Change Color Settings through Scripting

We're having an issue at my work where Photoshiop is frequently losing its Color Settings. Is there a way to modify these settings through scripting, so I can have it run automatically? The settings are:
Working Spaces
RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1
Color Management Policies
RGB: Covert to Working RGB
Turn off “Ask when opening” for profile mismatches and missing profiles
Conversion options
Intent: Perceptual

May be one of these will help…? Add to the event manager… You should really be looking at why this happens thou… Change to suit your settings name…

Is there any way to change registry settings through forms10g at runtime.
my software is dual language suopportable. but i have to set NLS_LANG in registry either AMERICAN_AMERICA. or ARABIC_KUWAIT. to set direction from LEFT for english and RIGHT for arabic respectively.
when i run in english i change registry NLS_LANG to AMERICAN_AMERICA while when i run in arabic change registry NLS_LANG to ARABIC_KUWAIT and then run the application.
but now i want that when i select language ARABIC some proceadure will change the NLS_LANG to ARABIC_KUWAIT similarly when i select language ENGLISH the NLS_LANG to AMERICAN_AMERICA .
have any idea any one?

Hopefully someone can suggest something simpler, but my best guess (I have not yet tried this) would involve writing a JavaBean and a JNI DLL that interfaces between your JavaBean and the Windows API.
Since much of the Windows API uses Pascal calling conventions, linking against its DLLs can be a hassle. Most examples that I've found, for compiling such DLLs have called for Visual C++, but I believe it should also be possible under Cygwin (http://www.cygwin.com/), but not necessarily more straightforward.
Sorry to give just a hint, but that's where my experience ends!

Change color settings in Photoshop CS4 js

Hi,
I need to set color settings when I save_As my doc. This what I have, but it's not working:

Scritp runs without problemes, but color settings remain not set. I do have the setting file saved in myFinalPath location.

app.colorSettings returns a string. The contents of that string depends on your current color settings.
You have assigned two meaningless properties to the colorSettings properties. The script runs without errors because javascript lets you create new properties. But the new properties don't do anything unless the script uses them after creating them.
If you are trying to load a colorsettings file you can use this function.

If you are trying to set the document's profile when saving you can use document.convertProfile()

Distiller: can't change color settings anymore

I just tried to change some settings in a specific Distiller (8) setting, but when I press Cmd-E and get to all the option tabs, I cannot acces the color tab! When I click on the word color the screens stays as it is and the little tab turns grey. After that I can't press OK or cancel: I can only switch between other tabs... Anyone knows what went wrong here? I really need to change those settings!

Hi; now I could solve the problem for me. I had to remove my Photoshop10 color profile from Mac/Users/.../Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/Color/Settings/ because it must have been corrupted by other CS3 applications (Illu13, Indy5 etc.). Then I created a new color profile there using 'Photoshop10 > Edit > Color Settings', and to be sure I created for each CS3 app a separate one (I named it ColSetPhotoshop, ColSetIllustrator, ColSetIndesign etc.) and selected it in each app, so that those corruptions cannot occur in the future. NEVERTHELESS: ADOBE SHOULD AVOID THOSE INSECURITIES IN THEIR PRODUCTS!
After doing so, Distiller's color tab is functioning normally.

Do not use any other colour parameters than those made with Adobe photoshop or those which are pre-installed.
If you create personal colour parameters with Illustrator or Indesign, this drives Distiller to crash when hitting the colour tab in the pdf settings.
Remove all personal colour parameters (User > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Color > Settings) except those made with Photoshop.

Crash when changing color settings

InDesign CS3 5.0.3.
4 machines. 3 are exactly the same hardware-wise with 10.4x. 1 is new with 10.5x.
I'm changing the color settings for CS3. I put new .csf and .icc files in their proper libraries.
I change PS color settings on all. Happy happy.
I change the Bridge "Creative Suite Color Settings" on all. Happy happy.
2 machines (both 10.4x)--InDesign opens/works fine. The other two don't want to have anything to do with this new color settings---crash crash crash. Delete color settings preference and all is well.
The situation is the same if I DON'T change the "creative suite color settings" in Bridge and try to change the color settings only in INDD.
Has anyone else run into something similar?

i am using flash cs3 on a macbook pro and have never had such issue.
i would contact adobe about it. They have excellent support. i have called them on other issues and i always get very professional service.

Printer won't let me change Color Settings!!!

So I have the Envy 4502, and I CANNOT change my printer settings to print photos in grayscale OR black and white. It won't let me do ANYTHING but color. WHY is this printer so hard to effin' use? My last HP NEVER gave me this kind of trouble. It had an easy-to-use user interface and actually let me CHANGE MY SETTINGS.
What the heck am I doing wrong?!

You can update via iTunes and the computer if necessary. Also, what troubleshooting have you tried. A reset is generally something that will fix things like this. It has not affect on your data. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot.

MBP Changes color settings after sleep

After my computer goes to sleep, it has recently been waking up with a different color setting. Where the yellows are very dull and the screen has a blue hue. When I go to System Pref > Displays it changes back to normal without me clicking anything. It is getting very annoying, anyone know why it is doing this?
My computer is connected to a 24" LED cinema display which doesn't change colors on its own. The laptop has also done this without being connected to cinema display.

This happens to me, also.
Just as you described - it happens when connected to an external display and when not connected.
It happens to me even without sleep; screensaver is enough.
I have my computer set to ask for a password after sleep/screensaver. Do you?

P.S. I just did a search of the forums - this is apparently a very common problem, dating back at least to Leopard. I haven't seen a definitive fix for it yet.

Changing package structure through scripts

I have a project with huge number of files(around 2 thousand).
I want to change the package structure of my source files.Previously no consistent approach is followed.so i want to correct that now.
I can map each file to a new package structure.
example: mypackage\common\sample.java = app\comon\Using this input i want to correct oackage and releated imports in my java files.Can any one help me write the best one
or even if anyone can point to anything of this sort written earlier it would be of great help to me.

package and import statements in the depending filesThis would still be a simple search and replace just with "package " and "import " in front of the package name to search for. But you would still have problems whenever the following is used:
a.b.c.d.F bogus = new a.nb.c.d.F();As a matter of fact, simple search and replace (as long as it is done on the entire package name and not just parts of it) is probably your best bet, if you do not want to go the IDE way. There would probably still be a few mistakes, but there shouldn't be many (if your mapping is reliable). The other problem is would be if classes in one package are to be split into multiple packages, then have fun with any script you write to do it.

What happens if you use
Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Personalization
to change the background color?
Why do you want to use the registry to set the background color anyway?
Are you using a third party theme?
Do you have any GPO's applied to your machine?

How to change colors settings -- newbie to mac

I was messing around with the settings and selected to polarize the image so that it looks like a photo negative. I feel like a moron so far in using the mac and i cant find how to switch it back to normal. Any help is appreciated.

If you mean the whole screen has turned negative, open the Universal Access preference pane (in System Preferences in the Dock) and in the 'Seeing' tab, click a checkmark against 'Black on White'. You can also switch between 'normal' and reversed modes with Cmd/Opt/Crtl/8.
If you mean an image such as a scan or photo, it depends on which software you're using!

Color Settings Do Not Persist

Hello-
Every time I close and reopen Photoshop (CS4) it seems to revert to using sRGB as Working Space, and Preserve Embedded Profiles for all three types of color file. I have to go into Color Setttings and change these settings to what I want. I know hae them in a Settings fiile, so it's not hard, but often I forget and find myself working in the wrong colorspace for days before I discover it.
Why doesn't PS leave my settings as the default the next time it opens? Do I have to go somewhere else to choose my settings as default? That would seem like very clusmy design on Abode's part.
Another thing that seems annoying: at the top of the dialog it says "Unsynchronized: Your Creative Suite applications are not synchronized for consistent color." Well, thanks for letting me know, but it would have been more helpful if it gave me at least a pointer to a solution.

I have the same problem. I installed both the Photoshop CS4 Extended and InDesign CS4 trial version. When I try to change color settings for each application individually or when I try to change Creative Suit Colour Settings in Bridge CS4 Color Settings jump back to American General Porpuse 2.
Has someone of you come up with a sollution yet. If so I sure would like to learn about it.

Edit Color settings (Bridge/InDesign)

Hi all, today in office we have a discussion about Edit > Color settings (we use this setting from Bridge for syncro).
The question is: if i change Color settings (es. i change the rgb or cmyk working space) from InDesign i change only the swatches color? Is this correct? Because the graphic imported can (or not) maintain their color profile. What is wrong?

Color Settings is an application preference—you are setting the color preferences for new documents. So changing the Working Spaces in Color Settings will only affect existing documents if they have no color profile assigned (i.e., the Color Management Policies were set to Off when the document was created). If you want to change a document's profile you have to do it via Edit > Assign or Convert to Profile...
1) if i draw a frame filled cyan swatch, this color have the profile color that i set in the color settings?
All native colors are assigned the document's profile (see Edit > Assign profiles...). The assigned profile isn't necessarily the same as the current Color Setting's working space
2) if i import graphic with or without icc profile the assignment will be only when i export pdf, is it correct?
If an imported CMYK graphic has no profile embedded, or the document's CMYK policy is Off or Preserve Numbers (Ignore Linked Profiles), it will be assigned the document's profile.
When you export a PDF, the Output settings tab determines whether colors will be converted or profiles will be included.

Changing Text Color Through Scripting?

Is it possible to change the color of a text field within a
display icon through scripting ?
Basically using a calc icon I want to display text within a
display icon and change the text color as well. Ideally I would
like to use authorware's RGB function to change the text colour.

No. You have two choices. The first is something like this:
{varRed}{varBlue}{varGreen}
the {varRed} text would be red
{varBlue} would be blue
{varGreen} would be green.
Then:
varRed := "This is some text"
varBlue := varGreen := ""
Your text would be red if Update Displayed Variables was
checked on the
icon.
You can also use RTF Objects, which will allow you to set
font color using
named colors or hexadecimals.
