Changed IP address, not get "bad inetd address, cannot get hostname"

I'm running OS 10.4.8 Server on a MacPro.
I've changed the IP address and name of my computer. I ran changeip and updated the IP address and hostname under Preferences > Network and Preferences > Sharing. Everything seemed to be ok, that is, I can surf the web, read email, ssh to and from (most) other computers. There are two problems:
1. I cannot "Connect to Server..." from my laptop. It claims that the "The server may not exist or is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again."
2. When I try to launch some software (Tecplot, to be precise, from an xterm) which requires contacting a license server, it claims that it "Cannot get host by name or bad inet address".
Here's some additional information:
A. If I run "nslookup <servername>" on my computer, I get
** server can't find vonkarman.mae.ufl.edu: NXDOMAIN
However, if I run the exact same command on another local machine, I get the correct IP address (not suprisingly, I can ssh to my machine from that machine).
B. If I run "hostname" on my computer, I get the right hostname.
C. If I run "uname -a", I also get what I expect.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

more information is needed about your network config.
Specifically, are you running NAT on the server? If so, how is it configured? Is the server's firewall enabled?

MSEXchange not rejecting bad email addresses

I have written a specialized email application In ACCES 2010 for my department. At first I couldn't send email outside our domain so the server folks turned on relay and gave me a static IP address. However, now the mail server does not reject bad email
addresses unless I leave off everything to the right of the @ sign. Example my real address is
[email protected]. But if I change something in the address, such as
[email protected] I don't get an error message back from the mail server, error handling is ignored and it counts as being sent. This is true for emails going both inside and outside the domain.
It seems to me that something needs to be configured on the host, or I need to do something in my ap. (I'm no expert here.) The Send part of the code is an ACCESS 2010 function. (Mail server is MSExchange 2010.) If nothing is wrong it works great.

Generally, when you send an email to an address that doesn't exist via OWA or Outlook, you will receive a NDR explaining that delivery has failed.

The password for the new Apple ID does not work since the iCloud default user name is imbedded in the login box. The login popup for iCloud will not go away so I cannot get into my iPad since it pops up as soon as I turn the device on and re-occurs every few seconds.

You have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPad on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPad when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Ok, so you said you've already right clicked on each song and "created a MP3 version?"
If so sort the library's music by "Date Added (if it is not there right click on the other sort bars and add the column "Date Added". The mp4 versions are the ones in the playlist. You will have to find the newly added mp3s by sorting by Date Added. Hope this helps!

Try updating your QuickTime Player to the most recent version. Does that clear up the launch errors in iTunes?

Suddenly the computer stoped reading DVDs and the only time I can read a CD is if I restart. Quite often when I insert a CD it gets stuck and I cannot get it out until I restart and it shows up on the desktop where I can then eject it.
I have checked and double checked the finder prefs and all looks normal showing a check mark on CDs,DVDs etc. (the ones I want to show up on the desktop)
I have reset the PEAM, repaired permissions with both the disk utility on the computer and the disk utility when I start up in the Recovery Disk. I did notice that sometimes the permission repeat the same correction several times before it moves on, and sometimes it doesn’t. I have Windows installed on a partition but I keep it unmounted until it is needed for my wife’s work. The dock seems to be just fine and all the apps seems to run just fine. When I insert a photo CD iPhoto does not open but when I insert a music CD iTunes does open.
Also, most every time I open iPhoto it takes a long time(sometimes as long as 2 minutes) for it to load.
Sometimes my Mail (Mail 5.3) does not post new mail but most of the time it does.
Once and a while it seems like the computer slows way down but then it seems ok ten minutes later.
All of these ‘things’ seemed to have happen suddenly and I have not downloaded anything from the internet in some time.
Of course the warranty and extended warranty are both no longer in effect having had this computer for more than three years.
I am running Java and Adobe Player because some of the sites I go to a lot require both.

I believe that insufficient RAM may be the source of some of your problems. If you have a RAM of somewhere 4 to 8GB, you will experience smoother computing. 3GB doesn't seem right, so you might want to learn more by going to this site:

I don't know what know what's happening with your optical drive, but it seems you use your drive quite a bit. In that case, look into a lens cleaner for your machine. It's inexpensive, works quite well.

Pay Vendor bill-to address not default bill-to address prints default addr

Customer has vendors with multiple bill-to addresses. They can create an AP invoice and select an address other than the default which works fine. When they go to pay the vendor, the check does not print the bill-to address on the AP invoice. It prints the BP default bill-to address. If you open checks for payment it brings in the default address and not the address you put on the AP invoice. Is there any way to change this? Why would we use multiple bill-to addresses if we can only pay the default?

I must have mistated the problem. The pld is printing exactly what is on the Checks for Payment window. The problem is when you create an Outgoing Payment - either manually or through the Payment Wizard, the mailing address on the AP invoice changes to the default mailing address in BP Master Data no matter what is on the AP invoice. You have to manually change the address back to the billing address on the AP invoice if it is not the default. Is there a setting I am missing, Is this a bug or is this by design. If by design it does not make sense to have multiple bill-to addresses in one vendor.

I want to use my .me email address not the new .iCloud address I've just been issued

I am now in the situation where I have different iCloud email address on my iOS devices. My iPhone has a .me address my iPad has the iCloud address and I can see no way to change either.
I would like to use the .me address to send emails as this is the one everyone knows. Please help

If you mean that the address is your rescue email address then follow the steps half-way down this page for changing it http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312 :
Navigate to appleid.apple.com using your web browser.
Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
After you've validated your identity by correctly answering your security questions, click Edit to the right of your rescue email address.
Once you've finished editing your rescue email address, click the Save button directly below the email field.
You can then try using it as your primary email address on your account (you may need to log out and back in after removing it as your rescue email address).

Laptop will not connect to the internet, cannot get configuration box to pop up

Cannot get laptop to connect to the internet. I tried the instructions on the link form Linksys. I entered 192.168.1.1 in the address window but the configuration window does not pop up.

Is the laptop connected to a wireless network? Is it connected to your network name? If it is check the IP address for me. Go to Status of your wireless connection then Details, tell me your IPv4 IP address.
If the laptop is not connected to any wireless network. Do you have a wired computer or can you attach your laptop to the router, check your IP address. If it's in the range of 192... try if you can go to http://192.168.1.1

Messages (that came w Moutain Lion) will not deliver my messages anymore - cannot get it work. Anyone else having this issue?

Messages (the old iChat) was working great when I first downladed Mountain Lion. Since a few days ago, I cannot get messages to send any messages on my MacBook Pro and it won't send some messages on my iPhone (some work, some don't). I have tried quitting the program and restarting it, I have tried restarting the computer. I've gone into preferences and cannot find anything in there to change or fix...I'm at a loss as to why this is happening. Anyone w/ any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!!

My problem is somewhat similar. I just replaced my iMac with a Retina MBP, and mostly everything migrated (except for a couple apps like XCode) and it's running fine, pretty much identical to the iMac. Messages was working fine on iMac (both have Mountain Lion latest update), and I'm getting all my messages fine on the RMBP, but every message I send errors out and resending errors out, haven't been able to get one delivered since I switched.
Is there any way to debug what is causing the time out error? I'm logged into my accounts properly, have restarted messages several times, turned off the original iMac in case of error, etc.
Edit: But I didn't reboot my RMBP, and of course, guess what? That fixed it. '
My guess is that because I had the iMac still running on the same network as sort of a twin to the new computer, it might have caused some sort of confusion that wasn't worked out until I restarted fresh with the iMac off. You would think that would only cause problems with recieving, not sending, but that's my theory.

TS3991 I have restored my mini i pad after it would not let me get in and I cannot get to the settings or general settings at all I cannot get into my i pad at all what do I need to do?

I was in the general settings on my ipad a couple of days ago and when I signed out and wanted to come back on i could not get into my pad at all I have changed the id and password three times and i still cannot get into the pad. Is the general setting keeping me out? I put the passcode in and I still cannot gaet in, is the passcode my password if so why can I not get in?

Just installed OS 8.3, it opened and locked into iTunes connection logo as opening screen. I cannot get to any other screen. Hard close down has not solved it and I cannot get to usual homescreen to access the reset options. Ideas?

Earlier today my iPad which was using OS 8.2) kept shutting down every few minutes. I thought it might be some new incompatibility connected with the recent release of OS 8.3,. So, I updated to OS 8.3. It took many attempts and a very long time - over an hour - because the iPad kept shutting down mid-process. Supposedly 8.3 is now installed, but all I get is the Apple logo followed by a screen showing a connection, cursor arrow pointing up-screen to a box reading "iTunes". I cannot get out of that screen to any other screen and can only close by hard shut down, fully powering off (home button + power button). When I restart the device it shows first the Apple logo for a few seconds, then the iTunes connection logo. Nothing else. This has been going on for about three hours now. I am not an iTunes user so I am not sure what to think or what to expect.. Is it maybe something to do with iTunes being updated in the background? 3 hours seems a long time for an update whatever it is. Is anyone else encountering this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions, bearing in mind that I cannot get to the usual opening home screen, so can't get to settings or anything to do a reset. I hope someone can help me with this problem. If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, read this.

IPad locked unable to unlock not enough storage on iCloud , cannot get into settings to manage.

MY wife's iPad is in lockdown, it will not allow you to unlock or even power off, a message appears on the screen saying Not Enough Storage this iPad cannot be backed up because there is not enough storage available in iCloud . You can manage your storage in Settings. There are two buttons, one is Close the other is Settings. Neither of the buttons will respond, the iPad then closes. Can anybody HELP.

Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
