Change permission for resource programmatically

Hello, All.
In the post Change the permissions for everyone group in a folder with a java program there is good example of java code for changing permission(thanks to Prakash Singh).
I need to execute code like that immediately after user saves (upload or simply create new) resource in KM folder. What java-class should I extend to perform the action automatically?
bestRegards

Hi Roman,
you will have to implement a repository service for that, registering for the creation of a document. Search the forum for "Repository Service", you'll: (a) find many helping entries, (b) see that it's not that easy (but once you got it, you'll love it).
Hope it helps

  • Change permission for Oracle inventory.

When I installed Oracle 10gR2, I have specified dba group for Oracle inventory as it was a primary group for Oracle user. Now I want to change the group to orainstall. Is it possible to do that now with out affecting Oracle software or residing databases and do I need to specify orainstall as primary group and dba as secondary group?
If anyone does have good doc or link for rebuilding orainventory, please send it across.
    Appreciate your help!!!

But you can always use any other name for dba group -
like dba92, or dba99, or aaa, or even oinstall as the
dba group. Same thing with the "oinstall" as well,
Oracle binary DOES NOT recognize the character - just
    the group ID, of "oinstall".
Correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks.Of course you can pickup whatever name you like, but you need to decide your group name before installation. After installation if you plan to change the 'dba' group name, you need to modify config.s file and recompile Oracle executables.

  • [SOLVED] Permission for a file is changing after reboot

I know it may seem to you like a silly question, but it's a terrible problem for me. I tried to change permission for a file using chmod 660 and it changed of course ( I did it as a root ), but after reboot it resumed to the previous state. It's rather critical file form /proc/acpi/video/... and I need it for brightness manipulation. It's a file with a direct access to my hardware, so I think there's somewhere protection mechanism in Arch and I don't know what should I change.
    Thanks in advance

Although this works, surely changing the permissions on every boot is a little backwards.
As far as I'm aware it's permissions are set like that for a reason - it's a hardware control and as such should only be touched with privileged permissions (root). The 'real' way to do this would probably be to use sudo and set up the sudoers file such that you don't need to use a password as a regular user.
That's just my two cents though... and if I'm honest, it's just me being really pedantic you can do it how you like!

  • Take permission for folder and contents

Is there a way to take permissions for a whole folder and its contents all at once?
I transfered hundereds of photos from my old MBP (Snow Leopord) to my new MBP (now Lion)
I know how to change permission for a single file, but I'm tired of doing it one at a time....

    I get the following:
chmod: Unable to change file mode on /Users/chris/Desktop/permissions/IMG_0298.JPG: Operation not permitted
    EDIT:
I enabled root, and attempted it that way.
I don't get the error message, but I also get no change on the files. The folder is now unlocked and I have permission for it, but I still have the files inside it locked.
Any tips? Slight variation of the command?
    EDIT #2
I also tried this command using path/filename on a individual picture, and it had no effect. Only unlocked the folders in my tests, not the files themselve. Perhaps I need a CLI for dummies guide
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi,
Please try to setting Folder Permissions on Web Publish, and then deploy it with Web Deploy, as far as I know, if we do that, Web Deploy will use the SetAcl operation to change permissions. Please have a look at the article below.

  • Changed name on account, services were changed without permission for more $$

Hi, I'm trying to resolve a situation that has me baffled. I recently moved and had to sign up for new FiOS service at my new apartment last week (I had FiOS at my old apartment, but couldn't just transfer my services because Verizon didn't offer those plans anymore, so I signed up for a new triple play bundle for the new apartment). Everything was installed and I was up and running on Thursday. Good stuff. Fast forward to today, when I realized that the last name on my account needed to be changed, so I called this morning to change the last name. I then get an email from Verizon saying that my new plan would be $10 extra a month, and that I would now be looking at a $250 bill come August (versus the original $172 I was quoted for August) because I changed my last name. Huh? It turns out the representative I talked to this morning changed my internet from 50/50 to 75/75 without my permission for an extra $10 a month. I later discovered that when you change your name on your Verizon account, Verizon considers this to be an act of signing up for a new plan, which the representative never disclosed to me during our conversation. Had I known this, I would never agreed to change the name and just left it as it was. But now it's too late, and I've been signed up for a more expensive monthly plan that I didn't agree to. What's worse, no one can explain to me why I'm looking at a $250 bill for August. If the bump up to 75/75 internet (which I didn't authorize in the first place, but okay fine, let's say I accept the unauthorized change) was an extra $10 a month, the prorated amount should not have changed the expected bill in August from $172 to $250. Something is very wrong here and things do not add up. I have called back twice now and gotten nowhere with the people I spoke with. Is there any other avenue I can take to get answers to what is wrong here?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi stormgrl,
Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. The title of your post is the link. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • To change default backup file permission for dsconf

    Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible and ADVISABLE to change the default backup file permission for dsconf util. We're having two OS users, once which runs the script, and other which runs the dsconf. We're not allowed to schedule crontab from the second user profile. Hence, the user which runs the script will not be able to purge the old backup files as part of the backup process.
    -rw------- 1 tty gis 32M Dec 15 22:00 usersConfig-15-12-11.ldif
Any thoughts if anyone has come across such issue.
    Thanks, JPrince

So if I understand correctly, there is one user which creates the backups, and can run cron scripts. A second user runs some script on the backup, but doesn't have permissions to remove the backup once the script finishes.
Changing the permissions on the file itself is not enough, you have to have write permission on the directory which contains it as well. This doesn't sound (to me) like something you really want to do.
What I would suggest thinking about is having directory or file somewhere that both users can read/write.
When the script finishes processing, write the name of the backup into that file (or create an empty file in the directory with the same name as the backup).
Run a cron script from the first user (the one that creates the backups) which checks for names of processed files. If it finds any, it removes those backups, and the names from the file/directory.

  • System asking for permission for incoming connections

When I restart my computer I get messages that ask if I want to allow incoming connections to programs such as qmaster and realplayer. I allow this. The message also says that I can change this in the firewall pane in system preferences. When I go there I see that both already allow incoming connections.
Why is the system asking me each time when I've already said that it is allowed?

I had the same problem for iTunes, Connect360 and Transmission. After reading many forum post and trying many things to no end this is what worked for me.
NOTE THIS WORKED FOR ME, IT MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU, DON'T BLAME ME.
    1. Log into an Admin account
    2. Go to the Firewall under the Security Pane in System Preferences and remove ALL programs listed under "Set access for specific services and applications." (you can try removing just the troublesome apps)
    3. Still in the Firewall tab, change setting to "Allow all incoming connections."
    4. In the Finder go to your Applications Folder and drag iTunes (or any other offending apps) to the trash and delete from the dock. *This SHOULD NOT delete your music, playlists, ratings or anything else, it did not on mine. But BACKUP if you want to be 100% sure*
    5. In the System Preferences, go to Accounts > Login Items and remove ItunesHelper.
    6. Restart your mac and log in as the Admin again.
    7. Download any apps you deleted, i.e. iTunes. Link: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    8. Install the apps (don't open them after install)
    9. Go back into the firewall settings and change it back to "Set access for specific services and applications."
    10. Open iTunes and any other apps you reinstalled.
    11. Add iTunes back to the Dock.
This should have fixed the problem, and iTunes should act like nothing ever happened...
We still need to add iTunesHelper back to the Login Items.
    12. In the finder go to Applications, and right-click on iTunes, select "Show Package Contents.
13.Open the System Preferences and go to Login Items under Accounts.
    14. Back in the finder (the iTunes Package Contents) go to Contents>Resources>iTunesHelper
    15. Drag iTunesHelper into the Login Items list.
This worked for me. I don't think it ever asked for permission for iTunes. And I have only been asked once for the other programs that used to ask me everytime.
Hope this helps you and everyone else with this problem.

  • Unable to open document. Please check to see if you have read permission for the above file.

    System:
    Adobe Acrobat X Pro, 10.1.2
    Windows 7 Enterprise, 32-bit
    Quad Core badass CPU
    4GB RAM
    MS Word 2010 (Office 2010)
I installed the latest version as Administrator and am running as Administrator. I have all rights to all files on the PC.
When I attempt to create a PDF from any Word document, whether .DOC or .DOCX, I get an error window every time:
    "Unable to open document:"
    "[document location]"
"Please check to see if you have read permission for the above file."
This happens after the little notice pops up "Starting the application which created the document...."
If I open Word and create PDF from the ribbon, it works. It still won't allow me to create from Acrobat.
It creates PDFs from Excel files but not DOC files. I've searched for solutions but found none. I did find this from July of 2011:
"I have found out from Adobe technical support that this is a known issue with Office 2010 SP1 installed. This is an FYI for anyone else experiencing this issue, remove SP1 and it will work ok. They said an update to correct this issue will be coming within the next quarter."
I have updated to the latest version 10.1.2 and still have this problem.
This is a major issue, because it also fails on batch conversions, which is what I really need for the 100 or so documents that need to be PDFed. I'm not going to open each individual file and save each one from within Word.
This is a KNOWN ISSUE at Adobe, and if you look through the forums you'll find many people having this problem, and so far, I have not seen any solution.
If anyone has found the solution, please post it here.
    Thanks!
    B

I think I found a solution. It seems to be relatet to normal.dotm.
In our environment we have upgraded from XP & Office 2003 to Win7 and Office 2010. Normal.dot is stored on the users home share. When Office 2010 is started for the first time (for a user) it takes some of the old stuff from normal.dot and puts it in the new normal.dotm. When this happens, we get this error in Acrobat X.
The solution is to rename both normal.dot and notmal.dot to e.g. normal.dot.old and normal.dotm.old. Office/Word 2010 will then create a new, "clean" normal.dotm.
(By the way, if you are in a corporate environment, you might have changed the default path to normal.dot in Office group policies. You can see it here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\office\14.0\common\general\usertemplates)
I would be interested in knowing exactly why/what in normal.dotm caused this error. I can provide you (Adobe) with a faulty normal.dot(m), if you're interested.

  • I've just opened iTunes on my Mac with an error "The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.". I created a shirred library so that all users on my Mac can access the same library. Help?

I have just opened ITunes on my Mac and the following error occurred "The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.". When I setup my Mac I created a shared user area to contain my ITunes library so that I could share it with another user logged onto my Mac. However the error above gives me the impression that the library file is locked... I've checked and it does not seem to be locked under the "get info" fie information. Has anyone come across this before and found a solution?

You also need to make sure you have both read and write permission for the file, or for the whole iTunes folder for that matter.  That's also done in Get Info for the file or folder concerned.

I have downloaded the most recent itunes on my new computer with windows 8 but when I attempt to get in I get this message "The itunes library.itl file is locked, ona locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file."  How do i fix this?

    Repair iTunes Security Permissions
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Securitytab and click Advanced. Use the Change Permissions... button grant to your account (or the Users group) and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to Replace permissions entries... which will repair permissions throughout the library. When complete switch to the General tab, click in the Read-only check box to clear it, then click Apply.
If you don't have the option to change the permissions then use the Owner tab and Edit... button to take ownership from an account with administrator privileges. Tick the option to Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.
Repeat with the media folder if it isn't stored inside the main iTunes folder.
If you've brought over the library from another computer you may also want to remove any "mystery" identities (S<string of dashes & digts>) that have come over from the old computer...
The images above are from Windows 7. Hopefully the system isn't too different in Windows 8.
