You would need to apply a style sheet that loads for all pages that you visit (fonts that you view on the web are determined by a) the designers who specify either specific fonts, or families (like serif) and b) the fonts that you have installed on your system).

• How to set the font that SuperNova will show the text correctly

I have a problem with the use of Firefox with Supernova. Supernova is a program for visual handicaped people which allows you to enlarge the desktop. When you visit the page
http://www.raadvanstate.nl/uitspraken/zoeken-in-uitspraken/tekst-uitspraak.html?id=73735&summary_only=
you will see some orange colored text in the main text block. This is shown correctly. However when I enlarge the screen with Supernova this orange text is barely readable due to the fact that the letters seems to built of dots instead of a smooth line.
Note that that even happens with this page where I enter these details of the questions. When Supernove enlarges rhe screen, the texts outside the textbox are horrible while the text in this textbox is good.
I ask this question here because when I use Internet Explorer this problem does not occur.
I've tried to make a screenprint, but the screenprint functionality doesn't "see" that the screen is enlarged. So when I zoom to 100% with Supernova, the text in the screenshot seems to be okay.
I realise that this is a difficult issue to reproduce but any help is welcome. Note that enlarging the font with the Firefox options is not a real option for me. Supernova enlarges the complete screen, not only the text on the webpage. This way I'm also able to see the menu's / bookmarks of Firefox itself.
Thank, you very much,
Hans

Thank, you very much. The hardware acceleration caused the problem.

• Love Safari's new look, but on my 17-inch MacBook Pro the font on most pages is partly or all in an insipid light blue. I've tried changing all text to black on white to help my 83-year-old eyes, but no luck so far. Any tips?

This is my first time using this site, but it's helpful so far. Not sure if I need to retype the wording in the Discussion box above, but will do so just in case.

The simplest thing to try is a reset.
With Safari running, click on Safari in the menu bar and select Reset Safari ....
If that does not work, go to Safari / Preferences / Advanced.
The selections I have are shown here:

• I have a 22 inch monitor set at 150% but since I installed Firefox, the font is too small and the screen is too small. Cannot make font or screen larger. I can do Control++ each time I enter a page but don't want that to be my solution.

In control panel/display, I had my display set at 150% and at 1680 X 1050 resolution. This filled my 22 inch screen with the page content. Now that I have installed Firefox, the font is too small and the content is centered in the screen leaving about3" per side of blank space. I want to fill the screen and make everything larger. Haven't found a way to do that. Firefox tells me in my control panel/display window that by setting my display at 150%, "some items may not fit in your screen if you choose this setting while your display is set to this resolution. It worked fine with Explorer.

The Firefox Page Zoom feature does a domain by domain level of saving the users preferred zoom level settings, there is no default Page Zoom level setting in Firefox.
Try the Default FullZoom Level extension:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6965
Or the NoSquint extension:
• While editing a scanned pdf, Acrobat will not recognize the current font & change to very different font. How can I choose the font I want to match the current document?

While editing a scanned pdf, Acrobat will not recognize the current font & change to very different font. How can I choose the font I want to match the current document?

Thanks for answering. The version is XI.0.10. I just did the update yesterday hoping that I could now properly edit a scanned pdf document. Yes, it's happening on most all scanned documents. I followed your steps & found the list of fonts used in the document & then attempted to edit. The same occurs. When I type in a correction, I get an error alert... "the original font (in this case Fd 5805) is not available or can't be used in editing. Acrobat is using the font Minion Pro in its place."
When I select the text & right click as you suggested, my only choices are cut, copy, delete or select all, no "edit text".
I have no other options to choose another font. Thanks for any help you can direct my way.

• How do i run an external monitor with my macbook and change settings so that when i close the lid the signal to the monitor is not lost and i can continue using the mac with a mouse and a wireless keyboard?

How do i run an external monitor with my macbook and change settings so that when i close the lid the signal to the monitor is not lost and i can continue using the mac with a mouse and a wireless keyboard?

No, nothing will prevent the computer from going to sleep when you close its display except third-party hacks that are designed to do exactly that. I strongly advise against using any of those, as they may interfere with successful entry into clamshell mode (and they carry other downside risks as well). Just wait until the computer is asleep (with its sleep light pulsing), then press any key on the keyboard. It sounds as though your setup is working as it's designed to do.

• How do I enlarge the font on web pages

how do I enlarge the font on web pages so that it stays that way all the time

Funny thing today Thomas,
Someone had a link to your site which you mentioned your first virus, the WDEF, and I chuckled as we both had the same experience all these years.
Anyway Thomas, I call it as I see it and like any IT professional, use the best tool for the job.
Did you know Steve Jobs used Linux on his renderfarm at Pixar?
So really what the problem is people's sensibilities, which they shouldn't be worried about because like IE, because of Safari being included on hardware, automatically is the first browser of choice and in no danger of losing market share on Apple hardware.
However if Safari isn't quite cutting the mustard for a particular person's needs, like this person's situation, they should be informed of a alternate solution.
Safari doesn't have nearly the amount of customization as Firefox nor the zillions of add-ons to solve just about any issue.
If people decide not to take my advice that's their choice, and they choose not too, but likely, just in this case, will come to realize the same problem I had with increasing Safari's text size and distortion of web pages.
Soon as Apple starts paying attention to their needs of their hard of seeing customers better, like myself and others, then I will most certainly recommend Safari over Firefox.

After updating to 10.6.3, I installed the 10.6.8 update just to start experiencing these font issues. HELP! How do I get the fonts to display correctly in my browsers especially (Chrome & Safari)

What I ended up having to do was open up the Font book & remove duplicates. I knew it was Arial that was causing the problem, so I deleted the duplicate of that font. Inadvertantly I deleted all the Arial regular font, so I had to reinstall one copy. That was the solution. Thanks!

• Can I change the background on each page of the iPad?

I know how to set home screen and lock screen, but was wondering if there is a way to change the background to each page on the iPad. I am a teacher and would like each page to have a background set to a specific picture or word so my students know which page they use on a particular day. Is this possible? If so, can someone walk me through it?

No - you can only have one background picture which applies to all homescreens

• How to install the fonts that come standard in other environments

I am new to archlinux. I've used Fedora and Ubuntu before. I have a fresh install and it runs smooth. I like it a lot. There are a few things I need to work out. The thing I'd like to do at the moment is to get the fonts that other desktop environments use. Right now I am using LXDM+LXDE. I just want the standard fonts that I had before but I want to stick with LXDE. Things start look really ugly quickly in programs like skype. What is the best way to do this?

• Check if in Word document (Word 2013) advanced option "Use fonts that are stored on the printer" is set

Is it possible in a VBA macro to check whether an opened word document has the advanced option "Use fonts that are stored on the Printer" is set.
I have a word macro that opens and processes thousands of word documents. The processing needs to be different based on whether this option is set or not.
Thanks,

Hi Harry,
I'm afraid that we're not able to retrieve this option value. The Advanced Options are actually stored as application level. Some of the options can be accessed with the Word.Application.Options property. But there're also many options that are not
exposed in the Word Object Model. As you can see in this figure, there's no property corresponding to "Use fonts that are stored on the printer":

• Is there an option to remove or deactivate the fonts that came with Indesign CC?

Is there an option to remove or deactivate the fonts that came with Indesign CC? I have to scroll through a long list of fonts that I never use wich is quite annoying.
I

Thank you for your reply. Unfirtunally that is not the solution. I have looked very closely but I don't have a bent arrow (I work on an iMac Indesign CC 2014).
And I don't want to filter them out, I want to delete those fonts Adobe gave me because I don't use them.
