Change UI layout based on panel size

I am looking for a way to adjust the layout of my UI based on the panel's size. For example, two buttons that are above each other until the window height gets small enough that they need to be next to each other instead.
Another example would be a series of buttons that are displayed as a row if the panel is wider than it is tall, or as a column if it is taller than it is wide.
Anyone done anything like this, or know if it is possible? As I see it, all I need is a way to read the panel's current size and I can put a function into onResize/onResizing that adjusts the UI layout.

Figured it out!
This changes my row of buttons from a column to row based on the window ratio. Finally figured out windowBounds.height and windowBounds.width.

If you have sent a test print via ePrint, and experience this issue, i would call the Cloud Services department.

Change View State Based On Screen Orientation?

I'd like my app to change layouts based on the current screen orientation. I believe this is done through view states. I have three questions...
1) How do I check the current orientation?
2) Is there an event listener that will tell me when the orientation changes?
3) How do I toggle between view states?

UPDATE: I figured out the answer to question 3...

UPDATE II: I figured out the answer to question 1 as well. I simply used the Capabilities object to determine the screens current width & height, then compare the two. All of this is in a function that gets called when the app launches:

ABAP Dump while Changing the Layout fields in Report output - RCOPCA02

Hi,
I Copied the Standard Program RCOPCA02 to ZRCOPCA02. I added two new fields(AUART, AUGRU) in the report output. It is executing correctly with default layout, While Changing the layout for displaying new fields it is dumping.
I am not understanding, What should i do...

In the ALV function module , the i_save can have the below paramater values.
You can add based on your requirement.
I_SAVE = SPACE Layouts cannot be saved.
I_SAVE = 'U' Only user-defined layouts can be saved.
I_SAVE = 'X' Only global layouts can be saved.
I_SAVE = 'A' Both user-defined and global layouts can be saved.

Photo Gallery w/ Images adjusting size based on Browser size.

I'm new to web design but I'm trying to create a photo gallery with images that dynamically size based on the size of the browser window. Similar to this http://pageduke.com/#/Residential/Colonial%20Revival-Nashville1/1. I know th is a flsh site, but is there a way yo do it in HTML in Dreamweaver, maybe using Spry. I don't know Jquery, but is it possible that way.

Woo is not a gallery. It's just a slider - a panel widget, which should
be adaptive/responsive by default. The problem is that for years, the
typical jQuery plugin writer simply copies stuff done by others so
someone finally realized you don't have to fix a width and a height if
you know how to write a stub script
Galleries are totally different. To do a responsive gallery is not so
easy and the only ones that come remotely close - using open source
scripts - do require an initial width. They will not scale both up and down.
I gusess it depends on what the original poster wants and/or cares about
in terms of efficiencies and functionality.

Changing a field based on another field

hi one and all
i am looking for a way to change a field based on another field. if i have item 2 and item 8 on the page and item 8 needs to be required based on item 2 based on a requirement, how would this be done.
ex if item 2 has a PO inputed, when it is moved off the field, item 8 should be changed from required false to required true. i have tried in both the process request and process form request with no luck
any suggestions.

How to pick the multiples based on file size

Hi All,
my sender file adapter needs to pick up 5 files based on file size.
for example 1file size is 500kb,2nd file size 300kb,3rd file size 400kb, 4file size 100kb and 5file size 600kb.
here my requirement is, my file adapter needs to pick in the below order like 5th file,1st file,3rd file 2nd file and 4th file.
means based on file size, i need to pick up my file adapter.
could you please ang inputs on this requirement.

1. At specific time each day "23:58:00" hours ,count the number of files in directory say "c:\apps\acm".
2. sort the files on basis of their size.
3. place the files one by one after definite time interval (more than polling time of the sender communication channel).
in target directory say "c:\apps\acm1" from where PI server picks up the files for further processing. The file with smallest size is placed last.
4. In this case you need to ensure all files are present in the directory "c:\apps\acm" before "23:58:00" hours.

The code runs in infinite loop. You need to run them in command line in DOS environment as you indicated that you OS is WIN XP. I have a few print statements which I kept for debugging, you can safely remove them and run the codes. This code is independent of the Operating System you are using. Only change is required in values of "dir1","dir2", timings and file count, which I think you can take care easily.

Panel size problem

I tried to set the panel size on my fram but every single time i run the application (I have 4 panels on my frame 1 on top 3 on the buttom) the panels are sceezed no space beetween them. Do you have any idea how to get space beetween them. I use the setSize method but it looks like it doesn't work, i work for my classmate but not for me. (I have class panel with around 4 objects ex.txtbutton, txtbox, etc) if it help you .

If you are using a GridLayout() to position your panels, you could try
this.setLayout(new GridLayout(x,y,5,5);
the last two parameters specify the gap between the panels. x any y are obviously just your layout values.

How to set front panel size to be same as one led?

In documentation reads that minimum front panel size is one pixel. I need to create front panel which have same size as one led (see attachment). I'm not able to make front enough small just by dragging window borders. I also tried to change front panel size from File->Vi properties ->Window size but that didn't helped. How I can set front panel to smaller size?

I think I got it
In the window apperance option I removed everything except "Allow user to resize window" And the Run options. Then I ran the VI (continuosly since there is no loop) and resized it. After I stopped it, I then removed "Allow user to resize window" from the window apperance options.
P.S! If you try to resize my Vi now, it will pop back out for some reason.

How to know the "minimum panel size" property

I want to know the "Minimum Panel Size" specified in the "VI properties" by programming. It's very important to get this information, because my panel size changes over the execution and I need the minimum panel size available. I can’t use the panel bound property because it return me the actual size of the panel.
Any idea?

There is no property to directly return the minimum panel size that you set.
You can however trick it into giving it to you. Since you can't use the "Panel Bounds" property to make a window smaller than it's set minimum, You can try to set it to 0,0 size, then read the size and subtract the left from right and top from bottom to get the size. The panel will actually resize to the minimum, but will return an error if you try to go below that.
The attached VI shows this working. I only tried this 7.1, so if you have an earlier version, let me know and I'll save it back.

VI Analyzer Front Panel Size and Postion Test fails

We make a lot of use of the VI Analyser and I have been playing with the configuration settings to try and make it only fail the tests that matter to us and I have one test I do not understand correctly.
From the LabVIEW help
Panel Size and Position—Checks that a front panel
completely resides within the bounds of the screen. The test also checks whether
the front panel is larger than the maximum specified width and height. If you
are using a multi-monitor system, the test fails if the panel does not reside
entirely within the bounds of the primary monitor. This test works only on
standard, control, and global VIs.
I would like to apply this test, a simple check developers are not creating huge VI, it sounds simple enough, but I cannot seem to get this test to pass.
I am working with two monitors and this test fails when my VI is on either monitor with the message "This VI's front panel does not reside entirely within the specified bounds (1280 x 1024)" my current screen resolutionis 1280 x 1024, so I assume as long as my VI front panel fits within one screen it should be a pass.
I can clearly see my that VI front panel (and block diagram for that matter) fits within the screen of either monitor. If I look at the VI properties of my VI the Window Size is 474 x 513, could anybody please suggest when why this might be failing.

Thanks for the prompt reply, my asking the question and your reply has made me play with this a little deeper and I have managed to solve my problem.
In case anyone else has a similar problem here are the details.
When you have two monitors and look at the Windows properites you see one monitor is identified as 1 and the other as 2, thses identities are based on the graphics card and the which monitor is plugged into which ouptput connector. You can then chose which monitor you wish to act as your primary monitor. You would suspect it would not matter once you have selected your primary monitor BUT IT DOES.
My inital set-up
Left Hand Monitor    - idenity 2 selected to be primary monitor
Right Hand Monitor - identiy 1
With this set-up everything looks and acts as I expect it to task bar, icons etc on my primarry monitor. However if you run the VI Analyser it will fail Panel Size and Position on BOTH the left and right hand monitors.
I crawlled under my desk and swapped the monitors cables round so now the set-up is
Left Hand Monitor    - idenity 1 selected to be primary monitor
Right Hand Monitor - identiy 2
Now the VI Analysers Panel Size & Position Tests will pass on the left hand monitor but fail on the right hand monitor, just as would expect.
It appears that LabVIEW is looking not only at the windows "Primary Monitor" setting but also the identies, this does not seem the behaviour I would expect nor the correct behaviour.

Change a price based on selected options...

Hey everyone. I know next to zero flash. I'm working on one of my first projects and would like to create a gallery of products that have two sets of options. For simplicity sake I'll use a shirt. If I have a specific shirt that costs different amounts based on a size of shirt and a color of shirt. If I have two flyout menus, I want to have a price text box that will change depending on what's selected. For example, medium and blue equals $50, medium and green equals $60, small and green equals $35.....so on and so forth. I'm at a complete loss and was wondering if any of you have ideas for what might be done. Thanks for any help.

You can use the arrays as you mentioned to populate the dropdowns with the display text and the value associated with the text.
OR
If the data is not going to change much then you can directly add the items to Dropdowns at the design time.
Then you need to write the code in the Calculate event of the Price field to display the price calculated from the the selections.

Change Master Page based on Text Content

Hello,
I have found a few examples relating to changing Master pages based on Style.
However, I would like to change all Pages that flag "True" with the query of the "2-1134" to to "Master-C" for example.
I have 12 master Pages with different strings that I don't mind editing the script to make work.
The document is close to 1,000 pages.
I am having trouble merging so many different scripts into something that will work.

This is what layers are for. Open the Layers panel and make at least one more layer. Put the graphic on the lower layer and the footer on the upper layer.
