Characteristics of Material.

Hi,
Our requirment is to find the characteristics of the Material.The  BAPI_OBJCL_GETCLASSES is used to find out the same. But due to performance Issue we need to remove this BAPI and now we are fetching the chara using Database Tables(KLAH,KSML,CABN,KSSK,AUSP).Our requirnment is to get values ATWRT(Characteristic Value) and ATWTB (Characteristic value description) .We are able to get only ATWRT value from AUSP table by using the key ATINN.But we are not able to find out Value ATWTB.Could you please suggest how to find out this value together?
We can find this field in the table CAWNT having Primary Key ATINN,but we are getting no of records. As there is no Material Key we are facing problem to get unique no.

    In material master you can assign the class in the classification view, it will provide the characteristics, that will flow when you do the receipt there you can enter the values or Create Batch-MSC1n and Change batch MSC2n, you can enter the characteristics values,,
    I dont have clue why you are trying to enter the values in material master,,,
    In CL02- Create the class and assign the characteristics (Create the Charac T code CT04)

  • Problem in changing characteristics of material while sales order creation

    Hello,
    My requirement is to change the characteristics of the material in a sales order before the sales order is saved.
    I tried using 'BAPI_OBJCL_CHANGE' but it aint working. In the debugging mode it is found that the program is searching for entries in KSSK table which are not found. The object key passed to the BAPI is a combination of sales order number and the item number and the object table is VBPS.
    Is there any other way by which I can change the characteristics before the sales order is saved?

  • How to infer values in characteristics of material

    Hi Experts
    I am trying to infer a characteristic (manufacturer name) based on another characterisitc (manufacturer number) for material master. I have done the following steps:
    -created the characteristic (single value, Additional Value ticked, Not Ready for Input ticked)
    -created the function (with manufacturer number as input parameter)
    -created the function module for the above function
    -created the dependency (type Procedure)
    -assigned my dependency to the characteristics
    -added the charateristics to a class
    All these above objects are in Release/ active status.
    In the dependency editor, I have put the following code to call my function/ function module Z_MFRNR_NAME
    FUNCTION Z_MFRNR_NAME                
    (ZZ_MFRNR = $ROOT.ZZ_MFRNR,          
    ZZ_MFRNR_NAME = $SELF.ZZ_MFRNR_NAME).
    In the function module, I am using CUOV_GET_FUNCTION_ARGUMENT (to get manufacturer number from table QUERY) and CUOV_SET_FUNCTION_ARGUMENT (to set manufacturer name in table MATCH).
    The problem is that when I assign my class to a material in MM01/MM02, the function module is not called (I have a BREAK-POINT) hence the manufacturer name is not populated in the characteristic.
    If I change the characteristic manufacturer name to 'Ready for Input' and try to enter a value manually, I hit my break-point but the manufacturer name returned by the function module is still not populated on the characteristic and I get a message 'Inconsistent values inferred for characteristic Mfr Name'. I checked the details of this message and it tells me that the value I entered manually and the value returned by the function module are incompatible with each other. This indicates that the function module is working fine as it is returning the manufacturer name.
    Can someone please explain:
    1. Why is the function module not called in the first place when the class is assigned to a material ie when there is no manuall entry to the characterirstic?
    2. When there is manual entry and the function module is called, why doesnt the characteristic pick the value retured by the function module?
    Am I missing something here.

    Found the problem, I was assigning my dependency to the wrong characteristic. It should have been assigned to the Manufacturer number (inferring characteristic) rather than the Manufacturer name (inferred characteristic).

    You can generate this datasources using TCODE CTBW, You can refer to this note (306046), which xplains the same, I have done that to an extent but data is not flowing in my main DS and I need to understand the mapping of the same in InfoSource structure.

    My requirement is to update the characteristics of the material of Inquiry line item (VA11/VA12/VA13). I searched the forum but the the only answer i found was using BAPI - BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE. But this is not updating the Inquiry Document even after using the BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT.
    Please can anyone let me know how I can update the characteristics in the Inquiry Document?

    Thanks for your reply, I have checked up the material attributes it does not flow there and I was referrring to one note where you can enhance your datasource using CTBW to capture this characteritsics so I did enhance 0MATERIAL_ATTR, the other attributes are listed as an TEXT DataSource and If I check them using RSA3 data gets populated accordingly but the enhanced datasource 0MATERIAL_ATTR which become 1CL_MAT001 does not return any records shows zero records, I am looking for charcterictics which have been mapped using an Variant Configurator and as far as the note suggests it has to be done thru CTBW to capture this, I have done that but success still eludes me,
    Experts Plz help on this as I am on pressure to complete this.

    but this function don't creates characteristics into my material master...
    Have I other way to do this?

    :(..  I want create a Characteristic  value assignment into a client -specific configuration(Configure variant)
    .. i can't use this FM because it's required a batch

    Table AUSP will have the values for material. Enter material number for field OBJEK and display the data.
    Other Fields:
    Class Type - KLART
    Characteristic Value - ATWRT

    Purchasing document forms are usually customized as per requirement of the client through ABAP. So your requirement can be fulfilled throgh ammendments in the said form through help of ABAPer. You need to notify them where the data needs to appear on the form and from which table the data is pulled from.

    Hi, How to see the characteristics in process order screen which are assigned in material master classification view. say, created a material and assigned some characteristics in classsification view. for the same material created a process order. like to see those characteristics in process order. is it possible. please advise.

    to see this characteristic in the process orden you should go to Header >> CO Classification. If you want to add a characteristic, this should be added to SAP_KKR_CLASS. Characteristics for material  (001) are not the same than those for CO Classification (013), so you should develop some special report (we did some special developmet for the printing of order forms )

    I have say 5 characteristics for material batch setup. I wanted to list of out all the batches (say materials) based on characteristics. Is there any standard transaction available for this. Right now I am using BMBC but not meeting my requirement.
    Ex: I have color as one of the characteristics for my batch. I want to list of all materials with batch numbers whose color is red.
