Change drag 'n drop sound?

How do I change the sound played when you drag and drop something into a new folder? I know you can change the alert sounds under 'sound' in the system prefs...are there also sounds to choose from for drag and drop?

Hello Lisa,
I did some searching around on my system and found the OS sound files to be hidden in this folder:
System:Library:Components:CoreAudio.component:Contents:Resources:SystemSounds
To open the CordAudio.component you will have to "show package contents" by right-clicking (or control-clicking) to bring up the contextual menu.
I might suggest you back-up the sound files in case you decide to change back to them. You can keep them where they are and rename them from .aiff to .bak, or simply hide them in a different folder.

  • Set default import format when drag and drop sound file into multitrack view?

    I've looked around the preference panels but cannot find where to set the import settings for dragging and dropping sound files into multitrack view. Some of our computers have correct settings and others do not. Thanks for your help!

    I should have been more specific, sorry... I mean bit depth and bit rate... On some machines this defaults correctly and on other machines it is wrong. Not sure how to set these to downconvert properly by default. Unless it automatically takes the format of the source file, in which case it's just been luck.
    Thanks,

  • Change drag 'n' drop format in a datagrid (or other list based control)

    I want to use the built in drag'n'drop support in the data grid, but it uses the format of "items". Is there any way to change the format that a list control uses for the drag source?

    I think you need to tweak the default drag and drop behavior manually.

  • Change drag and drop cursor

    My application lets users drag files from their desktop and drop them onto a Jtree. I wrote this test app to see if I could change the drag cursor by defining the dragenter method. But the cursor doesn't change until the drop is complete.
    In my final app I want the cursor to change to the "no drop" symbol when the user tries to drop files in certain nodes. But in this test I'm simply trying to see if the cursor will change at all.
    The only examples I could find were apps dragging components from the applet, in which case they tied their compents to a DragSource object. In my case the drag is coming from outside the applet. Any help would be appreciated.
    public class UploadGUI extends Applet implements DropTargetListener{
    public void init()
         DefaultMutableTreeNode root = new DefaultMutableTreeNode("Root");
         DefaultMutableTreeNode child1 = new DefaultMutableTreeNode("Child");
         root.add(child1);
         DefaultTreeModel treemodel = new DefaultTreeModel(root);
         JTree tree = new JTree(root);
                    dropTarget = new DropTarget(tree, this);
                    jscroll = new JScrollPane(tree);
                    add(jscroll);
    public void dragEnter(DropTargetDragEvent dtde)
        jscroll.setCursor(DragSource.DefaultMoveNoDrop);
    }

    try DragSourceListener instead and implement the dragOver method.

  • Change Drag and Drop Cursor/Icon

    When a drag and drop starts, a default icon/image appears under the cursor.
    Is there any way to change this icon/image ?
    thanks

    See this thread Drag/Drop cursor image
    The short answer is no.

  • Cannot change target sound in drag and drop to "no sound" once a default sound is selected in Captivate 8

    I was trying out all the options for a drag and drop interaction in Captivate 8 and selected one of the default sounds for a target. I want to change it back to "no sound", but the selection never sticks. Is there something I'm missing or is this a "feature"?

    When you go to the “Format” tab of the drag and drop properties, there is an option called “audio” (right below the “depth” option).
    It has default sounds you can pick (sound1, sound2, sound3, and incorrect sound). Or you can browse to an audio file. If I select one of the default sounds, and then decide not to use any sound, it will not change to the “none” option. I have to delete the drag and drop interaction and start over.

  • Drag and Drop to Change Order of a Collection

    I have created a collection and now want to change the order of the photos in the collection. I try to select a photo to drag and drop it to the correct position.
    Sometimes I can do this, other times I can't.
    If I exit and reenter Lightroom, the problem of not being able to drag and drop is corrected.
    Any ideas about a workaround for this bug without exiting and restarting Lightroom?
    Thanks,
    Harry

    Harry,
    You have to be at the lowest level of a folder/collection to get drag and drop to work.
    If you have 'Include Photos from Subitems' unticked then you can sort in higher up folders/collections, but this only shows items in the actual collection/folder.
    If you have images in multiple collections that you want to sort in order, select them and then Ctrl N (Cmd N on Mac ) to create a new collection. Tick the use selected photos box and name the new collection. Make sure it's at the bottom of a collection tree (or on it's own) and then sort inside the new collection.
    When dragging, drag from the image itself, not from the border around it.

  • Drag and Drop to Change Order in a List

    Does anyone know of an example where there is the ability to drag and drop elements in a list and thus change their order? (I.E. drag item one below item two and then item one and two change locations)
    Thanks!

    Check out http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/misc/dnd.html
    There's an example towards the end of the page for drag-and-drop between 2 JLists. Might be a good starting point.

  • Drag and Drop and save changes

    I am attempting to make an application that gives users a vast selection of icons that they can drag and drop into their own area which act as links to sites once they are double clicked but when they are clicked a single time they bring up a panel which shows the name of the website, a video about the website, a link to the website and a description of the website.
    Similar to this example except whenever any of the icons are single clicked they will bring up an information panel or link to the relevant site if they are double clicked:-
    http://demo.quietlyscheming.com/DragTile/DragDrop.html
    The drag and drop part is easy but I'm basically wondering what would be the best way to achieve this so that all data required is stored 'within' each icon? i.e. how can you store information such as a title and description within an icon so that it only appears once it is clicked and what would be the best possible component to use for the overall icon 'grid' and the icons themselves?
    This may sound silly but I've only just started using Flex and I'm simply looking for suggestions.

    Thanks my friend that helped me a lot and works well.
    I have another question for you, if I want to allow the users to SAVE the positions of the links they add how would I go about this? What I mean is if a user drags and drops some icons from a tilelist on the right hand side to their own tilelist in their own profile area how will I allow these tiles to still be saved in the same position if the user closes then reopens the application? I want each user to be abler to create their own list of links and then save these for future uses.
    Is there a simple way of achieving this or would it require a vast amount of coding?

  • Drag and drop into playlist not working + changing of timezone

    Hey All
    Ive searched and cant find an answer to this anywhere
    My PC crashed pretty hardcore like (unable to load vista to deauthorize account before formatting PC) so a format ensued, once i formatted i reinstalled itunes and reauthorized my account for my ipod touch did the whole back transfer and delete and resync of my ipod so now i have to put all my music back onto the ipod touch (well not all my music just the stuff i want to listen too)
    So i went and made a new blank playlist (not a smart list) and proceeded to fill ... when i came accross my problem i cant drag music from the library to my new fresh (definitely not a smart playlist) Playlist
    ive checked the "manually manage box" in the ipod summary screen but even when the ipod isnt plugged in i cant drag and drop. i can right click and add to playlist fine ... just not drag and drop
    also when i plug my ipod in it sets my timezone to london and changes my time .... rather annoying considering i use my ipod as an alarm clock
    any assistance is greatly appreciated
    Thanks Rey

  • Drag and Drop Cursor changes - not working

    I have fully implemented a working drag and drop Swing application, but I am running into problems with the cursor.
    My application has some drop targets that set the cursor to DragSource.DefaultCopyNoDrop, and some that set it to DragSource.DefaultCopyDrop. The problem is once I change the cursor DefaultCopyDrop, I can never change it to NoDrop. I can however change it from NoDrop to Drop. I have tried it with jdk1.4 beta3 and rc.
    An example of this cursor behavior can be found at:
    http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-03-1999/jw-03-dragndrop.html
    I found some information related to this at:
    http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4407521.html
    I have tried using a null cursor in the startDrag method.
    Does anyone have a DND example where the cursor consistantly changes to give drop feedback that works with the DND in JDK1.4?
    Dave

    Hi, I also want to implement DND. I am using JRE1.3.1
    I am also facing the cursor change problem. i have passed null in the startDrag method. This problem get solved to some extent, but still many times cursor is not changing. I have created my dragSource and drag Target
    in the Constructor of my tree in a separate thread like
    // IN CONSTRUCTO OF TREE
    SwingUtilities.invokeLater( new Tree_DropTarget(this) );
    SwingUtilities.invokeLater( new TreeDragSource(this,
    DnDConstants.ACTION_MOVE) );
    Than in the target and source class
    publi clas Tree_DropTarget implements DropTargetListener,Runnable
    public Tree_DropTarget(JTree tree)
    m_dropTarget = tree;
    public void run ()
    try
    Thread.sleep(2000);
    catch (InterruptedException e)
    m_dropTarget = new DropTarget (m_targetTree, this);
    Same Way I have done for DragSource.
    Is anything wrong there???
    I am also facing 1 more proble, sometiems DND events are getting fired on navigating through the nodes, even though i am not dragging the node. And getting the Below exception some times
    java.lang.NullPointerExceptionat sun.awt.dnd.SunDropTargetContextPeer.handleMotionMessage(Unknown Source)
         at sun.awt.windows.WToolkit.eventLoop(Native Method)
         at sun.awt.windows.WToolkit.run(Unknown Source)
         at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
    This exception I am not able to get who is throwing as all exceptions i am catching.
    Please help me, if u had any idea about these problems.

  • How to change the effect of drag and drop from MOVE to COPY in alv tree.

    Hi,
    I am using a tool in which now the behaviour on drag and drop is MOVE. I want to change it to COPY.
    But I do not know which parameter needs to be set and where.
    please help.
    Regards,

    Hi,
    Thanks for quick reply.
    The code goes on like this
    METHOD set_dd_behavior.
      DATA: l_copysrc(1) TYPE c,
            l_movesrc(1) TYPE c,
            l_droptarget(1) TYPE c.
    Set the Drag and Drop Flavors.
      CREATE OBJECT dd_behavior.
      READ TABLE reg_functions WITH KEY name_function = 'COPY'
      TRANSPORTING NO FIELDS.
      IF sy-subrc = 0.
        l_copysrc = 'X' .
      ENDIF.
      READ TABLE reg_functions WITH KEY name_function = 'CUT'
      TRANSPORTING NO FIELDS.
      IF sy-subrc = 0.
        l_movesrc = 'X' .
      ENDIF.
      READ TABLE reg_functions WITH KEY name_function = 'PASTE'
      TRANSPORTING NO FIELDS.
      IF sy-subrc = 0.
        l_droptarget = 'X' .
      ENDIF.
      CALL METHOD dd_behavior->add
      EXPORTING
      flavor = 'MOVE'
      dragsrc = l_movesrc
      droptarget = l_droptarget
      effect = cl_dragdrop=>move.
      CALL METHOD dd_behavior->add
      EXPORTING
      flavor = 'COPY'
      dragsrc = l_copysrc
      droptarget = l_droptarget
      effect = cl_dragdrop=>copy.
      CALL METHOD dd_behavior->get_handle
      IMPORTING handle = dd_behavior_handle.
    ENDMETHOD.
    Here what changes needs to be done.
    As I see once COPY is added and next time MOVE is added.
    I am able to check because I am not able to edit while debugging the value of effect.
    Please suggest.
    Warm regards,
    Smita.

  • How to play a sound on drag and drop?

    I've been tasked with creating a drag and drop game for College, and I would like to make it so that when an object is picked up/clicked on, a small 'pop' sound will play, and when it is successfully placed on a target, a slightly different 'pop' sound will play.
    I'm using ActionScript 2.0 on Flash CS5.5.
    I've got the drag and drop done, I just need to add the sound counterpart. I've seen some tutorials, but they're way too vague for me.

    Thanks a lot for that! Managed to get it to work finally.
    Sorry for the late response, I've only just decided to get back to doing the work.

    Well, I don't really understand the DnD interface so maybe my chess board example will be easier to understand and modify:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=57&threadID=518707
    Basically what you would need to do is:
    a) on a mousePressed you would need to create a new JLabel with the icon from the clicked label and add the label to the glass pane
    b) mouseDragged code would be the same you just repaint the label as it is moved
    c) on a mouseReleased, you would need to check that the label is now positioned over your "drop panel" and then add the label to the panel using the panels coordinates not the glass pane coordinates.

  • ICal alarm won't "drag and drop" with changed dates?

    I frequently change appointments on my calendar from one date to the next, but the alarm time stays with the original date and time (so it never alarms or chimes on the new appointment date).
    Any ideas on how to get it to change along with my drag and drop. In other calendar systems, if you have an appointment on the 14th with a 15 minute warning alarm, and then change the date to the 17th, the alarm would then chime 15 minutes ahead of your appointment on the 17th. I know I can manually change it, but this should be automatic.
    Help?

    I just set an event for the 24th with a "2 minute before" alarm. I then dragged it to today 11/19 and the alarm went off 2 minutes before the new event time. I.e., the alarm time was automatically updated. Now if the alarm were set with the "on date" option, I wouldn't expect that to be updated. I'm using iCal Version 4.0.3 (1388).
