Change timecode window source in CC
Hi everyone,
I swear in CS6 I used to be able to switch the source that the dedicated timecode window was looking at using the little window menu toggle (ie. from program source to each video track). I can't for the life of me work out how to do this in Premiere CC now! Am I missing something really obvious? Currently when I open the Timecode window (Menu>Window>Timecode) it displays the timeline program timecode. I want to instead see the source timecode of the video sitting on a particular track instead. (Yes, I know I can drop a Timecode filter on it but for this purpose I'm trying to sync up lots of little clips so I'm already using the filter on my top layer - I just need to know what the bottom layer is reading).
Cheers
Thanks for the reply. I could have sworn I had the option to select it in a previous PrPro - and the only other Premiere I've used in recent years is CS6, so I assumed that was it. The odd thing is the help file makes mention of the option to switch the timecode source:
View timecode in the Timecode panel
You can view timecode in the Timecode panel. To view the Timecode panel, choose Window > Timecode.
You can view the following in the Timecode panel:
If you have the Source panel selected, the Timecode panel will display source timecode.
If you have the Timeline panel, or the Program panel selected, you can choose to display sequence timecode, or source timecode from the panel menu. You can choose which audio or video track’s timecode to display from the panel menu, as well.

Any timecode window plug-ins for older versions of FCE?
Hey - thanks in advance for any help on this.
I use FCE version 1 on a G4 running OSX 2.9. The most commonly recommended Free timecode plugin doesn't seem to work in my version. I install it, but it's not visible in the bins where it's supposed to show up. I tried saving it as a unix and/or unicode and all that other gobbly gook that you're supposed to try if it doesn't install properly. Anyhow, none of that helped. I can only assume it's because of my earlier version of FCE or my OSX.
I need a timecode window visible on my finished project because I'm sending to a closed captioning place. Thanks again.
G4 Mac OS X (10.2.x) Also Have PCWow - I had no idea my question would be such a great source of joy for those of you who enjoy making yourselves feel better by putting other people down. I'm glad I could help.
For anyone else who is actually interested in helping and can refrain from insulting me, I'm still eagerly awaiting some friendly, HELPFUL, advice.
And for the rest of you, by the way - I am a professional and as professionals know, you don't have to rely on the latest and greatest technology to get great results (if you're any good, that is). Possible with larger timecode window with new FxPlug 3 functions?
Hi,
One of the things I miss in fcpx is a larger timecode window. This is a must when working in pair with a reporter. The small standard timecode display is just too small and too hard to read from a distance.
The new FxPlug 3 functions "allows developers to create custom interfaces for their plugins inside of Final Cut."
So does anyone have an idea if it is possible to make a larger timecode window that displays the source timecode?
Thanks!Well...
The compression I gave you was h.264. A nice small web version that plays nice and looks good.
Not sure what compression at the size you were talking about would actually get you to 2 gigs.
I'd send him that... or ask for a more specific call on what he gets from the TV work. I suggest he open one of those files in QUICKTIME and hit COMMAND-I (EYE) to get the information. Have him post or send you a screen grab like this:

Does any one know a line of code that will change the Window

Window Caption of a
> piece to a custom variable, rather than relying on the

If you use the Set Window Caption KO once in your file, it
will load the
function SetWindowCaption into your Authorware piece. Once
the function is
loaded in to your piece, you can delete the KO, then use this
code wherever
and whenever you want to change the caption.
SetWindowText( WindowHandle, YourCaptionVariable)
Note
- this relies on a function loaded from the Winapi.u32 that
is supplied with
Authorware. You must include that file whenever you package
your piece.
- you cannot simply copy the code above - it won't work
unless the
SetWindowText() function is loaded into your piece. If you
*do* try to just
copy/paste the code into your piece, you will be prompted to
load the
function. If so, browse to the file WinApi.u32 that is in
your Program
Files\Macromedia\Authorware 7 directory. Or even better -
copy WinAPI.u32 to
the same folder your AW source code is before loading it.

Changing the window type at runtime is not allowed
Hi,
I am executing a smartform.When we do the print preview,we get the following message:
"Changing the window type at runtime is not allowed"
Please let me know if you have pointers to this error.
Thanks.
On further search,we found that the perform
PERFORM set_late_window is illegal to use in ECC6.0
We checked note No. 359009,shifted the source code node to the window for which the perform is used.Still the same error shows while executing the smartform.
Please suggest what needs to be done for the same.
Edited by: p317980 on Jun 27, 2011 10:06 AMHello Aidan,
Thanks for your prompt reply.I did as you suggested,but the perform still exists in the form,just it has been shifted to window which calls the perform.I activated the form & its working with just the error that standard text does not exists.
Thanks a ton!!!!! -
How to change the Window Title on a per build spec basis?
I would like to be able to make 4 "build specificiations" against the same Startup-VI and be able to have the Window Title different in each of the output executables. I know how to change the Window Title for the VI itself, but for some reason, I don't see the ability to override this information in Source File Settings --> Customize VI Properties dialog of the build specification. Is there perhaps a way to do this programattically with VI server? Perhaps there is a way I can define a unique symbol on each of the build specs and then do a case statement in code to determine which title to display based on the symbol that was defined?
Thanks,You can use the appropriately named Window Title property. In your project you can define conditional disable symbols (right-click on the project node and select Properties) and then use a conditional disable structure in your code. However, these symbols apply to the entire project, not to a specific executable. Thus, a better route would be to use the executable name (also accessible via a property), if possible, or some other distinction between the executables. What makes the executables different?

Crystal ActiveX Runtime Lib: Change text data source path at run time.
We have some PCs running Crystal Reports 10 and some running CR 9 and 8.5. For each PC, we set up a System DSN ODBC data source (in Control Panel - Administrative Tools) for pulling data from text files to
generate reports.
Recently we wrote some routines (see the Visual Basic example at the
end of this message) to change the path of the data files at runtime.
According to the Crystal Reports Technical Reference Guide, we may use
the method LogOnServer() of an Application object or an DatabaseTable
object. However, we find that this does not work: the PrintOut()
method only pulls data from the default path as configured for the
System DSN, not from the path passed as the third parameter of
LogOnServer(). It does not return any error message.
We have also tried to use SetTableLocation() method, and it still does
not work.
Would any experts examine our code below and advise what we are missing? Thanks.
For the following VB example, we have:
System DSN Name: AP_WORKSHEET
Driver: Microsoft Text Driver
Database Directory: D:\0ood2 (i.e. the default path)
Crystal Report Document: D:\3g\run\Vision\apcyto\Reports\crBlockWS.rpt
(Which specifies that the data source text file name is BlockWS.txt)
Purpose : We would like to read the data source text file from
D:\0ood1 instead of the default path.
Following is the code of the VB macro:
Sub test()
Rem In this version of the subroutine, we call
Rem DatabaseTable.LogOnServer() and "Rem"ed out
Rem Application.LogOnServer() and SetTableLocation().
Rem We have un"Rem"ed each of them and "Rem"ed others and try to run.
Rem In all runs, data are pulled from the default file
Rem D:\0ood2\BlockWS.txt instead of D:\0ood1\BlockWE.txt.
Dim crxapp As CRAXDRT.Application
Dim crxRep As CRAXDRT.Report

Dim crxConnP As CRAXDRT.ConnectionProperty
Dim apropSubLoc As String
Dim apropConnBufStr As String
Set crxapp = CreateObject("CrystalRuntime.Application")
Rem
crxapp.LogOnServer "p2sodbc.dll", "AP_WORKSHEET", "<CRWDC>DBQ=D:\0ood1",
Set crxRep = crxapp.OpenReport
("D:\3g\run\Vision\apcyto\Reports\crBlockWS.rpt")
Set crxDB = crxRep.Database
Set crxTab = crxRep.Database.Tables(1)
apropConnBufStr = crxTab.ConnectBufferString
apropSubLoc = crxTab.SubLocation
crxDB.LogOnServer "p2sodbc.dll", "AP_WORKSHEET", "<CRWDC>DBQ=D:\0ood1",
Rem crxTab.SetTableLocation "D:\0ood1\BlockWS.txt", apropSubLoc, "DSN="
Rem Set crxConnPs = crxTab.ConnectionProperties
Rem Set crxConnP = crxConnPs.Item("DSN")
Rem crxConnP.Value = "AP_WORKSHEET"
Rem Set crxConnP = crxConnPs.Item("Database")
Rem crxConnP.Value = "D:\0ood1\BlockWS.txt"
Rem crxTab.Location = "BlockWS.txt"
crxRep.DiscardSavedData

crxRep.PrintOut
End Sub
For VB macros, the problem exists in all of CR 8.5, 9 and 10. However,
for another platform we are using, Unify Vision 4GL, it works for CR
8.5 while not working for CR 9 and 10.
Following is the source code in Unify Vision 4GL. This language may
not be popular, but I thin you are about to see how it calls the

PrintOut().

Is there a way to change the Windows Update service startup type on Windows Server 2012 R2?
We have a number of newly built 2012 R2 servers that we have HP Operations Manager agent running on that monitors the status of several services and reports if they are "stopped". One of these services is Windows Update. Every day we
get at least one alert saying:
"Service "Windows Update" is not started. Current state is stopped"
Checking the event logs shows that the Windows Update service stops, then a while later it just starts again. Not an error, just an information event.
In Windows 2012 R2 the Windows Update service is set to "Automatic (Trigger Start)", where in previous versions we run (2012/2008R2) it would be set to just "Automatic" or "Automatic (Delayed Start)"
I have come to understand that this behaviour is normal for Windows 2012 R2, and that Trigger Start services by design stop themselves after a period of inactivity. I was unable to find any info on how this works. Our client would like this to
be changed and the Windows Update service stay running all the time, understanding that this impacts performance.
Is there a way to change the Windows Update service in Server 2012 R2 to the old Automatic startup behaviour so that it stays running all the time instead of stopping and starting periodicall? There is no option to do this via the services mmc
gui.
So far I have tried:
Removing the Triggers using the command: sc triggerinfo wuauserv delete
This works temporarily, the service then shows as just Automatic in the services console, however if you restart the server or restart the service it goes right back to being Automatic (Trigger Start).
Any kind of help would be appreciated.This one might help.

Trying to change the data source for a Crystal Report.
<p>The method below represents my best attempt to programatically change the data source of a Crystal Report. The goal is to have a routine that will update the data source for reports after they have been distributed to production servers. So far I have not been successful in saving the report back to the CMS. No exceptions are thrown, but when I view the Database Configuration of the report in the CMC nothing has changed.
</p>
<p>
Am I missing a step, or is there another way to accomplish this?

Thank you.

<p>Justin,</p>
<p>
Thank you for the reply. Time constraints have not allowed me to post back to this tread
till now. I will try your suggestion. My assumption is that <i>Save the report back to the
info store</i> refers to <span class="code">IInfoStore.commit(IInfoObjects)</span>.
</p>
<p>
I'm afraid that I do not understand why I don't want to change the report client document,
or why <i>successfully exporting the report with the new login/password</i> is not what I
want to do. Any explanation on that statement would be appreciated.
</p>
<p>
I did find a way to accomplish my goal. It involved adding the SSOKEY property to the
logon property bag. Below you'll see my revised code which modifies the report logon and
server. I have no idea what
this does, and SAP support has not been able to tell me why it works. However, what I
discovered is that if I changed the report option, <b>Database Configuration -> When
viewing report:</b>, in the CMS to <span class="bi">Use same database logon as when report
is run</span> from <span class="bi">Prompt the user for database logon</span>, then the
SSOKEY property had been added to the logon property bag having an empty string as its
value. This allowed me to successfullyupdate and save the modified logon back to the CMS.
</p>
<p>
So I took a chance and added code to always add the SSOKEY property with an empty string
as its value, and I could then successfully modify and save the report's logon info
and server. Again, I don't know what this means, but it has worked so far. If anyone has
some insight or comments, either are welcome. Thank you in advance.

Can we change the Data source in AO ?
Hi Folks,
Environment: SAP HANA on AO
I have the following scenario , Am creating a report on one Calculation View: CV and have done some analysis where I have pulled in some dimensions and kept some background filters.
Now I have to generate the same report on another Calculation View: CV2 ( Similar to structure of CV ) and compare the reports. Is there any way to edit copy the previous report and change the data source? Can you guide me on that?
Regards,
Krishna TanguduHi,
You can exchange the calc view by clicking on the button next to the data source name in the tab "components", but when you do this, the new data source will overwrite the settings and filters from the previous data source. So no, there is not a supported way of exchanging the datasource and keeping the filters of the previous data source.
Best regards,

Hi AbbyZiva
I understand since updating to Win8 you don't have the "no scaling" option available.
Did you uninstall and reinstall the printer after doing the Windows upgrade?

Changed my windows to windows 7 professional and illustrator 8.0 won't setup
What do I have to do to get my laptop to setup my illustrator 8.0 since I changed to windows 7 professional? It says it can't set it up.
Jimmy,
You should be able to install and run AI8 in Windows 7 professional (and 8,1 for that matter).
You will probably need to run the computer in XP mode to install. Here is how:
Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7
To run AI8, you should be able to just run the computer normally and to specify that AI8 is to run in (XP) Compatibility maode, as follows:
1) RightClick the shortcut;
2) Click Properties;
3) Click Compatibility;

Changing OS Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.0 from DVD Windows 8 upgrade.
I have Windows 8.1 as the original OS on this Computer. I was told twice I would be able to change to Windows 8.0 by Microsoft Techs. Two MS Tech have worked to install this program. Doesn't work. It goes to Windows Setup (That
doesn't follow through) I must quickly catch the black screen and change the option to Windows 8.1. What is the Bitlocker and how do I suspend it?I'd ask them here about downgrade rights.
