Characteristics to be input ready in column like keyfigure

Hi,
I'm working on IP and the requirement is that, user wants to enter free text per line item in Excel based layouts.
I have created  an input ready query on an Aggregation level and set the key figure as Input ready.
Now  i want the characteristic  "free-text"  to be input ready as in case of Key-figure so that i can enter text data per line item.
For new row i'm able to enter values for "free-text" ; but it should be column-wise rather than row wise
Characteristics : Material, Plant ,Comp Code, Material-Grp  free-text
Keyfigure :         Net price
Thanks
pratyush

Hi,
for entering free text please use documents. They allow you e.g. to store comments.
If you want to enter the free text in a certain characteristic this is called "Master Data Planning", because what you try is creating new master data. "Master Data Planning" is not supported. Nevertheless you may search this forum to find some interesting information about this topic.
So you see using documents (e.g. as comments) and Master Data Planning are two different things. Please check, what you want.
Hope this helps.

  • Input Ready Query does'nt work

    Hi Experts,
Thanks for your time  ..Input query does'nt allow input data through Web application...
Following steps that I have done
    1) Created a Real time cube.
    2) Created Aggregation level .
    3) Included all characteristics that are'nt required as Free characteristics in the plan query and placed material in Row and Amount in Column with restriction with version,Value type .
4)Had  Set the property for Planning "Start query in Change Mode" for the query.
    5) Set the 'Key Figure' Planning Property to "Input ready" for the Restricted Keyfigure in Column.
I dont know where I'm missing but cells are'nt for Input . I would appreciate if some one can help .
    Thanks n Regards
    Sri

    Hi,
You can check if that query is input ready in RSRT2 (or RSRT with display as html mode), but you cannot insert new rows there. To do that you have to use bex analyser or web.
check if you have at least one characteristic as lock relevant. Also you can find some notes about input query problems. Search by "new rows" or "new lines" in notes. I am sorry I don't have those note number right now to send you.
    I hope this helps

  • IP: input-ready query shows data in Load mode but not in Plan mode

    Hello experts,
we're currently experiencing a very strange issue regarding an input-ready query which consists of a single lead column (read from the cube) and an input-ready plan column. The issue is as follows:
When the cube is in Load mode the lead column shows its data perfectly. However, when switching to Plan mode the data is not shown.
The cube is indexed by a BIA which may be part of the problem.
We're on BW 7.00 SP 21. I've read that this may be related to the OLAP cache, but haven't been able to find any notes relevant for 7.00 SP 21.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
    Regards, Dirk

    Hi Dirk,
I think that the problem comes from the cache used in the plan buffer query. Delete the cache via RSRCACHE. The query name is
IC/!!1IC if you have a query on an aggregation level on an InfoCube IC
MPRO/!!1MPRO if you have a query on an aggregation level on a multiprovider MPRO or directly on the multiprovider MPRO
You might search for note using 'cache' and component pattern BW-BEX-OT*, e.g. 1408959, 1528191, 1560036.

  • Chars in columns for Input Ready query

    Hi
Hope every body is just doing fine. I am puzzled with following doubt when compare BPS layout builder to IP input ready report. Please help me to clear some smoke here.
We have a simple input ready query to enter some values in the key figure for given combination of characteristics for 12 fiscal year periods in the year.
BPS >>> In BPS manual planning layout we would have selected the Key figure and Fiscal Year Period in data column and profit center and Plan Year in Header and Other characteristics like GL account, cost center in lead column so that we can hide the Fiscal year period by restricting the values of key figure for particular fiscal year period value while creating columns in Data columns like Jan 07. etc
IP>>> So in IP, I have fiscal year period in aggregation level with all other chars and key figure. In input ready report, I have used the structure to pull the key figure and fiscal year period value to come up with column and not included the key figure in rows or columns of report but when I was executing the query system is automatically including the fiscal year period as free char. I am puzzled on how this is going to work. Is fiscal year period not populated automatically based on column.
Your inputs are highly appreciated with point.
    Thanks,
    Raj.

    Hi Raj,
Experiencing similar problems. Which GUI are you on ?

  • No new rows or columns because the axis is not input-ready - error

    hi,
can any one tell me how to solve this.
i am able to change the data but not able to add new rows or columns to the analysis item.
    i am getting following error
No new rows or columns because the axis is not input-ready
    how to solve this.
    please suggest me.
    i will assign points.

    Hello venkat,
robably the definition of rows and columns is to complicated for the system to read.
Do you want to add a new row or a new column?
how are the existing rows or columns defined?
It does work, if you have included only characteristics into row / column and you are using key or key+text to be shown in your query.

  • Input-Ready row with characteristic in column

    Hi,
I have several workbooks based on queries with the property of having an Input-Ready row (context of integrated planning).
These always worked fine, but after a bex upgrade only some of the queries continued to display the input-ready row at the bottom.
A reason why only sometimes it works, has been asked to SAP.
    SAP refers to:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/f234619e3c4c5de10000000a155369/frameset.htm
    which says:
You cannot use characteristics in the columns and can use one structure only.
My queries mostly contain 0fiscper and 0amount in the columns.
Following the above logic, the input-ready row never should appear since I display the amount over 12 months (=characteristic in column).
    BEx:
Bi AddOn 7.X (based on 7.10)
    Support Package 8, Patch 1
    additional info:
    - All queries were designed in 7.x.
    - Same result in BEx Analyzer without using Workbook.
    Question:
    - What could be the reason that in some cases the input-ready row still appears, and in others not?
    - Any suggestions for workaround?
    Thx in advance!
    Rgds, Sam

  • More than one column input-ready?

    Hi @all,
I made an input ready query and tested it with one column representing one month. After testing, I copied this input-ready 11 times and set the offset (to plan one year).
I don´t know why, but the other 11 columns are not ready input. So I decided to delete the offset on a column, so hat I had two identical columns - and both were ready for input while executing!?
Is this a normal behaviour: It is not possible to plan more than month in one input ready query while executing?
    Thanks in advance...

You would need to create a new variable for each column, remember, when you use offsets, it is still only calling the original variable 1 time, and add or subtracting via your offsets.
    Cheers!

  • No new rows or columns because the axis is not input-ready

    Hi Gurus,
I have a problem when I am modelling the Order and Revenue Planning.
In my model I have Base Unit and Currency as Unit characterstics.
When I take Currency as INR and Base Unit Multiple Values then I can create a new row in my planning layout.
If I take currecy also multiple values, system is throwing following message "No new rows or columns because the axis is not input-ready" and not allowing me to create new rows(rather it is not displaying the new rows). But Query is Input Ready.
Could any one suggest solution for this.....
    Waiting for your reply......
    Thanks and Regards,
    Arun.

    Hi Arun,
I know exactly what you are trying to do.  Don' t waste your time any further on it.   The story would have been different if the entire layout was on a single currency(header or filtered).
    For your problem....
First of all you cannot use 0AMOUNT.  As it will not allow you to seperate 0Currency from 0Amount as it is already defined in the 0Amount Infoobject. Even if you try to add 0Currency AGAIN as a "separate" characteristic in the row of Query.  So you will have to now provide 2 currency values to 0Currency(in the row) as well as 0Currency in the 0Amount (which you cannot select in Query Designer).  Because the system will still be looking for 0Currency value embedded to 0Amount.  The only way you can do is by using a Custom Key Figure with No Dim.  I mean, ZAmount with no Unit/Currency in the infoobject definition.
Let Currency be an attribute of Order.  Display this currency attribute in the row of the layout, just so the users know which currency they are going to enter values on.  It(currency) is only for informational purpose and not to think that the values entered initially by the users are stored along with the same currency.  And then after the user enters values on this ZAMOUNT, upon save use Fox behind the scene to copy this over to real "0Amount".  Fox should read the Order currency(attribute) and store the currency into along with the 0Amount(and 0currency).  All other Char stored by user should be copied as is in the Fox.
The same logic applies to 0Quantity(with unit).
Hope this solution works for you.  Let us know if this is possible.

  • Is it possible to create input ready query with free characteristics ?

    Hi All,
Is it possible to include characteristics restricted with variables in free charatceristics panel to make input ready query?
I am trying to create input ready query with above practice but unable to make query as input ready.
I have created input ready query on aggregation level. If I include characteristics restricted with variables in rows or filter then it is working fine. .ie. I am able to input entries at runtime of query.
Kindly help me out to find the solution as I have to include characteristics in free characteristics panel.

    Hi Tilak,
    Thanks for reply.
As per my knowledge, Every characteristics which is included at aggregation level should be included in either rows or filter level in query designer.
But as per my business requirement I have to include the characteristics restricted with variables( in default values only) in free characteristics. But the problem is if I do so the query runs in display mode not in input mode.
So kindly help me if you have any solution for above scenario.

  • Input ready query with free characteristics

    Hi All,
Is it possible to include characteristics restricted with variables in free charatceristics panel to make input ready query?

    Hi,
Any cell in an input query can only be input ready if it corresponds to only one value of each characteristic in the underlying aggregation level. If you have free characteristics in your input query, you will need to restrict them to single value at query runtime to make the query input-ready. Note that putting a characteristic in rows automatically restricts it to one value.

  • Issue with Input Ready Query in Integrated Planning.

    Hello Everyone,
I've been working on Integrated Planning for some time now. My company recently started using a new server for this work. I find that I am unable to make the queries "input ready". Though I edited the properties of the key figure to "accept user entered values" and chose the option to "start query in change mode", when I execute the query, I find that it the values for the Key Figure cannot be changed. I tried to search in the OSS for any note(s) regarding this issue, but was unable to come up with a solution. Is the problem related to the server or is there some other configuration that I should take care of? Additionally, I would also like to know if there is any method to debug such a problem. I would appreciate it if someone could help me out in this regard.
    Thanks,
    Jake.

    Hi,
    Please verify the following.
    1. Check if the underlying realtime cube is in "Planning Mode:Loading not allowed" state in rsa1
    2. If you have created an aggregation level, Check if the most detailed information is available at that Aggregation Level(i.e, include characteristics so that the record can be uniquely identified at that aggregation level).Best would be to include all characteristics and create a query first and ensure it works. Then remove unwanted charecteristics one by one, so that you can fix the issue.Best thing to start with is to create the aggregation level on top the real time cube itself.
    3. Check for any characteristic restrictions been defined for the real-time cubes. If so, try removing them temporarily and execute the query
4.Also check if any data slices has been created on the real time cube. If so, try removing it temporarily and then execute the query.
    5. Set the property for Planning "Start query in Change Mode"- this is for th Query
    6. Set the 'Key Figure' Planning Property to "Can be changed Manually or via Planning Functions" for the appropriate KeyFigures- this is for the key figures
    7. Try removing the currency/unit from row/column. Try restricting them in filters rather than in row/columns.
    8. Check if there are any locks occurring due to filter., i.e if you are using a filter and even if 1 record of this selection locks with another user's selection you lose the input readiness.
Mostly this should fix the issue. Assign points if this info helps you.
    Thanks,
    Balaji.

  • Input readiness working in BPS but not in IP

    Hi everyone,
I would like to plan on cost centers and have a cost center with a controlling area as a compound characteristic. A profit center and business unit is contained in the cost center's master data and is derived via characteristic relation. The planning cube contains the business unit, the profit center, the controlling area, the cost center and a key figure to be planned.
In BPS, I'm able to have a planning layout which contains only a selected cost center and a key figure. In IP, planning is only possible once I have the business unit, the profit center and the controlling area in the drilldown.
Since profit center and business unit are being derived and the controlling area is compounded, I was expecting to have a unique characteristic combination to make the key figure input-ready even without having to display the profit center, the controlling area and the business unit (even though drilldown shows me that the characteristic derivation is handled correctly).
What am I missing? Any help greatly appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Tilman

    Hi Tilman,
    let make an example:
    1. Planning Layout PL
    Selections:
PC: PC1, PC2,  used in header
BU: BU1, BU2,  used in header
CA: 0001 (cost area) used in header
CC: 4711 - 4720 (cost center) used in rows
Assume we have one key figure in the data column; assume we have no combination proposal in the layout and one posted record: PC2, BU2, 0001, 4712 with key figure value 42.
Thus one will have one header combination and one row in the layout. Assume we have the following master data table:
    CA, CC, PC, BU
    0001, 4711, PC1, BU1
    0001, 4712, PC2, BU2
With combination proposal in the layout you will get two header combinations, for the first header one will get one row (with CC = 4711) and for the second one row with CC = 4712
    2. Query
Selections as above, now CA, PC, BU used as free characteristics and CC drilled down in the rows. No combination proposal (i.e. the 'access mode for result sets' stuff) is used. This means you will get one row, but the query is not input ready since it contains (formally) aggregated values. Simply filter PC = PC2, BU = BU2, the query will be input ready. This view corresponds to the second header combination
in the BPS example. With filter PC = PC1, BU = BU1 you will get no data (since no combination proposal is used), but you can enter new lines. With combination proposal (for all characteristics use 'characteristic relationships' for the setting 'acess mode ...') you would also get one row.
To make a long story short, the only difference of 1. and 2. is that in BPS one can 'page through' the header combinations and the paging in BI-IP corresponds to filtering free characteristics to single values.

    Gregor

  • Can not change data in Input Ready Query

    All,
I have created an input ready query on an aggreagation level which has one transactional cube underlying it however, after run the query I am unable to change data in the cells even though I get a warning message saying query is ready for input
    Note:
    1. The underlying realtime cube is in "Planning Mode:Loading not allowed" state in rsa1
    2. I tried including all characteristics so that the record can be uniquely identified at that aggregation level).
    3. I am not using any characteristic restrictions
    4. I have not set any data slices
    5. I have set the property for Planning "Start query in Change Mode"
    6. I have set the 'Key Figure' Planning Properties to "Can be changed Manually or via Planning Functions" for the key figures
    7. I do not have currency/unit in row/column.
    8. There are any locks occurring
    Any pointers welcome.
    Thanks,
    Milind

    Hi Milind,
Was wondering how was your problem solved. I get the same message when I run the query in web from query designer and in bex analyzer the cells are not updated with the changes that I make.
I am hitting my head against the wall to figure what could be the problem as my plan query is simply based on aggregation level created directlty upon the real time info cube.
Have cross checked all the points that you mentioned in this post but I cells do not change.
There should be some way around to solve this problem.
    Thanks

  • How to write data in the Infocube using BI IP input ready functionality

    Hi All,
Please help me in the following scenario...
Input given to me is-- ZCUBSDID cube with associated role ZSP_BW_SAI_BUDGETS-DID_ALL.
Query is ZR_V7_CO_PA_CH_PB_DID_BUDGET_2 based on agregation level ZALBSDID (& ZALBVDID) in infoarea ZDACOPA.
I have to write data in the cube by using Input-Ready functionality of BI IP. Can you please provide me step by step procedure for writing the data in the cube as i am very new in IP side.
Also if any further input required just let me know.
My Analysis-> I checked that cube is in Planning mode and in Query Designer>Property Pane-->Planning Pane, Query is in Change mode and also associated Keyfigures are in Input-Ready enabled.
Also i am able to access query in Analyzer.
This is very critical for me and need to provide solution asap. Please update asap. It really be great help.
    Thanks & Regards
    Rupali Singh

    Hi,
To enter data in to planning cube through manual planning, you can do the following,
    1. In a query that is used for manual planning, a cell is only input ready if each characteristic value of all the characteristics included in the aggregation level is unique. None of the aggregated values on the aggregation level are therefore input ready: Totals, subtotals and inner hierarchy nodes are not input ready.
    2. To be able to change values for calculated key figures (like Average Price as a quotient of Amount and Quantity), these must be based on input-ready formulas, and at least one operand must be input ready. More information: Defining Inverse Formulas (Designtime) and Inverse Formulas (Runtime).
    3. In order to change aggregated values (with respect to the aggregation level), these values must be disaggregated on all the data records that contribute to the aggregated value of the cell. More information: Disaggregation (Top-Down-Distribution).
    4. If a query used for manual planning includes a navigation attribute that is restricted using a fixed or dynamic filter or a restricted key figure, the system treats the navigation attribute as a normal characteristic. The rule under point 1 applies here. The system only reacts as though the navigation attribute were not part of the query if the navigation attribute is not restricted.
    5. In a query defined on a MultiProvider or a complex aggregation level that you want to use manual planning for, a cell is not input ready if the InfoProvider that is defined by this cell is:
                                a.      Not a real-time InfoCube
                                b.      A real-time InfoCube that has been switched to load mode
    6. If an input-ready query is executed in change mode, but the requested data is locked by another user, the query starts in display mode.

  • IP: Use of input-ready variable in planning function

    Dear all,
I'm using an input-ready variable for fiscal year (0P_FYEAR) in my input ready query. It's used for restricting my columns.
I'd like to use the value of this variable in my planning function and I use VARV for that in the FOX.
However, when implementing the pl.function as a button in the BEx Analyzer I need to fill in the static parameters the VAR_VALUE_1 with a value.
If I delete this line from the static parameters my plfunction end swith an error.
I like this value of course to be filled with value of fiscal year entered by the user when starting the query.
Does anybody know how to solve this?
    Kind regards, Harjan

    Hi Johannes,
Thanks for all the useful information!
    Another thing on using PF.
I've got two workbooks with different queries but using <u>same</u> filter.
Queries differ in keyfigures, but are on same cubes in MultiProvider.
I can run the workbooks simultaneously: no locks occur.
I've got two planning functions that make calculations on the keyfigures entered in the workbook.
However when I inplement the PF's in both workbooks and assign the dataprovider as filter, i do get locks!
So, the PF also uses the same filter, but doesn't take into account the different keyfigures.
In the fox-formula i don't have the option to make conditions on keyfigure values (field keyfigname), neither to enter them in the filter.
Do you have any thoughts on this?
    <u>Second</u> point:
When i filter on a navigational attribute and execute the pf, i get errors on my pf.
It states it can't find the value of the characteristic to which the navigational attr belongs. F.i. when i filter on nav attr 'customer group'  (attr of char 'customer') and execute pf, the system gives an error on the value of char 'customer'.
It states: value of characteristic customer is notincluded in the selection.
    Any thoughts on this one?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards, Harjan
