Change Output Device Settings @ Runtime?
This will sound silly, but there is a good reason for it :). Also, I am not much of an ABAPer.
We have a requirement to change output device settings on the fly in a program. For instance, in case A, we would like to use the output device as it was originally configured in SPAD. However, in case B, we would like to override the output device's access method and host dynamically in code.
Is there any function module or technique that can change these output device properties via code at runtime (printtime)?
Thanks,
Kris

When I attempt to change output devices, it causes Logic to crash. Help Please..
I suspect the issue is due to your video format... what format are your videos? Your problem will be solved by converting them to DV-AVI. See this FAQ on conversion:

Change Output Device Of Report
I have been given a request to change the output device (laser printer) of a report within our SAP system. All I know is the report name (YAPR9876), current output device (BH9J), and requested new output device (THBQ).
How can I go about finding this report and updating its output device.
Thanks in advance.Hi
There is a section in IM customising under outout determination and printer determination where youn can make settings as to what prints where.
This report must have a setting and when you find it just change the printer
I hope that this helps -

Turned on my machine and discovered that it had self assigned a program as the sound out put device. It's CD spin doctor from Toast; no audio on it. I removed Toast, emptied the trash and shut down then restarted. It's still listed as the output device. I can't change the device - there's no list - I can't delete it or add another device. any thoughts on how to fix this problem? I have no audio at all.
if there is no audio at all, could be hardware issue.
somebody recommends deleting following preference files:
/Library/Preference/com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10500893
best case it's just corrupted preference files -
Output Device settings for Dot Matrix Printers.
Hi Experts,
I've made a page format according to Dot Matrix paper.But at that time of print,system is showing an error message that your output device is not support to this format.
So,how to define Dot Matrix Printer Setting (Wep LQ DSI 5235) in SPAD?
Regards,
Prashant Sharma.Hi Prashant,
I believe that the page format that you are using in the SPAD for the Output device must have configured with the Device Type as well.
Click on the full administration in the SPAD and then attach the page format to the device type.
Might this will fix your issue.
Pleasce check the reference link:

Change "Output Device" from a bunch of job
Hi,
I've deleted a bunch of printers in SPAD and now, there are some errors in the dev_* logs :
*** ERROR => rspocd: rsporpab failed (0), dest @>DEV:PR645@< [rspopcc.c 2551]
*** ERROR => rspocd: rsporpab failed (0), dest @>DEV:PR645@< [rspopcc.c 2551]
PR645 was one of the old printer I've removed. After investigation, most of job use PR645 as default "Output Device". I would like to know if there are a way to update all jobs using PR654 to PR212?
Thanks by advance,Hi ,
Can you please check these tables.
TSP03A - Device Description
TSP03C - Device Description Extension
TSP03D - Device Description (New Format)
TSP0A - Device Types
TSP01 - Assignment of printers to terminals
The above tables will help you.
Thanks and regards,
Venkat. -
I have been a Firefox user for many years and I still use it as my primary browser. One problem that has bothered me for years is the fact that when Firefox is open and I change my default audio output device, Firefox doesn't respect that change and continues playing audio through the device that was originally being used. Even if you stop the audio and continue playing, the output device doesn't change.
Is there any way this can be configured in Firefox? Now if I listen to music online (e.g. Soundcloud) I always use Chrome since it's respects the default audio output device change even while in the middle of playing audio.
Reproduce:
1. Start playing audio (e.g. from a YouTube video; HTML5 and Flash are affected)
2. Change your default audio output device
3. Audio will continue to play from original output device
Thanks!This is the same issue that has plagued me for years. I always thought that this was a Flash plugin issue, but it does occur on HTML5 as well. A friend of mine verified that this does not occur in Linux, but only on Windows. It would be great to have this fixed, as it's honestly the only thing that's making me use Chrome all the time, as I don't want to have multiple browsers open.

No longer able to mute or change playback output device for capture.
I have no preview button to turn off in my capture window and have instead gone into the FCP preferences to change the playback output device to something other then my Fireface800 IO device, such as the built in output so that what's being captured only comes out the little speaker in the tower.
Thus I am free to work on other stuff. (8 core mac pro, gobs of ram, multitasking has never been a problem, even while capturing HD.)
But as of the latest update (I keep all my apps up to date), capture plays through the System default device no mater what the FCP setting. So with out a mute button for the capture, I'm screwed.
I'm screwed because I have to Mix down an EP while I capture 26 hours of conference footage at the same time. Obviously, I can't mix properly with that chatter playing loudly over it.
Apple said I have to reinstall because there's no preview button and there should be but I am curious if there's any other way (because it's a huge pain in the *** and tends to screw up other things) and I would like to know if the way I usually do it is broken for other people, so I know if I can upgrade to the latest version again because it was some goofball problem with the framework that reinstalling fixed or if not because that's a bug in 7.0.3
1. Choose one audio output (say, Built in Line Output or your default sound card) everywhere that matters in the Final Cut preferences for Audio output, including Audio Playback Output which is what I've been using to switch this for, gosh, years probably just out of habit.
2. Log and Capture, capture some footage from tape. (I happen to be working with a basic HDV firewire profile.) What device do you hear output from?
3. Stop capturing... and, if you wish, for good measure, close the capture window.
4. Go back to FCP preferences, now choose a DIFFERENT audio output, say, Built In Speaker Output.
5. Try to capture some footage. Is the sound coming out of the built in speaker now?
IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO QUICKLY SILENCE THE AUDIO FROM FCP DURING CAPTURE?
Thank you.excuse me, not linksystem, its a verizon FIOS wireless router & modem as part of the package. i was thinking my old setup.

Changing audio output device for currently running program
I'm not sure where to put this question, but all my searching hasn't seemed to find an answer...
If I have a program running, iTunes, VLC, a game, whatever, and want to change audio output from say Line Out to Headphones, I have to restart the program for the change to take effect. Is this by design/normal or am I missing something somewhere?this is actually a quiet significant issue. There is no way in Flash to select the audio output device.
Today people have regular speakers and a separate headset. They all use the speakers for music and the headset for voice. Skype i.e. has the option to choose audio output device and its really handy, because
you dont have to bother to set the default device to the headset everytime you want to use it.
If you set the default device to the headset all other apps will send their audio output to the headset - which is not what you want either.
So people really want to leave the default device set to the speakers and not to the headset.
Nokia did this for Java
JRT 2.1 / Nokia UI API updated to version 1.4:
AudioOutputControl extension for controlling which audio output device, for example the device loudspeaker or earpiece, is used to play back audio
This really is an issue. -
Just connected apple tv. Everything works perfectly but the screen is not in color. I have tried reversing the HDMI cable and changing the output in settings and restarting. The screen is still black and white. Any ideas of how to fix this?

Dears SAPers,
We are having the following problem. The output device is change by one inexistent when the output is executed.
When the user creates the outbound delivery the output is determinate, but not prints yet (status not processed). Here the output device is correct and is the one set in the condition record. Then, when the user executes the post good issue the output device is change by one inexistent call SIS0, and the field Spool request: Name is complete with the name of the message.
Does anyone know what is happening?
I will reward.
Thanks in advance,Hi Emilio,
please first check the entry in table NAST, field LDEST. Is it correct after saving the delivery ?
I think the best is then to set a breakpoint during the creation of the goods issue in function module MESSAGING in order to find out if the printer is changed here. If this does not help please goto TA V/34, find out the used print program and set a breakpoint there (normally at the beginning of form ENTRY).

Output device not changing in Spool
Dear Fellows,
I am having problem in the printing of purchase contracts. Users want to keep the output proposed in contract creation in pending status and keep on using it through ME9K by trial print out.
Original output is proposed with output medium of printout OK. Now if I change it to output medium fax in ME9K and do a trial fax it does not work. SP01 shows the original printer as output device and not the fax machine.
I am not sure where the problem is. Please help why output device is not changing when the output medium is changed ?
Tkx
IMJDear,
When in NACE tcode, you must be selected Application EV, then select output types button. Then select the output type for Fax->then branch to detail , go to default value tab: then you''ll find transmission medium.You can select "fax" or "external send".
If you're using external send, u need to maintain the "communication strategy"in
IMG-Application serverbasis servicesmessage controlDetermine Comm.Strategy,then name it and maintain the comm,typethen select the comm.method=fax.

How to chang audio-output-device(s) in Windwos 8
Hi,
currently I’m working on an application that starts by changing the audio-output-device and ends with re-setting the old one.
On Windows XP I do this by changing the Registry-entry “Sound-Mapper” and it works quite well.
I hopefully assume it works on all Windows Systems from XP to Windows 7.
The background is that our program is supposed to play certain multi-channel sounds over an external USB-multichannel-soundcard and it should switch to that device on start. To actually play the sounds we use the AxWindowsMediaPlayer-Class
to integrate the Windows-Media-Player in our application.
However, on Windows 8, it is possible to set multiple Audio-Outputs and the Windows-Media-player has a setting to choose from them (under Options). I was unable to use the Registry-trick to switch the output-device and I could not find
a way to programmatically tell the AxWindowsMediaPlayer to choose the USB-soundcard as an output.
Is there a Way to programmatically(c#) ether change the audio-output-device(s) in Windos8 or to tell
AxWindowsMediaPlayer to use a certain device?
Thank you.Hi Kristin,
I think your reply pushed me in the right direction.
The waveOutOpen-function is part of the
winmm.dll-API and I think, that API is the solution to my Problem.
Unfortunately I am stuck at this point. I tried mciSendString and mciSendComand. Both are cappable of playing sound, but I am unable to change the output Device.
This is my c# code to open a WAV-File via mciSendCommand:
MCI_OPEN_PARMS open = new MCI_OPEN_PARMS();
open.wDeviceID = 0;//this is somehow ignored
open.lpstrDeviceType = Marshal.StringToHGlobalAnsi("waveaudio");
open.lpstrElementName = Marshal.StringToHGlobalAnsi(@"test.wav");
IntPtr ptr = Marshal.AllocHGlobal(Marshal.SizeOf(typeof(MCI_OPEN_PARMS)));
Marshal.StructureToPtr(open, ptr, false);
mciSendCommand(Convert.ToUInt32(textBox2.Text),
MCI_OPEN,
MCI_WAIT | MCI_OPEN_TYPE | MCI_OPEN_ELEMENT,
ptr);
Afterwards I use mciSendCommand to start the playing of the sound, which works fine, but no matter what I enter in the “open.wDeviceID”-Line, I always get sound over
the default output.
I use waveOutGetDevCaps to get the number and kind of the output-Devices and this works fine.
