Characteristic Change in InfoCube?

Hi,
When there is a change in a characteristic, how can it be updated into infocube (no transactional cube)?
What I'm currently doing as a workaround to this problem is, in the transformation routine of the infocube: reading the keyfigure value for the existing characteristic combination based on certain keyfield, creating a negative image and add it to the infocube. so it nullifies the existing combination. and then I'm adding fresh data with the changed characteristic value into the infocube.
Is it advisable to do so? Then what is the easier solution/workaround? Could anyone help me in this regard?

By intruducing ODS how is it possible to update infocube the changed characteristic value? My assumption was ods helps only calculating the delta value by comparing the before and after images, so that the delta can be updated in infocube. But how actually it works for characteristics? does it updates the infocube with new characteristic or just introduces a new row in the infocube?
I'm yet to evaluate the loop back techniques proposed.

CRM 5.0 Webclient - Characteristic Change Pointers

Hi Gurus
On ERP we have site values which have characteristic data attached.
On a daily basis from ERP we run transaction BD21 with Message Type "CLFMAS" which picks up changed characteristic data and creates Idocs which are then sent to CRM and processed via an XI process.
We've picked a scenario where it looks as if New Sites created do not have their characteristic data sent in this process.
If we then make a change to the characteristic data for the new site and then run BD21, the data is picked up without issue.
Would anyone know if this is due to the fact that it is seen as a new record and not a changed record that the new characteristic data is not picked up for transer?
Maximum points for the right answer.
Any links to documentation on this subject would also be rewarded

Prof Analysis characteristic changes KEA5 Customer Master to Sales Document

hello gurus
I need some help with this pa configuration change. our office in india wants to amend the 2 characterictics in bold in pa transaction kea5. currently they look at origin table - customer master sales data. charac details below No other changes will be made

bzirk     sales district     sistrict     char     6     knvv     bzirk
vkbur     sales office     sales sff.     char     4     knvv     vkbur
business want to change these two characteristics from knvv to pick up the details from sales document order - table vbak for sales office and vbkd for sales district, so it matches with their mcsi. please note a number of changes are required on bw. But I am only concerned about pa changes, my colleagues will pick up bw changes.
please can I get some help with this configuration task, as I've never configured pa - It appears to be more complexed than regular fico config. I believe it is a fairly small change via transaction kea5, is that correct
please kindly provide the following information - 5 points below
1. intend on deleting these two characteristics linked to knvv and then linking to vbak and vbkd respectively.
2. the characteristice for vbak and vbkd already exist in config kea5, so I don't believe I need to recreate anything new, just pull in the fields, and link to the relevant characteristics.
3. please can you confirm if I only need to amend kea5 to configure the above scenario? Or are there any other tables/areas in spro I need to amend.
4. please can you provide me with step by step details on what I need to do to configure this new characteristic and scenario correctly.
5. finally please can you provide me details of what testing I need to do to test this change.

Thanks very much for your feedback. I have carried out your configuration via KEDR, and created the derivation rule. Is it really as straight forward and I dare not say that easy, to create a new characteristic value.
Is there absolutely no additional configuration required via kea0 - Maintain Operating Concern or kea5 maintain characteristic values. I agree we have added this derivation rule and I can to some extent understand what we've done, but in kea5 and kea0, the old characteristic value and fields are still there - as detailed below. So it is still mapping to the old characteristic values, I can only assume this derivation rule overwrites what is in kae5 and kae0, is that correct.

How to ... implement characteristic validation forbidden infocube update?

I need implement into SEM-BPS a validation so that the update of certain combination of characteristic be forbidden.
I build up and exit function.It gives an error message when this combination of characteristic be done, but then if the user push save button the information is update into the infocube.
Someone can help me? how to ...implement this validation forbidden the update into the infocube?

Value for a characteristic changed with an other value in Query Design

I want to change the value for a characteristic (Type) in Query Design (not the description, the value).
In my cube I have these values:
Customer *** Type
22222********SmallCorp
22223********SmallCorp
22224********MedCorp
The report should like:
Customer *** Type
22222********LEGALENTITIES
22223********LEGALENTITIES
22224********LEGALENTITIES
Or only the "SmallCorp" value should be changed in LEGALENTITIES.
How to do that?

You can write an exit to replace Type SmallCorp to LEGALENTITIES.
But this will reflect in other queries too....
Or If change in modelling is still an option, you can add one more Type 2 in the cube and update in the transformation with Constant = LEGALENTITIES. Use the Type 2 in the queries.

Characteristic - Change Overview

I created one charatceristic using t-code CT04. The same is included in class type 300 using t-code CL02. Again this characteristic is classified in one more class (Class Type 012) by another user. This is done using t-code CT04 --> Menu Goto --> Classification. Where can I get the information which user classified this characteristic in class type 012 and when it is done.

Dear for this You can activate either change documents or engineering change management in Customizing for Classification.
If you activate change documents, every change that you make to classification data is logged in a change document. You can use change documents to find out when the classification of an object was changed. You can no longer display the classification as it was.

Hi,
1. You need to add few fields to your ODS - you can do it as long as added fields are not key fields.
2. So you add the fields - now these fields are empty & you need to populate these with some history data, which I believe resides in Source system, so question is how to populate these?
3. delete the ODS data, delete the intialization (in infopackage- need to do it before reintitalizing) & do the intialization again.. (you also need to delete date of the connected cubes...be careful that you delete req of this ODS only not the other in case connceted with this cube) but there are 3 million records so my advice would be do the intital without data & take history data by putting in some selection paratmeter in Infopackage.
<b>And to the Cube --> take these to cube as well.</b>
note. i think you can add new char and create new dimension and assign new char to the new dimension, but historical data for that char won't exist

How to add in the new characteristic for a infocube in RSECADMIN

The authorization relevant characteristics for cube Material stock/Movement are only (I click the InfoCube authorization in the RSECADMIN - it only show the below 5):
1. 0COMP_CODE
2. 0PLANT
3. 0STOR_LOC
4. ZCUSTOMER
5. 0TCAKYFNM
But I want to control by the material group as well (0MATL_GROUP). Can any one tell me how to do? The material group is already an authorization relevant characteristics.
I try to add in all the 6 characterisctics (including the material group) in the RSECADMIN maintenance. But there is still no checking at all on the material groups. It only checked the above 5, not checking on material group.

PR Release Strategy Characteristic Changes

I created several characteristics for a purchase req. release strategy. I added an incorrect value and then deleted it on one of the characteristics. Is there anything else that needs to be done to ensure that value is really deleted?
I'm receiveing an error when I ALE that I have documents that won't post for the error:
REQ_PURCH_ORG : Value "Structure Exists " not found
Structure exists is not a value associated with this characteristic.

Values: Plant (WERKS)& Itemvalue (GSWRT) & Now I created (GFWRT) For another class for Overall PR release.
In my PR Release strategy with 2 levels I have these below things:
Rel Groups : 1 Group with name AA
Rel Codes: For AA is A1, For another AA is A2.
Rel Indicator: nothing is selected, am not sure what to do in this step.
Rel Strategy : For AA is S1, For another AA is S2.
I created class Z_GFWRT but am not sure which group I should assign it AA or I have to create another new group for Overall release.
After I checked the release strategy the system is giving me this below message.
No release group exists
Message no. ME_RELCHK014
Please can you walkme through in this process. This is first time I am creating a PR Release.

How to change an characteristic to an navigation attribute?

Hello everyone!!
Does anybody knows how to change a characteristic that is on a POS to an attribute navigation of another characteristic that is in the same POS without deactivating it?
An infocube has the same POS characteristics. So, if I do this modification, the infocube will be automatically chaged? I think not, but I want to avoid manually changing almost everything.

Sorry if I took so long to answer.
Unfortunately you will have do deactivate the POS and of course change all the infocubes, infosources, etc, that are involved with this change. If you deactivate your POS, all the CVC´s are eliminated, so it will be better if you backup all the data in your live cache in an backup infocube.
When you change the characteristic to an navigation attribute and also change the infocube, the data in the infocube will adjust automatically. You will have to create the CVC´s again with the new "format". But in the infocube, it won´t be necessary.

Delta data changes are not reflecting from ODS to another infocube

ODS1 --->Infocube1 - Field1,field2,field3
ODS2 -
> Infocube 2 -
Field 2-1,2-2,2-3,field2-4
Both datasource information are totally different.
Delta changes are captured in the field3 in ODS1 and Infocube 1 also.
Field3 and Field 2-3 is the same field .Infocube 2 - I have included infoobject and populating the value from ODS1-Field3.
The question is
Whenever I capture the changes from ODS1-field3 -the similar changes also needs to be updated here in infocube2 -field2- 3.
Start routine : I have created code like ,
SELECT field1 field2 field3
INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE IT_field
FROM /BIC/aods1.
Update rule routine : Select the field2-3 in the characteristic- routine
READ TABLE IT_field INTO LS_field
WITH TABLE KEY
field1 = COMM_STRUCTURE-field2-1
Field 2 = COMM_STRUCTURE-field2-2.
Result = LS_field -field2-3.
If I load the full load to infocube 2 -no problem.
Is their any other way Can I capture the transactional data changes in infocube 2.

There is no problem from ODS1 --->Infocube1 - Delta is working properly.
My question is ,
ODS1 has a field 3. Whenever new changes happen for this field3 - I have to capture the simialr changes in the Infocube 2 and the fieldis 2-3.
field3 and field 2-3 is the same field infoobject .
Whenever the changes occurs inthe tranasation - ODS1-field 3 will capture the changes. How can I capture the similar changes in Infocube 2 and the field 2-3.

7.0: Changing InfoCube: Empty in DEV, filled in PRD

what happens in 7.0 when you change the structure (dimensions) of an empty InfoCube, which is empty in the development environment but filled in QA and production?
Will the transport request fail? Will the remodelling tool be applied in the background? Are there any limitations to consider? Will historic data be correctly aligned?

--> Only 2 possibilities. Changes to infocube effects in QA or not(transport fails).
P.S: Why cant you try modify cube contains data(at least few records) in DEV and test for clear understanding..??

Go to RSA1 transaction and then select infotypes to go to the cube/ods.
From RSA1, you can check also the Infoobjects (0ACTIONTYPE and the others).
To modify the queries use transaction RRMX.

Display alternate unit of measure as a characteristic

Hello,
I have successfully implemented the 'How to ... Report Data in Alternate Units of Measure' using the business content infocube 0IC_C03, Material Stocks/Movements.
The infocube currently contains only base unit of measure.
In the queries I am displaying key figures in base unit and alternate unit of measure.
My requirement is to subtotal by alternate unit of measure. Is this possible? If I add 0BASE_UOM to the query this has no affect on the alternate unit of measure.
Can I add an alternate unit of measure characteristic to the infocube and populate it during query run time? Where would this configuration take place?
SAP_BW 3.1, content 3.3.

Go to Inforecord of that material with that vender on that plant.
Change Inforecord(me12)...here in general data...change the order unit.
system will give the conversion factor as u defined in material master.
