Changing Layout size with artwork

Hi there
I have 9 little magazines that I have to send for print tomorrow. I received the artwork on disc, but the initial artwork is a custom size. I need the artwork to be printed on A5.
Is it at all possible to change the page setting to A5 and the artwork will conform to the size change? Or do I have to change the artwork to fit the A5 size page by page?
Hope I asked the question right.
Thank you very much

Is the artwork PDF format?

  • How to change flash size with ac3?

I want to change flash size with xml. Sample config.xml
    <genGenis>300</genGenis>
    <genYuksek>100</genYuksek>
My flash read xml and change size to 300 * 100
After working in a flash I want to change the default values. Is this possible?

Have you worked with XML before? You're going to need to load that XML file and wait for it to complete. After you do that, are you using layout logic based on these values to create your content? Meaning do you have code in place to realize you have (as you said) 500x200 space so your code is able to use the space available effectively? Or do you just expect the content of the SWF to scale automagically?
As for the loader, you can use a simple URLLoader to load the external XML file. Here's a quick Adobe code snippit and explaination on how to load it:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/dev/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d118a9b90204-7e6a.html
Once you have the XML in an XML object you can just access the value via the XML variable name you make (e.g. myXML) with the name of the node while getting its text value. In your case you'll need to convert it to a Number because you may want the flexibility of using fractions (e.g. 1.5, 500.25, etc). So you'd need to case the value to a number. So to get the width it'd be like: var myWidth:Number = Number(myXML.genGenis.text()); and same for height just changing the variable and node name as needed.
Now that you have your values you can write layout code to use the numbers and handle the content creation yourself.
If you don't do that, as Andrei1 mentioned you'll need to affect the object embedded directly using ExternalInterface (Flash AS3 talking to the webpages JavaScript) requesting the object be resized to the new size.
You'll want to make sure your stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.EXACT_FIT; or stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_BORDER; so your SWF content is "stretched" to the size you request. Exact fit will allow the content to distort if necessary to fill the width and height. No border will scale the content to the size specified but will maintain the aspect ratio. It's up to you whichever you want.
If you have any specific questions on any of this just ask.

  • Cannot change page size with acrobat

I am able to convert my manuscript in Mac word(2011) to adobe acrobat (XI); unfortunately the 6 X 9 " page size does not convert. I spent a few hours on the phone with adobe support and the final resolution was to upload the file to them and they converted it for me. however, they used distiller which reduced the file size and appears to have affected the many images. Does anyone have any advice? The best I have been able to glean online is work with inDesign to change page size.

    Thanks.
The problem was with the paper size. In addition to change the page size I needed to change the paper size in the print option before selecting save Adobe PDF.
From Word go to File> Print
Open the Copies & Pages dropdown
    Select Paper Handling
Check the Scale to fit paper size box
Open the Destination Paper Size list
    Select your custom 6x9 Preset
    Click the PDF button
Select either Save as PDF or Save as Adobe PDF
The unfortunate thing is that I was able to do this initially, but when I went back to replicate it adobe is creating 2 files one with my cover page and the rest to the manuscript. Luckily my initial copy was good. Thanks again for your help.

  • Changing brush size with keyboard?

is there a way to change the size of a brush, like that of the clone stamp without having to drag the slider in the property inspector, but instead with a keyboard short cut like you can do in Photoshop?

It's possible that there exists an extension for this...

Here are a couple of places I'd search for this... Maybe it'll help!

    hi!
create a variable window and write this code there
/: POSITION XORIGIN '2' CM YORIGIN '10' CM
/: SIZE WIDTH '18.05' CM HEIGHT '18' CM
    /: BOX FRAME 10 TW
/: POSITION XORIGIN '2.05' CM YORIGIN '10.05' CM
/: BOX WIDTH '18' CM HEIGHT '1' CM INTENSITY 15
/: POSITION XORIGIN '3.5' CM YORIGIN '10' CM
/: BOX FRAME 10 TW WIDTH '0' TW HEIGHT '18' CM
/: POSITION XORIGIN '9.2' CM YORIGIN '10' CM
/: BOX FRAME 10 TW WIDTH '0' TW HEIGHT '18' CM
/: POSITION XORIGIN '11.5' CM YORIGIN '10' CM
/: BOX FRAME 10 TW WIDTH '0' TW HEIGHT '18' CM
then create a main window with same height and width as that of the varaible window (overlapping the variable window on to it).
now on looping in the main table and displaying the data boxes will come it self....
here the main window dimensions are
    MAIN 00 Main Window 2,00 CM 10,00 CM 18,00 CM 18,00 CM
[then with the help of data element call the box
/: BOX WIDTH '18' CM HEIGHT '1' CM FRAME 10 TW
in loop where write_form is called....]
u will get the box with the data printed in the form......
keeping same for the variable window....
    and try it....
    this will be done....

    Hi,
we don´t have many options for setting the font type and size in an ABAP list. One option is that you print the output using either SmartForms or AdobeForms, where you can control font type as well as size. This one requires additional work.
Another option is to use the instruction Print-Control:
    NEW-PAGE PRINT ON.
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 1 SIZE 1 LPI 6 CPI 10.
    WRITE: /10   'FONT 1 size 1 LPI 6 cpi 10'.
    SKIP.
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 1 SIZE 5 LPI 6 CPI 5.
    WRITE: /10   'FONT 1 size 5 LPI 6 cpi 5'.
    SKIP.
    PRINT-CONTROL FONT 2 SIZE 5 LPI 6 CPI 10.
    WRITE: /10   'FONT 2 size 5 LPI 6 cpi 10'.
    SKIP.
    NEW-PAGE PRINT OFF.

  • Change Page size with a Script

I have made artwork in Illustrator that is set up as two page spreads on 1 artboard.
I need to convert this to single page spreads.
I.e. So for half the documents, I need to set the anchor point of the document to top left and half the width of the artboard.
For the other half of the documents, I need to set anchor point to to right and half the width.
    Is this possible with scripting?
I have look around online to find ways of accessing the document size and anchor point via scripting, but cannot seem to find any resources.
Thanks for any help that can be offered.
Edit: Also is it possible to create a new artboard with a script and assign it a name?

here you go, this script splits the artboard in two
    // carlos canto

  • CHANGE BRUSH SIZE WITH CTRL and alt KEYS

    Hello everyone,
i'm on the road with my new macbook and i have a problem with setting up my wacom pen.
At home i use a iMac with CS5 and to change the brush size i press the alt and the ctrl key and move the pen to left/tight up/down to chang size and hardnes of the brush. I find this very handy!
On my new Macbook i have CC and i don't have the option to use this easy key combination, i was loking around and did some google, but i could not find the place to get the same settings on my macbook.
Is there anyone who can help me?
    Thank you very much.

When you press and hold Option/Alt  + Control  and Left mouse click and drag nothing happens?
(the button on your pen is set to left click?)
The Option/Alt key should always be the second key to the left of the spacebar
The Control key should always be the third key to the left of the spacebar

  • Change Cursor Size with Pen Pressure

Does anyone know of a way to make the paintbrush cursor size change dynamically according to pen pressure with a tablet?
I'm coming to Photoshop from GIMP, and in GIMP when you use more or less pressure on the tablet, the cursor icon automatically changes size based on the pressure so you know exactly how large a line the tool will draw.
In Photoshop it seems you can choose "normal" or "full size" for the cursor circle, or else use crosshairs, but there doesn't seem to be an option for a dynamically shaped cursor. Am I wrong and just missing something? Or does Photoshop really not have this feature?

When you press and hold Option/Alt  + Control  and Left mouse click and drag nothing happens?
(the button on your pen is set to left click?)
The Option/Alt key should always be the second key to the left of the spacebar

  • Change brush  sizes using [  ] too slow

I've recently swapped from Windows to Mac and I'm glad to be on Mac now. But whenever I'm changing brush sizes using the bracket keys the response time is way to slow.. I search the forum but found nothing on this. anyone have a fix for this..
Running Leopard with OS 10.5.4 three internal harddrives and 10 gigs ram.
All updates and patches were installed prior to photoshop.
    Machine is one week old.

I completely remove Photoshop and did a clean install. Before changing anything I opened an image and tried increasing and decreasing my brush size using the bracket keys and everything was fine. The brush changes as soon as you hit the bracket key.
But as soon as you highlight the info palette top right corner and make it active then come back over the picture and try changing the brush size I'm getting a one second delay. If I hit the bracket key three times quickly the brush completely disapears and then reapears at the appropriate size.
This is a clean install with no plugins, no new fonts, no new nothing.
I then downloaded the latest upgrades.. Reset disk permission, ran the chron scripts and I'm getting the exact same reaction from photoshop when attempting to change brush size with the bracket keys.
Can anybody else reproduce this buy highlighting the info palette??
I called a buddy who also recently purchased a new Mac Pro and his machine is doing the exact same thing.

  • CS6 not changing photo size?

I have watched a few videos, on changing image size, in cs6, since when I tried it, the photo didn't change size at all. I could change it to 1 million inches tall, and it will stay the same size. I don't really know what to do. I've tried unlocking the default layer, and changing the canvas size and nothing seems to make this image change size. I want the image in the picture bigger,  am I even doing it right by going under image, and changing the image size, and hitting ok? That is all the tutorials say to do, yet nothing happens for my image.

An image file just stores the image as arrays of pixels -- 1000 x 2000, 3000 x 4000, 5723 x 8557 or whatever.  Those pixel maps don't have any inherent "size".  The image file can also contain metadata that tells software how to interpret the pixels.  For example, the metadata could say 72 pixels per inch (ppi), 100 ppi, 360 ppi, 1000 ppi, or whatever.
In Photoshop (and in most other pixel image editing programs), you can change the metadata to give the image a different "size" without changing the pixels at all.  For example, an image that's 1000 x 2000 pixels, at 100 ppi, will be 10" x 20".  If the ppi is changed to 1000 ppi, the same image will be 1" x 2".  And at 10 ppi, the image will be 100" x 200".  But the image pixels will be unchanged; they will just be bigger or smaller pixels.  Each one of these files will be 2 megapixels and will occupy exactly the same amount of file space (before compression, assuming 8-bit RGB, 6 MB).
All of the foregoing is with "resample image" unchecked, which ensures no change to the pixel array data.  Now, if you want to grow (or shrink) the size of the image pixel array, you can do that in photoshop by changing the size with "resample image" checked.  This will add or subtract pixels, changing the image data.  So if you change a 1000 x 2000 image that's 100 ppi and thus 10" x 20", by changing the image size to 1" x 2", with resampling checked, the data will be shrunk to give you a 100 x 200 image.  90% of the data will disappear.  Your image will be 1/10 the size in terms of data and pre-compression file size.  If you were to resize the image back to 10" x 20" with resampling unchecked, you would still have a 100 x 200 image, which would have 10 ppi resolution --  a much crappier image.  If you were to resize the image back to 10" x 20" with resampling checked, you would get a 1000 x 2000 image with 100 ppi resolution, but it would still be a crappy image because 90% of the pixels would be newly created through interpolation, not the pixels in the original image.

  • Can anyone help with printer options on iPad mini, can I change layout paper size?

I am trying to change the printer options on my iPad mini so that I can print on legal size paper,  I also would like to change to portrait layout.  Is this an option when printing from an iPad Mini?

    Chad-
I think the same problem exists with all the iOS devices.  I suggest you look for a free App from the manufacturer of your printer.  It will have limitations, but may include the ability to change paper size and image size and orientation.
There are other printing Apps such as Print n Share that can do that, but they are not free.
The problem you may face, is that such printing Apps can only be accessed from within other Apps that have the "Open In" option.  If you can use their built-in programs, they may meet your needs.

    Applied rules from evdev:
    rules: evdev
    model: evdev
    layout: us,ru
    options: grp:ctrl_shift_toggle
Trying to build keymap using the following components:
    keycodes: evdev+aliases(qwerty)
    types: complete
    compat: complete
    symbols: pc+us+ru:2+inet(evdev)+group(ctrl_shift_toggle)
    geometry: pc(pc104)
    xkb_keymap {
    xkb_keycodes { include "evdev+aliases(qwerty)" };
    xkb_types { include "complete" };
    xkb_compat { include "complete" };
    xkb_symbols { include "pc+us+ru:2+inet(evdev)+group(ctrl_shift_toggle)" };
    xkb_geometry { include "pc(pc104)" };
This config is still not changing visualistaion of layout (right top corner of gnome), but triggering is ok
If it helps - keyboard is Logitech K800, desktop - gnome 3
Thanks for attention and sorry for my bad english
UPD: Solved by Gnome settings, not Xorg

I have re-checked the issue and I found that the problem is with JPG file.
I wasn't even aware you could save a path to a jpeg file (always use PSD because of wanting to keep the Alpha Channel, jpeg only can contain 1 layer and no alpha channels and/or transparency).
However I tried it on a file with a simple path and one with a complex path. It seems indeed you have found a bug. The simple path is no problem but the more complex path is indeed disappearing.
It is not only label but also rate or adding IPTC in the description field. The moment metadata is saved to this jpeg file and reopened the earlier present work path of a more complex path is gone.
Despite the fact that to my opinion a jpeg is not the most suitable file format for saving a work path this should not happen. If a work path is saved to a jpeg then it should be kept saved after just altering metadata in Bridge.
It still is the same behavior in Bridge CC because that is what I use. Don't know when it started but it still needs to be repaired
