The Report is Empty.

Hi,
Im using Crystal Reports 2008 on VS.NET 2005 and .NET 2.0
I set the dataset to the report programatically.
The report viewer is empty.
But the report has more than 2 pages.
When I click next page on the Crystal Report Toolbar, the report data appears. But not when it is loaded.
This has worked fine before. The code has not been changed but something did change and screwed up the report.
Please help me here.
Aswin Dwarakanath.

I'd recommend the following:
Export the report to Crystal Reports format. See if the fields (in the CR designer) are stripped out from the exported report. If they are , you have a dataset issue where you are not matching the schema the report is expecting. To check that, do the following:
1) Write out your dataset to XML:
myDataset.WriteXml(xmlPath, XmlWriteMode.WriteSchema)
so, in your case you want to write out the xml after
cr.Subreports.Item("Transaction Breakdown").SetDataSource(clientTotals) and
cr.Subreports.Item("Last10Weeks").SetDataSource(transactionTotals)
E.g.;
cr.Subreports.Item("Transaction Breakdown").SetDataSource(clientTotals)
clientTotals.WriteXml(xmlPath, XmlWriteMode.WriteSchema)
cr.Subreports.Item("Last10Weeks").SetDataSource(transactionTotals)
transactionTotals.WriteXml(xmlPath, XmlWriteMode.WriteSchema)
Now, I do not see where or how you are setting the datasource to the main report, so if you are also using dataset, do the same for it.
2) Open your report in the CR designer.
3) Go to the Database menu and select "Set datasource location"
4) Choose "Create new connection"
5) Choose ADO .NET (XML)
6) Point to your xml
7) Click on he <Update> button.
If you get a field mapping dialog, the schema of your dataset is different from what the report is expecting and you need to adjust that.

  • I generate file (PDF, HTML, etc) the report is empty but I run in paper

    Hi
    I use oracle Report10g
    When I generate file (PDF, HTML, etc) the report is empty but I run in paper design show data, the report in the paper design show many pages, when generate file show only the information of the margin in the main seccion and the body is empty,
    Thanks

    Thanks Daniel for pointing that out.  Though you answer is helpful but I am not sure if that is what I would want to do.
    The link you provide for csv says "For each report there's an _report.xdo file that contains the XML structure of the report... "   It suggests I modify the .xdo file for each report.  I currently have 16 reports.
    Does it mean I modify the .xdo file for all 16  and what happens if someone creates a 17th report ?
    Also, what if I run the same report using different input parameters will that change the xml structure for the report  and therefore will need me to modify the .xdo again ? (I think it should not change the xml structure so the answer should be "NO" to that, unless I change the structure of the report).
    Finally, the link you provide says after doing what it suggest  "Now log back into BI publisher and select the report. You should now be able to see that CSV is now an option."
    CSV should be an option where ? on what screen/page ?  Maybe PDF is already an option for me that I cant see because I do not know where that option is.
    I was hoping there would be something I could do on the xdo_metadata sheet (in the data constraints section or elsewhere) OR in BI Publisher itself as some property of the report.
    I will try out what you suggest any ways.

  • Report sometimes empty - responsibility

    Hi,
    After updating a computer, a User could not run any reports. After cleaning the cache the User can now run reports. However, one report is empty.
    When I run the report using the same responsibility and the same parameter, I get data. When the User runs it, the report is empty.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Just to clarify, the user can run the report successfully on another computer.

    NO PROBLEM now. It turns out that the problem was with the User's version of the report. She only told me that now.

  • Reports are empty

    Hi,
      I've executed these steps (
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj943761(v=office.15).aspx ) and when I go in PWA->Report->English (US)-> Project Overview. The report is empty. I opened it in excel and click "Refresh All" from data tab, not error message,
    and no data as well. I tried to open it in web excel service, when I refresh data, I get this message :

  • Why am I getting "The Report Filename Is Empty - Using CR13 vs2010 2003sqls

    I am enhancing a vb.net app that was originally written with vs2010 vb.net, crystal reports 10 and telerik.
    It has been running for a year.
    I have made enhancements using vs2010sp1 vb.net,  cr 13,  telerik framework updated.
    The server is a 2003 server.
    The reports are  loaded into the app using vb code.
    My version creates a message the filename is empty on initial loading of the report
    which the users will find annoying as they have to enter the report request.
    This message has to be internal because I not coded for this message
    I don't get this message when testing at my workstation.  It happens when I load the
    app to the server.
    Any ideas or solutions appreciated.
    Under the gun.
    Thanks in advance
    Isaac

    Hi,
    "The report filename was empty." is not a Crystal Reports error.
    Specify what the application exactly does i.e. view report, print, export report etc.
    Take a look at below thread.
    [Preview in web using Crystal Report Viewer Message:|Preview in web using Crystal Report Viewer Message:]
    Recheck the flow of the application if everything is in place.
    Refer to the developer guide :[http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/sapCRVS2010/en/crnet_dg_2010_en.zip|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/sapCRVS2010/en/crnet_dg_2010_en.zip]
    Apply [SP2 on CR for VS 2010|http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/cr4vs2010/CRforVS_13_0_2.exe]
    Just as a test try a sample application without the telerik framework, see if it reproduces the issue.
    Hope this helps,

  • PASSING EMPTY VALUES TO THE REPORT

    Hello,
    I am having an issue with generating reports published on Crystal XI Server.
    When I do not pass any value for a parameter and try generating the report, an error is occurred which says "REPORT LINKING ERROR - There was an error in launching the viewer: empty String".
    Crystal Version 9 reports are fine even if I do not pass any value to a parameter.
    Can anyone help me out in resolving this issue?
    Thanks,

    You may refer to the article:

    Hello,
    I set up Job StatusRepository in our environment ( Fusion Middleware 11.1.1.4 Win 2008 x32) as explained in Oracle Support note "How to Setup jobStatusRepository Feature in Reports 11g? [ID 858200.1]"
    The table RW_SERVER_JOB_QUEUE is always empty after running the report.
    I have checked another note "RW_SERVER_JOB_QUEUE table is empty [ID 1200613.1]" but the user who is running the report is the same as the user who " the user name where you run $ORACLE_HOME\reports\admin\sql\rw_server.sql script" so there is no grant problem to write to this table.
    Here is the excerpt of rwserver.conf file:

  • Still getting "The report filename was empty" error

    I tried re-opening this earlier discussion...
    "The report filename was empty" rears its ugly head again
    ... after this error came back; we moved our data source and I had to switch from using the viewer SDK to the engine SDK. Since I haven't seen any replies, I thought I should try creating a new discussion thread. It seems that my report which has parameters will work with the engine/ReportDocument code, but the one without parameters produces the above error. The sample code is in the other thread so I won't re-copy it here unless advised to do so. I really need to get this resolved so any guidance is greatly appreciated.
    - Robert -

    In the previous thread I attempted to provide some sample code I used for my test. Here's the meat of it, which gets called during the Page_Load event:
            private void ConfigureCrystalWithDbOverride(string ReportFile)
                ConnectionInfo crConn = CreateConnectionInfo();
                ReportDocument rptDoc = new ReportDocument();
                rptDoc.Load(Server.MapPath(ReportFile));
                Tables crTables = rptDoc.Database.Tables;
                foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table tbl in crTables)
                    tbl.LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConn;
                    tbl.ApplyLogOnInfo(tbl.LogOnInfo);
                // If the selected report has parameters, clear them out first to ensure the viewer prompts each
                // time for user input.
                if (this.crviewer1.ParameterFieldInfo.Count > 0)
                    this.crviewer1.ParameterFieldInfo.Clear();
                // Get database logon info from web.config
                Session["DynamicReport"] = rptDoc;   // Save to Session object which will be needed during subsequent postbacks
                DisplayReportInViewer(rptDoc);
            private ConnectionInfo CreateConnectionInfo()
                ConnectionInfo crInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
                string conn = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["MAS_ConnectionString"].ConnectionString;
                SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection(conn);
                crInfo.ServerName = sqlConn.DataSource;
                crInfo.DatabaseName = sqlConn.Database;
                crInfo.IntegratedSecurity = true;
                return crInfo;
            private void DisplayReportInViewer(ReportDocument rptDoc)
                this.crviewer1.ReportSource = rptDoc;
                this.crviewer1.RefreshReport();
    I should probably point out one other change from the original environment. Originally we were connecting with SQL authentication and now we're using integrated security. Not sure whether that's relevant to this particular issue, but wanted to make sure it was known.

  • WEBI Report returns results even though the Infocube is empty

    Hi all!
    I have the following problem with WebIn report refresh functionality:
    Step 1 -> I run my WebIn report this way: double click on my folder >> double click on my WebIn report >> the prompt values     pop-up appears and I choose a given MONTH and click RUN. After that, my report brings some values that are stored in the infocube. No problem SO FAR!
    Step 2 -> I go to RSA1 in BW and clean the infocube, leaving it without registers.
    Step 3 -> I do STEP 1 again and my WebIn report still brings data that was in the infocube before, but no longer exists! The report should bring 0 register as the infocube is empty.
    It sounds to be a cache problem! I went to CMC >> Servers >> WebIn Server and unchecked the CACHE boxes, in order to bypass the data in cache but, it did not work.
    Does somebody has an ideia of what is going on??
    Thanks a lot.
    regards.

    Hi Alican!
    I actually built the report again, from scracth.
    I checked Universe and no errors came out.
    regards.

    Hi Ychinnari,
    According to your description, you found error in log file of reporting services, when you come to rsreportserver.config file, the DSN tag is empty.
    DSN specify the database server that hosts the report server database connection string.  The report server database is created, this value will be encrypted and added to the configuration file. To solve the problem, we need to connect to either an
    existing report server database or create a new one for this instance. For detail information, please refer to the following steps:
    Start the Reporting Services Configuration Manager and connect to the report server instance for which you are creating the database.
    On the Database page, click Change Database.
    We can create a new report server database or select an existing database, then click Next.
    Connect to the instance of the Database Engine that you will use to create and host the report server database.
    Specify properties used to create the database.
    Specify the credentials used by the report server to connect to the report server database.
    Review the information on the Summary page to verify the settings are correct, and then click Next.
    Verify the connection by clicking a URL on the Report Server URL page or Report Manager URL page.
    For detail information about Configure a Report Server Database Connection, please refer to the following document:

  • Two commands in the report using the same parameter - fail under Java

    I have a report that contains 2 SQL commands.
    Both of these commands use one parameter X of type Number in their 'WHERE' clause.
    When i'm viewing the report in CR 2008, i'm asked for a value of this parameter and all data is filled in the report - OK
    The problem occurs when the same report is printed through Crystal Java Runtime:
    Report is printed without data! - it's empty.
    What we noticed in the debug information thrown by the Crystal libraries is that parameter value is set only in one of these commands:
    Original statement 1:
    select a.something
    from ANM_T a
    where a.anmid = {?PARAMETER01Id}
    Original statement 2:
    SELECT * from ANM_T a
    WHERE  a.anmid={?PARAMETER01Id}
    OUTCOME of Statement 1:
    select a.something
    from ANM_T a
    where a.anmid = 0
    OUTCOME of Statement 2:
    SELECT * from ANM_T a
    WHERE  a.anmid=9825
    In above example we may see that crystal set the value only in the second statement - first one got 0 - i suspect its some default value.
    Parameter in the Java code is set in the right way. In case of using only one statement it works. If we use two separate parameters (whose values are equal ) it also works.
    // we have also the loop over the parameters
    ParameterFieldController paramFieldController =
                    report.getDataDefController().getParameterFieldController();
    paramFieldController.setCurrentValue( "", paramName, paramValue );
    What is strange for me is that Crystal Reports enables to use the same parameter in two commands but if you edit one of them you may change the type of this parameter for a command ( for example from Number to String) but the parameter type in the second command remains unchanged ( it's strange because in my opinion it is the same parameter). In the Field Explorer under the Parameter Fields i still see one parameter of type used in the second command.

    Hello all,
    We have prepared some sample code to illustrate the issue.
    We have modified the sample application (Link: [http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/c07fec3e-3e11-2c10-1991-8c0fb0b82b75]) to that it also changes the parameter value. Parameter is used in two commands saved in report.
    The code changing the parameters value looks like this:
    private static void changeParameters(ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc) throws ReportSDKException {
              DataDefController dataDefController = reportClientDoc.getDataDefController();
            Fields fields = dataDefController.getDataDefinition().getParameterFields();
            for( int i = 0; i < fields.size(); i++ ){
                Field field = (Field)fields.getField( i );
                if( field.getKind() == FieldKind.parameterField ){
                            setParameter( ((ParameterField)field).getName(), "9825" , reportClientDoc);
    private static void setParameter( String paramName, String paramValue, ReportClientDocument document ) throws ReportSDKException {
         ParameterFieldController paramFieldController =
                    document.getDataDefController().getParameterFieldController();
         paramFieldController.setCurrentValue( "", paramName, paramValue );
    We have tried the following codes to change the connection info used in commands:
    Attempt 1
              Tables tables = databaseController.getDatabase().getTables();
              //Set the datasource for all main report tables.
              for (int i = 0; i < tables.size(); i++) {
                   ITable table = tables.getTable(i);
                   //Keep existing name and alias.
                   table.setName(table.getName());
                   table.setAlias(table.getAlias());
                   //Change connection information properties.
                   IConnectionInfo connectionInfo = table.getConnectionInfo();
                   //Set new table connection property attributes.
                   connectionInfo.setAttributes(propertyBag);
                   //Set database username and password.
                   //NOTE: Even if these the username and password properties don't change when switching databases, the
                   //database password is *not* saved in the report and must be set at runtime if the database is secured.
                   connectionInfo.setUserName(DBUSERNAME);
                   connectionInfo.setPassword(DBPASSWORD);
                   connectionInfo.setKind(ConnectionInfoKind.SQL);
                   table.setConnectionInfo(connectionInfo);
                   //Update old table in the report with the new table.
                   databaseController.setTableLocation(table, tables.getTable(i));
                   //databaseController.setTableLocation(tables.getTable(i), table);
    Attempt 2
             newConnectionInfo.setAttributes(propertyBag);
             connectionInfo.setUserName(DBUSERNAME);
             connectionInfo.setPassword(DBPASSWORD);
             //preserve subreport links
             SubreportController src = doc.getSubreportController();
             Map<String, SubreportLinks> linkMapper = new HashMap<String,SubreportLinks>();
             for(String subreportName : src.getSubreportNames()){
                 linkMapper.put(subreportName,
                     (SubreportLinks) src.getSubreportLinks(subreportName).clone(true));
             //If this connection needed parameters, we would use this field.
             Fields<IParameterField> pFields = doc.getDataDefController().getDataDefinition().getParameterFields();
             replaceConnectionInfos(doc.getDatabaseController(), newConnectionInfo, pFields);
             IStrings strs = src.getSubreportNames();
             Iterator<String> it = strs.iterator();
             while (it.hasNext()) {
               String name = it.next();
               ISubreportClientDocument subreport = src.getSubreport(name);
               pFields = subreport.getDataDefController().getDataDefinition().getParameterFields();
               replaceConnectionInfos(subreport.getDatabaseController(), newConnectionInfo, pFields);
             //reconnect subreport links since when using replaceConnection links are erased
             for(String subreportName : src.getSubreportNames())
               src.setSubreportLinks(subreportName, linkMapper.get(subreportName));
    private static void replaceConnectionInfos(DatabaseController aDc, IConnectionInfo aNewConnInfo, Fields<IParameterField> aParameterField) throws ReportSDKException {
             ConnectionInfos cis = aDc.getConnectionInfos(null);
             for (IConnectionInfo oldConnInfo : cis)
               aDc.replaceConnection(oldConnInfo, aNewConnInfo, aParameterField, DBOptions._useDefault
                   + DBOptions._doNotVerifyDB);
    In both cases, the observed problem occurred. In one query the parameter was set properly, while on the other it was set to 0 (or empty string in case of string parameters). What is more, no data appeared on the print.
    Do you happen to know the reason of this issue?How can we fix the problem?
    Best regards

  • OBIEE 10g - Unable to see data in the report view with grand total applied

    Hi,
    We're facing with a strange issue.
    We're working on a report view.
    We're able to see data when Grand total is not applied on the report. The moment Grand Total is applied, it's showing either an empty table with NULL values or "No Results" page.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Dpk,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I included it in the instanceconfig.xml, but the issue still exists.
    Couple of Observations
    #1 - We noticed this issue when we drill down to the level which has really sparse data.
    It works fine when we look at the enterprise wide report.
    #2 - Works fine with few dimensional attributes and facts on the report
    When we add a fact that doesn't have any value at that level, the issue starts to appear.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Adding new row to the reports list page

    How can I add a new report row in the reports list of the reports tab.
    Ex: a new row to the report "users by Date of Join report" is to be added
    How can we add Please help me out in this

    I am facing the same problem!
    camickr wrote:
    Try adding an empty row containing a null value for the String instead of the empty String.camickr, it will not help, the DefaultRowSorter in the "*+compare(int model1, int model2)+*" method return -1 if the first value is null and 1 if the sacond value is null. and incase of DESCENDING it mult by -1.
                    // Treat nulls as < then non-null
                    if (v1 == null) {
                        if (v2 == null) {
                            result = 0;
                        } else {
                            result = -1;

                        result = 1;
                    } else {
                        result = sortComparators[counter].compare(v1, v2);
                    if (sortOrder == SortOrder.DESCENDING) {
                        result *= -1;
                    }And this is the real problem!
    The empty line is sorted as the smallest value and incase of DESCENDING it will be the first line (because of the mult by -1).
    We could have overide it and incase of the empty row(usualy the last row) do not mult by -1 in DESCENDING mode.
    But the problem is that the "+*compare*+" method and it's caller "*+Row+*" inner class are private :-(
    It is not wise to do it but we can do like kmp83 wrote:
