CF scheduler erroneously runs ALL scheduled tasks simultaneously !

Hi everyone,
Our scheduler.log (attached) shows that ALL 13 tasks have been activated simultaneously at the same time daily, in addition to the correct staggered scheduled times.  Furthermore the name of the thread in the scheduler log is "MAIN", quite different from the names of all correctly initiated schedules.
I have noted on the net a bug of this sort in previous versions of CF but not in CF8 or 9.
Has anyone encountered such a situation with a rogue thread starting up all scheduled tasks simultaneously ?
We would certainly appreciate any help here.
Cheers Rod
Extract of our scheduler.log attached !

Strange, I use the scheduler regularly and have never seen
this behavior. I think you might be on the right track in emailing
you upon failures. You may also want to email you upon success as
well, at least until this problem gets resolved.
A scheduled task is just another user session as far as your
application is concerned so you can use specify a CFERROR template.
You can also use the output from the scheduled template as a log
and in the cf scheduler admin specify to log the output to a file.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

  • How to create a schedule to run once?

    I am having some problems getting a schedule to run only once. If I leave the repeat_interval empty, the schedule does not run at all. The documentation explains all the options for setting the repeat frequency, but it does not explain how to run it only once at a set time/date. I have created a user interface to allow the users to create their own schedules and I'd rather not do something like a "yearly" interval with an end date of next week. I need the generic solution.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Ravi,
    Thanks for your reply!
    I have just discovered something very interesting! best explained by example:
    (I might log an SR through metalink too. I'll be sure to update this thread with the outcome...)
    I create 3 schedules and 3 simple jobs:
    schedule 1 - start_date in 2 minutes time (eg. 11:30:00), repeat_interval => null
    schedule 2 - start_date in 2 minutes, 20 seconds time (eg. 11:30:20), repeat_interval => 'FREQ=DAILY'
    schedule 3 - start_date in 2 minutes, 40 seconds time (eg. 11:30:40), repeat_interval => null
    jobs 1, 2 and 3 just insert a row into a table through a PL/SQL block.
    My test results are as follows:
    1. The first time these schedules are created only schedule 2 runs. Schedules 1 and 3 never run.
    2. I drop and re-create all schedules and jobs, (adjusting the time to a few minutes in the future) and re-submit the schedules and jobs and they all run. I can continue this as many times as I like now and the repeat_interval of null will now work fine.
    3. re-start the 10gR2 database.
    4. re-create the schedules and jobs and only schedule 2 runs again. Schedules 1 and 3 never run. (I'm back at step 1!! I can reproduce this problem anytime by following these steps)
    My script is below:
    declare
    start_datetime__w timestamp(3) with time zone;
    repeat_interval__w varchar2(200);
    begin
    * REPEAT INTERVAL NULL TEST
    * TIM_SCHED_2_1 - no repeat interval
    * TIM_SCHED_2_2 - a repeat interval
    * TIM_SCHED_2_3 - no repeat interval (identical to TIM_SCHED_2_1)
    * Results on my 10gR2 database (Redhat Enterprise Linux 4.4) are:
    * job 2 will always run
    * jobs 1 and 3 will only run after the successful run of job2 AND jobs 1 and 3 have been re-created
    * Why?
    * It seems the scheduler needs a wakeup call!!!
    * test table: create table tim (col1 varchar2(30), col2 date);
    -- Cleanup previous jobs:
    --dbms_scheduler.drop_job      (job_name      => 'TIM_JOB_2_1');

  • How to find and export all Scheduled Tasks in Domain with multiple servers.

    Hi everyone,
    I have been given a task of finding all of Scheduled Tasks in the Domain on all of the servers. So far I have manage to create a script that will pull out all Scheduled Tasks from one Server, in this case Domain Controller.
    Butt in my company are more than 150 servers so I am looking for a script that can connect to AD (or LDAP), than to certain OUs, then pull out Server list and than query them for Schedule Task. I have found already some scripts online and tried to adjust
    them butt they simply didnt work.
    I am new in the company and still learning about the system,  this is my first real task so any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Just a tip that I found after running across this myself - if you run a
    Get-AdComputer -filter {operatingsystem -like '*server*'} | ft name | out-file servers.txt
    and then save the output to a text file, it may look good, but there may be white space at the end of the computer names. Make sure that only the computernames are in the file and then the script works great.
    http://absoblogginlutely.net
    This would happen because you are trying to get around the format of the output.  When you want the raw value do it this way;  it is faster and easier:
    Get-AdComputer -filter {operatingsystem -like '*server*'} |
         %{$_.Name } | out-file servers.txt
    Now there can never be any extra spaces and there will be no header to cause problems.
    This is why it pays to spend time studying the details of how PowerShell works instead of just sticking things together until you get a result.  PowerShell is designed to do all of these things without fudging or guesswork but it requires that you actually
    learn how it works.  I highly recommend stating with a good technical book on PowerShell.

  • OIM 11g - How to run a schedule task using API

    Hi All,
    May I know how i can run a schedule job in OIM 11g through API.I referred the below link but it is for 9.x version.I need the same functionality in 11g?.
    Schedule Tasks
    Thanks in advance.

    Check this :
    SchedulerService schService = oimClient.getService(SchedulerService.class);
    schService.triggerNow("Second Demo Scheduled Task");
    API Reference :
    void triggerNow(java.lang.String jobName)
    throws SchedulerException,
    SchedulerAccessDeniedException
    Runs the specified job
    Parameters:
    jobName - The job that is to be triggered
    Throws:
    SchedulerException - when an error occurs at the Quartz Engine or scheduler is not running.
    SchedulerAccessDeniedException - This exception will be thrown if access permission for operation is not available to the user

  • All scheduled tasks stopped execute

    Hi guys,
    We are using the version 11.1.1.5(BP 2) of OIM. Now all scheduled task, stoped execute.
    We clicked em "Run Now" but isn't inserted a line in grid Job History, in log doesn't show no errors.
    This happen for all scheduled tasks.
    What be should the problem??
    Thanks

    Restart the Scheduler
    http://OIM_HOST:OIM_PORT/SchedulerService-web/status.
    Hope the problem should resoved after this. If not than:
    Also enable looger for Schedule task (oracle.iam.identity.scheduledtasks). You will get more information in the log file.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e14308/log.htm#CEGBBGFH.
    I think you will get the some exception in diaognestic log file.
    If problem doesn't solve restart the manage server.
    Thanks

  • CF 9 Upgrade process Ran All Scheduled Tasks

    I just completed the upgrade process from CF8 Enterprise to CF9 Enterprise on our test system, Windows 2003 R2P2 using IIS6 and SQL Server 2000.  I have no schedule tasks with an active schedule, but the upgrade process ran all of the tasks.  Running all of the scheduled tasks created 200+ e-mails.
    Any ideas on what happened?  I ran the coldfusion_9_wwe_win.exe and installed the CF9 ODBC and CF9 SOIR services.
    If this happened on my TEST system (with no actively scheduled tasks) what's going to happen when I upgrade my production system?
    Thanks in advance for your time.
    Libby

    I can't answer your specific question (*), but I would seriously reconsider your approach of UPGRADING a CF server.  Set up CF9 in parallel, and migrate the application/website across to it.
    If you do an inline upgrade and it fails: you've got nothing to fall back on.  If you to a "cross-grade", your working CF8 instance is still there as a fail-over, if anything goes wrong with the CF9 install.

    (*) you might want to raise a bug report, though.

  • Task Scheduler wont run when set to "Run whether user is logged on or not"

    Hi
    I have two 2008 R2 servers with the same task and pretty much the same powershell script the schedule is running.  The powershell just runs a daily snapshot of the server.  One server it runs fine with  "Run whether user is logged on
    or not" selected.  But when selected on the second server it won't run.  I mean, the schedule says its run, but the poweshell doesn't launch and do its job.  Everything is the same on each server apart from what is being snapshotted.
    Even the location of where the snapshot is going is the same.  Same domain account, same password.  When I change it to "Run only....." it runs fine.  But the server may not be logged in all the time, so I need it to run whatever.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Matt

    I'd check in the windows system and application event logs. Also check the task log.

  • Disable all scheduled tasks?

    We have around 40 scheduled tasks, many running every 10 to 20 minutes.  I want to import a CAR file of these scheduled tasks to a new server, but I don't want them to execute on the new server until I can disable the task on the old server.  I would rather use a CAR file than create each one manually.  Is there a way to disable all scheduled tasks on the new server?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Florian,
    Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is set up for continuous updating.
    You can modify those settings via the Adobe Customization Wizard DC or the Windows Registry
    For the Windows Registry setting please check: Windows Updates

  • All project tasks appear when I view a schedule in PWA but the schedule is blank in MS Project Professional

    We have a project in our Project Server 2010 environment and it was being managed for a period of time without any issues.  Recently, a user has gone into PWA and edited the schedule in PWA by deleting all the tasks and re-creating a new set of tasks.
    He has saved and published the project from within PWA.
    However, although the schedule can be viewed and edited from within PWA, if we try to open it in MS Project, the schedule is blank.  ie. there are no tasks displayed.  It is the correct project as the project name appears at the top of the MS Project
    window.
    I have tried saving and publishing the schedule via PWA but I still get a blank scehdule when I open it in MS Project Professional.
    I have also cleared the cache in case there was something happening there but no change.
    Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this and how to resolve it?
    PS. I am not technical so if you have a technical solution, can you please explain it in as non-technical terms as possible?
    Thanks
    Peter

    Hi Paul
    As I mentioned in my post, when I open the scheudle in MS Project, there are no tasks displayed.  ie. the schedule is totally blank.  So although it could be opened, I was reluctant to publish it via MS Project.  I did delete the MS Project
    cache as well as the IE Browser history, cookies etc but no effect.
    This is now a mute point as I decided to restore an earlier version of the schedule from the backups and it now seems to have been resolved.  The schedule is appearing in both PWA and MS Project and they are in synch with each other.
    I have put this down to a random corruption that somehow crept into the schedule.
    Thanks for your response anyway.

  • Return the scheduled start date from one task to a custom field for all tasks

    Hi all
    I am trying populate an entire custom task date field with the scheduled start date of one of the tasks. I thought the easiest way would be to:
    1) identify the date I need with a custom task flag field set to 'yes'
    2) create a formula to look for the 'yes' flag in that field and populate the custom task date field with it.
    This worked only for the task where the flag was set to yes (task #36) and the rest of the 49 tasks returned an error message. I'm unsure of how to set this up so that the date with the 'yes' flag populates in this column on
    all 50 tasks.
    This would also need to scale for situations where there were more or less than 50 tasks.
    Thanks in advance...
    Using MSP 2010 Pro

    ShelleyBrodie,
    That's because the syntax of your formula isn't quite what you intend. The correct syntax is:
    IIf( expression, truepart, falsepart )
    For your case that converts to:
    IIf([Flag1],[Scheduled Start],{not sure what you want for the false part but I assume is is not Scheduled Start})
    Note, the "Yes" for Flag1 is implied, so the first part (i.e. Scheduled Start) is the truepart, but you don't give a value for the falsepart (i.e in both cases your formula is looking for Flag1 to be "yes". Let's say you want the Date1
    field to have the Scheduled Start date if Flag1 is "yes" and to have today's date if Flag1 is "no". Then the formula will be:
    IIf([Flag1],[Scheduled Start],[Current Date])
    However, As I indicated in my previous response, you won't be able to do what you described in your initial post by using a formula. Are you now trying to do something different?

  • Does JVM clean up after a scheduled thread has finished its task?

    If a Timer class is scheduled to perform a certain task repeatedly, and when a scheduled task is finished, who will clean up or terminate or stop that thread? Is there anything that I can do to make sure those finished threads are cleaned up so that they will not occupy resources.

    Further for java.util.Timer, at least in Java 6:
    "After the last live reference to a Timer object goes away and all outstanding tasks have completed execution, the timer's task execution thread terminates gracefully (and becomes subject to garbage collection). However, this can take arbitrarily long to occur. By default, the task execution thread does not run as a daemon thread, so it is capable of keeping an application from terminating. If a caller wants to terminate a timer's task execution thread rapidly, the caller should invoke the timer's cancel method."
    Not sure if this self-cleanup goes back to 1.4 though.

  • SCHEDULED REPORT RUNS FINE BUT UNABLE TO PULL UP THE RESULTS

    Hello all,
    I can create a new report in against Discoverer with no problem. The report can be run as a scheduled report....and the
    results pulled up with no problem.
    EXISTING reports that were converted during our 9i to 10G can be scheduled and run. However, when the user attempts to see
    the results they receive an error message stating:
    The results run for this scheduled workbook can no longer be used because the query has been changed.
    Do you want to query the database for the new results?
    After installing a patch some of the workbooks were able to be retrieved. It seems like there is some commonality in the workbooks that don't seem to work from the scheduled reports. It seems that any workbook that has an admin created calculation in the EUL as one of the selected fields or as a condition of the report, causes a problem.
    If anyone of you came across this situation please guide us.
    Thanks
    Manohar

    Hi Manohar
    By resaving I mean opening the workbook in Plus then clicking the Save button to force Discoverer to save a clean copy. You should then reschedule this and see what happens.
    Here's another trick from way back in the early days of Discoverer that might help. You said that the issue was with an admin created calculation. So, try this:
    Create a brand new calculation in your workbook and load the admin calculation into it. Then change all references for the admin calculation, conditions etc, to point at the new calculation.
    Believe it or not, this trick can sometime force Discoverer to work when it otherwise will not. At any rate, its worth a try don't you think?
    Best wishes

  • How does one view all scheduled reports?

    I am scheduling 12 reports to run monthly. I don't find any view in which to see all of my scheduled reports, in order to verify  success (or failure) of last instance run, to delete or modify a report's schedule, etc.
    I also see no such "I am scheduled" indication or view on individual reports.

    Hi Randy,
    To add to John's response, you would be able to get the list of all schedules, through the
    1. Instance manager. Log on to CMC and go to instance manager to see all your report schedules.
    2. You can always navigate to a reports history to view its instances.
    3. Run the below query in the Query Builder (AdminTools) application to get the list of schedules
    SELECT SI_ID,SI_NAME,SI_PARENTID FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE SI_INSTANCE=1
    The above query would bring you 1000 results of all the report instances in the CMS database, irrespective of the kind of the report.
    You can fine tune your query as per your requirement if you need to get the instances of particular report. Below is the query to get instances for a particular report
    SELECT SI_ID,SI_NAME FROM CI_INFOOBJECTS WHERE SI_PARENTID=<ReportId for which you need to get the instances> AND SI_INSTANCE=1
    4. By using BusinessObjects SDKs. For working with BO SDKs, you would need to be familiar with the 3rd option above as through the code you would be executing similar queries to CMS database to get the results in your application.
    Regarding your query 'We want to have the ability to let any users go to one page/or click a link in webi and the page would show all of that user's scheduled reports in one single list where they can view and edit the report's schedule.. I wonder if that is possible to achieve'
    This is surely possible using the BusinessObjects sdks. For more queries regarding it, you would probably have to post your questions in the java sdks space. Below is the link for the same.

  • Landed Cost manager Program is scheduled to run everyday but it did not run

    Hi All,
    Landed Cost manager Program is scheduled to run everyday but it did not run for 2 days and there was no error; it did not start even though it is a scheduled prog to run every 30 mins.
    Please let me know if anyone has experienced similar cases before; also let me know if you have any clue for above? I am also researching on if there is any way to send notifications when a scheduled prog did not run even.
    Any suggestions are welcome and also would like to get your thoughts on notification part if this is possible to track.
    Thanks
    De

    Assuming no error can be found in the DB/CM log files, have you verified the scheduled settings for this program? Try to schedule it again and see if this helps.
