Changing data in Mail adapter

Hi,
I have created receiver Mail adapter for sending PO. XML file, received by mail from XI has slightly changed structure (one or several characters can be changed or missed). I have sent data as attachment and in Mail body - the same result. If I use receiver file adapter instead of mail adapter, I receive correct XML file.
Could you please advice, can it be that mail server change data in mail or it is a problem of XI mail adapter?
Thank you in advance
Lev

Hi Lev,
Just do a cache refresh......then your this issue may be solved....even on refrshing the cache, this problem persists......then delete your mail adapter.....do a cache refresh......create a new mail adapter......then your this proble may be solved.
Thanks,
Rajeev Gupta

  • Change data source - mail merge

I have a mail merge document which was migrated to a new server. Now every time when I run the mail merge document it tells me "Error has occurred: The Microsoft Access database could not find the object '   '. Make sure the object exists and
that you spell its name and the p". In the error it points to the old path on the server. When I click OK the data link properties window pops up. I change the data source to point to the path of the new server and the document opens up. The only problem is
that this does not save. I have to specify the new path to the server everytime. How do I set this permanently?

    1. Do you have the same problem if you try to connect a completely new Word document to the data source? If so, probably something wrong with the Excel file - if you can reconstruct it, or even create a test file with the same sheet name and column names,
that may show that the file is/was at fault.
    2. For the default OLE DB connection type, the SQL message is the correct one - the SQL does not reference the workbook path or name - that comes from the file name or connection string which is not displayed in that dialog box.
    3. When you see the SQL warning and click Yes, do you then see a dialog box which provides the workbook path/name. Does that file exist? Is it the one you expect? If yes, again, I would suspect the Excel file. If no, the wrong data source is "sticking".
That will happen if the previous data source has not been properly disconnected - e.g. If you proceed from the dialog I mention, then choose the option to find the data source in the next or subsequent dialog, it does then appear that you have corrected
the problem, but in fact Word "reverts" to the previous source the next time you open. Typically clicking Yes in the SQL dialog box should disconnect the old data source, but I would at least "make sure" by e.g. setting the mail merge main
document type to Normal Word Document in the mailings tab.

**I changed the receiver mail adapter to not use Mail package and I receive an email without errors with the Content as mentioned above. **

    Hi Teresa,
I think the problem is that you are using multiple "Content" tags. Have you tried to use only one?, you can concatenate all your text.
Check the page 3 of this document to know how introduce new-line character http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d0964d7c-e66e-2910-24bb-ac535e4a5992?overridelayout=t…

  • Mail Adapter Change File Extension

We have the receiver mail adapter setup to send the contents of a message to an internal email account. The adapter works and the message arrives as a soap.xml and payload.xml. The problem is that our mail system blocks the xml extension. Is there an easy way to switch the extensions from say xml to txt on the messages.
It looks like the PayloadSwapBean module can change the content type, but I just want to alter the extensions. I know I could use an XSLT to convert the contents to html and then just send the message as an html email but I was hoping to avoid design changes.

<i>Q: Can I choose the name of an attachment in the mail?
A: Yes. Most mail clients use some heuristics based on some MIME headers to derive the name of an attachment. The MIME headers involved in most heuristics are Content-Type, Content-Description, and Content-Disposition. When you create an XI message, the XI payload name is automatically set in the Content-Description. If you want to change or set all of these headers, you can use the MessageTransformBean module (Note 793922) in the adapter framework.
Related questions: How can I set the file name of a mail attachment?
Q: How can I set the file name of a mail attachment?
There are several MIME headers that play a role in how the client retrieves the file name of an attachment. Unfortunately, this behavior differs among various mail clients. The reason for this inconsistent behavior comes from the fact that this mechanism has been extended incrementally. The old way is to use the name parameter in the Content-Type header as specified in RFC1341. For example, you can set the content type of an XML attachment as:
               Content-Type: application/xml; name="abc.xml"
RFC1521 discourages the use of this name parameter in anticipation of the new header Content-Disposition, which is defined in RFC1806.
With this Content-Disposition header, you can set the file name as:
               Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="abc.xml"
Some clients may show the Content-Description value as the file name. The Content-Description header is typically used to associate some descriptive information to an attachment (RFC1341) as in
               Content-Description: my xml file
To avoid potential interpretation problems, it is recommended to combine the use of these headers.
How to use MailPackage in Receiver?
A: When a mail message is sent out by the receiver adapter, normally the mail header information such as "From", "To", "Subject" are taken from the channel configuration. In order to dynamically set these headers, you can use the MailPackage mode. In this case, the XI payload must be formated in the Mail Package XML format. The format of this mail package XML document is defined in note 748024.</i>
Use the mail Package and the set the <b>Content-Disposition </b> with the file name and extension.
For info on how to use this mail package, take a look at this blog too,

  • Change "subject" in Receiver Mail Adapter Module

    Hi all,
following the "How To Guide" I developed a Module for my receiver mail adapter. Everything works fine.
Now my question: is it possible to change the content of the mail-"subject" in the module?
    Your help is appreciated.
    Carmen

    Hi Stefan,
maybe I should describe my problem more detailed:
My scenario is RFC-XI-Mail. I use the mail package to determine the receiver of the mail dynamically. Another thing I want to do, is to attach a file to this mail which is located on the server. So far so good.
My problem is, that the name of the file (which I need in my adapter module) changes for every mail. So what I need is the possibility to deliver it to the adapter module.
I found out that it is possible to read the payload. So my idea was to hand it over in one of the fields like "subject". But now I want to change the subject afterwards...(delete the filename).
    Maybe you have another idea?
    Regards
    Carmen

  • Read date from an email using sender mail adapter.

    Hi All,
I am working on a scenario, which reads emails from mail box using POP3 protocol and Mail adapter. How to get the mail attributes like received date? I have to take some decisions based on that field.
Also can we tell to move that mail to different folder in that mail box after successfully read? it is like archiving folder in that mail box.
    Regards,
    Hari

    Hi Hari,
You use IMAP4 (Internet Message Access Protocol) to retrieve e-mails from a folder of an e-mail server.
You use POP3 (Post Office Protocol Version 3) to retrieve e-mails from an e-mail server.
AFAIK,  you have to use IMAP4 protocol for moving email to another folder are reading email successfully. And i don't think POP3 will allow this functionality.
Regarding email date , If you maintain Message protocol as XIPAYLOAD you will receive all header details(Subject , TO ,FROM ,CC,DATE ,etc ) in your payload.
    Thanks
    Hari.

  • Change attachment name using mail adapter

    Hi All,
I have a problem changing the attachment name in my scenario. I use Mail scenario to send a pdf Attachment from R/3 to email address. Everything working fine except the attachment name that becoming untitled.pdf and untitled.txt.
    Communication Channel setting :
    message protocol : xipayload
    transport protocol : smtp
    checked use mail package
    checked keep attachment
I have use MessageTransformBean in my receiver adapter, but no luck. It was produce an error.
anyone have an idea to solve my problem?
    thx,
    Robby

    Hi,
You need to go to the Module tab of the Mail adapter receiver communcation channel and give the parameter as Transform.contentDisposition and its value as attachment ( since you needed the output to be sent as an attachment) and give the name of the attachment as you required.
Please see the help page : [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/57/0b2c4142aef623e10000000a155106/frameset.htm] for more details and more options of the parameters.

  • Mail Adapter : Receiving a Dat file

    Hi,
I am sending an error message to MAIL adapter during a IDOC->XI<->HTTP Receive.
I am getting the error message to my email id in the form of .DAT file(an attachment)
    The "Keep Attachments" is unchecked.
Why is that i am not able to get this within the body of the email?
    Thanks,
    Tirumal

    hi,
These blogs help me send an email with attachments which i do not want.
I am getting the message in .DAT file which i have to open in an editor but i want the contents to be the body of the email.
    e.g.
    <email_text>
         <id>123</id>
         <name>123Test</name>
         <datesent>06/06/06</datesent>
    </email_text>
I need to see the contents of the email as <id>, <name> and <datesent> in the body.
    I am on SP16.
    Thanks again,

  • Mail Adapter: How to send data as a simple text file attachment?

    Hi All
I have a proxy to file scenario, where i write data to a text file.
Now, i need to have a second receiver. I have to send an email, with the above file as an attachment, to this receiver.
    How can i do this?
How can i send the data as a text file attachment to the receiver?
    Many Thanks
    Chandra

    Hi,
To send the message to the second receiver you need to have:
    1) Necessary mail message format (can download from service marketplace)
    2) Receiver mail communication channel.
    3) Create the necessary Configuration Objects .... Receiver Determination, Interface Determination, Receiver Agreement.
    3) You can do a XSLT mapping (if required)....if no complex logic is needed then you can do a simple Message mapping.
    4) In the receiver CC make sure that you check the Adapter Specific Message Attribute checkbox.
For more info you can refer my answer in this thread:

  • Change e-mail body in mail adapter using module.

    Hi All,
I am woking with one mail adapter and I prepared one code to change the attachement name and body content. The attachement is working good but the body e-mail is not working.
After to check a lot of blog my code now is creating two attachements one with the Payload (xml) and other with the text that suppose to come as a body e-mail.
    Someone could help me ?
    Thanks a lot.
    Michael Peretto

    Hi Michael,
Can you check if your main attachment (the one that should be the mail text) does not carry the wrong content-disposition header?
The easiest way to check is to use some message capturing tool (e.g., TCPGateway attached in the SOAP FAQ Note). If this header is present, it should have value inline to inform the mail client to display the content in inline. If the value is set wrong, the MessageTransformBean module can be misused to repair this content header.
    Best regards, Yza

    sandeep,
we are using the sender mail adapter to receive mails (IDOCS) from a Exchange server
when a sales person gets PO thrugh mail then he sends this Po to Mainframes then we use mail to file.

  • Changing data structure in the receiver SOAP adapter

I was wondering whether it is possible to have changing data structure in terms of one receiver SOAP adapter so I could sent data type 1 and 2 to a single XI web service enabled URL and make conditional parsing in terms of the received message ?
I have a receiver SOAP adapter that ideally should be able to receive two different types of messages. But SOAP adapter is fixed to a sigle message interface that naturally has it's data structure set to just one type. I can just create conditions in terms of the data type 1 message that has been defined in the design side.
Is it possible achieve this with just one SOAP receiver adapter?
