CF8 not interpreting time in an Oracle date

In testing for my co's migration from CF6 to CF8, found an odd behavior in CF8.  The Data coming from the Oracle (9) table, which is of datatype Date, is 7/13/2009 3:31:30 PM.  I'm outputting this value as  #dateFormat(qry.date, 'mm/dd/yy')# #timeFormat(qry.date, 'hh:mm tt')#.  In CF6 it correctly outputs the time as 3:31 pm, but in CF8 it outputs the time as 12:00 am.
Doing a straight output of #qry.date# in CF8 outputs {ts '2009-07-13 00:00:00'}, which suggests that CF8 simply isn't recognizing the time component of the Date datatype. Is there a known issue with CF8 and Oracle 9?  or could this be a driver issue?
Thanks,
Christophe

I'm not an expert on Oracle, but I had a similar problem. To resolve it, I parsed the date and time separately in the query. Our database is PostgresQL, which would be processing the SQL, and it is reading an Oracle table through a data source set up in ColdFusion administrator. Here is a snippet of the SQL:
    SELECT to_date(SENT_DATE_UTC) AS TransactionDate,
    to_char(SENT_DATE_UTC,'HH12:MI:SS AM') AS TransactionTime
where SENT_DATE_UTC is the date field  and to_char is the PostgresQL function to convert a time stamp to a string.

    Hi,
When i tried to connect to Oracle data source, i get this error "Unable to establigh connection. Ensure that the server is running, the user name and password are correct, and the ohter data fields match the server's configuration" when i tried to select database.
If i change server name from to localhost, it allows to select database and does not give any error. but clicking on next button says localhost is not accepted, it needs machine name. Then how to connect to Oracle Data source?

It is possible the Oracle db has not been installed correctly, I take this is a personal install on a laptop, if so did you install the loopback adaptor.
Have you tried the connection using the ip of the machine.

  • ASPNETCOMPILER error ASPCONFIG Could not load file or assembly Oracle.Data

I have migrated my .Net solution from 3.5 to 4.0 which consist of a class library and a web service. Web serivice is dependent on class library and the class library uses oracle.dataaccess.dll version 4.112.3.0. I have installed ODAC 11.2.0 in my machine.
When I try to build the solution using MSBUILD.EXE I am getting the below error on my build machine.
ASPNETCOMPILER : error ASPCONFIG: Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. [D:\VEROS_BuildFolder\CDDS_MERGE_CODEDROP_.NETUPGRADE\WEB Services\AppraisalSubmission\AppraisalSubmissionService.metaproj]
And I try to build from VS2010, it is building successfully.
But we need to build only using MSBUILD.EXE which resides in "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319" path. While building using MSBUILd.EXE the Oracle.DataAccess.dll is getting copied into the BIN folder of the web service. It should reference from GAC location. My build serveer is 64 bit win2008 server. when I checked the dll version install using GACUTIL , I got the below result
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools>gacutil /l oracle.dataaccess
The Global Assembly Cache contains the following assemblies:

    oracle.dataaccess, Version=4.112.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342, processorArchitecture=x86
Previous the application was building successfully using framework 3.5 and Oracle.DataAccess.dll version 2.112.3.0.
Please help to build my applicaiton using MSBUILD 4.0 version.

Typically, when you get the "load a program with an incorrect format" exception, it's a mismatch in the bit-ness of the Oracle client you're using and the project you're building. By default, .net builds in AnyCPU mode. That means if you do it on a 64 bit system, you'll get a 64 bit (x64) program. That doesn't work with a 32 bit Oracle client. Usually, you'll need to force MSBUILD to build a 32 bit (x86) result. That will use the 32 bit Oracle client successfully. There's probably a command line switch for that. When building in Visual Studio, you can do it from the Build > Configuration Manager menu.
Now in this case it looks like you actually have both 32 and 64 bit versions of Oracle.DataAccess in the GAC, so I'm not sure if you have both Oracle clients or not. If you have one in the \bin with Copy Local = True, you could be getting the wrong one. You'll want to set Copy Local = False on the properties of the reference and remove that file from the \bin.

  • Insert current date and time into Oracle date type field

I have a JDBC current date and time insert into Oracle 9i that almost works. It submits the current date and a fixed time into the Oracle date type field. I am using Tomcat 6.0.20.
For example if I insert the data at 7:24:04 PM on Feb 16, 2010 it will insert as: 16-Feb-2010 12:00:00 AM
The date part works but the time always shows 12:00:00 AM no matter what date or time the data is inserted.
Here is what I have for my JDBC inserts and I also tried something with DateFormat:
    PreparedStatement ps; Date mydate = new Date(new java.util.Date().getTime()); //insert statement here.... stmt.setDate(1,mydate);
    I also tried:
    PreparedStatement ps; java.sql.Timestamp mydate = new java.sql.Timestamp(new java.util.Date().getTime()); SimpleDateFormat fmt = new SimpleDateFormat(.... //insert statement here.... ps.setTimestamp(1,fmt.format(mydate));
Both keep submitting the date into Oracle as 16-Feb-2010 12:00:00 AM
Anyway to get the current date and time? For example if I insert the data at 7:24.04 pm today it should show as 16-Feb-2010 07:24.04 PM in Oracle.

  • Converting EPOCH time stamp to time stamp in Oracle

    Hi,
I need a help regarding how to convert the epoch Time stamp, to oracle date and time format.
    for example,
    for epoch time stamp:1204104116656
the time stamp should be :2008-02-13 12:43:00.351
    Thanks in Advance
    Basil Abraham

Are you sure you've got the right timestamp? Assuming this is a standard unix epoch time stamp with the epoch date starting at 1970-01-01 UTC the interval between 1970-01-01 UTC and 2008-02-13 is 13922 days, but your epoch timestamp divided by the number of miliseconds in a day 1204104116656/(1000*60*60*24) comes out to 13936.390... days a difference of 14 days 9 hours 21 minutes 56 seconds and 656 miliseconds.
Anyway to convert you need to convert your epoch date into an interval and add it to the starting epoch date (as a timestamp):
    select to_timestamp_tz('1970-01-01 utc', 'yyyy-mm-dd tzr')+
           numtodsinterval(1204104116656/1000,'second') dstamp

  • Oracle Data Integrator - Real Time Integration

    Hi,
I want to know that, is there any possibility of integrating data in real-time using Oracle Data Integrator?
If yes, does it affect the OLTP system performance? (Could it read from db logs,etc..)
    Thanks..

Using ODI with Logminer-based CDC will affect performance on the source system more than using Oracle Goldengate, let me explain why:
When using the ODI Logminer-based Journalisation the Logminer functionality will move the primary-key of the affected row into the journal table. When you are then ready to move the changed data, running an interface to move the data reads the Journal-view, which joins the journal table (primary keys) to the source data (and dealing with deleted rows), optimising out duplicate rows in order to bring across the then-current state of the data, which can then be loaded into the target system, on completion, the moved rows can be removed from the journal table. The data will appear in the journal table as soon as Logminer puts it there, which may be a lag of up to two minutes using asynchronous setting, whereas Synchronous Logminer applies "system triggers to the table, with the consequent overhead.
With Oracle Goldengate, the comitted transactions are read from the log as soon as the log-writer puts the commit into the log. All the data is picked up from the log, at that point. It is then written to the trail-file system of Oracle Goldengate which can be propogated to multiple other systems potentially with sub-second latency, and minimal impact on the source system due to the efficient reading and writing mechanisms. One other consequence of using Oracle Goldengate is that you get every change of the data, not the optimised then-current state of the data when moved.
    Hope this explanation helps.

    Hi Sonal,
To use PowerPivot for SharePoint on SharePoint 2013, it is required to install PowerPivot for SharePoint with the Slipstream version of SQL Server 2012 SP1. If you install SQL Server 2012 and then use the upgrade version of SQL Server 2012 SP1 to upgrade,

I have found Microsoft ODBC for Oracle to be more stable than the Microsoft OLEDB for Oracle driver. I have also found both Microsoft ODBC and OLEDB drivers to be more stable than the drivers from Oracle.
You could always get the latest MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) from Microsoft's MSDN Download site and then get the ODAC (Oracle Data Access Components) from Oracle's OTN Download site. ODAC requires MDAC. And ODAC has the latest drivers.
I suppose it would help to have the latest patches for your Oracle client software too. Maybe Oracle MetaLink would have these?
It may even help to have the latest service pack for Visual Studio 6 (Visual C++ 6 and Visual Basic 6) too.
