Change keyboard input locale

I am building a multilingual application with Designer and Forms 9i under Windows 2000 and wonder if it is possible to fix some text items to only have american input, and other text items to be multilingual.
Or let me rephrase the question - is it possible to somehow switch the Windows input keyboard and language per Forms item. Do I have to use some Windows code to do that??

I am trying but i only get to check/uncheck "command+space" on both of them. My question is how to do it manually?

  • Keyboard Input Locale Error

Using Flex 3.0, targeting fp10, I'm building a rich text
editing component. Most of the keyboard input works just fine but
    there is one bug.
I have a UK keyboard (and my Win Vista system language is
en-GB). When I enter text in my Flex component, however, " and @
are transposed, meaning the input works as if my keyboard were a
standard en-US. Is there a workaround for this? I don't want to
just swap the characters because our app may have users from a
    number of different locales.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I would certainly try another keyboard if at all possible -- could save you lots of time trying to find a potentially non-existent software issue.

  • Change keyboard input language without changing spotlight shortcut

I have bought a macbook air recently and installed a second input language. Instead of changing the input language manually each time I want to have a shortcut but the system seems to have only one option which is the "command+space" shortcut, the one for spotlight. This means that I can not have them both at the same time. Help please!

I am trying but i only get to check/uncheck "command+space" on both of them. My question is how to do it manually?

  • Changing Input Locale

    Hello
I have a problem with an internationalized app. I need to change the input locale of the system depending on which textfield has taken the focus, in this case, from hebrew to english and vice versa without using ALT+SHIFT. I got it using a C library but I need to do it completelly in java. There is any way to do it?
    Thanks a lot

Thank you very much for your answer. I have seen that Locale.setDefault works if I call this before initializing the frame. It changes the locale, and automatically the inputLocale of the system changes, allowing writing in another writing system. But I,m trying to change the input locale when the focus enter in a specific textfield. I don't want just to change formats in the textfield. I would like to change the writing automatically, without using ALT+SHIFT.

  • Default Keyboard input change in using roaming Profile on different Win 7

We found a strange problem on default Keyboard setting.
We are using roaming profiles for all users.
One of our users is using two Windows 7. One Windows 7 is VDI for working out of office and another Win 7 is her local PC.
She is only using Two keyboard input: Chinese Traditional English and Chinese Traditional Pinyin.
Whenever she had used the Windows 7 VDI, when she comes back to office and use her local PC, the default Keyboard input will automatically change to Chinese Traditional Pinyin.
The user said she had not changed any default keyboard input in the VDI of local PC.
Is there anything we can do for this issue?

  • Changing file extensions disables any finder keyboard input

    Hi all,
Well, i just said it. Oftentimes (very often) when I change a file extensions, after clicking yes to the most annoying confirmation dialog a web designer can find on OSX, the finder stops receiving any input from the keyboard.
What happens is that after the extension change, I can select file names and do everything the mouse can do in the finder, but no keyboard input is received, I just cannot type any character whatsoever.
Anyone with the same problem? A solution? A hint?
    I'm on Tiger 10.4.5, xtools2 installed.
    PowerBook G4 15'' 1GHz (512MB RAM)   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   iPod 3G (40GB), External FireWire HD (20GB)

Have you tried trashing Finder prefs? Navigate to ~(yourhome)/library/preferences and trash these two files:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then log out and back in again. Or restart.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

  • Keyboard input flag changed after 10.7.4

    Hello,
After updating from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4, the flag icon for the keyboard input seems to have changed. For every flag, the color seems to have changed a bit, and there is a little black border around it.
Here's how it used to look:
    http://km.support.apple.com/library/APPLE/APPLECARE_ALLGEOS/TS1381/TS1381-02_en. png
    Here's how it looks now:
    http://i46.tinypic.com/2ewzc46.png
    Is this normal?
    Thanks.

I've noticed this, too. It seems to be intentional as I've seen several posts on various websites where people have brought this up. It must just be a stylistic choice that Apple made. Theses ones are more toned back and more modern looking.

  • Keyboard input source change not being saved.

Since upgrading to 10.9 my original French spec Mac Mini reverts to French Keyboard input source when I close down, even after resetting keyboard input source to British PC on the login screen when booting up. Is there a more permanent setting option stored elsewhere?

    Hi Brendan,
Thanks for the link. I did go into system preferences and checked that British was the default setting. In fact it was the only setting. Have subsequently done a bit more research. Up to now I have been changing input source at the initial login screen from French to British. I have just typed my username and password in using a French keyboard layout without changing the input source from French. It gets me in and the default input source is showing as British, which it is picking up from the system preferences. So there must be a setting somewhere that is specific to the login screen.
Done some more searching online and it looks like it may be a bug!

There seem to be a few workarounds https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5485931
However, I have not worked at this level on a Mac before having a background in Windows support, Only recently getting a Mac. The last comment looks like some kind of Unix stuff, which I know OSX is based on.  Is there an idiots step by step guide anywhere to carry out the plist edit etc?

  • Keyboard input source "randomly" changing???

    Keyboard input source “randomly” changing???
Hi: I’m trying to learn the Dvorak keyboard as a touch typer, so I change my input source from “US” which is hunt and peck to “Dvorak”. But, weirdly (at least to me), I will have changed from one input source to the other, and yet 15’ later in a different program the input source is still on the other.
Is there some kind of auto sensing feature where the input source defaults to whatever was used with that document the last time or something like that? If so, is there a way to disable this feature so that what keyboard layout one chooses as an input source always stays that way until manually changed? Or is there another explanation for this behaviour?
    Thank you very much!!!

In System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Input Sources is the option "Automatically Switch To A Document’s Input Source" selected perhaps?
Alternatively, in System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts under Input Sources a shortcut for switching the input source might be selected. Perhaps you inadvertedly type that key combination sometimes.

  • Keyboard input change after Mavericks update.

I am currently using a MacBook 13 inch unibody and since the update to Mavericks my keyboard has changed. I use a Japanese keyboard and have now lost the abilty to enter the at mark @ (that was copied and pasted). A lot of the other keys have moved. I have checked the keyboard input sources and there is only 1 listed for Japanese (kotoeri) which used to work before.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Apple seems to have gone back to the old system where Kotoeri uses the last-active keyboard layout.  Try switching to US in the "flag" menu before switching to Kotoeri and see if that works.

  • Keyboard input changed to wrong language

I'm using a dual g5 desktop running tiger 10.4.4. This morning all keyboard input is in the wrong language. It's greek or one of the symbol fonts. According to the setings in the international panel everything should be set to US English, roman script. I know that CMD+space used to toggle between input choices but that now brings up Spotlight. Is another key combination that toggles the languages? Other settings to check? It's interesting that the input menu tab of the international pane still says use CMD+space to toggle inputs, but that no longer works.
    Help? thanks

According to the setings in the international panel
everything should be set to US English, roman
    script.
The setting that matters is system preferences/international/input menu (not languages). Also make sure you have the box checked for "show input menu in finder," so you can see what keyboard layout is active in the "flag" menu at the top right of the Finder.
