Cfinput type="file"

Does anyone know if it is possible to use <cfform
type="file> within a <cfform type="flash"?
7.0 doesit allow this !?!

I found a cool custom tag. However, it would be cool if Adobe
could add this to version 8.0

  • CFFORM/CFINPUT Type = File Problem

    Hello everyone-
    I'm trying to use a CFINPUT/FILE field in a CFFORM:
    <CFINPUT TYPE="file" NAME="scanArticleLocation"
    class="sans9">
    Clicking on the Browse button appears to populate the text
    input box with a valid path, but when the field
    "scanArticleLocation" is passed on by the form, I get this:
    <INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="ScanArticleLocation"
    VALUE="C:\CFusionMX7\runtime\servers\coldfusion\SERVER-INF\temp\wwwroot-tmp\neotmp12527.t mp">
    Wether I click on the form's "Browse" button to specify the
    file's path, or manually enter it, the result is the same (only the
    .tmp file name changes). Anyone ever come across this one?
    Thanks in advance...

    It appears that the problem was in the CFFORM tag itself. I
    originally had specified that it be multi-part:
    <CFFORM name="UpdateForm" ACTION="insertForm2.cfm"
    enctype="multipart/form-data" METHOD="POST">
    When I removed the enctype parameter, it worked fine:
    <CFFORM name="UpdateForm" ACTION="insertForm2.cfm"
    METHOD="POST">

  • Define Source using CFINPUT Type=File

    Has anyone made it to where you can define the exact location
    to browse to when using a file upload input?
    I could use it if someone knows how to do it...
    This form is strictly used internally, so I wouldn't need to
    worry about it not going to a location that was not available.
    Thanks.
    <cfinput type="file" name="uploadart" id="uploadart"

    No one has a solution for this...?

    For the first time, I'm trying to use adobe premiere elements 10 that came with my pc Windows 8. I created a single project, saved it but cannot open it. My pc shows the file I created but I get an error message that says this type file is not supported or the codex is not installed. As a test, I created another very small project and get the same error message, when I try to open it. Pls give me a simple answer, a refund or a phone

    What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 10 running on? And, what video card/graphics card does that computer use?
    Is this the first time you are using Premiere Elements 10 or have you worked with it before successfully? There is no easy solution until we
    know the details and troubleshoot to determined what caused the problem.
    1. Can you open a new project?
    2. After you saved/closed the problem project, did you move, delete, or rename any of the files/folder that were related to the source media
    for that project?
    3. Please review the Adobe document on troubleshooting damaged projects.

    4. What are the steps that you are using to reopen this saved closed project.

  • Is there an easy way to run an Ajax function from input type=file to test the file name in DB?

    I've had the <input type="file">  ... <cffile ...> thing going for a few years now.
    There is a database where the uploaded file names are stored once the files are uploaded to the server.  It sees things in terms of problems and stores uploaded file name accordingly with the ProbID prepended onto the file name; e.g., MyPicture.jpg would end up in the designated directory and databawe as P416_MyPicture.jpg.  This allows user to store pictures with the same name in different problems without a conflict.  There has been an issue with certain characters (e.g., spaces, +, #, etc.) causing problems when they are in file names so we have come up with a way using the <cffile ... rename> to replace these chars with _.  This means that MyPic+.jpg would end up being P416_MyPic_.jpg.
         This is where the problem appears.  If someone were to upload MyPic+.jpg after someone else uploaded MyPic_.jpg in the same problem, then the + file would overwrite the _ file before the system knew they had a problem.  And there is now way to restore the original file without going to the system backup and doing so – which is a whole other story … especially, if the person doesn’t tell anyone.
         The logical solution would be to be able to test the new final file name (the name after making the substitutions mentioned above) against the existing files in the database before you went from the page where the <input type=file> control to the associated _action.cfm page where the <cffile> object is located.  Given that this seems to be the province of Ajax, this would seem like a natural use of the really interesting technology.  I have can determine the file name from the onChange action on the <input type=File> so that this would be the place for Ajax to come to the rescue by looking up the final file name and then letting the user know whether the resultant name is a unique within the database or not.  If so, I'll just enable the Add button which sets right next to the <input > control and let them upload it.  If not, I'll put up an error message telling them that this file already exists in the system.
         This would be the perfect solution.  It would let me do some Ajax stuff like I've wanted to do for the past year, but never have had the time to do because this is the project that won't go away.  This is, in fact, the last thing of any consequence that remains to do on this 2-1/2 year nightmare – be careful what you wish for.  If I can get this done this week, then maybe I can finally take a weekend off … maybe it will finally come to an end.
         Which finally leads to my question:  I'm looking for some tips on how to get this thing going since I can barely spell Ajax.  I've got a book and looked at some stuff online about CF and Ajax, but a good example or two or three would be worth a day's worth of poking around on the web and in my books.
         Thanks in advance for any suggestions, ideas, help, whatever.
    Len

    Adam,
         Thank you for your suggestion, but, after spending the night working with Ben Forta's CF8, vol 2, Chap 34, working with <cfajaxproxy>, I was able to do exactly what I wanted and it appears, after some testing, to work exactly as I had envisoned it should.
         I am now calling a JavaScript function (testFileName) from the onChage event on the <input type="file"> or Browse button, which calls my proxy.cfc that contains the server side of the equation.  This funciton testFileName (I've run out of cleaver function/file names).  The query contained therein hits the database to see if the passed in parameters can pull up an existing file.  If they do, the particulars (file name, data attahced, etc.) are returned to the JavaScipt procedure that puts up the error notice.  The user can then chose to either overwrite the file or quit.  Quiting leaves the your on the Attachment PopUp where he/she started with nothing being uploaded.
         Thanks again for your suggestion.  I appreciate your taking the time to do so.

  • Since passing to ML, I have a message, in French, which is: La connexion au serveur a échoué. Les URL de type "file" ne sont pas prises en charges.  Can you tell me what this means and how to get rid of it? thank you.

    What does this message mean?
    La connexion au serveur a échoué.  Les URL de type "file" ne sont pas prises en compte.
    thank you.

    Without more information, ie what were you trying to do when you got this message, it is very hard to answer your question. If you were trying to access a webpage it means the server the page is on had a problem. If you were doing something else please post back and someone may have the answer.

  • Uploading a file using input type=file

    Hi,
    I'm not sure if I'm in the right place or not. If not can you please let me know where to find and answer for my question.
    I'm trying to upload a file in oracle self-service (online page) and I found that the input type=file will let me select the file so I place the input type inside my htp.formopen command.
    I used the following when opening the formopen
    htp.formOpen(my_link, 'post',null, 'multipart/form-data');
    then I created the <input type="file"> tag
    But when I send the link to my second page to see if the input type works I get the page not found error.
    I'm thinking that maybe is because my 2nd page doesnt have a parameter that will hold the file but right now I'm not sure how to declare the file variables.
    Do you have any idea what could be wrong?
    Thanks

    What does your form do when you submit it? Handling file uploads is a bit of a convoluted process. I'd recommend starting here for some guidance:

  • JS error while using input fields with type=file on XP SP2

    Hi all,
    we found a new problem in applications which use input fields with type=file running in a browser on Microsoft Windows XP with SP2.
    A typical test layout might look like:
    <html>
      <head>
        <title>File-Upload</title>
      </head>
      <body>
        <form action="/cgi-bin/upload.pl" method=post
              enctype="multipart/form-data">
          <input type=file size=50 maxlength=100000 name="file"
                 accept="text/*"><br>
          <button onclick="document.forms[0].submit();">Send</button>
        </form>
      </body>
    </html>
    When you add a link without the fully qualified path (for example pic01.jpg instead of c:\pictures\pic01.jpg) and click on the 'Send' button, nothing happens and you get a Javascript error 'Access denied'.
    The solution can be found in the MS Knowledge Base article 892442:

    We still investigate this issue and will inform you about the further proceeding.

  • HTML form posting with input type="file"

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a servlet to accept POST requests sent from a form which has an input field of type="file".
    When I first tried I found that I was only recieving the filename of the file and not getting any contents.. I then found out that I needed enctype="multipart/form-data" in my html form tag.
    Now my servlet isn't picking up any of the form data plus the reader returned by HttpServletRequest.getReader() just throws an IOException whenever I use it..
    I have tried to google for how to get this working but I haven't found much. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks cool..
    I also found this after some late night googling..

    I'm trying to not use one of these utility classes for now until I find out exactly how they get their data from the HttpServletRequest object..

  • "there was a problem connecting to the server. URLS with the type 'file' are not supported"

    i have a new macbook pro 13" and every 6 minutes or so it pops up a window that says "there was a problem connecting to the server. URLS with the type 'file' are not supported". it never seems to cause any problems but is supremely annoying. how can i make this come to an end?

    I tried someone's solution of taking another external disc and plugging it in, then when it showed up and time machine asked if I wanted to use it or that someone might be trying to trick me, I chose not use it.  Then I  shut down my computer, plugged in the original Lacie, and rebooted the computer and all seems to work fine now-- the Lacie appears on my desktop and all seeems to be in working order. Who knows why or anything else,- as weird as it gets- but for now things seemed fixed--- maybe others can try this too-- it worked for me so far.
