CF form field question

I have:
<cfinput name="OpenFoil" readonly="#iif(url.e eq
0,de('yes'),de('no'))#"
type="checkbox" value="1" checked="yes"
onClick="optionFoil(this.form)">
I would like to check the box if url.e is 0. When I try the
above code,
I can still check the box, and uncheck it, its not read
only...... Will
this not work the way I want?

Hello BKBK,
Ok, its odd, if I have:
<cfinput name="OpenFoil" #iif(url.e eq
0,de('disabled'),de(''))# type="checkbox"
value="1" checked="yes" onClick="optionFoil(this.form)">
I get:
Invalid CFML construct found on line 280 at column 61.
ColdFusion was looking at the following text:
If I have:
<cfinput name="OpenFoil" <cfoutput>#iif(url.e eq
0,de('disabled'),de(''))#</cfoutput>
type="checkbox" value="1" checked="yes"
onClick="optionFoil(this.form)">
I get:
Invalid token c found on line 280 at column 62.
So, where have I gone wrong????

  • Building a Form (Field Question)

    I have my form designed with several numeric fields. Here's what I need to do. NumericField3 is at the top of my form. NumericField11 is at the bottom. I'd like to be able to have anything that is typed into NumericField3 to be automatically populated to NumericField11. I don't need any calcuations or anything, just have the data that is typed into NumericField3 automatically pop down into NumericField11. Is this possible? If so how?

    Hi,
    Rename NumericField11 to NumericField3.
    In the hierarchy view you will see the two objects, NumericField3[0] and NumericField3[1]. Now select one of these, doesn't matter which one, and go to the Object > Binding tab.
    Set the binding to 'global'.
    This way what ever is typed into either field will automatically appear in the other one - no script involved.

  • Acrobat XI Windows 7 - unable to (copy and) paste form fields to a different pdf.

    To maintain a consistent appearance and function in the forms I create for various departments, I copy a few form fields  (text, checkboxes) from an unrelated Acrobat PDF. Then I paste those fields into a different PDF document that I am making fillable.
    I do this because Acrobat does not allow setting a default for certain attributes when creating form fields, i.e. an unchecked scroll option, a default font other than Helvetica (in Acrobat 8, 9, and X). Plus it is time-saving to copy and paste fields that are the same in another PDF, like name, address, phone. etc.
    We just updated to Acrobat XI and Windows 7 and now I cannot paste copied fields onto a different PDF.
    Using "replace pages" is not applicable as I am pasting to an entirely different form and copying form fields with the settings I use.
    Is this a glitch or is something new that was not in Acrobat 8, 9, and X?
    Also, question regarding this forum entry -  http://forums.adobe.com/message/5638333#5638333 - which is somewhat different from my current question.
    The PDF creator could not paste copied fields on other pages of the same PDF. Was this ever resolved so that copy and paste worked as it has for the last 3 versions of Acrobat?
    Thanks!
    Joanie

    Gilad:  You're right: when the fields are different, such as a checkbox and a text field, and you try to title them the same, Acrobat gives you a message. I received no messages, the field names are not the same or I missed one and Acrobat is no longer messaging about it.
    My question is different. Acrobat XI will not let me paste any field copied from a different PDF.  I've been doing that for 5 years in three different versions.  Maybe Acrobat XI has a new process for that, which I could not find in Acrobat help. Maybe it's because all forms now have extended rights automatically in Acrobat XI and there is another method to copy common fields to other PDFs.
    Any thoughts about the new Acrobat XI? It's different in many good ways, but different.
    Thanks for your ideas.

  • Expanding Text to fit expanding form field

    I am new to using LiveCycle Designer and have embedded some text fields in paragraphs which are dynamic and adjust but now I am having a hard time getting the text within the paragraph to adjust to the form field. Is there a way I can do this? Sorry if this is a simple question.

    what you need is flooting field in the running text. You can use as many flooting fields as you need in text. Focus in that direction.

  • What are the limit of Form Fields?

    Hi all
    I'm quite a new user to Acrobat Form Fields so please forgive any blantant errors...
    A client of mine bascially wants to edit and produce his own versions of posters and ads that I've produced for him.
    Another agency has already told him that it can be done by using Form Fields so now looking into this avenue for him.
    My experience of fields in the past is that are quite limited and should only really be used in areas where information is required - answers to questions, names and addresses etc, etc.
    But, my client wants to actually edit headings and replace logos!!!
    The pic below sort of illustrates the situation....
    Would I be able to set up field that allow the heading to be changed?
    By changed I mean would he be able to add substantially more text (as is a clients want) and thus edit the size of it to fit the space?
    And what about the logo? Would that be able to be changed?
    On the face of it I imagine it's a big fat 'No' and the only solution would be to set up some sort of web based site.
    But I need to explore the possibilies of an Acrobat based file first.
    cheers in antisipation
    Andy

    Text fields can be set up to allow Rich Text Formatting, which means that a user is able to select a font, change the font size, color, and other properties. Logos can be changed by setting up a button (with a layout other than Label only) and using the buttonImportIcon method. The latter allows the user to select a page from another PDF as the source of the button icon, or with Acrobat an image or other type of document that Acrobat knows how to convert to PDF can be used. If your client only has Reader, he would have to use Reader 11 for the buttonImportIcon method to work, and he's only be able to import from PDF, not directly from other formats. But it's fairly easy these dats to convert to PDF without Acrobat.
    The JavaScript that you'd use in the button's MouseUp event would be:
    // Import an icon into this button
    event.target.buttonImportIcon();
    If the PDF will then be distributed, the text fields and button should be set to read-only so the end-users don't mess with it. If this needs to be done with Reader, you can use another JavaScript.

  • Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional-Fillable Form Fields Disappeared

    Urgent Reply Needed --- After spending from 3 hours creating Fillable Form Fields - which I have done many times - the most recent form I just completed had all forms fields except one missing when I reopened the Adobe Acrobat document. How did this happen? How can I prevent it happening again as I have never seen this happen before?
    thanks - Bonnie

    Bonnie,
    You'll get a much quicker answer asking this question on the regular Acrobat User-to-User forum. This forum is Acrobat 3D Feature specific, and as such, only has people looking for 3D related issues. You'll get a much quicker answer on the other forum.

  • Updating form field Acrobat 9.0

    I'm programming in Visual Basic and I'm able to read a form field but I when I try to update it's value, nothing happens. This code works fine in Acrobat 7.0.
    set f =jso.getobject("fieldname")
    f.value = "New Value"
    The field updates fine in Acrobat 7.0, but does nothing in Acrobat 9.0. Acrobat 7.0 has been uninstalled on the machine and only Acrobat 9.0 is installed. I can read the existing field values, but the code line doesn't work in 9.0. What am I doing wrong?

    I don't see any documentation like that except in Life Cycle and I need to change the fields programmatically in VB. I ran across this discussion you had with another poster that is basically the same question I had. Can you give me a link or something?

  • Actions tab for form field properties

    This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/pro/using/WSDFC888F9-219C-4b55-90E6-D316E2A85F08.w.htm l

    I am working in Acrobat. I trying to create a form dealers will complete and submit. There will be no licensing issues. I have created a button and named it SUBMIT. In the Actions tab I have selected “Submit a form.” I have entered “mailto:[email protected]” under “Enter a URL for this link”. I have also selected “PDF The complete document” as the Export Format.
    I saved the file but when I go to the Preview Mode and click the new “Submit” button, I am asked to “Save PDF as” from a menu. Even if I rename the file and click save, nothing happens. I am back in the Preview mode. If I click “Submit” again, I get the same “Save PDF as” routine.
    I am baffled.

  • How to create form fields in Adobe Professional version 8

    Hello,
    I have been trying for some time now to get a form in place. I have used an existing form and I am working in Adobe Professional version 8.
    I went to tools, forms and than I thought I had to click on text field tool. But than it asks me to name the text field. I want to keep the name fields blank and have them completed by the persons I will send it to (or actually this form will be posted online). The other persons should be able to open, complete, save and return it by email.
    please advise me what to do.
    Your help section brings me all the time to the Life Cycle which I think is not appropriate for the purpose I need it.

    Thank you for your advises but I have the impression my initial question is still not being answered.
    I have tried to create the fields in Adobe Pro 8 version, via forms, text field tool and named all the fields.
    Than I saved it and enabled the usage rights for Adobe Reader but opening this file from another computer in Adobe Reader, it allows me only to add comments and markups in the document, not filling out the form in the form fields I thought I created before?
    Now what to do? Did I do something wrong with the creation of form fields, can you please describe the exact path/steps to take?
    Appreciate your prompt reply.

  • Defining fillable form fields in IDCS4

    2 questions:
    Is it possible to define fillable form fields in ID that will export to PDF?I create a lot of custom proposals and would like to avoid having to define the fields over and over again in Acrobat.
    Also, some clients tell me that they can't fill in the form with Acrobat Reader. When I enable the PDF for commenting in reader, all the form fields disappear, except, oddly, for the signature field. Using Acrobat Pro 9.2. Help with this will also be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    1. No. But the auto form creation tools in Acrobat are excellent.
    2. Don't make the form commentable. By using the distribute form command in
    Acrobat everything is done automatically.

  • Form fields in Indesign CC

    Good day all
    I have a question about form fields in InDesign CC. I have a book, and in the book are some questions that need answers to be submitted to a moderator. Can only certain text fields in a document be submitted at one time or can only an entire form be submitted?
    Hope you have some good news for me.
    Stefan

    Thanks for the feedback, but I know that the submit button will submit the entire form - my question is: is there any way to submit just part/s of it. Think of a workbook full of assessments at different sections in the book, will there be a way of submitting only parts of the book (each assessment on its own)?

  • I need to verify that Acrobat Standard XI has the ability to add a digital signature form field to an existing PDF file.

    Can anyone answer this question for me?
    As in, a PDF that has already been created in a different version and has established form fields. Can I open it in Standard and add a digital signature to a field or do I have to use Pro, or does the form need to be recreated? The comparison chart is kind of unclear about this.

    Yes. It was possible in Acrobat X Standard and I do not think it was removed in Acrobat XI Standard. It does not matter with which version your PDF was originally created. You can always add fields.

  • How Do I Display A Hidden Form Field On Executing A Button (Yes Again But In More Depth)

    Hi,
    Yes, I just asked this question but was not specific enough. Ive looking for code within a JavaScript that will enable a hidden form field within a PDF to be displayed.
    What I am attempting to do is to display form field 'Text1" when the button is pushed executing a check of the system date. Im looking for the code to execute the following:
    If the system date is equal to or greater then '2009/02/01' (yyyy,mm,dd), then display 'Text1'.
    I'm using Adobe pro 8.
    Thank You for any help.

    You could so something like the following in the Mouse Up event of the button:
    // Get system date
    var Now = new Date();
    // Get cutoff date
    var End = util.scand("yyyy/mm/dd", "2009/02/01");
    // Set the visibilty of field Text1 based on the date
    getField("Text1").display = (Now > End) ? display.visible : display.hidden;

  • Form Field Appear on Value Entered

    I am running Coldfusion 9 and building a website using Dreamweaver from CS5.
    Is there a way to make a form field appear only if a certain value was entered into the previous form field? If so how? For example I am creating a registration page and one of the form fields is "Property Type" where the user can choose from "Residential, Commercial, Other" from a drop down menu and if the user chooses "Commercial" I want an additional field to pop up for the user to enter a value in "Company Name"??? Thanks for your help

    WolfShade,
    My apologizes for posting this question in the wrong forum. Since I have already started the discussion here I will ask you my question here still. I put in the lines of code you suggested however when I go to the drop down list and select "Commercial" no text input box appears for the Company Name field. If you have a min I will post my code below. Your help is very much appreciated. I should let you know I also tried adding the on change to the actual option tag for commerical i.e <option onChange...>Commercial</option> and still did not appear. I put the work area in red text hope it helps.
