Changing Pages Format So That a PC Can Open It..?!!

I wrote an essay using Pages, sent it to my professor but he apparantly can't open it with the format that is used by Pages.. I was shown a long time ago how to change the file type, but I forgot, PLEASE help if you can, I have to get back to him immediately!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the forum.
Spend some time and look for the obvious choices in the menus (there are 4 methods of Saving as or Exporting).
Also read the Pages09_UserGuide.pdf downloadable from under the Help menu, where there are also video tutorials.

Right-click on the document, select Get Info... In the lower half of the tall window that opens is a section labeled Open With (you may need to click on the disclosure triangle to see detail). Select from the pop-up list which app should open this document. If you want that to become the default condition, click on the Change All... button.

How can we change page format from A6 to A4 in smart forms

Hi,
Currently smart form is printing output in A6 page.Now my customer wants in A4 page.How can we change the page format from A6 to A4.Now the output should print in A4 page instead of A6 page.
I checked the page format in form attribtes it is DINA4.Do in need to change the page format here.
Is there any settings for this.Plase advice.I appriciate your guidence in this regard.Thanks in advance

As the form is formated to A4, now the one A4 sheet and take a print out as well take a print with A6 sheet check the difference. If the data is not printed in right way then u need to do alignment.
If it's printing in the same as it used to be, then check the settings in SPAD.

How do i change my settings so that a file automatically opens in Office Word

I am using Firefox as my search engine and when I open files it used to ask me if it was ok to open them in Office Word. It used to open them perfectly. I guess I clicked something wrong and now the files open automatically in Microsoft Works Word Processor. How can I change it back to open then files automatically in Office Word?

There are a few different possibilities when Firefox doesn't handle downloads automatically.
First, can you check the Options dialog to make sure Firefox saved your preference?
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Applications
It takes some time for the list to load... then in the search box above the list type '''word''' to filter it down to the entries for Word documents. Do these show that you want to Open with MS Word?
If those check out but Firefox isn't doing it, there are two possibilities:
(1) Website might be using a generic content type header.
Firefox doesn't actually inspect the document or check the file extension. Instead, it relies on the server to send a content type such as "application/msword" to look up the proper handling. If the server just says this is a binary file of non-specific type, then Firefox always prompts you for instructions.
If this is the problem, then you would find that Firefox sometimes handles Word documents correctly and sometimes doesn't depending on the site.
(2) Download handler settings file might be corrupted.
The longer you have Firefox, the more likely that extra lines will creep into this file and potentially cause conflicting instructions. You can rename the file and have Firefox generate a fresh one.
Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
* (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
* type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This should launch a separate window listing files and folders.
Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:
* "3-bar" menu button > "power" button
* (menu bar) File > Exit
Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then rename '''mimeTypes.rdf''' to something like mimeTypes.old
Start Firefox back up again and it should create a new settings file with default settings. Any improvement on the next download or two?

I created a newsletter using pages on my IPAD3. I can see see it...the icon is till there but when I tap it to open it, I get kicked out of pages.   Tried rebooting and I can open other documents, but not this one. Any ideas?

I created a newsletter using pages on my IPAD 3. All of a sudden I can no longer open that document.   When I click on it, it throws me out of pages all together. I can open other pages documents, but not that one. It is very frustrating to be able to SEE the file, but not open it.
I rebooted and I do have icloud back-up on but am not sure how to restore an older version. I also made sure there are no updates for pages.   Until the IPAD I used a home PC which I still have but am trying to wean myself off of. I wish now I had used MS Publisher on my PC for the newsletter even though I hate it.
Please don't tell me I have lost my Newsletter and 20 hours worth of work.

Try resetting your iPad. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for 7 or 8 seconds till the Apple logo appears.
I'm assuming your default is to save Pages documents to iCloud, and that you had a good WiFi connection when you closed Pages the last time you tried to save the document.

I cannot send a copy of a document that my partners can open. I have saved it to iCloud and sent a link, but they can't open it.

Are you using Numbers? Are they, or are they using Microsoft Excel? (in which case you would have to export it as Excel). Are they perhaps using a different version of Numbers? (You can also export to Numbers '09 format).

I am still running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and this is how I can do it. Save the document as a Word document with the Save As option in the menu at the top and then change the file extension from .pages to .txt.
Save the file to the desktop - File>Save As>Save Copy As>Word Document. The you can click on the icon on the desktop to highlight it and get info on it by using "Command+I" and then change the extension to .txt - or click on the icon to highlight it and then from the menu at the top of the screen - File>Get Info - and change the extension to .txt. Close the Info window after you change the extension and accept the prompt to change the extension.
Or rather than change the file extension - open the doucment in Word - if you have the application and then save it as text only. I assume that you do not have Word or you would not have asked how to do this but just in case - you can do it in Word as well.

I Web 08 Help with page format so that a page when viewed covers the screen

I published my pages to a folder to see how my business site would look to a viewer. It only covers part of the screen and looks dumb. If I leave the background totally white around text and photos, a page will cover the screen but also look dumb due to the big left and right margins. When I looked at other sites created in I Web, they covered the screen. Do the various pages cover the screen when published for real? When I called for help I was told that we are stuck with I Web's format. I would be grateful for anyone who has the patience to help. And I am not HTML savvy. Thanks, M
PS. I also wanted to put a colored border around part of the page but than really narrowed the page for viewing and fitting in the content.
A friend who has a PC used 1 & 1 to build a small professional site. It was easy, inexpensive, and looked professional. Why hasn't apple offered an easy alternative to I Web for building a professional site? Dreamweaver, I am told, is complicated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What size screen do you want to cover? My monitor is 1600 pixels wide (a 22" display). To change the size of the page you use the IInspector/Page/Layout pane. But there's a limit to what you can do and have it look good. If you shoot for a larger monitor those with a smaller will be overwhelmed and have to scroll sideways to view the page. I believe iWeb uses as a default size a good compromise for the many monitor sizes out there.
Personally, I don't like sites that cover the entire monitor window and my desktop. Just a personal quirk.

How do I save a web page so that someone else can open it?

Sometimes I want to save web pages as archives for future reference. I thought printing as a PDF would be the most widely readable format, but items on the page are often lost and I end up with question marks.
I have just tried "Save As" to a web archive, and that works well in Safari (meaning that Safari can reopen it perfectly), but when I emailed the file to a PC user they couldn't open it. I assumed a web archive format would be readable by any web browser; obviously that's not the case.
How do I archive a web page so that it is universally readable without losing any content?

A web-link won't work because the particular page I want to send requires a subscription. The story about this particular page I want to send: four of us are planning a 7-day hiking trip through some Tasmanian wilderness, and we don't go unless the weather forecast is fine. I am subscribed to a weather website, but when I send this link:

they don't get the meteograms (graphs of various weather aspects out to 10 days).
So, I want to save the particular page and send it off. In general, though, I simply want to archive certain pages.
In my limited testing it looks like:
• Safari can't save a web page accurately;
• Firefox can, but it generates a separate folder of files ( I would have to combine the two, then zip them, then email);
• iCab may be able to, but I haven't tested it yet.
I didn't think saving a web page, incorporated into a single file, would be so complicated.

How can i change the format of videos so they can be synced with my iPod nano

I have an ipod nano (3rd generation) and have had no problem syncing all my music onto it etc. But most of my videos are unable to be synced and a message saying 'so and so cannot be synced as it cannot be played on this ipod'. I've looked it up and apparently I need to change the video format / create it to ipod or iphone version. I found this by clicking on the episode and under file, clicking 'create new version', there are then three options of versions to create including ipod or iphone but they are all faded and i am unable to click on them. Why is this? help!

I can't access my sync account. It rejects the password. I change the password so that computer #2 can logon - now computer #1 can't logon. This not a fun game!

1) Set up Notebook with new sync account. Worked great!
2) Installed Sync on Desktop. Selected existing sync account. Password was rejected. Reset password on notebook. (waited a day) Password was rejected. Reset password on Desktop - it was accepted.
3) Notebook is now unable to connect to sync account - password rejected. rejected "new" password as well. Notebook wants me to enter a new password! What's the deal? I have another notebook to add Sync to - but there's no point until I can get 1&2 up.

You will need to contact the customer services for the email service that was hacked and try to convince them that your account has been hacked.
There are a number of ways that they get access to the password. One of the most common is by phishing, you are presented with a bogus site that looks like the login page for the email service/site and you enter your login details. This is frequently done by sending an email to you saying that you need to log into the site or need to confirm your details.
To makes sure that your computer is not infected with malware, try running several malware scanners. It is best to run several as each will pick up things that the others miss. Some scanners you can try are:

My email font size change to a very small font. It's hard to read. I change page scale, but that did not work.

My email is extracted off the comcast server. When I downloaded firefox 4, I email font dropped to a much small font. It's hard to read and I can't figure out how to increase the font size.

Every time I open Address book, it opens on the same person. Someone I don't really want as the first contact I see every day!...
Is there a setting to change this? or a way to set a "Key Contact"?

Use the Settings app
Settings > iTunes and App Store > tap on the incorrect Apple ID that appears > Sign Out > then sign in with your correct Apple ID.
Keep in mind that all apps downloaded or purchased are always associated with the Apple ID used to purchase or download them. As those apps have updates you will need to enter the Apple ID and password that was used for them. If you want to avoid this delete all of the apps purchased or downloaded with a previous Apple ID and download them again with the current Apple ID. You will have purchase any apps that are not free.
