Change the navigation menu in iweb

I have buy an iweb template that has the navigation menu always fixed. No matter is you move the mouse over the links to the pages, if you are in the welcome page or blog, the text is always the same.
I have ask to author of the template to make the active page text grayed out but he wants again money because this is customizing request of the template...
Is there a way to change the color of the text of the navigation menu? It is enough that the active page is highlighted.
Thank you

Thank you for the answers.
If it is possible I don't want create nothing because it complicates the stuffs (I'm a very beginner in this things). I have tried the javascript way but it don't modifies the behavior of the menu.
Excavating in the iWeb application folder I have reach this file that seems the responsable of the navigation bar: iWeb.app/Contents/Resources/Themes/_Simple\ Info\ orange.webtheme/Italian.lproj/Welcome.webtemplate/com.apple.iweb.widget.navbar. Welcome.plist
I have open it with Pref Setter:
.navbar {
font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, sans-serif;
font-size: .8em;
color: #666666;
line-height: 30px;
border-bottom: 3px solid #ccc;
.navbar-bg {
text-align: right;}
.navbar-bg ul {
list-style: none;
margin: 0px;
padding: 0px;
li {
list-style-type: none;
display: inline;
padding: 0px 5px 0px 0px;
li a {
text-decoration: none;
padding: 10px;
color: #666666;
font-weight: bold;
li a:visited {
text-decoration: none;
padding: 10px;
color: #666666;
font-weight: bold;
li a:hover
color: #999999;
text-decoration: none;
li.current-page a
color: #66ABC5;
text-decoration: none;
I have change the color value but nothing happens. Have you any suggestion?
Thank you
Marco
PS: maybe in 10 days Apple publishes iWeb 10 that permits these modifies...

  • Does and one know if you can change the navigation menu at the top of the iWeb template pages?

    Does and one know if you can change the navigation menu at the top of the iWeb template pages? I need to make the background a little wider.

    It depends on which template you use.
    You can also hide the default navigation and build your own which allows more freedom of design and is better for search engine optimization...

  • How can I create a hyperlink directly in the navigation menu using iWeb09?

    I would like to add a URL to an external page in the navigation menu of my website using iWeb09. I have not been able to change the URL automatically generated by iWeb09 for each new page. The best I can do is to select text or an image that I want to link to the external page. I would rather create the hyperlink directly in the navigation menu. Is there a way of doing this?

    Try this...
    Create a blank internal page named "Link" (actually you can name the page whatever you want.) Then in that "Link" page add an HTML Snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    parent.window.location = "http://www.externalpage.com"; // change this to your own URL
    </script>
    ...Once published, clicking on "Link" in iWeb’s navbar will immediately redirect to the external page. (Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code).

  • Spacing in the Navigation Menu

    Is there any way to space (align & distribute) the text in the Navigation Menu to make it more appealing and less cluttered?

    Yes there is a way to do this, but you have to edit the template XML to do it.
    I've explained how to get into the XML and edit things in a handful of threads. But here's the version at my site. Some of the user comments are helpful.
    http://11mystics.com/blog/2006/10/25/change-iweb-hyperlink-navbar-colors/
    Once you get into the XML, search for the word orientation. That will find the area where you can set the padding between your nav bar entries. Ask questions. No need to beat your head

  • How to defeat the auto caps in the navigation menu.

    How in god's name do you get iWeb to stop automatically capitalizing things in the navigation menu? It seems happy to let me use lowercase for totally new pages but Welcome, About, Photos, etc. Is absolutely forced caps. No matter how many time, or in what fashion I try to change the text it reverts back to Caps on the first letter. Is it not possible to have welcome about, photos, etc in your navi menu?

    and ... considering most screens are more of a landscape arrangement and have more side to side space than up and down, why can't you move the navicrap to the left instead of taking precious vertical space. I have several clean looking pages that would require no scrolling at all if i could move the navicrap to the side. It's like M$ word. Lets see how much vertical space we can forcibly waste with menus and crap forcing everyone to read long thin slits of text. Grr...

  • Add a link to the navigation / menu bar

    I would like to add a home button infront of the My Workspace button in the navigation/menu bar at the top of my Vibe page.
    What jsp of file should I edit to achieve this?

    I didn't look for that JSP, but used the branding for a high level "menu" AND wrote my own JSP to have a dynamic horizontal menu based on a portion of the workspace tree. The problem with changing Vibe's grey menu bar is that any upcoming updates might destroy your tweak. I have a few of those I need to keep in mind whenever an update or patch is done.
    With my JSP adding, removing or modifying workspaces/folders in the identified branch automagically changes on the fly generated horizontal menu with the next refresh/visit of the landing page using the JSP. The menu can be for any branch of your workspace tree. If a visitor doesn't have access to a workspace or folder, the menu skips right over it automagically as well.
    You can find this homebrewed JSP and key details at : Use this nifty JSP to make a dynamic horizontal menu from a branch of your workspace tree | Novell User Communities
    It allows you to reorder the menu items and even drop some workspaces/folders from the menu with a simple trick explained in the article.
    To see the JSP at work, go to CSDECSO - Conseil scolaire de district des écoles catholiques du Sud-Ouest or any of our 30 or so school web sites being implemented within our existing Vibe instance. You won't be able to change the tree branch, but you will see the menu. Some schools have slightly different menu choices, if you poke around long enough to find these differences. I just made them accessible to the public a few weeks ago.
    Don't forget to use the integrated GoogleTranslate (generally near the Vibe printer icon in upper right corner beneath the branding and grey menu) to convert the bulk of our sites' content to any one of the 60 or so languages supported by Google. I have an article explaining how this was done as well. Of course, it is an automated translation, so don't expect perfection and don't be offended if it comes out the wrong way.

  • Archive Page in the Navigation Menu

    The selection for including the Archive Page in the Navigation Menu is greyed out. Is there a reason for this and/or any way to get it there other than creating a text box & link.

    Mine acts the same way, and I would guess is just another of the many quirks of iWeb.
    Your idea for new text boxes and links sounds like the best approach to me.
    I am actually designing a new title nav bar for my sites, which will just cover up all the iWeb generated links. Seems like the only way around this problem.

  • Mac Os X update disappearing navigation menu on IWeb

    After updating Mac Os X to 10.5.6 I was working in IWeb...doing the same stuff I do everyday.
    Attempted to "publish to folder"...said I had an publishing error. Never done this before.
    Then, I noticed that the 3 pages that I had worked on...all had the navigation menu at the top of the page missing.
    I did nothing related to the navigation menu.
    Any insight and wisdom out there?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Log into another account on your Mac and see if the problem persists. You may have to copy the domain file from your account (User/Library/Application Support/iWeb) to the Shared folder in order to get it to the other account. Then move it to the desktop in the other account and double click on it to open with iWeb. If you get the same problem in the other account than a reinstall of iWeb is indicated. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iWeb" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder. Then reinstall from the disk it came on, run the latest update, repair disk permissions and reboot.

  • Can I change the nav menu text color?

    I have this exact same question and you have no reply and I'm wondering what the answer is.

  • Page won't open that's linked but not in the navigation menu

    On my photos page I have set links from each of the photos to another page.
    As long as I keep the page in my navigation menu it opens.
    But when I uncheck that option, clicking on the photo opens up a pop up with an original size version of the same photo.
    I don't want the page to appear in the navigation menu as it is a submenu of the photo page.
    Is there any way for me to get the page to load without having it in the navigation menu?
    Is the photo pop up a function of the photos page, and therefore I have to use another page template so this doesnt happen?

    How did you make the links on the photo template page?
    I'm wondering if this write up might help you...

  • Changing the navigation bar - help!

    Hi,
    I'm making my personal website with iWeb (using the "Modern" template as a base) and I would like to personalise the navigation bar. I have already managed to change the colours of the words modifying the xml file for the template, but I would like the Menu to start about one inch further to the right, because I want to put the logo on the left hand side.
    I would also like to change the font size.
    I’ve searched already on many forums everywhere and I haven’t found anything really useful.
    Please, could anyone tell me exactly how to do this? I would need step-by-step instructions, because I’m not the “coder” type.
    I hope you can help me. Thank you very much.

    Go to:
    11mystics.com
    they have tutorials on changing templates and other stuff. I think they have one on changing fonts.
    The notation I found in this thread suggests NOT messing with nav bar settings ...but here is the thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3288533&#3288533
    Also, with iWeb 08 ...some of the software architecture has changed and may not work down the road. Luck...

  • How can i edit / customize the font in the navigation bar in iweb?r

    how can I edit / customize font size and color in the navigation bar on an iweb created page?

    This tutorial may help: #24 - How to Change the Basic, Rollover and Visited Color of an iWeb Navbar.  It only applies to the various colors.
    Wyodor has posted code to be put in an HTML snippet that will increase the font size.
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    navDiv = parent.document.getElementById("widget0-navbar-list");
    navDiv.setAttribute("style", "font-size: 1.1em;");
    // -->
    </script>
    Increase the size by increments of .1 until you get the size you want.  You'll need to publish the site before you'll see the change.
    If you only have a couple of pages in your site you can create your own text based navbar.  That will give you complete  control over font, size, color, spacing, etc. However, be sure to use only  Web Safe Fonts or the navbar will not look like you want it on those computers that do not have the font you used installed. This demo page is an example: Text Based Navbar.  With more than a couplke of pages updating such a navbar can become a real pain.  However, it is much more search engine friendly.
