Changing Query Name

Hi All,
I want to change the existing Query/Technical name,
   how do i do that...
Thanks

Hi!:
You can not change existing queries technical name once it is created, but you can create a copy of an existing query by using the query save as button in query designer and save the query with a new description and a technical name.
Normal conventions followed are:
stand queries start with Q
Adhoc Queries start with Z
Temporary queries start with Y
For example:
QSLSZSD_C01_0001
Q refers to Standard
SLS refers to the sales functional area for which query is developed
ZSD_C01 refers to a sales cube on which the query is based on and 0001 refers to some incremental serial number for indicating the number of queries created for this particular cube.
Note for workbooks systems assigns the technical name and we choose only workbook's description.
Please award points...

  • How to change the default sql servery query name?

Whenever we click on new query button, Sql server automatically opens a new query with default name SQLQuery1.sql.
Can I change this default name? What I mean to say is I have to work with quite a number of databases on different servers. So I open multiple queries on different server. So I was finding a way where whenever I click on
New Query button it inherits servername or database name (e.g If I have database name like ABCD new query name should look like ABCDquery.sql ?)
So that I can distinguish which query belong to which Database?
I would be very greateful if you can please answer this.
    Many thanks

Please try with different color code option for your servers:
    Ref: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh213617.aspx
Set the Status Color for a Server in Object Explorer
To set a server status color in Object Explorer
In Object Explorer, select the Connect button and then select Database
    Engine….
On the Connect to Server dialog, select Options >>.
Select the Use custom color check box.
To select the color, select the Select… button.
Select either a basic or custom color, then select OK.
Fill in the rest of the connection information, and then select the Connect button.
Note: This is to identify different server connected not for databases.

  • Dynamic change in the query name based on user input

    Hi Gurus,
In a scenario, country appears as a user input variable. When the user specifies his country, the same query displays <b>Business trends</b>' data pertaining to his own country and rest of the world(international) in two tables. The reports are developed using Web application designer.
Can the name(description) of the query be changed  so that the user input value for country gets dynamically reflected in the query name like <b>Business trends:Selected country vs International</b>?
    Regards,
    Balaji

    Hi Bala,
ya this can be done by text variables. create a text variable( replacement path on the country infoobject) by going to the query properties on the description.
if the user enters country value then it will be displaed on the description of the query .
    assign points if useful .

  • SAP QUERY - Name of field selection change

Hello, something strange is happening when I change the title of a query.
The name of the first selection field stay with that name.
    Do you know why?
    Thanks

    Sorry....
The behavior is that: in SQ01, if I change the title of query, save and execute the query,  the first selection field stays with the name of the title.
    Ex:
Also if I go to change the name of the selection fields, save and execute the query the title of the query stays with that name...

  • How to change Query Description/Technical name of a query

<i><b>Hi</b></i> I have couple of questions with Query name changing.
<b>1)Is it possible to change the Technical name of a query?
    If Yes how?
2)I could change the description of a query but when the same query is saved in a role how to change its description?</b>
    <i><b>Thanks
    Ajay</b></i>

    hi,
open your query in query designer and use button 'save as' then you can change name description.
Remember that when you change technical name it will be completely new query and you will have to add it to your role.

  • External hard drive accidnetal name changed query

Soem time ago I noticed my permenently plugged in ext. HD name had changed. It was called something like 'Photos and Video', it's now called '**'. As in two stars. Maybe the cat walked over the keybord, it certainly wasn't an intentional change. That was a couple of months ago and all still works fine, haven't had a problem accessing my iPhoto libraries stored on there. My imovie projects are a bit dodgy though - the video clips are all stored on ext. drive). I can still kind of access them, but if I play a project I only hear the sound, unless I go to full screen and then I can see visuals as well. So looks like I've lost the ability to edit any projects created before the name change, (I have about 25 projects). I've only done one iMovie project since the name change, and won't need that any more.
But it's time to do a backup of the ExHD, and I use SuperDuper which does incremental back ups. Of course now the drive has a different name I don't think it will be able to do an incremental back up, will probably have to start afresh and do a completely new back up.
    So, my questions are:
Should I change the name of the ext. drive to what it used to be (I think I can remember the name)? Then I think I will be able to do the incremental back up.
Will this then sort out the iMovie problem?
Or, will this throw up other problems, ie. I've been putting photos into iPhoto libraries on the HD whilst it's had it's new name and don't want to lose any of those.
Anyone who can throw a light on this I would be grateful.
    Cheers!

Definitely change the name. The asterisk is actually a wild card character, so it isn't a good idea to leave them there. There shouldn't be any problems with changing the name.

    Hi Nithya,
You can get the technical name by selecting the role in the portal where the report is enclosed you will generally find the report in description then identify the report you are looking then double click on that you will get a window pop-up in that you will have details tab there click on the details the your Query technical name will be displayed.
EX : zqry_w001 Then replace W with Q and seach in analyser or Designer.

  • AD - 'Change First Name' process task is rejected by default - OIM 11.1.2

    Hi All,
I wanted modification to be auto provisioned to AD account when user attribute is changed.
For this created 'Change First Name' process task and made entry in "Lookup.USR_PROCESS_TRIGGERS" lookup def.
I followed the link Enabling update for provisioned user in OIM11g
When I changed first name of a user from identity console, 'Change First Name' process task is assigned to XELSYSADM. But the status of the process task is Rejected. Also, the changed 'First Name' value is not updated in the process form of the user. Hence the change is not reflected into AD.
Please tell me why the status is Rejected and changes are not reflecting.
Also, Please provide the solution to auto provision the modifications into AD.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Thanks much kevin,
    One more query.....
In my case when 'city' attribute is changed its invoking 'Change city' which inturn invokes 'City updated' process. Now when city is updated I need to updated 'Organization Name' in AD process form and make it reflect in AD.
For this, I created 'Change Org Unit' process task which will populate 'Organization Name' field in process form, so inturn it will invoke 'Organization name updated' process task.
I made 'Change Org Unit' process task as dependent task for 'Change city', so once the 'Change City' process task status is 'C', it will invoke 'Change Org unit' process task.
But, 'Change Org unit' process task is not being invoked.
Could you pls provide me solution.
    Thanks in advance...

  • Problems in creation of workbook using Change query local view.

    Hi Experts,
I have created a Multiprovider by using union of two infocubes and created a Query based on Multiprovider.  I want to restrict one infocube in Change Query local view for creating new workbooks.  In Query global view we drag and drop the Infocube under Filters, but in the Query local view Filter panel is in disable mode. (My requirement is to create the workbooks using change query local view only)
How can I restrict the one Infocube values in the workbooks by using Change query local view?
    Thanks in advance.
    Venkat.

    Hi Venkat Prasad
As you told that the query is on multi provider and the view is not allowing to declare/define filter value
Just drag the infoprovider info object avilable under packet dimension to rows and right click on it restrict by selecting the name of the info provider when u right click it will show you the option of restrict once u click on it,it will takes to u a pop up where you can able to see the name of info providers and you specify according to it and finally in the display of results if you dont want to to display the info provider name then just right click on the 0infoprovider object under rows go to properties then choose hide option under display.
    Hope its clear a little..!
