CFBuilder & Flash Builder 4 Premium

My company has purchased several keys for Flash Builder 4 Premium. It was our understanding that these product keys would also activate CFB for us as well.
I have contacted Adobe support several times. All of my calls resulted in either being transferred around until I get up or being dropped all together.
What do we need to do to get CFB working correctly?

Hi,
The license key is not same for CFB and FB.When you have received the license key for FB you should also have received license key for CFB.
Please check whether you have received 2 different keys(1 for FB and 1 for CFB) for each license you have bought.
Otherwise you have to get them first.
Thanks,
Krishna

• Flash Builder 4 Premium reverts to trial version for SDK 4.5.1.

My setup:
Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.6
Flash Builder 4 Premium, Version 4.0 (build 272416), volume license
SDK 4.5.1, Flex 3 compatibility mode enabled
RIATest 4.3 Professional
RIATest compiled-in agent: RIATestAgent3.swc
When running RIATest against our application to perform automated tests, I eventually get this alert appearing in  our application:

----------------------------------------------------------------

                            [  OK  ]
This alert never appeared until we upgraded from SDK 3.4.1 to SDK 4.5.1. This problem occurs on Windows 7 and Mac OS X. I updated our code to disable Flex 3 compatibility and use the RIATest agent, RIATestAgent4.swc. This did not change the outcome. Since this is an Adobe licensing issue, there is nothing the makers of RIATest (Cogitek) can do to help me other than to tell me to press the matter with Adobe. I'm using the same legitimate/legal/valid Flash Builder Premium and RIATest licenses as I've been using for a year now.
Why do I need a new license to perform automated tests against SDK 4.5.1? What license would that be?

In order for you to downgrade you need to hava an AVL license, and yes it is possible, you just need to call support.
http://www.adobe.com/volume-licensing/policies.html
Check Backward licensing policy
"Adobe allows program members to order a current-version license but use a prior version. These members can contact Adobe Customer Service to request a serial number for the earlier version if they do not already have one. Prior-version software is available via ESD and can be purchased through standard resellers. The program member must follow all guidelines of the current-version EULA.
Note: This policy is applicable under the TLP and Forms Licensing Program (FLP) as well."

• Upgrading Flex Builder 3 Standard to Flash Builder 4 Premium

Hi there,
Purchased Flex Builder 3 Standard back in January. Came to enjoy (and depend on) the memory profiling functions in the beta 2.
Anyhow, Flash Builder 4 has been released, and I see there is no memory profiler in the Standard edition. I see some conflicting information out there regarding upgrades -- some (third party) websites say it's possible to upgrade Flex Builder 3 Standard to Flash Builder 4 Premium. Adobe's website says it's only possible to upgrade Standard -> Standard, and Premium -> Premium.
The costs to upgrade to Premium from Standard would be prohibitive; I'd have to purchase two separate upgrades and the price would go over $US1000. Am I able to upgrade to Premium using my Flex Builder 3 Standard purchase?
Thanks.

Hi,
I don't think that "downgrades" from FB3 Pro to FB4 Standard are officially supported. You might be able to negotiate with a Sales Rep to make an exception for you though, for a discounted price on a non-upgrade version of FB4 Standard.
Alternatively, if you have any interest in CS5 Web Premium (or have any Adobe products qualifying for a CS5 upgrade), FB4 Standard is included with that Suite now.

• Changes from Flash Builder 4 Beta 2 to Flash Builder 4 Premium

I have a Flex app that started in Flash Builder 4 Beta 2 and when the beta expired, we bought Flash Builder 4 Premium.
Before, when programmatically changing the selected index of a Spark DropDownList, the change handler was called, so in cases where I didn't want that to happen, I had to remove the event listener and add it again after a small setTimeout.
In the new version, it seems that when I change the selected index programmatically, the change handler is not called, so if I want it to be called, I have to call it manually, which is also fine. I just want to confirm that this different behavior was an actual change that was made and isn't caused by some kind of other change I made to my code.
Is there a list of feature changes from the beta to the release version? Thanks!
-Travis

If you right-click the toolbar you can get to the 'Customize perspective' dialog.
From there make sure commands >> flash run/debug option is checked.
Oddly, there is no "Flash run/debug" option to check.
Please see the attached picture.
Note that I am running Flash Builder Beta 2 (build 253292) on Eclipse 3.4.2 (build M20090211-1700) on Max OS X (version 10.5.8).
Thanks!

• Upgrade from Flash Builder 4 Beta 2 to Flash Builder 4 Premium

Hi guys,
How do i just upgrade from Beta 2 to premium?  Does the install utility for Premium take care of it? or do I need to some how uninstall and install Flash Builder 4 premium?  I currently have Flash Builder 4 Beta 2 installed as a plugin to my current Eclipse IDE, and I do not want to start all over again as there are quite of few settings/plugins already installed in Eclipse that I want to keep, and not waste more time duplicating the whole process.
Thanks
Jay

• Coldfusion Builder and Flash Builder 4 Premium

I am not sure should this question go in Flex forum or ColdFusion.
I am going to buy the ColdFusion builder which come with the Flash Builder 4 Standard. And I need to have Flash Builder 4 Premium. So should i buy the upgrade which is US$499 or should i but the full Flash Builder 4 Premuim for US$699?

Adam,
Thanks for the quick/thorough reply!  You stated: You can use FB4 to write source files for any version of CF.
With that, I will continue to march foward with what tools I do have; I just didn't want to waste time if the end result wasn't going to work.

• Limit record and replay when use flash build 4 premium.

I am trying flex automation in our company via iTest. the product is developed and built by flash builder 4 premium(not the trial version).
There is a prompt like ""License not present. With the trial verison only limited replays/record are allowed" when I record/replay the tests.
Perhttp://forums.adobe.com/message/251183#251183, it is caused by the trial version of Flash builder. But actually we do use the flash build4 premium to compile the application.
Anyone got this problem? Can you provide some input this? thanks a lot.

Deeptika,
One more thing need your confirmation. If  I got following picture in Deactivation page, it means the FB4 premium is with license, right?
I clicked suspend activation in my PC and it showed suspending activation is successful. But when I re-start Flash builder, I still get following page. I am wondering if this flash builder is still with licensing.
thanks,

• Why does Flash/Flex Builder 4 Premium downgrade to Standard when I install Flash Player Debug?

Why does Flash/Flex Builder 4 Premium downgrade to Standard when I install Flash Player Debug?
I installed a corporate install of Flex/Flash Builder 4 Premium, and verified that it was the Premium version was installed.  The Start Page said that Flash Player was needed to display the text, so I installed Flash Player 10 Debug -- first download link from here:
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
When I then started Flex Builder 4, the splash screen showed Premium, but as soon as the Start Page was visible, it showed "FB Adobe Flash Builder 4 Standard" --- Help | About showed Standard, and the splash screen from then on showed Standard.
A Google search showed a work around for this, but it requires a license for Premium, which I don't have because our corporate install has it built-in:
http://bloginblack.de/2010/05/adobe-master-collection-cs5-breaks-flash-builder-4-premium-a nd-how-to-fix-it/
1. Anyone know how to resolve this?
2. Can Adobe fix this?
Thanks!

I had similar problem. I was involved in Flash Builder prerelease program and few months later I installed Adobe CS5 Master Collection. After that I had a same situation.  Best thing was, my Flash Builder Beta was Premium version but acted like Standard, and FB from CS5 was Standard but acted like Premium. I removed CS5 and beta version of CS5. used CS5 Cleaning Fix and then reinstalled my apps.
I was lucky that I didn't have many big projects involved in FB beta or CS5 workspaces, I heard some guys had problems with migrated workspace configurations but I don't know what was the problem.

• Flash Builder 4.7 licence activation

Hello,
My company bought a flash builder 4.7 premium licence, but apparently it doesn't work...
I created a small projet to test and add that piece of code to see if it's ok :
protected function applicationCompleteHandler(event:FlexEvent):void
Many features require a Flash Builder Pro (Premium) license to function properly (i.e. automation)
                                            The LicenseUser class registers a handler (LicenseHandler) to be called if a Flash Builder Pro license is NOT present;
if a Flash Builder Pro license IS present, then the compiler will remove the LicenseHandler class for the SWF
                                            if (Class(this.systemManager.getDefinitionByName("licence.LicenseHandler")))
Alert.show("This SWF was compiled WITHOUT a Flash Builder Pro license")
                                            else
Alert.show("This SWF was compiled WITH a Flash Builder Pro license")
       [RequiresLicense("mx.fbpro", handler="licence.LicenseHandler")]
        public class LicenseUser
            public function LicenseUser()
        public class LicenseHandler
            public function LicenseHandler()
It's a piece of code we can find on some forum and works for some people.
But the message which is displayed is always the first one => "This SWF was compiled WITHOUT a Flash Builder Pro license"
I found that page (http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-builder/kb/flex-automation-issues-flash-builder.html) to replace the licence.jar but it still doesn't work...
The profiler doesn't work either...
Have you got any ideas please ?
Thanks.

Hi
I am having same issue.
Have followed the instruction at: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-builder/kb/overlay-air-sdk-flash-builder.html
When go to compile my mobile flex app I get cant resolve ViewNavigationApplication and new flex mobile projects do not 'finish' when using the wizard.
[Update]
Have AIRSDK 3.5 with ASC 2.0 is working nicely. Also must remember, when updating SDK need to make sure there are not firewall restrictions to the new commands (adt)
This has solved my ios deployment issue with AIR 3.4 (which was only reason invesigating AIR 3.6 in the first place)

• Latest flex sdk for Flash Builder 4

HI,
We bought Flash Builder 4 Premium and installed it.
Now I want to use the latest flex sdk to use with it (I am working on a project using TLF 2).
What is the version I should install, is it sdk 4.1 or 4.5(Hero).
In Flex 4.1 there are about three variations http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Downloads. Which one should I download if using 4.1 ?
Please explain.
Thanks

Thanks Chris.
in sdk 4.1 download there are 3 download types. Can you please tell me the difference of 'Free Adobe Flex SDK' and 'Open Source Flex SDK' and which one should I use?
Thank you very much

• Upgrade from Flex Builder 3 Professional to Flash Builder 4 Standard?

Hi,
I currently own a license to Flex Builder 3 Professional, and I would like to upgrade to Flash Builder 4 Standard. I do not need the extra features included in Flash Builder 4 Premium, and it costs three times as much as the Standard upgrade.
However, none of the upgrade pages say if my particular upgrade path is possible or not. I talked to a sales rep on the phone, and he thought it would be fine, but didn't know for sure. Can anyone give me the official word if it is possible to upgrade from FB3 Pro to FB4 Standard?

• Flex Builder 4 == Flash Builder 4

I've seen a ton of blogs discussing Adobe's decision to rename Flex Builder to "Flash Builder" for version 4.0, and wanted to see what you all think.
Personally I agree with many of the blog comments that it is a bad move.
Flex apps are not Flash apps (thankfully), they just happen to run in the same runtime (Flash Player). AIR apps are not Flash apps as well.
I still think Flex will succeed, but are you all looking forward to working in Flash Builder 4?
I for one hope Flex continues to succeed despite this move.

Just recently re-infuriated by this terrible decision on Adobe's part so I located this thread.
On Adobe labs they use this as the reasoning:
If you are new to the Flash Builder beta, the first thing that you’ve already noticed is that we are renaming Flex Builder to Flash Builder. This name change will create a clear distinction between the free open-source Flex framework and the commercial IDE.
So instead of developers (most of which have already learned the distinction by now after TWO versions) having to know the difference between an SDK and an IDE (what kind of idiot developers can't understand this???), now Flash designers (many more of those) and programmers also need to understand the difference between Flash Builder and Flash Professional.  They aren't the same product in the least and are barely related, but Flash "newbies" won't know that from the names.  Meanwhile Flex newbies will still be confused by the Flex SDK/Flash Builder mismatch.
You would think that Flex devs (many of which come from the Java world which has exactly the same concept of SDK/IDE) who are familiar with software engineering (unlike your typical Flash developer), would be able to overcome this "confusion" more easily than the much larger number of Flash devs.
So now this change is needed, to add even more confusion for everybody involved:
When Flash Builder 4 is released for purchase, the current plan is to name the full-featured edition Flash Builder 4 Premium edition. This change is being made to reduce any risk of confusion between Adobe Flash Professional and Adobe Flash Builder.
If it's already realized that you're just replacing the confusion of Flex newbies with the confusion of both Flex AND Flash newbies... why do it?
Was this some over-paid executive's knee jerk solution to an almost insignificant problem?  Given that it seems almost nobody thinks this change is a good idea, perhaps they should have asked (here or elsewhere) their customers what they thought of such a change before simply announcing it and passing it off as a big marketing improvement?
But more importantly: Is it too late to reconsider this idiocy?  (I can't wait till Google searches start mixing up Flash Pro and Flash Builder information making it just that much harder to find relevant links!)
If you really want to eliminate the confusion of "Flex Builder" vs "Flex SDK" for the mentally challenged, why not simply rename Flex Builder to a more creative and unique name similar to what Java has in Eclipse/JDK?  Heck even calling it FX Builder would have been better than Flash Builder!  The marketing dept here needs a serious wake up call IMO.

• Flash builder 4 and flex 3 sdk - co-existence?

Can I install Flash Builder 4 Premium on the same XP machine with Flex 3 SDK without conflicts?
Thanks.

Yes.
Perhaps you meant to ask about Flash Builder 4 and Flex Builder 3 co-existing?  If so, then yes, you can also have Flash Builder 4 and Flex Builder 3 on the same machine without any conflicts; although I would not recommend installing them in the same eclipse instance.
You can also have as many Flex SDKs installed on your machine at a time and have Flex Builder 3 or Flash Builder 4 setup to use all the SDKs.   Although, I don't thikn it is possible to use use more than one SDK as part of a single project.  it'd be impractical, if not impossible.
I think that covers all bases.

• Unable to install Flash Builder Premium: a beta version exists on this computer

Hi,
I'm a user of Flex since version 2 and i'm still currently using it everyday. Some days ago I uninstall Flash Builder Premium 4.7 because i did a mess installing some external packages so I dedided to uninstall it and install everything from scratch.
The problem is that installing using Creating Cloud on my iMac, I always receive the same error: "a beta version exists on this computer".
I have already used the "Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool" and I removed the "Adobe Flash Builder" having the same icon as the other applications installed by Creative Cloud and now I have another "Adobe Flash Builder" with a slightly different icon but I'm scared to use it because waiting to repair Flash Builder 4.7 I'm using Flash Builder 4.6 and I cannot think I cannot work because Flash Builder is not working (I use it every day !).
I removed Flash Builder 4.7 using the uninstaller, so the uninstalled didn't completed its job.
On the machine I have currently installed Flex Builder 3, Adobe Flash Builder 4.6, Adobe Gaming SDK 1.0 (no uninstaller for it !), Adobe Flash C++ Compiler (no uninstaller for it too!).
So, the question is, where I can find the log file containing the reason of the error message ? I have already checked the followimg folders:
\Library\Logs\Adobe\Installer: I cleaned the folder and the error happens before a file is created in this folder
\Users\<my account>\Library\Logs: it seems that the error isn't logged here
Please help me, I need to use Flash Builder 4.7 for a presentation I have to do next Wednsday (almost 2 years of working !!!)
Thank you
Diego Novati

Hi novatiitm,
Please search for Flash Builder in Spotlight and if find simply uninstall it or delete the folders containing the software.

• Flash Builder 4.7 Premium offline installer

Hi,
Where can I find offline installer for Flash Builder 4.7 Premium. I have to backup all application installers in my company (regarding web development) and I can't find it anywhere on adobe.com. Is there any chance to get installer after downloading it via Adobe Creative Cloud app or is there direct link?
Medyk

Hi Jeff, Thanks for your reply.  we purchased the upgrade license directly from Adobe web site and I can only see the order of the upgrade license from https://www.adobe.com/account/account-orders.html.
The original Flash builder 4.0 Premium was purchased through a reseller our company normally use back in 2010.  The Software license certificate shows TLP 5.0 LICENSE PROGRAM - CORPORATE.  We do have either 4 or 6 seat license.   We only have 1 developer left for this project so only 1 upgrade license was purchased.
Does our Flash builder 4.0 premium license qualify for the upgrade offer?  If not how do we upgrade?
