Cells change to #Value in Excel

I closed down Xcelsius 5.4.0.0. Opened it up again and saw that all the cells had been replaced by #Value. I can see there are formulas in the cells from what I had written originally but it shows #Value instead. The dashboard has 3 tabs and is using web services to connect. Can anyone help?

Hi Marya,
The "#Value" means that the formula is not able to calculate the result due to insufficient data. Check all the cells involved in the calculation to see if there is data in those cells.
Refresh the connection if needed.

Time character has changed values during excel download.

Dear friends,
We are using BI7.00. In one of our report, we use Enterprise portal for reporting, we have the time character in a seperate field. When the output of this report is exported to excel, the value which is getting populated to excel is getting changed.
For example :- the report is PM report which has malfunction start time in the report as a column, if the value in the report output is 04:20 , the value in excel is 09:50.
How this is possilble.
Prior to dowload, when we click the export to excel icon in EP , the message "Problems came up in the following areas during load" - Cell value -> this message is popped up and if you overcome this message, we have difference in values.
I have searched in this forum and was not able to find any suitable solution.
Experts help expected.

How can I change the value in a stepper cell

In Numbers 2.3 I was able to change the value in a stepper cell by highlighting the value and using the arrow keys to increase or decrease the value. This was a very easy way to input data. Numbers 3.0 when I do this is moves to another cell
Is there a way to get the use of the arrow keys to change the values in 3.0?

I use number to keep a running daily tally of the productivity of the members of my group. As each member performs certain tasks, all I had to do was click the up arrow and add to it. IE Jim made 4 widgets yesterday and then made 4 today, I would just hit the up 4 times total 8.
I guess the good news is when I upgraded to Numbers 3.0, It did not delete Numbers 2.3
I will continue to use 2.3 until it no longer works, I guess

Error trying to change the value property of a cell with decimals

This is a script question.
I’m using a system defaulting to Spanish, so the decimal delimiter is the comma.
During a script I need to change the property value of a cell multiplying it by -1. As an example, I want to change 1,25 into -1,25.
This is how try to do it:
tell application "Numbers" to tell document 1 to tell sheet 1 to tell table 1
set selection range to first cell
set mi_cell to (value of first cell of selection range) * -1
set value of first cell of selection range to mi_cell
end tell
The expected result is wrong provided that the original value of the cell has decimal value. Otherwise is correct.
See examples of what happen after running this piece of the script:
1,25 becomes -125,00 instead of -1,25
6,00 becomes -6,00 (in this case is correct)
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

This was described here in several scripts.
Before setting the value of a cell to a number or a date, the value must be coerced to a string.
It's the only way available to take care of localization features.
Your script must be

or better

Excel in Web layout: calculation of total after a cell change

Hi,
I'm using BW 3.5 with SEM BPS 4.0 and Excel in Web layouts. I can see the total rows/columns are not updating automatically after a cell change like it does in "normal html-web". User has to press refresh or save to update the totals. Any workarounds?

Hi Aki,
no I mean in <u>Excel</u>.
When editing the layout, on the third screen, in excel, go to Tools->Options.
Then click on the "Calculation" Tab.
Calculation needs to be set to automatic otherwise you have to refresh to update any results for a given formula.

How do I create a series of text frames using values from Excel list?

First of all, this is the very first script I'm attempting to write from scratch. I'm completely green at scripting, and I've picked up a few snippets from Adobe's ID scripting guide, but nothing has really stuck yet relating to this particular objective.
My supervisor keeps a master list of ad spaces, with the name of the account, how wide the space is, and how tall the space is, all in an Excel sheet. These spaces can number in the hundreds, and I am stuck manually drawing one rectangle for every space, which takes a very long time.
I'd like to create/have help creating a script that will take these values and "automagically" draw these spaces in the form of text frames, with the width (in columns) and the height (in inches) defined by the values in the master list, as well as the name of each account appearing in the subsequent text frames.
The script doesn't necessarily need to be able to pull the values straight from the Excel sheet; I can transfer the values to a support text file if needed, or directly into the script, changing it as I need it. A big thing (if it is not able to pull right from an Excel sheet) is that the number of spaces changes weekly, and so do the accounts, and the width and the height. Accordingly, it would be ideal if the values from the sheet could be changed easily, so as to create a new set of spaces as needed.
Positioning for each space is not crucial, only height and width. If they all appear on top of each other on the same page, that will be a result for me. The main idea is to not have to draw them all manually, one by one.
To me, this sounds like a tall order, but hopefully some experienced scripters out there can assist me, as I wish to become experienced as well.
So, the TL;DR version:
- Script needs to draw a series of text frames.
- Text frames dimensions need to be defined by width and height values from Excel sheet.
- Text frames must have account name as contents (from account names in Excel sheet).
- Accounts, width and height change every week in the Excel sheet, so must be relatively easy to exchange all of the values.
- The width values are on the Excel sheet as columns. It would be ideal if the script could convert those numbers into multiples of columns as needed.
- (Optional) Script can pull values directly from Excel sheet.
- (Optional) Script can define text frame fill color as gray. (If it works as I think it will, I could just select all the resulting text frames myself and set them all to gray at once... I'm not that lazy )
Thanks in advance to whomever can assist in any possible way, even if it is just a push in the right direction. This script will save 1-2 hours of tedium every week.

Sound like the perfect thing for InDesign Scripting.
I would copy the Excel contents into a text file, to get a format that is easily read from InDesign, and there will automatically be a TAB for each "cell" just using copy/paste.
Here is a piece of code, that you perhaps could go on with (adding variable to change pages and location on page, and other stuff).
The readFileLineByLine function, can be easily re-used with any function using "callback". You simply supply the function to it, that you want to be executed for every line of text that is read:

Changing slider value doesn't update chart

Hi Everyone,
I'm pretty new to Xcelsius, so correct me if I'm posting in the wrong place.
The simplified version of my problem is:
I have data in cell A1 and column B in excel format.
Values in column B are calculated via custom functions using value from A1.
I have a line graph based on the values of column B and a slider linked to A1...
When I manually change the value of A1 in the embedded excel panel, the graph visibly updates.
However when I use the slider in preview mode, the graph does not change at all.
I've double checked the ranges and min/max values, and they are correct.
Also, I've linked the value of the stuff in B directly to A1 (no functions), and the slider does work.
If anyone has any suggestions regarding this, I'd really appreciate it. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the custom functions, but then why does manually changing A1 give me the right results on the canvas?

Unfortunately I can't share the source as it contains sensitive information.
That is why I tried to simplify the problem in my explanation.
In reality, it is actually a graph based on a table of values. And this table gets updated via 8-9 variables. The thing is, the sliders work for all other variable inputs. I double checked, and the input cell in question contains no formulas.
I believe I figured out the root of the problem. One of the calculation steps involve the function TRANSPOSE, which isn't supported. I thought this wouldn't be a problem as the table values get updated anyway. Are there any ways around this?

The first thing I found was BEx API reference for BW 3.5, but I wasn't able to make these functions work. After all I found this code:

Is it possible to reference one cell from the value of another e.g.
value of b1 = value of c(value of a1)
So if a1 = 3 then b1 = c3, if a1 = 5 then b1 = c5.

First u have to create a event(VALIDATE) to do the validation.
Inside the event,
1. First get the current index where user has pointed the curson
2. Once u get the index read the internal table with index value.
3. Now u can compare the col1 and col2 values and populate the error message.

Is the value right aligned? If you pass any whole number or decimal number values to the excel sheet, it will be displayed in right aligned format in excel sheet. What is the type of the value that you are passing to the excel sheet.

Named Set doesn't show aggregated values in excel while browsing

Hi Maruthi you just need a simple change in the Query .
You need to include the All level and try using TopCount() function instead of the sequential FILTER/ORDER

Changing column value on every row in invoice matrix

I'm trying to change the value of the GLaccount column for every row in the invoice matrix when the user changes the document owner. The code seems to work for the first row but then on other rows I get a message that says the item can't be changed because it can't get focus. I know there are similar posts on the forum already, but nothing that solves this problem that I can see.

I don't know if this is of use, but here's the code I used to set the project code value on each row of a marketing document through the UI (which is similar to what you are looking to do). The Project Code column needs to be visible and editable for this to work:

Count function displaying values in excel but not in Guage

Hi all,
I'm using Count function to count the no of rows at run time and trying to bind this value to a Gauge and input text components.
After Preview, the Gauge and input text components are showing value "0" but when I take a snapshot of the dashboard I can see the value in excel file.
What could be the reason ?

I'm also using Xcelsius 2008 SP2. When I use static data in excel it works fine, but the data in my Xcelsius is dynamic, using QAAWS as the data source developed on SAP BW. Count function has been used to do the calculations and when that particular cell is mapped as the data source for a Gauge or Text component it is showing "0" instead of the actual value.
Snapshot of the dashboard shows the value in the excel.
