Cg_ref_codes
Hi all
I try rewrite my app from forms6i to adf and i dont knew what is the best way to support my cg_ref_codes table?
On one page i have many field where i use value from "DOMAIN" (cg_ref_codes) sometime i want red/write field (select-on-choice) some time i want red/only field (get value from cg_ref_codes).
To get red/write field i define LOV on my VO, but for red/only field im confused. Should i create association on my EO(mytable->cg_ref_codes)? mytable have six field based on domain value so i need create six association on the same EO( but with difrent value for field RV_DOMAIN)
Thanks in advice
When posting to this forum please quote the version of JDev you're using. I'll assume JDev 11g.
A couple different approaches:
a) For the cg_ref_codes VO, create a number of different view criteria for the different domains. 6 domains, 6 view criteria.
b) Instead for the cg_ref_codes VO, create one view criteria with a bind variable for the domain
As you say, for each field from the EO to the cf_reg_codes VO, you'll need to create an association to support your LOVs. In the association you can select not only the VO to map to, but also from "a" the specific view critiera mapped to a specific domain, or from "b" the single view criteria and manually set the bind variable for the domain to a literal value.
An alternative in the Oracle 11g database is to use virtual columns to introduce the domain value into your primary table, then create FKs between the primary table domain & domain value to the cg_ref_codes domain & domain_value. I've yet to try this in a production system so take this last suggestion with a large bag of salt.

CG_REF_CODES Fail to generate in Designer Generator
When generating domains from designer, CG_REF_CODES is being used to store dynamic domains.
JHeadstart seems to have a problem with CG_REF_CODES. There isn't any component generated to use the CG_REF_CODES. We created the business component for the CG_REF_CODES manually. This results in a Business Component where a rowid as primary key is added to the fields. When we start to use the designer generator, everything works fine. After that, with the application generator the processing stops immediately. Even if we pull out all the references from the module to CG_REF_CODES, this fails when applying the application generator.
Some notes must be made:
1. The forms in Designer are Headstart Forms, which means the forms were originally generated by Headstart and afterwards they were modified by the developer. We know this is not very correct, but this is what we have at the moment.
2. The forms can be found as source file only.
3. Through reverse engineering a module is generated from the src form file.
We have some questions:
1. Does JHeadstart work with reverse engineered forms, which were originally created with Headstart ?
2. Does JHeadstart work with reverse engineered forms anyhow ?
3. What's the deal with CG_REF_CODES ?
We spoke to Ton van Kooten (Oracle Netherlands) and he asked us to post this message.
So we did.
Hope to hear from you soonRokesh,
The answer to questions 1 and 2 is yes. JHeadstart reads the designer metadata, it doesn't care how this metadata is created.
Dynamic domains in CG_REF_CODES are migrated by the JDG to a static domain defined in DomainDefinitions.xml.
You can change this after running the JDG as you suggested:
- create View Objects for each domain in CG_REF_CODES (with the where clause filtering on the domain name)
- In the Application Structure editor create a Lookup element on the attribute that should have the dynamic domain. In the Lookup element you can specify the appropriate domain ViewObject
- Remove the static domain reference created by the JDG: open the JHeadstart BC4J property editor on the ViewObject, select the attribute that should have the dynamic domain and clear the "Domain" property.
I am not sure the problem you have with runing the JAG is related to CG_REF_CODES. Can you try it with a fresh migration:
- create new project
- run the JDG
- run the JAG
- compile and run the application
Does that work?

Column RV_TYPE in table CG_REF_CODES in Designer 6i?
Hi,
We moved recently from Designer 6 to Designer 6i. When asked to generate the CG_REF_CODES table, Designer 6i created a table similar to the one we already had under Designer 6 except for column RV_TYPE which is missing.
Does anybody know if this a bug or is this column not needed anymore?
Thanks
Jean V.Sounds like a bug to me, but one thing you can check is the generator options that affect the reference code table. In the Design Editor select your application in the navigator, then the Options menu. Select "Generator Options...", then "General..."
One thing you might fool with is the File Name Length restriction - mine is blank, but then I tend not to use CG_REF_CODES, so I haven't generated them for quite a while. Try setting it to 30, which would be the right number for Oracle, or to 0, which is supposed to mean "no restriction". -
CG_REF_CODES and sub-entity discriminator columns
I using a super-type implementation of an entity and its sub-entities i.e. they are represented by a single table with a discriminator column. Designer creates the allowable values for the discriminator column.
I thought that I could generate the CG_REF_CODES and have these allowable values included, but I can't seem to get it to happen!
Should discriminator column allowable values appear in CG_REF_CODES? If so, how!
Thanks for any help,Andy Hardy wrote:

Thanks for any help,Sorry! Spent ages working through the generator preferences and the help files before posting the question, then a couple of plays later found the answer - which is... go to the table definition and on the discriminator column set 'Dynamic List' to 'Yes'.

Designer generating CG_REF_CODES inserts without the table name.
We have upgraded our repository from 9i to 10g and now when we generate DDL we get our insert statements for the CG_REF_CODES table without a table name. I am sure that this must be a setting somewhere but I can't find any reference to it in the help. The following is an example of the generated .avt file from our 10g installation.
Thanks in advance,
Chris S.

Need to add extra lines in email generating from oracle
Hi!
I am using Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition 9.2.0.6
I am facing a problem while generating the email from Oracle
Problem is that I want to display the data in following format
Terminal Statistics From: 30-MAR-2008 15:39:00 To: 06-JUN-2008 16:59:00
Containers Examined
Export: 2
Import: 30
but email shows data in following format
Terminal Statistics From: 30-MAR-2008 15:39:00 To: 06-JUN-2008 16:59:00 Containers Examined Export: 2 Import: 30
System combines the all the data in one line, while I have used following function to add new line when and where needed, but unable to get my desired result.
1. utl_tcp.CRLF
2. chr(130) || chr(10)
3. chr(10)
I have used following procedure to generate the email.

would anybody plz help me regarding this.
Thanks
HassanI checked your suggestions after week end today and found that
the suggestion of Nalla did not provide the result in my required format
rewrite it as l_email_text := l_email_text||CHR(10)||l_exm_text;
Peter & Krithika:
I used html tag <BR> when and where needed and its gave me result in my required format
e.g.: l_exm_text := l_exm_text ||'<br>'||rec_examined_ctrs.category ||': '||
rec_examined_ctrs.total;
Now I want to know if there any html tag thru which I can define the column number so that my text will start from there.
means any html tag replacement of lpad (oracle funtion):
Thanks

Meaning only field does not work when querying
Hi
I am working with Designer 6i R4.11
In my generated forms I have columns/fields based on "domains/lovs". The domain property "dynamic list" is set to yes and I have all my values in a cg_ref_codes table.
Now when I am doing a query in my form and I use the lov-button of the "domain-field", the query will work fine. When I just type in the value in the field without using the lov, the query will always return all values.
There is no trigger or code generated to fill in the database-column value in query-mode, so form a form builder point of view it makes sense.
I have the impression this used to work years ago. Is there a property I didn't set or am I missing something?
Thanks in advance for your help.
KarineSeems to me that you need to set the display width to be wide enough for all possible meanings in the LOV, rather than wide enough for the field itself. But I may have misunderstood the question. or misremembered the answer - it has been a while.

Creating progress bar in oracle forms 6i
Hii
I have a push-button (pb_submit)
when when_button_pressed trigger fired...I have a database main procedure to be called.
inside that procedure i am calling 25 procedures.
and all 25 Procedures will be executed sequencially.
I want to use a Progress bar...
so that user will get to know hw much % completed
if main procedure(total 25 procedures inside) is completed successfully then progress bar should show 100%
like wise if 1 procedure completed then 4 %
if 2 procedure completed then 8 %
total 25 procedure completed then 100%
how to implement this logic.
and if in between 1 procedure failed then progress bar should stop at that incident.
and it should start from dat instant only if again that failed procedure run successfully.
should i post my codes here.ok...here is the codes written in the button(when_button_pressed trigger)

PART_DISP is a display_item.
After completion of each procedures call the above procedure like,
cntr:=cntr+1;
show_progress(round(cntr/25*287,0));
synchronize;
where cntr is a counter it will be incremented 1 to 25, the constant value 287 is the maximum width of PART_DISP (you can change for your need).
The local variable cntr's initial value is 0 and maximum value is 25.

Problem in using query bind parameters with dynamic domains
Hi JHeadstart Team,
I am trying to implement the functionality you have mentioned in the chapter 3 of JHS Developer's Guide Using Query Bind Parameters section. I followed the instructions but when I run the application, the following errors are shown on the top of the page :
javax.faces.FacesException: javax.faces.FacesException: Can't set managed bean property: 'namedParams'.
javax.faces.FacesException: javax.faces.FacesException: Possible cycle reference to managed bean "ElgOfMajDomainQueryBindParams"
javax.faces.FacesException: javax.faces.FacesException: Can't set managed bean property: 'namedParams'.
javax.faces.FacesException: javax.faces.FacesException: Possible cycle reference to managed bean "ElgOfMajDomainQueryBindParams"
I also read the chapter 5 - Query Bind Parameters and found that there is a difference between my page definition and the one mentioned in the JHS Developer's Guide .the refresh property in the InvokeAction section of our page definition was "ifNeeded" and I changed it to "renderModel". Now I just get these 2 following errors :
javax.faces.FacesException: javax.faces.FacesException: Can't set managed bean property: 'namedParams'.
javax.faces.FacesException: javax.faces.FacesException: Can't set managed bean property: 'namedParams'.
What is the probable cause of this problem ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Best Regards,
Navid
P.S. We are using Jdeveloper 10.1.3 and jhs 10.1.3 biuld 97.Dear Steven,
I have noticed that I have this difficulty with every dynamic domain which uses query bind parameters.
Here is a scenario which leads to the same error.
I want to have a read only view object on cg_ref_codes table with a p_domain_name parameter so that I can use it for every drop down list in my application.
1- I added a read only view with the following query :
select rv_domain,rv_low_value ,rv_high_value ,rv_abbreviation ,rv_meaning
from cg_ref_codes
where (:p_domain_name is null or rv_domain = :p_domain_name)
2- I added a bind variable to the view with the name of p_domain_name
3- I added the view to application module
4- I made a dynamic domain and put the following values in the query bind parameters but I always got the same errors and the drop down list always showed every record in cg_ref_codes which probably means that the parameter was sent to view object with the value of null.
p_domain_name=#{'RELIGION'}
p_domain_name=#{RELIGION}
p_domain_name=#{"RELIGION"}
p_domain_name='RELIGION'
I also tried to use a trick to check if this problem relate to constant value, so I update one field of my form to the constant I wanted and used the following value for query bind parameters :
p_domain_name=#{bindings.EngOrgPersonFirstName.inputValue}
but the result was the same.
I am realy confused with this error. Any prompt help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Navid

I wonder if anybody else has come across this issue: after creating a named LOV in Shared Components and using the LOV on an item, I get this error:
ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-20001: Query must begin with SELECT or WITHIt doesn't really matter which item type I choose:
Display as text (based on LOV)
Select list (named LOV)
Popup LOV (named LOV)
When using popup LOV there is some additional error information:
Error in init lov: ORA-06561: given statement is not supported by package DBMS_SQL
p_lov:wwv_flow_security.g_security_group_id:1278218559423697
wwv_flow_security.g_curr_flow_security_group_id:1278218559423697
Unable to initialize query.
etc.However, if I copy-paste the LOV code in the LOV definition on item level (so, not as a named LOV) it works!
The LOV is simply:
select rv_meaning d
,rv_low_value r
from cg_ref_codes
where rv_domain = 'F_RC_STATUS'Any ideas?
Ino
Forgot to add: I have a lot of named LOV's without problems. It's just when using cg_ref_codes that this occurs (Oracle Designer users will recognize this table :-) )
But even when using cg_ref_codes, it doesn't happen every time. Some LOV's based on cg_ref_codes do work.
Edited by: InoL on May 10, 2011 10:33 AMI am one step further: I think the problem is that my named LOV was a "Copy and subscribe" from an LOV in my master application. I have deleted and recreated the LOV in the master several times, but that did not help.
Now, I have created the named LOV in the application itself (not as a copy of the master LOV) and it works. It looks like the copy function in Apex Builder may be the problem. -
Problems compiling and running 9i forms on 10g Linux app server
Hi all,
we are about to move our 9i developed forms application from W2k 9ias RL2 to a 10g linux application server. It seems that we are having very much trouble with the fact that file names are case-sensitive under linux. Our forms are designer-generated and afterwards modified using forms developer under win2k. Therefore these forms have designer plls attached (OFG*.pll). In addition, we use a few custom plls and an object library (*.olb). We managed to compile our fmbs to fmx using f90genm.sh on linux, but getting FRM-40735 and ORA-06508 errors at runtime. FORMS90_PATH in default.env is correct.
We took one fmb to narrow things down. Steps we took on development machine:
- Rename all plls to a format of uppercase name and lowercase extension (e.g. OFGBSL.pll)
- Reattach plls to the form
After that
- Move fmb and plls to linux machine
- compile the fmb without errors
At runtime, we get a ORA-06508 in a trigger that calls CGFK$LKUP_QRY.EXTEND_WHERE. This procedure is located in OFGTEL.pll. OFGTEL.pll has OFGMES.pll attached. We tried to compile OFGTEL.pll, but getting errors due to the fact that table CG_REF_CODES is not present in our db (we don't use it).
Other plls like OFGBSL.pll and our custom pll work well (proved by debugging).
Can anybody give us some hints or step-by-step instructions on how to move our application to linux, especially how to make OFGTEL.pll usable?
Thanks in advance
Gerald KriegerHere is a part of code from OFGTEL.pll
IF (curr_value IS NOT NULL) THEN
SELECT decode(RV_HIGH_VALUE, NULL, RV_LOW_VALUE, curr_value)
, RV_MEANING
INTO new_value
, P_MEANING
FROM CG_REF_CODES
WHERE ( (RV_HIGH_VALUE IS NULL AND
/* this will compare them as chars, as the */
/* abbreviation will most often be a char */
curr_value IN (RV_LOW_VALUE, RV_ABBREVIATION)) OR
(to_number(curr_value) BETWEEN
to_number(RV_LOW_VALUE) AND to_number(RV_HIGH_VALUE))
AND ROWNUM = 1
i think the unix .pll and Win .pll are not the same -

thanks1) No tablespace don't have to exist before import. However with one exception that is you have LOB data type in your table.
You need to precreate the tablespace
or precreate the table with LOB type in different tablespace.
2) You only need to import the table that failed, in your case, FIERROS_IMAGEN_BLOB
3) Yes, except the table report error, other tables are ok -

Creating Named Query: from OracleCallableStatement
We have a great many PL/SQL Procs in an existing legacy system that return PL/SQL Boolean, that we wish to call from toplink.
Ideally we would like to create Toplink Nameded queries that wrap the SQL call statements.
Does anyone know if its possible to convert a call like the following into a Toplink named query?
String domain = "COST CENTRE";
String value = "OP";
OracleCallableStatement xcall = (OracleCallableStatement) con.prepareCall(
"BEGIN ? := SYS.SQLJUTL.bool2int(is_valid_value(?, ?)); END;");
xcall.registerOutParameter( 1, OracleTypes.INTEGER);
xcall.setString(2,domain);
xcall.setString(3,value);
xcall.execute();
System.out.println ("Status = " + xcall.getInt(1));
FUNCTION is_valid_value(
p_rv_domain IN CG_REF_CODES.RV_DOMAIN%TYPE,
p_rv_low_value IN CG_REF_CODES.RV_LOW_VALUE%TYPE
RETURN BOOLEAN
IS
Many thanks,
Lee.You can define Stored Procedure calls in TopLink through the StoredProcedureCall class. StoredProcedureCall allows you to define output parameters to access return values.
Example:
StoredProcedureCall call = new StoredProcedureCall();
call.setProcedureName("is_valid_value");
call.addNamedArgumentValue("DOMAIN", domain);
call.addNamedArgumentValue("VALUE", value);
call.addNamedOutputArgument("RESULT", "RESULT", Integer.class);
List results = session.executeSelectingCall(call);
boolean value = ((Integer) ((Map) results.get(0)).get("RESULT")).intValue() == 0;
However what you seem to be accessing is a stored function, not a procedure. To access a stored function from TopLink you must use an SQLCall and select the return value through the DUAL table.
Example:
SQLCall call = new SQLCall("Select SYS.SQLJUTL.bool2int(is_valid_value(" + domain + ", " + value + ")) from dual");
List results = session.executeSelectingCall(call); -
Ref_code tables not required but generated
Hi.
I don't use any ref_codes tables in my application. But when generating table API I always obtain this part of the *.PKB script for every table:
PROCEDURE validate_domain(cg$rec IN OUT cg$row_type,
cg$ind IN cg$ind_type DEFAULT cg$ind_true)
IS
cursor cDomain( p_columnName varchar2 ) is -- B1158144 : added
SELECT RV_LOW_VALUE, RV_HIGH_VALUE
FROM CG_REF_CODES
WHERE RV_DOMAIN = p_columnName;
dummy NUMBER;
no_tabview EXCEPTION;
PRAGMA EXCEPTION_INIT(no_tabview, -942);
BEGIN
NULL;
EXCEPTION
END validate_domain;
with the error message that the CG_REF_CODES table doesn't exist when applying the script to database. How to avoid the cursor definition? I have the DS - 9.0.2.2 version Designer. Everything was OK in previous version.
The workaround is to create CG_REF_CODES table empty but I don't want to have it. Thank you for any advice.
The "Automatic creating of REF_CODES tables" is unchecked.
Ivan ViragAutomatic Code Generation is supported only on Leaf Members currently in SQL Server 2014 MDS.
As a workaround you can use "Start With" property to generate the code after certain number(reserving range for leaf members)
Other option is to use alpha numeric code for Consolidated Members to avoid conflict.
