Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional-Fillable Form Fields Disappeared

Urgent Reply Needed --- After spending from 3 hours creating Fillable Form Fields - which I have done many times - the most recent form I just completed had all forms fields except one missing when I reopened the Adobe Acrobat document. How did this happen? How can I prevent it happening again as I have never seen this happen before?
thanks - Bonnie

Bonnie,
You'll get a much quicker answer asking this question on the regular Acrobat User-to-User forum. This forum is Acrobat 3D Feature specific, and as such, only has people looking for 3D related issues. You'll get a much quicker answer on the other forum.

  • Change the "Instructions Line" in Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro for fillable forms

I have created a fillable form in Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro - Currently the Instructions say "Please fill out the following form" - I need to change it to "Fill out highlighted fields, choose "Print Form", and follow Instructions on printed Form".  I don't know how to customize the default instructions.

You don't have the ability to change that. If you did, it could be used to spoofing purposes. You can display instructions in a popup dialog or button on the page that when clicked hides itself.

  • Fillable form fields for an Employee Performance Review ?

So i've designed our Employee Perfomance Review in InDesign, exported the PDF and created form fields in Acrobat 9. The goal is to have a PDF that contains fillable form fields for our yearly reviews that can be filled out, saved, and re-opened and edited again in Adobe Reader. They will need to be edited by several people from different computers.
The problem i'm running into is this: Each employee will have at least two supervisors contributing to their reviews. So, this form needs to be able to be edited by one person and saved, then forwarded to the next person who would in turn add their comments. The second reviewer would then save their information, send it back to the first reviewer, who would finalize the document, save it digitally and print it out so we would have a hard copy.
The main goal is to have a document that can be passed back and forth and remain editable.
I can use the Distribute Form option in Acrobat, but this information needs to be accessable by the completer of the form and HR only, and not myself. Using Distribute form would require HR to purchase a version of Acrobat to distribute the forms and access the information...either that or they would have to use my computer to distribute the form and recieve responses. This still doesn't solve my main problem. From everything I have seen, the distributed forms can only be submitted, and not saved or passed around.
If the PDF is sent out as an attachment, it can be filled out and printed to PDF to save it digitally, but it can't be edited again in Reader.
I'm looking for a way to utilize Acrobat for this, and not resort to using Word or some other program. The reason we upgraded to Acrobat 9 in the first place was because we thought it would make this process work. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    aaardvrk

Thanks. It looks like we're covered under 15.12.3(b) since this document will only be distributed to about 10 supervisors. I interpret this to mean that we can use this document as many times as we like as long as the total number of Users (supervisors) doesn't exceed 500.
"For any unique Extended Documnent, you may either (a)... ; or (b) Deploy such Extended Document to no more than five hundred (500) unique recipients without limits on the number of times you may extract information from such Extended Document returned to you filled-in by such Recipients."
    Thanks again.

I have been creating forms in InDesign and pulling into Acrobat XI Pro to do form fields. My client would like to fill in the PDF form using Reader, save under a different name locally on their device, and redistribute. The problem I have is that, sometimes, they want to redistribute the form as Read Only. I know how to flatten the form on a mobile device, but uncertain how they can do that with a PC or Mac using Adobe Reader. I looked at FormsCentral thinking there might be a solution going that route, but don't believe there is. Any advice?

FormsCentral won't help with flattening a form. You could set up the form in Acrobat so that the fields are set to read-only, using JavaScript. Not quite the same as flattening but it's the best Reader can do.
Note that when Reader is used to e-sign a document, it gets flattened, but this won't be possible if you need to Reader-enable the form and under certain other conditions.

  • Defining fillable form fields in IDCS4

    2 questions:
Is it possible to define fillable form fields in ID that will export to PDF?I create a lot of custom proposals and would like to avoid having to define the fields over and over again in Acrobat.
Also, some clients tell me that they can't fill in the form with Acrobat Reader. When I enable the PDF for commenting in reader, all the form fields disappear, except, oddly, for the signature field. Using Acrobat Pro 9.2. Help with this will also be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Michele

    1. No. But the auto form creation tools in Acrobat are excellent.
    2. Don't make the form commentable. By using the distribute form command in
    Acrobat everything is done automatically.

  • I've created a PDF form using Adobe acrobat. I created the forms from a PDF that I made using pages

I've created a PDF form using Adobe acrobat. I created the forms from a PDF that I made using pages and word on Mac running Mountain lion. How do I allow the user of the form to insert JPEG files when filling out the form and how do I allow the user to add more fields or groups of fields as needed.

The type of form yo're describing is possible if you create it in LiveCycle Designer. It may also be possible in Acrobat, but there are certain restrictions. The type of form is known as a dynamic XFA form. LiveCycle Designer is not available on the Mac, so you'd have to install the software on a Windows machine and learn how to create this type of form. The LiveCycle Designer forum here is a good resource for getting more help.
Reader 11 now supports creating new pages using templates with a form that you create in Acrobat (Acroform). This requires some JavaScript programming. It also adds support for using a button to display a page from a PDF, which can be an image or anything else a PDF can be. So the user would click a button, be prompted to import a page from an existing PDF, and the button (or a different button) displays it as its icon. This would require the user to convert the image to PDF first, which is relatively easy these days (e.g., using Preview on the Mac, or Word on Mac/Windows). This too involves a bit of JavaScript programming, but it's very simple and straightforward.

  • Can not add a space in a fillable form field

I have a user that can not add a space in a fillable form field. They are using Adobe reader XI. Others can add the spaces needed to add data to the form fields. I have verified that Scroll log text is enabled. Any idea?

Apple released this article with troubleshooting steps that should solve the problem.

  • Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional in Macbook Pro

After installation of Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional, running the software freezes the whole system. Updating of Adobe Acrobat Professional to version 7.07 doesn't help.. Full reinstallation of Mac OSX doesn't help. Running disk utility doesn't help either. Problems occurred after installing of Apple Security Update 2006-003(intel). Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional can run smoothly before installing Apple Security Update 2006-003(intel). Any comments?

Actually, there are two major hiccups out there. This link indicates Quicktime's update is the source of the inability to restart machines, fixed by deleting startup items, I believe.
    http://www.macworld.com/news/2006/05/24/cs2quicktime/index.php
Accrobat's freezing the system is a result of the Security Update, fixed by rolling back to a pre-Security Update state using Archive & Install re-installation of the OS. Archive & Install does not erase your files or network settings.
Apple has released two products that fouled these systems. Bad Quality Assurance I think.

    hi tuggerose
i think it is bad new for you. if it's any consilation i went through the same thing when i loaded mountain lion when it first came out. i think the problem is that mountain lion is a pure 64bit operating system and the software you have is 32bit. earlier os's were able to emulate 32bit but the new system does not. the answer is new software. i did it and it cost me a load of money and much angst so your not alone.

    Kglad,
Thank you for your answer.  However, when I follow the link in the instructions for the English version, it brings me to this URL. http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2%5Fdownloads.  The list of downloads does not include Acrobat Pro 7.0 When I download, this is the Acrobat Standard version, as titled.

    Hi joej49728017,
I am so sorry for the inconvenience caused. However this is just because Adobe Acrobat 7.0 is an outdated version & the now the activation server for it does not exist.
Please refer to the following KB doc.  Error: "Activation Server Unavailable" | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3
The above link will help you to  install a special version that does not require activation.
In case you further need any help, please let us know. We will be more than happy to help you.
