and the contents of B into the full string seen in column C. As the string is already displayed (in two cells) in columns A and B, this column could be hidden without affecting its ability to be referenced by a formula needing the full string.
    ef) With Numbers '09 (v2.x), a preference setting (Show auto-completion list in Table columns) would enable 'suggestions' for auto completion based on entries made in cells above the current cell and in the same column. Numbers 3 is a complete rewrite of the application, and several features have not (yet) made it into the new code. Provide Numbers Feedback, using the menu item of that name in the Numbers menu if you are using v3, and would find this feature useful.
    eg) Correct for Numbers '09, and I suspect true for Numbers 3 as well.
    You could investigate the use of a cell formatted as a Slider in conjunction with a Lookup table to accoplish this. There are some limitations: Sliders will generate sequential number values only, and do not allow for gaps in the series of numbers. You may find it difficult (I do) to select a specific number from a set of 200 using a slider.
    Stepper formatted cells are similar to Sliders, but step through the list of numeric values through the user clicking (or clicking and holding) one of a pair of up and down triangles. Each step is discrete, making it easier to hit a specific nuber, but each change also triggers a recalculation of the table. Stepping through a list of 250 values in one cell on a small table (Main-1) by holding the mouse button down on the up arrow took 75 seconds—a level of tedium similar to that of a 250 item pop-up menu. Provide Numbers Feedback.

  • Crystal reports 11: Values displayed in crystal report not showing in VB6

    Hi!
    I updated an existing lower version of crystal report 7 to crystal report 11. Changes are the following:
    1. sql query in VB6 to add fields
    2. sql query in crystal report to manipulate values and not use formula. crx11 doesn't allow summary/total in formula fields.
    3. report orientation
    4. additional fields to view
    5. font sizes, length, can grow properties, etc.
    When I tested it directly in crx 11, all fields/values are displaying correctly. When I integrated it in VB 6 using Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Library 11.0 and CR Viewer object, the field is blank.
    I've tried several checking like field suppressions, conditional suppressions, etc.
    By the way, I also have a report using a subrepot with conditional suppressions. Same thing is happening. The subreport data only displays the alloted space but does not show values in VB6.
    Thank you in advance for your help.
    Edited by: Naga01 on Jun 28, 2011 8:46 AM

    Thanks for your response.
    Before I read your response, I tried tweaking my reports and was able to resolve the issue.
    Steps taken to solve the issue are the following:
    a. Value not showing one field of four (4) reports.
    Solution: I created new ones and integrate it in VB 6. The values are now showing. Tweaked on the line object properties, got a problem with the extended line but solved it by adjusting the height of the detail section.
    b. Value not showing in sub-report.
    Solution: My report used a shared variable so I can pass the condition to my sub-report. I used the new reports and just pass a query during runtime. The values in the subreport is still not showing. I added a formula and called the value in it. Values in the subreport is now showing.
    I'll try to update the crystal reports version as suggested at a later time.

  • I am trying to average multiple cells including some blank cells.  How do I get numbers to assess a blank cell as zero and include that cell in the average?

    I am trying to average multiple cells including some blank cells.  How do I get numbers to assess a blank cell as zero and include that cell in the average?

    Hi rkcfizzle,
    Blanks
    Blanks = 0
    1
    1
    2
    2
    0
    3
    3
    2
    1.5
    AVERAGE ignores blank cells (Column A)
    Formula in Footer Cell A6
    =AVERAGE(A)
    If you want to include blank cells as zero, type this formula in B2 (and Fill Down)
    =IF(A2<>0,A2,0)
    Numbers 3 will change the formula to
    =IF(A2≠0,A2,0)
    Yeah, right! but that is Numbers 3.
    And the answer (6/4) is 1.5. Correct!

  • Drill Down are not giving correct values

    Hi
    We created sales Order values as a character and putting them in Rows and populating data by writing update rule. We created variables on calendar month in order to choose specific period of data in the query. For example if we need 02/2008 to 0/42008 which gives two months of data. When I drill down on Sales Order or billing document on the report it’s not giving variable interval data instead it’s pulling all the sales orders and billing documents in the Cube. With out drilling down the values are showing OK.  If I restrict with same period in the cube it's giving correct values
    Please let us know if you have any ideas.
    Thanks

    Aah, I guessed it correctly!
    Remove the local var of the Stop button & place the terminal itself inside the inner while loop & directly wire it to the conditional terminal of the outer while loop.

  • Group By reports with Serial Numbers

    hi,
    i am creating group by reports with serial numbers. i use the
    following code to generate the serial numbers using a formula
    column:
    function SNOFormula return Number is
    SNO NUMBER(5);
    begin
    SNO := :SNO + 1;
    RETURN(SNO);
    end;
    I am able to acheive the required output with the above code in
    the case of Normal Tablular reports. But in the case of Group by
    reports, the output goes as follows:
    for example:
    sno,groupno,empno
    1,g1,e1
    e2
    e3
    4,g2,e5
    e6
    Any way out?. pls help.
    Regards,
    Prabhu S

    create a summary column in the group . set the function to
    count. set the source to the group name. set the reset at value
    as report. create a field in the lay our editor left of the
    group field. set the source as the summary column. you will see
    the numbering.
    Ex :
    Query : Select * From Emp;
    Group Field : Deptno
    Summary Field : CS_Count
    Properties of Cs_Count - Function => Count
    Source => DEPTNO
    Reset At => Report
    Now create a field in the lay out editor left side of deptno
    field lets say "SEQ", set the source to Cs_Count.
    It will disply the serial number of the groups.

  • Constant Checking in Row Formula for Report Writer

    Dear All,
    Please advice what is the format to check a constant (string) in the row formula for Report Writer.
    Let's say if I want to check the cost center group -->
    If '&1KOSET' = 'ABC' then .... else......
    So, what is the format for ABC? Because if i put 'ABC' it will be treated as cell. But if i do not put the ' ', then i get system error.
    Thanks a million for your advice.
    Best Regards,
    CW

    Hi John Lee,
    The logic that you would want , can be implemented through a column set. That is, as per your logic written in the set, your column values differ.
    First in your set, keep your account number in the first set line. ie. 5000000.
    Then you enter the following formula in the second line of a set defined for a report column:
    IF u2018001u2019 > 5000000 THEN u2018001u2019 ELSE 0
    If the value in the first column (set line 001) is greater than 5000000, then this value displays in the second column; if the value in the first column is less than 1000, the value 0 displays in the second column.
    Revert if you need any additional help.

    Subin John

  • Formula for ascending column of numbers

    Hi,
    I never use Numbers so forgive a crazy simple question.
    I have a list of names and other details in Numbers. I'd like to add a column to the very left that, for each row, has a number corresponding to each "record".
    These numbers would ascend from 1, as each row ascends.
    What would the formula for this be? I hate to have to enter each manually. There are hundreds of records.
    Thanks so much for your help.

    Is this what you are wanting to do:
    Autofill cells
    You can quickly add the content from selected cells to adjacent cells without typing it. You can also fill a row or column with a logical sequence of data—for example, a series of digits, dates, or letters.
    Do any of the following:
    Autofill the content from one or more cells into adjacent cells: Select the cells with the content you want to copy, then move the pointer over a border of the selection until a yellow autofill handle appears. Drag the handle over the cells where you want to add the content.Any data, cell format, formula, or fill associated with the selected cells is added, but comments aren’t. Autofilling overwrites existing data with the value you’re adding.
    Autofill sequential content or patterns into adjacent cells: Type the first two items in the series in the first two body cells of the row or column you want to fill; for example, type A and B. Select the cells, move the pointer over a border of the selection until a yellow autofill handle appears, then drag the handle over the cells you want to fill.You can also autofill cells using a pattern of values. For example, if two selected cells contain 1 and 4, the values 7 and 10 are added when you drag over the adjacent two cells (values are incremented by 3).
    Autofilling doesn’t set up an ongoing relationship among cells in the group. After autofilling, you can change the cells independently of each other.
    When you autofill cells, any formulas that refer to those cells are updated automatically to use the new value.
