Change AU preset by Patch changing

Hi again.
New funny trouble !
(of course because i'm noob)
I have a nice plug-in called Camel Audio Alchemy. Really love it.
Also i have a tons of presets for it.
But i confused - how i can change Alchemy presets with Patch changing ?
I create MS patch with Alchemy, and copy-paste many Aliases of them in other Patches. But i have only one preset in all patches.
I need to change that. What the right way ?
In another words i need activate changing Plug-In some preset when i activate some MS patch.
like:
Patch 1 - Alchemy (alias) -> Guitar Preset
Patch 2 - Alchemy (alias) -> Lead Preset
Patch 3 - Alchemy (alias) -> FX Preset
Patch 4 - Alchemy (src) -> Somepreset
All four patches use The only One Alhemy instance. Some case with Kontakt.
This need because every Patch load plug-in instance by default. This way need a lot of memory and CPU resources.
How i can switch that ? (red arrow showing my preset name, blue arrow ... i didn't remember why i draw it )
(I'm ask because it's a not good idea - run MANY Alchemy instances, instead of only one)
Thanks..

Hi
With Alchemy, you will have to load up new instances for each MS Patch.
With Kontakt, you can load multiple sounds in one instance, then use Alias Channel Strips with correct use of Multi-timbral MIDI input to access the sounds separately.

  • [solved]patch 2.6.29-3-ARCH confilict with aufs2

After checked the aufs2 standalone code and 2.6.29-3-ARCH patch, I found 2.6.29-3-ARCH confilict with aufs2...
    2.6.29-3-ARCH changed the do_splice_from of fs/splice.c to vfs_splice_from...   while aufs2 standalone need do_splice_from ...
And there is no such change on kernel official patch 2.6.29.1...
    So,
If you need aufs2 support, abandon 2.6.29-3-ARCH patch is the best way...

2.6.29.1-2-ARCH patch already contained aufs patch, use vfs_splice_from...

  • Mainstage 2.2.1 and MAC OSX Lion update 10.7.4 CRASH!

    hello there.
I'm dealing with an issue with mainstage and the last update from apple's OS, 10.7.4. The mainstage software (witch is intended for live - and steady - use) is crashing often after the OS update. I'm a professional musician and last night a had the third gig in a row with several problems with my setup. Mainstage starts behaving very strangely, a white intermitent bar appears in both sides of the section with the CPU usage and other infos in the top of the edit window. Then i suddenly can't change preset nor patches. the octaves are wrong and the sounds too. then comes the "rolling ball of mac" anouncing something really wrong. After the first time it happened and mainstage crash until closed, i managed to reopen it in the middle of the gigs... it was very stressing and frustrating.
before the last show, yesterday, I searched for answers in forums and here I found that maybe installing the update from appstore would end this issues. so I did, even being an owner of the logic bundle witch came with mainstage, and paid 29 dollars for the software again. the install was alright but the problems remain (actually it was the worst scenario in a gig for me ever...)
PLEASE HELP! i'm a recent user of the mac system, i have late 2009 macbook pro with mainstage 2.2.1 running mac OSX 10.7.4.
I cant afford having this kind of issues in the middle of my job! this become a real problem for me!
in case anyone would ask, NO, i haven't made a time machine backup in order to roll back the OS. my bad.
    thanks,
    piero

Its disconcerting to say the least to see that last post by SmithBurg was one year ago.  Disconcerting because there didnt appear to be a clear cut solution to an issue that seems to be happening to many users in that for whatever user's MS setups were doing at the time, the end result is that the program quits "unexpectantly" during a show.
I had been using MS originally on a late 2009 MB pro, and as my patches evolved, I started having several issues which would quit MS.
I did find what seemed to be a solution by reinstalling the OS to 10.6.8, and and new "unclogged" system seemed to fix the issue.  HOWEVER....a few months later and it "quit unexpectantly" in the middle of a show, or I couldnt get my focusrite scarlet 8i6 inteface to work in preferences...(had to use the MB pro minijack out!!   Which was very noisy with the power supply and I do NEED the power supply for a 4 hour show  (that old banana)
    I digress......
So, i think my laptop has had its day with all the issues id been having, and I go out 2 months ago and buy Apple's flagship macbook pro for $4200, with the idea that the ultra high specs of the laptop should do the trick.
MS reinstalled....I dont use 3rd party plugs as im content with MS sounds, (although i did install kontact to try out and it was far too memory intensive, so dont actually use it.
So for 1 month I play various shows with no issues.  I have not changes the setup at all EXCEPT adding one patch that I made.
Then one gig last month it happens again.  I'm flabbergasted now.      "MS quit unexpectantly"  but I DONT have wi-fi connected at the random venue, and CANT send apple the error report.
My only choice is to reboot and attempt to get the flow of the show back up again.   Thus loosing the error report.
I NEED a solution, and I cant understand what the error report is even saying.
SPENDING $4200 on a new laptop, and if i had hair, I'd be pulliing it out.SHOULD I HAVE GONE HARDWARE INSTEAD?  I know MS now, SO used to it, and i love MS far too much if only it worked for more than 5 seconds.
    PLEASE APPLE HELPPPPPPPP!
or any kind users out there with some kinda fault finding knowledge

  • Guitar Rig 2 as audio track insert - preset (patch) change?

I'm either missing something painfully obvious, or it's even harder than I think...
I'm trying to set up to play live using Logic Express 7 for accompaniment and automated control of GR2.
I've set up an audio track with "GuitarRig2 MFX" as an insert. I can see every single parameter within GR2 as controllable with automation EXCEPT the preset (patch). I want to simply change patches at various points in the song. It seems impossible.
This is on a PowerBook G4 laptop. I am using an Edirol FA-66 (firewire) as the audio interface. I have the RigKontrol connected, but not implemented as an audio interface, as there can only be one at a time.
As an experiment, I set up a track with GR2 as an Instrument, and can change patches, but that instance of GR2 is different from the one used as an insert, so the patch change doesn't help.
So, in Logic Express 7, how do I get an automatic patch change to GR2 as an insert (plug-in) on an audio track?

I haven't done this myself yet, but why would you want to do that? You can freeze the track and eliminate the CPU load.
However, if it's not CPU load that concerns you, then you could simply route the output of the track containing GR2 to a new audio track (instead of the main output), solo the two tracks, and record-enable the 2nd track. Press record and go...
I think that should do the trick...hope I didn't miss anything.

  • Why aren't patch changes part of the AU spec?

I'm working with a Novation Remote25Sl and the new Automap 3 software with Logic. So far, it's kind of working. But kind of not... And it's brought up a question that's nagged me for a while now.
Why is something as simple as "+/- patch" not a fundamental part of the AU instrument spec? I mean, shouldn't it be dang simple to map a midi controller so that when you're playing MiniMonsta, or the impOSCAR or FM8, etc, you can just hit buttons to go back and forth through the patches without having to grab your mouse?
We're talking 1980's basic Midi functionality here folks... Anybody out there part of the AU developer community who'd care to comment? I swear, it would make software instruments so much more FUN if they could improve the "no mouse" experience.
    Um, please?
Any workarounds Im missing? Yes, I know Logic's built in synths have key commands that be assigned to next/previous preset. I use'em all the time. But that's no good for 3rd party AU's. And as I say, wouldn't this be something you'd expect as part of the basic parameters for any instrument? Or do you think they deliberately left it out to discourage people from changing patches in the middle of a track, causing unpredictable CPU spikes, etc?
    Hmmmmm

While I agree with you (the level of patch handling, although we have massive resources now, is in many other ways inferior to what we had when we were all using MIDI sequencers and hardware instruments) - speaking to instrument developers, realtime patch changing is generally regarded as a headache.
This is why the favoured approach is to have multiple instruments loaded (eg how Mainstage does patches) and switch between instruments, rather than having one instrument switch patches.
Now, for most of my instruments, I set them up with Logic settings, specifically so I can have keyboard/MIDI commands to switch patches - but there some instruments that can't be handled like this.
I wish some DAW developer really took this whole patch/instrument management area for plugins and developed a top-modern, elegant and comprehensive solution.
    Ideally, in Logic please!

  • Which patch parameters "reset to saved value" on changes and which don't?

Despite having the preferences patch set to "reset to saved" AND all screen control inspector attributes set to "preference", AND updating to 2.0.1, I can't make sense out of why some parameters reset to "as-saved" and some don't when changing patches away then back again to a patch. Which parameters reset and which don't quite random and despite many tests and much manual reading I can't figure out the logic, so to speak.
I've been testing by changing a screen parameter on a patch, switching to another patch, then switching back to the first patch, expecting the first patch to be as it was when the concert was opened or last saved. Not so. I've tried this in many different concert templates and only gotten very inconsistent hair-pulling-out results despite much reading of manuals. I know that concert-level parameters take precedence over patch parameters but I'm testing what I am quite sure are patch parameters -- like instrument volume, or drive gain, or filters, etc. -- which do not perform consistently.
Eg: usually but not always, volume does NOT reset back to saved position when I return to a patch I moved it away from saved position on. Sometimes, but not always, deeper parameters like drive volume or bell volume (EP88) or EXS88 parameters will revert back to as-saved in one concert or even set, then in another they won't. On one of the preset concerts, everything works great ("Tonewheel organ"). On another, it's all over the map ("Keyboard with patches") with inconsistencies.
SO: Can anyone clarify if there's a certain type or family of patch parameters that I shouldn't expect to reset? Or are the factory patches buggy? Or is this still a buggy part of MainStage? Or am I looking at this wrong? Or what? Ahhhgggrrrrr.
This is a big deal as my keyboard tech and I prepare to use or not use MainStage's indredibly promising sounds on a European tour. I really want to, as I really hear a difference b/n even the best hardware and MS, but I have to know what to expect on stage. I was really hoping the new update would fix this, but no difference.
    Thanks much for any clarification,
    Neil

Actually I think the light bulb just went off, and it is indeed a semantic definition conflict. I thought "revert to saved" was about going back to the untweaked (saved) version of a patch every time you navigated back to it while playing, like in my hardware keyboard example. Upon dissection, I realize that this is about what happens when you actually SAVE the file after playing it; it either saves the file with changes to parameter values (keep current value) or saves the file without keeping the changed values (revert to saved).
The reason for the confusion is two-fold:
One why wouldn't you just "close without saving" if you want to revert to the saved values after playing? Like one does in other programs when you tweak away but want to retain the original version. Seems like overkill to have a preference dedicated to this, maybe you know the design philosophy.
Second, the language is very confusing:
The manual says, in this section, "You can set the default to either have parameters keep their current value when changing patches, or to reset their values to the last saved value".
This sounds like a behavior when changing patches. It's actually trying to say that this is the behavior for when you're saving after the playing time is over. Should have said "When saving a aconcert, you can set the default to either have parameters keep their current value including all changed patch parameters, or to reset their values to the last saved value, ignoring any changed patch parameters".
I still don't understand the reason for this VERY CONFUSING preference versus just closing without saving.
I'd appreciate it if you could confirm if we're looking at this correctly now, which would mean we have to re-think our tech approach to concerts.
Thanks for the help and sorry for the confusion, but hopefully now you understand the reasons.
    Neil

I am a single acoustic player and I use Abelton to play a backing track and control my lighting, but I am having trouble figuring out how to setup up Guitar Rig and my MIDI channels apparently.
I am looking to be able to change from one guitar patch (like a clean sound) to a dirty sound (lead solo) automatically (eliminating the need to do the foot pedal Riverdance while playing live), but I can’t seem to figure this out after two days.  I see the presets in the list, but for the life of me I can’t seem to make this work.
I dragged the plug in to a newly created "return" and then attempted to create a two new MIDI channels to perform the desired bank and preset changes.  But this did not work.
I then dragged the Guitar Rig 5 plugin into a newly created "audio" track, and tried to do the same thing, but that hasn't worked either.  Under the "send to" MIDI section I can select "Guitar Rig" from the drop down, but afterward I can not select the box below---which I would think would allow me to select the MIDI channel I want to sent the command for bank changes and preset changes.
The goal is to have Guitar Rig 5 changing presets automatically, so I can play through a song and at the appropriate time the GR5 plugin would switch from clean channel to distorted---for example, for a lead solo part.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi
Mainstage will not pass through Program Change messages to plugins. I have not succeded with (quick) attempts to get GR to respond to MIDI CC either.
You might do better to simply make additional Patches (or combinations of Audio and Instrument Patches) rather than try to control GR5 directly.

  • How to save changes to preset instruments

I make changes to the preset instruments (reverb/echo/etc) and I would like to save the instruments so I can use them in different projects.  Is it possible?

When you change the settings for a patch and then click the name of the patch again in the Inspector, GarageBand 10 should show the following prompt:
Click "Save as" to name the patch and save the settings.
If you want to use the saved settings again, you will find them in the "user Settings" section of the Library Inspector.

  • Is there a way to change AU plugin presets via MIDI?

Unfortunately the internal preset system of a third party plugin that i use isn't accessible for MIDI mapping. So i just figured out i could use Mainstages own plugin preset handling. I need to control the "next preset" and "previous preset" buttons in the generic plugin header via MIDI, but to my surprise it doesn't show up anywhere as a possible mapping target, nor can i just use program change messages. Neither for built in nor for third party plugins.
I know in Logic the preset changing is easily accessible for MIDI, so why isn't it in Mainstage?
Changing presets would be way more efficient than adding tons of extra patches or sets that complicate the whole concert, so i am happy about any advice.
    cheers

    Hi MiloszCzeslaw,
    Big question
The first answer is no (a thing apple forget...) but It can be done with some time to setup things.
Can you send your concert (or patch) or try to explain what you really wanna do (which AU...)
If you send me the concert I will try to configure it to you.
    Hope I´ve helped.
(moodysenor the same applies to you)

  • EXS24 Randomly Dropping/Changing Presets

    This is maddening.
When I open a saved Mainstage concert, the EXS24 will occasionally lose its preset for 2 or 3 of the instruments I have set up (and aliased in various patches), defaulting to a generic sine wave. Sometimes it happens right at load-in, sometimes during a patch change.
This is the last thing I need in the middle of a concert.
Today it went even weirder, it decided that instead of "Steinway Grand Piano" I needed "Piano + Strings". I have NEVER used P+S in any of my patches, ever. *** is it doing? Is this disk corruption? Permission issues? Or is there some bug I need to be aware of?

BTW, have you changed the EXS prefs recently? There's a setting for key commands for Next & Prev Instrument and I just wondered if they had been touched.

  • How to ... change the default for "patch name" when doing the assemlby?

    Hi all,
how to change the default settings for the "patch name" in the assembly step?
By default the name will be set to <trackID>.<timestamp> and I would like to have something else ...
    Best regards
    and thanks for any help
    Michael

I don't think you can - there's nothing in the documentation indicating how you can change the default.  I wouldn't be surprised if there was a configuration file somewhere that contained an assembly name template, but altering it (assuming it exists) would certainly be at your own risk.
You could always open an OSS note against BC-CTS-CMS and ask.

  • Unable to open email inbox or files. screen changed suddenly last night. got some message about patch not being applied. i have the patience of a gnat and have no clue how to fix this issue. HELP! in English

    for (i = 0; i < str.length; i++) {
    switch (c = str.charAt(i)) {
    case ' ':
    case '#':
    case '?':
    case '%':
    s += NN ? '_' : escape(c); break
    default:
    s += c
    return s
NO issues seen, Able to open attachment which has space in the file name.

  • How to change the presets in pop-up menus (CS6 or CR 7, example Photo Filter) with arrow keys?

How to change the presets in pop-up menus (CS6 or CR 7, example Photo Filter) with arrow keys an see at the same time the changes on the photo?
It worked under Windows, now I use OS 10.8 and have to apply a preset with a click or Return button but after that the pop-up menu close so I have to open it once again to change a preset. Please help. Thank you!

The filter panel is a shortcut for the content panel and it only effects the content of that window. So if you have a folder it will only see this as a folder and not with its content. (a Stack behaves about the same, being different in only counting the first file in the filter panel criteria but not what is in the stack itself)
You have a view work arounds, first is use menu view / show items from subfolders (this can take some time especially if you have not used caching before on this content) and this builds visible thumbs for all content and that can be used for filtering.
Or use the find command (Edit / find) and inhere specify the source and fill in the criteria include subfolders and this will give you the correct result.
When you create a smart collection the find command also pops up given you the same opportunity to get the results in a collection, but since a collection is only a bunch of aliases referring to the originals you might be a bit careful with editing and deleting.
