Change application name dynamically

Hi,
Can I set the name of the application (on the home-screen) within an application. I would like to add an input field in the application settings in order to let the user choose a name for the application.

I dont think this is an option during Runtime via BIAL.
Can you explain the business scenario you are trying to address with this functionality?

Keeping in mush-mind that rumors here get squashed like slugs on an expressway - and that visibility in the app store is key...
Apple has supposedly been looking at redoing categories in the app store in an effort to better help customers browse titles/topics more logically...and to help large commercial clients with more of the general spotlight. As things stand now, it is supposedly less likely for prominent commercial apps to be spotted while floating in a sea of non-commercial (read potentially frivolous) apps.
Another motive may be that some devs/sellers intentionally mis-categorize an app just to be able to participate (read 'sell') in a group where the outright competition is lower and general visibility can be easier to attain.
Also, with the recent change that now provides for content rating by the author, Apple may be ready to apply those ratings as part of an overall category change as well...an example would be where 'Honda Civic Summer Beach Girls Slideshow' is part of the general 'Photography' category, it may instead be moved to a viewer restricted 'Entertainment' category.

Changing application Name

Hi..
I need to change the name of an application. For this I am doing the following steps:
Under the src->packages folder... there is a file application.wdapplication. I am changing this file name to newapplication.wdapplication.
Then I am importing this project into NWDS.
The changed application name is being reflected properly in the imported project. But when I am trying to deploy the application... the deployment is getting aborted.
I am getting the following error :
Caught exception during application deployment from SAP J2EE Engine's deploy service:java.rmi.RemoteException: Cannot deploy application na.ko.com/dc_paymentreport.. Reason: Clusterwide exception: Failed to deploy application na.ko.com/dc_paymentreport. Check causing exception for details (trace file). Hint: Are all referenced components deployed and available on the engine?; nested exception is: com.sap.engine.services.deploy.container.DeploymentException: Clusterwide exception: Failed to deploy application na.ko.com/dc_paymentreport. I do not have the renaming/refactoring option as i am using NWDS 7.0.10.
I also tried the second method suggested by you, ie "create a new Application and use the existing component .Finally delete the Old Application."
But this time also deployment is getting aborted... The error coming is:

Changing application names-how

Hi, I seem to recall being able to change application names but can't do it anymore. Before, I just clicked on the name and it would let me rename it. Have I changed something somewhere or am I doing it wrong? Under file info, it says: Ownership & Permissions: You can Read only(in gray) Under Details: Owner:system Access: Read&Write Group: admin. Are these the correct settings? I don't remember changing anything so I'm wondering why I can't change application names. I don't think this is dangerous... Thanks.

Think I solved my own problem. I logged out under regular user and into admin. This let me change the app name and then went back into regular user and saw the changes. Weird, I don't remember doing this before. I 'm pretty sure I was just able to change the name as a regular user. Maybe this is normal. HMMMM.

How to change application name in system-jazn-data.xml

I have weblogic server installed and applications deployed.
However, I'd like to change the application name in system-jazn-data.xml, specifically, the "<name>context=APPLICATION,name=app1</name>" change "app1" to be "AllMyApp".
Is this possible? ideally, I do not want to re-deploy the application. I'm not sure what files in application(I have both Web and EJB based applications) kept the name to point to above names in system-jazn-data.xml

I mean to say we have deployed one application and that application appears as a web-DynPro application in PCD. Then i copied that application and pasted in the application folder as a page(PCD object). The page in the folder and application in webdynpro application both are having the same name.
Now when i changed the name of the application in webDynPro (By re factoring) and deployed. The name in PCD in webdynPro application get changed but the PCD object in Folder becomes like a warning sign and shows that broken delta link.
Now i want to know can i edit the link of the object so that it can point to the exect application or i have to copy the application and again paste as PCD object in the folder and then assign again to all 20 roles.

How To Change Application Name In Portals

Hi Experts,
Our scenario is like that we have created one application with name say "ABC". It was running fine and we assigned that application to 20 roles. now we want to rename the application name say "XYZ". Do we need to change the new renamed application for each role or is there any way to do it with less effort and time.

The date Change Dynamically?

Go to your report and open report atributes. There you can choose the options for column names. Click on the pl/sql function and type this in:
DECLARE v varchar2(20);
begin
v := to_char(SYSDATE, 'dd.mm.yy')||':'||to_char(SYSDATE+1, 'dd.mm.yy');
RETURN v;
END;
This will set the first two columns to the specified dates. You can use this as one option.
If the case is more complicated than you can do the following:
1. create a number of items on your page - hidden
2. compute the items with values once the page is loaded
3. use item substitute string &ITEM. in the column name, which will use the item value as a name for the column.
This way you are more flexible since you can use the item values for some columns only and have the other columns hardcoded.

It is possible to change the but it is probably more sensible to a new application and then use LCM to move everything to the new application.

Changing file name dynamically in INFOSPOKE

I am using infospoke to export data to third party.
But here file name is constant. I want to change the file name using prefix with time stamp before filename. For example if data is getting extracted today and file name is suppose ABC then it should become 03.06.2009ABC.
Please let me know the process how to achieve this.

Hi dear..ur file will have dynamic date appended in the begining as per the current date..and I do always...so don't worry about that..few more settings are there when you will be specifying logical path..
go to transaction file
1.say yes on cross client message
2.double click on the logical path definition..check if there already specified logical path..for you..(you may find it out by clicking on another tcode AL11)
once you know it..you can find the details by clicking on assignment of physical path ...
if its not present..i dont' hope so..then create one..eg. ZLOGTEST
.Logical path    ZLOGTEST
Name            Logical file Path Definition(folder path)
Syntax group    UNIX       Unix compatible
Physical path   /transfer/<FILENAME>   (here it depends on ur application server folder check AL11)
3.Now click on Logical file name definition
Logical file    ZTEST_INFOSPOKE
Name            ZTEST_INFOSPOKE
Physical file   /<SYSID>/<DATE>_ZTEST_.CSV
Data format     ASC
Applicat.area   BW
Logical path    ZLOGTEST
when u would have defined logical path in step 2 the only u can use it in step 3.
Ti will work always..to add time also use tab <TIME> in between...if u want..

i've four tab pages in a portal page and i want to change the labels of these tab pages dynamically taking data from table.
for example i've a table named TAB_TITLES with thest columns TAB_ID,TAB_NAME
there are four rows
TAB_ID TAB_NAME

2 Tab-2
and so on
i want to read values from this table and put the tab label in oracle portal page having tabs.

Similarly, what is the BADI for changing Web dynpro ABAP applictaion name? Currently its triggering HAP_MAIN_DOCUMENT.

I don't know, if there is any chance to get the Webdynpro application name. At least in the ABAP System fields is no information about the webdynpro application name.
One remark: I have allways problems with BAPIS / BADIS that behave different depending on the caller. Could it be a good idea to pass some information through the interface / parameters?

Changing tab name in one component that used in different applications -FPM

Hi gurus,
I have an FPM component configuration, which have different tabs.
This component i have used in different applications.
I just want to know how can I dynamically change the name of one tab in different applicatins?
I want to change only the tab name. content in the tab is same.
For eg. If I open a Bid from Rfx, it should show "Rfx Information" as one tab name. But if i open a bid from Auction, it should show 'Auction Information'.
Content in this tab is same.
Is there any way to do that? Or shall I create different component config. for bid to use in Auction application and another one for RFx application?

I want to send an e-mail to multiple recipient by the setting "e-mail bursting" in broadcaster. Each e-mail has an attachment (pdf-document).
Is it possible, to change the name of the attachment dynamic, when sending the mail to the different recipients (example:
recipient 1: recipient1.pdf,
recipient 2: recipient2.pdf,
and so on)
I tried a solution with text variables, but it didn't work.
