Character engoding during RFC module call

Hi all!
I have FunctionalModule which calls remote FM and pass string to it. In remote FM I can't see proper symbols but seems encoding problem. I pass char10 variable. Importing variable in remote FM is char10 as well.
Any thoughts?
Seems problem is with casting char and integer. I moved integer to char-like variable before passing it to remote FM

yes. it is ok.
I have already said - it is the problem with concatenating integer and char and passing as a char. integer seems coming in HEX format...

  • RFC error text: timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV'

    I am having this error pop up very frequently on some new SAP systems.  This will randomly happen and keep us from being able to release transports and import them in STMS.  I receive the following error:
    There was an attempt to start the transport control program tp using the local RFC interface.
    An error occurred here.
    Error code: 4
    RFC error text: timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV'
    - When I check the Transport Tool (STMS: import queue> check> transport tool) I get the following information:
    timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV' : cmRc=20 thRc=456#Time
    out during connection setup (check that partner exists
    - When checking the TP System Log I receive the same error.  The RSTPTEST report does not give any additional information.  SM21 shows a warning and an error:
    Warning:

    All of these errors are only pointing to a time out.  I cannot figure out why this is happening.  I checked the TMS RFC connection in SM59 and they are fine.  I have been able to work around this issue in 2 different ways.  First, I can delete the files in the "\trans\tmp" directory on the server.  Sometimes this resolves the error.  Else I have to restart the system.
    I need to understand where this issue is coming from and how to resolve it.  It is becoming more and more frequent.  Thank you for your help!

    Hi,
    i have had similar issues during this week. After looking for a solution everywhere i found out that i didn't set up the FQDN on this system.
    Symptoms were:
    se38 > RSTPTEST timed out sometimes(not always)
    sm59 > TCP/IP connections > CALLTP_WindowsNT > test connections timed out sometimes (again, not always)
    STMS Overview > Systems: I was not always able to distribute and activate configuration from the Domain controller via Extras > Distribute and Activate Configuration (it died on the mentioned system)
    Transports failed mostly with the same error.
    The error log was somewhere deep in ST11. It could not resolve our FQDN.
    The solution, for me, was to add our FQDN to the WINDIR\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file.
    We upgraded the kernel as well (from 7.20 patch 046 to most current) but this didn't help.
    The FQDN is a concatenation of computer name and dns suffix of the network (if you have none, you can add one via rightclick on the used network adapter>ipv4>properties>Advanced>DNS tab, so in the end the host file looked like
    127.0.0.1   localhost   computer-name.ourSuffix.com
    After this line has been added, the error stopped and the transports work again.
    I hope it helps. Good luck.

    Hi,
    Probably because of timeout, it is unable to execute the request ..so it is aborted.
    btw, is it a synchronous call ? what is the message size ? the given data to RFC is correct and valid structure ? check the mapping .for this use the data from SXMB_MONI and test it
    Check this blog for timeout errors-

  • ABAP Dump due to RFC Function module call in another thread

    Hi,
    I am facing some problem since yesterday. In one of my executable program I am calling a RFC fm as below mentioned
    REPORT ZREPORT.
    CALL FUNCTION 'Z_XXXXXXXXX'
          STARTING NEW TASK L_NAME
          DESTINATION IN GROUP 'TASK'
          PERFORMING RETURN_INFO ON END OF TASK
          EXPORTING
            P_exp1       = l_emp
          TABLES
            R_VBELN      = r_it_vbeln
          EXCEPTIONS
            NO_DATA_TO_PROCESS = 1
            OTHERS             = 2.
    wait until v_task = 1.
    update ztable.
    Due to some data inconsistence one of the SAP function
    module which I am calling in my function module Z_XXXXXXXXX
    is generating dump with message type X. Since there is data inconsistence it is generating dump that's OK.
    But the problem i am getting is, report ZREPORT is generating dump at WAIT statement saying illegal statement even though I am calling that function module
    Z_XXXXXXXXX as a separate new task.
    Can somebody help me.
    Thanks,
    Amara.

    hi, Amara
    I agree with Rich said, and do a simulate test in my server, here is the analysis.
    Assume we have a RFC, like this:
    FUNCTION ZGZL_DUMPTEST.
    *"*"Local interface:
    *"  EXPORTING
    *"     VALUE(OUT) TYPE  I
    *"  EXCEPTIONS
    *"      CONVERT_FAIL
      data:a  type  i.
      a = 'A'.
    ENDFUNCTION.
    And call this RFC like you way:
    REPORT ZGZL_DUMPTEST .
    DATA:
      SEMAPHORE(1) VALUE SPACE,
      LC_OUT       TYPE  I.
    CALL FUNCTION 'ZGZL_DUMPTEST'
    STARTING NEW TASK 'DUMP'
    PERFORMING RETURN_INFO ON END OF TASK.
    WAIT UNTIL SEMAPHORE = 'X'.
    WRITE: 'OVER'.
    FORM RETURN_INFO USING TASKNAME.
      RECEIVE RESULTS FROM FUNCTION 'ZGZL_DUMPTEST'
              IMPORTING  OUT = LC_OUT.
      SEMAPHORE = 'X'.
    ENDFORM.                    " RETURN_INFO
    if we run the RFC in se37 directly, obviously it will occur a rumtime error CONVT_NO_NUMBER, and dump.
    But if we run the above application to call the RFC, we will get a different runtime error CALL_FUNCTION_REMOTE_ERROR.
    Error Analysis in ST22 like this:
    An error occurred when executing a REMOTE FUNCTION CALL.
    It was logged under the name "CONVT_NO_NUMBER"
    on the called page.
    I think that means the application receive the runtime error from RFC when call  <b>RECEIVE RESULTS</b>.
    In normal CALL FUNCTION, the external application will accept the rumetime error throw from FM, that's correct, because it let the caller can handle these runtime errors.
    In you case, you said RFC run in a new task, yes, that's true, so you can call the RFC like this:
    CALL FUNCTION 'ZGZL_DUMPTEST'
    STARTING NEW TASK 'DUMP'
    PERFORMING RETURN_INFO ON END OF TASK.
    WAIT UNTIL SEMAPHORE = 'X'.
    WRITE: 'OVER'.
    FORM RETURN_INFO USING TASKNAME.
      SEMAPHORE = 'X'.
    ENDFORM.                    " RETURN_INFO
    It will goes well, no dump. Why? because we don't use RECEIVE RESULT. RECEIVE RESULT will bring the result from FM, also bring the runtime error from FM.
    So if you want to call the FM and receive the result, handle the runtime error in FM inside at first.
    like this:
      CATCH SYSTEM-EXCEPTIONS CONVT_NO_NUMBER = 1.
        a = 'A'.
      ENDCATCH.
      IF SY-SUBRC = 1.
        RAISE CONVERT_FAIL.
      ENDIF.
    And then you call FM like this:
    CALL FUNCTION 'ZGZL_DUMPTEST'
    STARTING NEW TASK 'DUMP'
    PERFORMING RETURN_INFO ON END OF TASK.
    WAIT UNTIL SEMAPHORE = 'X'.
    WRITE: 'OVER'.
    FORM RETURN_INFO USING TASKNAME.
      RECEIVE RESULTS FROM FUNCTION 'ZGZL_DUMPTEST'
              IMPORTING  OUT = LC_OUT
              EXCEPTIONS CONVERT_FAIL = 1.
      SEMAPHORE = 'X'.
    ENDFORM.                    " RETURN_INFO
    That's will be ok for your scenario.
    Hope my reply is useful.
    thanks

    We experienced this error while trying to carry out transport into the Production Server- RFC error:timeout during allocate/CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV'#.
    I have checked connection tests,RFC, they look fine.
    Anyone experienced this before?

  • Rfc function module call error

    Hi Abaper,
    I'm doing upgrade from 4.7 to ecc 6.0 currently and encounter problem in one of the rfc function module that we used. I've tested the connection to destination using sm59 and the connection is successful.
    As an information, in the rfc setting, the target system is not Unicode system.
    When I test using se37 and put the rfc destination in my function module call, I always encountered system_error exception. There's no issue with this rfc call before in 4.7 system.
    Please help me on this. Thank you.
    Edited by: Abraham Bukit on Sep 3, 2008 2:36 AM

    Hi,
    I had the same issue in the past and solved it in the following way.
    If the destination system is not Unicode please try to set the password for the communication user set in SM59 using only upper-case characters and taking into account that the password shouldn't be longer than 8 characters.
    Hope this will help.

    Message no. TP608 Diagnosis
    There was an attempt to start the transport control program tp using the local RFC interface. An error occurred here.
      Error code: 4
      RFC error text: timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV'
    Meaning of the error codes:
      03  RFC system failure
      04  RFC communication failure
    System Response
    The function terminates. Details about the error can be found in the trace file of the Gateway Monitor (SMGW).
    some of the posts on forum suggested i should try from same domain i tried but in vain, then i updated the SAP kernel from 7.01 sp 14 to sp 55. but i am still facing the problem.
    i created this system recently using system copy based upon export image of a system (ABAP stack ) but using ABAP+Java during export process (by mistake). then we tried to build system using import (ABAP stack only i know its weird but its up and running). I assume we should have builf export imgae using ABAP method but some how due to lack of time we proceeded this way.
    The main problem i see is TP RFC . The output from prgram RSTPTEST is as below
    everythign is fine except below entries
    under RFC destination
    EFC ping - timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV' : cmRc=20 thRc=456#Time out during connection setup (check  that partner exists
    under TP call
    RFC link and Offline Call shws me the same error as RFC ping. and there is no output from tp version and DB connect.
    Can anybody please help me on the same.

  • MDX Error: timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV' (NW 7.0)

    Hello everyone,
    while trying to execute an MDX Statement on NW 7s SAP BI i ran into the "timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV'" error.
    I searched these forums for a solution an found SAP Note 1032461.
    The Problem is: it only applys to older versions of the NetWeaver. NW 7 seems to have a new RFC library.
    Is there another solution for this problem in NW 7?

    I found the solution.
    The note was right, but i used the wrong .dll.

    2. While Importing TRs into QAS, at the time of refreshing queue/adjusting import queue, it pops-up error  " timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV' .But after repeating same process, TRs were impoted successfully.
    We had performed the following in DEV & QAs:
    1. Upgraded kernel to patch level 137.
    2. After that replaced TP & R3trans with latest patch levels 169.
    3. Re-configured STMS
    4. Restarted Server.

    what is the solution for this problem? I have the same problem. I get sy-subrc = 1 after CALL FUNCTION 'FPCOMP_JOB_OPEN'.
    If I look more in detail I see that "Perform check_job_open" is creating the problem:
    FORM check_job_open.
      IF fpstat-is_opened = c_true.  (--> exactly here is the problem. This condition is true so the program is terminated.)
        PERFORM reset_status.
        MESSAGE ID 'FPRUNX' TYPE 'E' NUMBER '101' RAISING usage_error.
      ENDIF.
      fpstat-is_opened  = c_true.
      fpstat-is_started = c_false.
    ENDFORM.
    Does somebody know why my job is open and what is the solution to have the job closed at the beginning of my processing?
    Thanks in advance.

    now my first question is what is the difference between function modules calling normally and in the above said way
    and the second question is
    under tables parameter i have four internal tables defined where as while calling the same function module using recive results i have three internal tables. is this correct?
    i am asking this because i am getting an error message while using this funciton module
    please do not give generic answers, all the helpful answers will get a def reward

    Call function starting new task is used to make Asynchronus RFC Call. In this case your function module will be called in a NEW SESSION and it will exceute independently from the Main program which is calling the FM. Also, the main program will continue its own processing and it will not wait for the RFC FM to complete.
    Its not mandatory to have all the TABLES parameters in the RETURN Perform (..Receive results from ...)

  • How to identify order of RFC'S calling in a bussiness package component

    Hi,
    My problem is to find out order of rfc's calling for bussiness package(ESS) component.......................i can't proceed to do modifications without  knowing about order of rfc'c calling...............
    Regards,
    Rajesh

    Hi Rajesh,
    To identify the order of RFC's calling in your application, you have look into CcAppl Component in ess/lea DC.
    loadConfiguration() method in CcAppl performs the following actions
    •     Initializes member variables (especially the VACs and the perspectives)
    •     Defines the navigation graph
    •     Creates a list of all perspectives
    In case of ess/lea,  first perspective is perspCreateEdit.
    Perspective perspCreateEdit = new Perspective(PERSP_CREATE_EDIT_NAME,     Perspective.LAYOUT_ROW,     new VAC[] { vacEdit, vacTeamView });
    VAC vacEdit =      new VAC(DC_NAME, VAC_FORMEDIT_PACKAGE);
    public final static String VAC_FORMEDIT_PACKAGE =
              PACKAGE_PREFIX + "form.edit.VcFormEdit";
    It means the first view is from VcFormEdit component, ie EditView.
    In Edit view, <b>Pt_Arq_Request_Prepare</b>, <b>Pt_Arq_Application_Create</b>, <b>Pt_Arq_Search_Next_Processor</b> Function modules are calling to fill types of leave, Approver name,.....
    This is the way to identify the order of calling function modules in application.

  • How to handle JCO Exceptions at JCO (RFC) function call

    Hello Forum,
    I am implementing an JCO Server scenario.
    I use dynamic repositories like Example7.java from the JCO documentation.
    Example7 throws an JCO.AbapException if anything went wrong, e.g. the function is not implemented.
    How to react on this AbapException?
    The examples in SAP Help documentation only catch
    SYSTEM_FAILURE and COMMUNICATION_FAILURE.
    All other RFC modules I have seen which declare the function modules to be used by dynamic JCO repositories (like Example7.java) do not define any other Exception parameters.
    But these two are only thrown and caught when something with communication went completely wrong, e.g. RFC not found.
    But when RFC can be reached and the JCO Server is executing the Java method, an AbapException could be thrown on error. How to react on this?
    In my implementation based on the examples I always get a ABAP dump. The dump says:
    Exception named  without message text. Why that name?
    How to handle this type of exception in order to avoid the dump?
    Can anyone post an example please?
    Thanks,
    Carsten

    Hi Micky,
    thanks for your quick response.
    If so, to throw JCO.AbapException on JCO Server side is not correct?
    What I do is throwing the JCO.AbapException (like in the JCO Example 7).
    At the RFC call in APAB I handle both exceptions SYSTEM_FAILURE and COMMUNICATION_FAILURE like
    CALL FUNCTION 'MY_JCO_FUNCTION_MODULE'
        DESTINATION JCO_DEST
        <...>
        EXCEPTIONS
          SYSTEM_FAILURE        = 1  MESSAGE RFC_MESS
          COMMUNICATION_FAILURE = 2  MESSAGE RFC_MESS.
    This works as far something with RFC is wrong, e.g. Server can not find the function or Server not reachable.
    But the AbapException thrown by the JCO Server (Java) is not handled that way. Why?
    Sorry if this is the wrong forum but I tried posting in Netweaver integration and got no answer for 1 week and because it's ABAP related I thought the topic suites here.
