Center path in text?

Is there a way to get one path in the center of text without having to go in with the pen tool?  I have an embroidery brush that I want to stroke the path with but I only need one center stroke and not a full outline path.

That's not what I am trying to do.  I need the stroke down the middle of the letter for the brush to work.

  • Replacement path with text variable

    Hi experts,
My client requirement is " when he enters the current year or current day then it should display the Description of that particular year r month r day."
Can anyone explain me in detail how to create replacement path with text variable on FISCAL YEAR?
Hope will solve my issue soon.
    Thanks in advance
    Jani Sk.

    Hi,
goto the properties of your KF and click on the variable button side to that of the description field and click on new/Create option.Enter the technical name description for the text variable and select Replacement path as the Processing type and in the nxt screen select Fiscal year as the replacement variable and in nxt screen  specify as Key and provide offset values if necessary and click on finish.now select the variable by clickin on the variable button next to the description field.it comes after the description of the KF.Now run the query.
    Thanks,
    Sandeep

  • Cant center my navigation text at the bottom of the page

I am trying to center the navigation text as the bottom of my page but I can't seem to do it without centering all the rest of my content. I am not sure how to isolate the navigation text. I tried highlighting the text and making a new rule, I tried both ID and class but it did not center the text. If I use html I can center the text but it also centers the rest of the content. Do I have to place the text in a div?  Also beneather the navigation text is a rule (horizontal line) and a copyright line that I also want to center as well. I plan on reusing this grouping of navigation text, horizontal rule, and copyright text on all my pages as a footer. I have included the html & css code below. Thanks Dan

  • Type on a path ignores text wrap around objects?

Indesign CS3: type on a path ignores text wrap around objects?
is this true? or do I have a setting that I'm missing?
    thanks.

Seems that it does, and in CS4 as well.
What are you doing with type on a path that requires it to honor wrap? Could you do it by cutting the path and threading?

  • Place in the center the column texts

    Hi BW knowledge broadcasters,
I am looking for the method to place in the center the column texts. It seems it could be in the css implemented in the WAD web template. But I don't know neither for the queries built directly with the Query Designer.
    Thanks in advance.
    Geo

One problem you will encounter is that the column headers and the rows have the same class associated to them and if you set this to center, your rows will also be centered.  You will need to either use the Table API to change the class of just the column headers or possibly with javascript.  To find the class, run the query in the web, right-click and select view source, search for the text in the columns and find the associated class referenced in the HTML.
Here is a link to all of the styles in the standard BWReports.css:
    <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bw33/helpdata/en/3f/ca453afbf37b54e10000000a11402f/content.htm">http://help.sap.com/saphelp_bw33/helpdata/en/3f/ca453afbf37b54e10000000a11402f/content.htm</a>
This is specific to BW 3.x.  In 2004s, the styles are now driven from the Portal theme.
    Thanks,

  • Can't paste text nor paths and text

    What is wrong?
I have a layer with some paths and lines of text.
I copied some of the paths and text and tried to paste in another layer or document; the paths are not pasted and all the text becomes a single line.
When I copied only the paths, it is pasted correctly.
If I copied only the text and tried to paste in another layer or document, all the text becomes a single line.
If I drag the selection from one layer to another using the panel, it works. If I drag the selection from the artboard to another document, it works.
But these operations sometimes are not convenient.
What I would like is to copy the items, target a layer in another document and paste there.
With a large document with dozens of layers and a lot of text the drag and drop solution is not feasible.

    Monika
You hit the nail on the head. The problem was the "FormatMatch" clipboard extension for Mac, that changes all copied text to plain text.
    Thanks.

  • Reference a Shape Path as Text Path

    Hi!
Is it possible to reference a shape path from a shape layer as the path for the text to follow?
    regards
    Henning

I think you simply want to use a shape layer's path as a path for your text to follow.
If there is no scaling applied to the shape layer then you can copy the path by setting a keyframe for it then start a mask on your text layer using the pen tool and putting the first point anywhere and then doing a paste. You can now reveal the text layer's properties and set the path options to the new path. This works best if you use the pen tool to draw your shape layer path, then add a text layer using New>Text Layer and typing the text. If you just click in the frame and start typing or you move or scale your shape layer you will run into position problems because the paths will not line up.
If you use the shape tools (rectangle, polygon, etc.,) you will have to convert the shape to a path before you start. You can do this by right clicking on the path. Here again, if your path is not in the center of the comp you'll have position problems that you will have to adjust. The most efficient workflow if you were using the shape tools would be to hold down the Alt/Option key before you start dragging out your shape so that it creates a bezier path instead of a shape. This would solve position problems. If you have already created the shape layer with a shape tool then center it in the comp and parent the shape layer to the text layer so you can reposition them both later.

  • How do I center align the text in my text boxes if they are currently right aligned?

I created a client questionnaire in Word and then turn it into a PDF and created the text boxes necessary. The problem I am having in Adobe XI Pro is that I want all of the text in my text boxes to be centrally aligned rather than left aligned. However, when creating and editing the text boxes, I see no option to help me do so. When clients fill out the form it looks messy because the information that the fill in tables in not centrally aligned, so it makes my tables look poorly organised. Help would be much appreciated, thank you.

In Form Edit mode, right-click the field(s) and select Properties - Options, and under Alignment select "Center".

  • Help needed to make a compound path of text in rectangle

Hello, I hope some one will really solve my problem.
Im trying to make a compound path (text inside a rectangle). I had done this previously with success but now the whole shape and text is showing same color. Although text should be transparent! And now due to the similarity in colors i cannot see any font.
I don't know why this is happening?
I made outlines of text, ungrouped it, released their compound paths, placed all fonts and rectangle in seperated layer and then made it a compound  path.
Please let me know if im following all the steps.
Also, please forgive my bad English as im not native.

    adobied,
As you know now, Larry answered the Compound question while you were still typing.
We do have quite a few cross postings in this busy forum, especially at this time of day with natives present both over there and over here.
You can use Opacity Masks for a whole range of purposes, and they can act as (inverted) Clipping Masks, and also for partial/varying transparency.
In this case, the suggested use corresponds to an inverted Clipping Mask.
I quite understand your wish to have the Compound under control, and I believe that is sorted with the advice from Larry.

  • How do you center align a Text Field box?

The center align tool is grayed out.

    Hi,
Sorry, formsCentral currently does not support alignment of the actual field box.  You can select the different alignment choices for the text label of the field.
    Thanks,
    Lucia

  • Insert File Path into Text Field

I am trying to create a text filed at the bottom of a form document that will automatically input the file path (e.g.. C\:Folder\File) of the document itself after the document is saved.  I've looked at a few Scripts but nothing seems to be working.  I'm assuming it will look something like this on the "postSave" option:
    this.rawValue = event.target.path.replace(event.target.documentFileName, "");
I am a very novice programmer so I have no idea if this is even close to right.

Apparently some of my search parameters were off.  This question has already been answered before.  If anyone comes looking here, this is a link to the page with the answer.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4007317#4007317
    Enjoy.
FYI: here is the code I used for the text field.
    Inspection.TextPage.Bottom.End.Directions.File::preSave - (JavaScript, client)
    this.rawValue = event.target.path

  • Center custom boolean text

Hey everybody, just a quick cosmetic question.  I have a customized OK button that has two lines of text when false, and only one line of text when true.  I'd like to center the one line of text vertically on the button, but it seems like it has to stay on the same text lineup as the false case.  Is there a quick way to do this?  If I have to get into custom picture controls and stuff, I can ignore the problem.  It's purely cosmetic preference.

    Hi all,
I came across the same problem and want to  describe it a bit more precisely. When I change the boolean text in the value change event of this button, I notice this unwanted behaviour. But when I set the Bool- text in another frame of the event structure, all works fine. It is the same, if I unset the "Lock Front Panel..." checkmark in the event- structure dialog. For better understanding I attached a example- VI.
Another point is illustrated in the VI as well, whenever I add a "Panel Close?"- filter event, the terminal "Discard" is always shrinked. This seems to be a bug too.See picture below:
    Btw. I use Lv 8.6.1.

P.S. I "solved" the problem by using the "Strings[4]"- Property, there this problem doesn't occur.

  • Separating strokes & offset paths from text?

I need to outline large titles to be output to a large format inkjet printer with a contour cut on a CNC router. I often need to create strokes then convert them to outlines or sometimes create offset paths so that I can use that layer as a through cut (contour guide/line). Sometimes it involves having a clipped image that is outlined and with an offset path for the cut line which may lie in the middle of the stroke/outline. So there could be several lines around an image. I need to separate all of these lines from each other so that I can put them on their own layers for production purposes. I would also need to separate the outlined stroke if I am clipping an image into the main text. Otherwise the image will clip out to the edge of the stroke. If I can separate all of this I can work much easier in layers. Is there a way to easily separate or disassociate each line from one another? I've tried the release compound paths groups etc. None of these seem to be effective. I have to go through a lot of steps and time to manually do these tasks.

It was suggested that I provide an example to illustrate my question. So here it is. LINK:  http://www.sendspace.com/file/7gqfn3
Old habits die hard. Over the past 20+ years I have worked extensively with vector art. Much of it in app called Flexisign. Which has/had great features for working with vectors. This was before layers ever existed. So some of my thinking is still locked into old ways of working with a single layer. But what I liked about it was that I could easily separate, either by ungrouping or un-compounding, do what I needed to do then re-compound etc. Outlines, offset paths, were never locked or permanently attached to another component. Every path created was an actual hard vector line that I could easily manipulate. Strokes did not even exist so they were made with outlines, inlines, etc. In the illustration attached, I could have done all of this in seconds on one layer. Although I could move things forward or backwards and lock colors individually (precursor to layers I guess). I would start with the text and do multiple strokes or outlines as needed then separate them and group or compound as needed. I'm finding it difficult to separate some paths onto it's own so that I can eliminate or alter various paths.
Once I figured out how I could do it Illustrator, it does not appear that complex at all. But it takes a lot more steps than I am accustomed to. And I have to think in terms of layers more often to solve some of these issues. But as you'll see at the end, I still wish I could simply create a path separate it from the the rest of the artwork. I'm thinking that the Offset Path tool would be idea for making my cut line except that I cannot separate it.
Anyway, I created a sample of what I was trying to do. These are the steps I used to make my project. I have not had a chance yet to try out some of the suggestions, but I can see already that they use techniques I have never tried and in some cases even heard of. But wow, I am amazed at the help and suggestions. Thank you all.
