Change/View formula in the report ?

Hi SDNer's,
Is it possible for the user to view the formula used for a calculation in the report ?
Any close workarounds? What if the user wants even to change the formula from the report ?
Please share your thoughts.....any inputs wud really help !!
Envi - Netweaver 7.0, BEx.

Hi Werner,
I have seen that feature and that wouldn't really help us. I was looking for a way out for the user to change the formula in the query ( w/o going to query though ), like change A0.68 to A0.75  from report itself.
Thankyou though !!

  • Change dinamically a formula in the report

    I need to change a formula dinamically
    So I'm doing this (some try catch omitted but presents), just to try I'm replacing ALL of formulas to string '1';
                        Fields<IFormulaField> formulas = null;
                                                 formulas = myRpt.getDataDefinition().getFormulaFields();
    IFormulaField formula = null;
                        for (int f = 0; f < formulas.size(); f++)
                                  formula = myRpt.getDataDefinition().getFormulaFields().get(f);
                                                                String oldText = formula.getText();
                                  String newText = new String("1");
                                                                   formula.setText(newText);
    But report actually go on using the OLD formula text... Why?

    You need to use the FormulaFieldController.modify method.

  • Transport of Query successful, but changes not appeared in the report

    Hi All,
    I have 2 Queries(Normal and Total stock reports on the same InfoProvider) in Prd.
    For that User asked me to add one characteristic to Free characteristics.
    I added one characteristic in Free Characteristics to both Queries in Dev and i collected the Transport requests for both the queries in RSA1->TRANSPORT CONNECTIONS and gave it to basis guy, he transported successfully to PRD and for both the reports the changes reflected in the
    query designer, while executed the Normal stock report the characteristic added in free characteristics appeared and while drill down the data is coming, but for the Total stock report the changes appeared in Query designer but on executing the report even  the characteristic added to Freecharacteristics is not appearing in Navigation Pane.
    Also with the same technical name of total stock report there are 2 reports appearing in query designer. what to do now.
    Help me here asap..
    Thanks,

    Hi Chaithu,
    As you mentioned that you can see 2 versions by the same technical name in designer for total stock report, it is highly probable that the query you are changing and the query you are executing are different.
    2 versions of a query can exist with the same technical name as the system identifies the queries by their UIDs, which would be different for both these versions of queries.Following are the things you need to check:
    1) In development system too, do you have 2 versions?
    2) In production system, check the UID for both verions of the query
    3) In Dev system, make sure you modify the query with UID which is being executed, if it is available there. Else, you need to replace the query in prod with the one you have in Dev system.
    2 versions by same technical name can exist if:
    1) Someone created a query directly in Prod, and transported a query by same technical name from Dev system
    2) or due to system refresh, copy, etc.
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks,
    Abhishek.

  • LVS Viewer: Cannot display the report

    Dear All,
    When I query the report in LVS Viewer, I didn't see any error message. The system said loading....then no report shows.
    Does it mean I am missing some software on terminal server?
    I installed LVS server on our DB server. I installer LVS client and viewer on our terminal server.
    I have Windows server 2003 on both server. I have SQL2005, SAP8.8 PL08. Please advise. Thanks.
    Regards,
    Yuka

    Hi Maria,
    Thanks for the reply.
    Here are the records in LVS Table. I only copied one table here.
    I installed the server and the client on the same PC. I cannot see anything from report viewer.
    When I go C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\SAP Business One LVS\Reports Output, I can see some TXT files. One file of each day. So I assume my server address is correct. I copied it from the config file of LVS. Then another assumption will be, the viewer of the report is incorrect. But I didn't see any error message to let me know what's wrong with it.
    Thanks.

    Yuka

  • EPMCOPYRANGE displays formulas outside the report on expanding

    Hi Experts,
    I am facing issue with EPMCOPYRANGE function as follows:
    I have an EPMCOPYRANGE function with certain formulas and save comment in Column M, N, O
    When i execute the report this function works fine (Example: it expands for 100 rows with correct calculations)
    When i refresh it again for a lesser data (Example: with data upto 50 rows) the rest of the 50 cells still contains the formula from previous EPM COPYRANGE and i get error as #REF
    Same is the case when i run the report for a period with no data, i can still see the formulas in the cells in column M, N, O
    is there any settings to be maintained for EPMCOPYRANGE function which i am missing?
    Regards,
    Shweta Salpe

    Hi Vadim,
    Here, when i select period 1 and refresh the report the report has 400 rows populated. With Variance ($) and Variance (%) as caluclated members through EPMCOPYRANGE function.
    When i refresh the report for period 2 the report has rows till 327 and the rest of the rows 328 to 400 still contains the formula for variance but since there are no refrence values it shows as #REF.
    When i refresh the report again for period 3 it will have 450 rows and when i go back to period 2 now, the rows 327 to 450 will contain unwanted formula in the variance column.
    Thanks,
    Shweta Salpe

  • Unusual behavior of View selector with the report level 'Add to Briefing Bo

    Hi All,
    With the report level ‘Add to Briefing Book’ link, we came across an unusual behavior of View selector in a report.
    The Briefing Book saves only the default view from View selector in an Updatable Content type, however it behaves perfectly fine when a Snapshot type is selected for saving in Briefing book.
    Has anyone faced similar behaviour, is there any fix?

  • Change Preferred Viewing Locale by a paramter field in the report template

    Hello,
    Is there a method that allows to change the Preferred Viewing Locale at the report template level?
    Actually I have some templates for final clients in different countries, and these reports should be generated in Infoview.
    In order to generate reports in different languages, I inserted a parameter {?Language}
    Then for caption/text I used a formula like this
    Select {?Language}
    Case "en_US": .....
    Case "de_CH": .....
    Case "it_IT": .....
    Case "nl_BE": .....
    However this won't work for date axis in charts and number formats.
    So I switched to Preferred Viewing Locale settings, which seemed to be exactly what I wanted cause everything can be changed according to the local settings, except that I need to change the setting every time by selecting View - Preferred Viewing Locale - German - (Germany)... for 20 different reports
    And what's more important is that I cannot change this setting when I launch the template in Infoview. Change in Preferences will impact all the templates while I just need change on one template only.
    I had a look on all the functions available and it seems that ContentLocale function can only display the current setting.
    Is there any solutions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Wenzhao

  • Dynamic changes in the report

    I generated one report in BI 7.0 using the BEx Analyser. But what the user want is to simulate the report in according to the market changes. For example: Suppose fields for the ingredients of a product and the % of amount used to get the profit is there in the report. He wants to try for the various possibilities that he can do to get better profit from his products mentioned in the BEx report. So what he wants is ‘whatever changes he do in the report should reflect the other fields in the report for planning his future composition. How can this be done in the report? Is it possible by using macros? How to use Macros in this case? Can someone please explain this in detail?

    I generated one report using BEx Analyser. In that report price of individual raw materials are there and the total cost for the production of a commodity from that raw materials. After the report generation my client understood that the price of certain raw materials varied. So he wants to change the price of the raw materials manually and get the total cost after the change. This is the requirement.
    What I think is that the formulas used in the  report can be generated to another excel sheet and using macros i can do the calculation and can show the result in the new excel sheet. I dont know whether this idea will work or not as I am unaware of how to generate the formulas to another excel sheet and I am unaware of the macro code. So can anyone help me to solve this issue by explaining in detail and can someone send me some macro codes for example that can give an idea of summation of filed values.

  • Native Crystal formulas don't work if VB6 is producing the report

    Post Author: pdavis
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    I just upgraded from Crystal 6 to Crystal XI (enterprise). (Yeah, OK. I don't rush into things.) About 70 reports apparently converted OK, i.e., they worked when looked at in Crystal design mode. Most have built-in formulas.
    Using VB6 to produce the reports (the reports are NOT embedded into the VB project via the Crystal designer; instead I'm creating a Crystal Reports object), none of the built-in formulas work (altho everything else about them looks fine). I can pass data to any of the built-in formulas (including being able to pass the code that originally constituted the formula) and the report will look fine, but I lose the flexibility to simply distribute new reports if I have to build the reports or their formulas into the project.
    I've scoured every resource I can find and have seen nothing suggesting this is a common occurrence, so I'm assuming it must be something I'm missing, something possibly subtle? Having just migrated, I'm sure there is lots about Crystal XI I don't know yet, but I would be extremely grateful for any help since I'm under deadline. (OS is Win2K server if that matters.) Thanks.

    1. You will find this option beside ? in Add-Ins. In that Settings --> BW Server Connection.
    + Not I didn't find... for example I saw... File.. Edit...view.. Insert... and others exactly like when you enter in excel ... the only difference it's that I saw activated the tool bar for bex analyzer.. on where I saw .. design mode... refresh..etc.+
    2. If you select the field in Free characteristics and restrict it with a variable in query designer mode, you will get that characteristic in variable screen and you can give the selection and you will not get that charcteristic in the output as you have taken that in free characteristic. Only if you do drilldown accross rows for that characteristic, then it will appear.
    If you take that into Rows in query designer mode, then you will get the same for variable selection and as well as in the output without drilldown accross rows. It will be displayed automatically.
    +The clear example is:  I have one free characteristic in report, like 0MATERIAL, this characteristics didn't have any restric value... then the user add 0MATERIAL into report just for see more details... later if the user filter 0MATERIAL with some values and click ok, the column 0MATERIAL dissapear from the report +
    did you have another idea to solve this?¡
    Thank you a lot.

  • How can i display all the Coloumns (Key Figures) in the Report's same page

    Hi All,
    I am currently working on the BI 7.0 reporting. In the BEx Query Designer report, I am having 13 coloumns (7 Key figures and 6 Formulas) in the report. It is now displaying 10 coloumns in the First page of report. The other 3 coloumns can be seen by clicking on the next page. But the requirement is to see coloumns in the SAME PAGE.
    Are there any settings OR any other thing in the Query Designer, which can enable me to see all the coloumns on SAME page. The users are not interested in scrolling next page for 3 coloumns.
    Appreciates the Quick help/Response, please.
    Regards
    Ramana

    In Web Application Designer, for the properties of your analysis webitem under the Paging category, change parameter 'Number of Data Columns Displayed at Once' (BLOCK_COLUMNS_SIZE) to 0.  This will make all columns show instead of paginating as it is doing now.

  • The Report is Empty.

    Hi,
    Im using Crystal Reports 2008 on VS.NET 2005 and .NET 2.0
    I set the dataset to the report programatically.
    The report viewer is empty.
    But the report has more than 2 pages.
    When I click next page on the Crystal Report Toolbar, the report data appears. But not when it is loaded.
    This has worked fine before. The code has not been changed but something did change and screwed up the report.
    Please help me here.
    Aswin Dwarakanath.

    I'd recommend the following:
    Export the report to Crystal Reports format. See if the fields (in the CR designer) are stripped out from the exported report. If they are , you have a dataset issue where you are not matching the schema the report is expecting. To check that, do the following:
    1) Write out your dataset to XML:
    myDataset.WriteXml(xmlPath, XmlWriteMode.WriteSchema)
    so, in your case you want to write out the xml after
    cr.Subreports.Item("Transaction Breakdown").SetDataSource(clientTotals) and
    cr.Subreports.Item("Last10Weeks").SetDataSource(transactionTotals)
    E.g.;
    cr.Subreports.Item("Transaction Breakdown").SetDataSource(clientTotals)
    clientTotals.WriteXml(xmlPath, XmlWriteMode.WriteSchema)
    cr.Subreports.Item("Last10Weeks").SetDataSource(transactionTotals)
    transactionTotals.WriteXml(xmlPath, XmlWriteMode.WriteSchema)
    Now, I do not see where or how you are setting the datasource to the main report, so if you are also using dataset, do the same for it.
    2) Open your report in the CR designer.
    3) Go to the Database menu and select "Set datasource location"
    4) Choose "Create new connection"
    5) Choose ADO .NET (XML)
    6) Point to your xml
    7) Click on he <Update> button.
    If you get a field mapping dialog, the schema of your dataset is different from what the report is expecting and you need to adjust that.

  • Last date for an invoice formula for Crystal Reports

    Post Author: jegva
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
    I sure hope someone can help me write a formula to list only the last dated invoice from our database.  Let me explain, our sales would like a report listing all of our customers showing their last dated invoice.  We use SQL and Crystal Reports 8.5 (yea outdated).  They are interested in showing all our customers and their last invoice/date so they can try to contact those who have not done business for some time. Please help!!!!!!!

    Hi Scott,
    One reason is the older versions introduced a .5 font reduction in the viewers. This was a good thing for some but bad thing for others so I assume what the developers have done is leave the font as is and show those # symbols now to indicate the viewer you are using and font you are using works differently on the OS and the various viewers being used.
    In CR designer it uses the GDI+ to render the data through classic C++ function calls. I .NET it too uses GDI+ but it's the Framework making the calls and the Framework handles screen mapping differently. We've had this issue/functionality limitations since version 9. Various reasons and various work arounds resulted in various outputs.
    Another reason is the C++ viewer built into the Report Designer and the .NET framework handling the fonts work slightly differently when rendering. This has been tracked and few times here by me and in both cases the cause is GDI+ has bugs in it so it's nothing we can do. Post or log your issue with Microsoft, they may be able to fix it. Once they do then if it's still a problem in CR we can fix it depending on what MS does.
    Another work around may be to use a fixed font like Courier or some other font that has a specified character area all characters use, it may make the characters space oddly but as for displaying it's always the same size.
    All I can suggest is they get into a practice of testing their reports in your app before "publishing"
    Thanks again
    Don
