Characteristics values required for batches

hi,
I need to retrive batch information from MCHA table for the combination of material/plant/Batch.
There are few values are available in the classification view. can any one tell me how to retrive those values. where this is getting stored??

Not sure whether I understood your question completely.
What would you like to acchieve?
1) Would you like to read batch information together with batch classification from a program? 
The most standard way to get this information is through BAPI_BATCH_GET_DETAIL.
This provides batch information plus batch classification.
If you have look into the BAPI code, there's also an internal function module VB_BATCH_GET_DETAIL that provides same information in a more "internal" view.
I would not recommend to directly retrieve (without buffer etc) from the db.
2) Would you like to do it online for th user?
I'd go for the transaction BMBC, the batch information cockpit.

    ThanksI suggest you to start letting the default parameters and then tune them step-by-step.
    Eg:
    - open_links => If you dont have database links you can avoid to set it.
    - processes: number of backgroud processes + expected session/users for your application. if you have 1000 users connecting at the same time you would set a value higher than 1000.
    - shared_pool_size, db_cache_size, sort_area_size, pga_aggregate_target are not mandatory if you use automatic memory management by Oracle.
    - etc.

  • User Defined Characteristics not populating for Batch during GR of SC PO

    We have a requirement to populate the one characteristic ( Country of origin ) of batch during GR.
    After GR the characteristics value should be displayed in Classification Tab of MSC3N transaction.
    So that I have implemented the Enhancement MBCFC004 .
    Two conditions here for Populating the Country of Origin
    1) During GR of Standard Purchase Order the Characteristics (Country of Origin) value should be mseg-oic_oland1 ( Country from Extenal Details )
        For this condition the User Exit code is working perfectly and also updating classification in MSC3N .
        NO ISSUE for Standard Purchase Order.
    2) During GR of Subcontract Purchase Order the Characteristics (Country of origin value ) should be populated from the characteristics value of Batch of
          component Material .
        For this condition the User Exit Code is working perfectly , But NOT updating classifcation in MSC3N .
        This happens for Subcontract PO.
    Can anyone suggest solution , why this happening for Subcontract Purchase Order.

    I am not sure about your question, but if you want to populate the classification data during goods receipt then you need to maintain characteristics values in material master for classification tab under class type batch i.e. 022. After then it will apper during goods receipt for characteristics value for batch.

  • Same Batch Number with different characteristics value

    Dear Gurus,
    I have the following scenerio:
    The finished goods should be maintain in batch with external number  and at the time of confirming the finished goods in co11n the client want to capture the finished goods value like length, width and diameter.
    So we propose the batch characteristics with class type of 022 for finished good and we maintain the character as length, width and diameter under the batch class 022 and assign the batch class in finished good classification view.
    Now the requirement is we want to capture the batch characteristics value length width and diameter with same batch number for multiple confirmation.
    Example:
    Confirmation      Batch number               batch Class               Length     width     Diameter
    1                        1000                              022                              100        50             20
    2                        1000                              022                              120        25             10
    3                        1000                              022                              150        70             30  
    Now at present we are trying to capture the batch characteristics with same batch number but our standard system will not allow to maintain the different batch characteristics value under same batch number. If we overrite the batch characteristics in msc2n transaction the last value maintained be copied to all batch number. but we want same batch number with different batch characteristics value.
    Please share your idea and try to solve..

    Dear Vimal,
    It is not possible to maintain multiple batch characteristics in one batch.
    Work around is to create original batches and assign to your production order.  During CO11N, generate one batch per confirmation.  There is a report in batch information cockpit to link between original batch and batch per confirmation.

    I have maintained some values in the characteristics under batch classification in material master and want to copy the values in batch characteristics during batch creation at process order release.
    Can any one help me to achieve this in standard way?

    Hi,
    Try to understand the batch classification functionality...In batch classification characteristic values changes from batch to batch...Values should not be maintained in the material master...it does not have any meaning...in the material master we need to assign only the batch class with class type 023 in classification view ...no need to assign the values there....Batch classification means characteristics values differs from batch to batch...

  • Characteristics Value

    Hey Guys I create the characteristics and it has multiple Value .Some Value has subordinate value exist ...When I am going in AUSP table it's just showing me the subordinate value not the main characteristics value.
    For example If I have a characteristics Value Head Size and it has subordinate value.. small, mid and big..it's only showing me small ,big ,med in AUSP table not Head Size. Is there any place I can see only this so I can use that logic for my BOBJ reporting ?

  • Enable/Disable Characteristics value assignment during Configuration in SD

    Hi,
    I have a sales order which has to be configured using Variant Configuration.
    During the configuration process, I want to restrict the value assignment by classes. Meaning I have 2 classes - one for GRP1 and another for GRP2.
    During creation of sales order, I give the sales ppl authorization to class for GRP1, which allows them to do characteristics value assignment for all the characteristics in the class called GRP1. The other users are not allowed to change any values assigned in GRP1 but they can view the info in GRP1, these users can only configure whatever characteristics in GRP2.
    I tried using authorization object C_TCLS_MNT.
    Mentioned in the SU21,
    C_TCLS_MNT Authorization for Characteristics of Org. Area object can be used.
    Actvt : 23 Maintenance of characteristics for org. area allowed , any other value Display area only characteristics for org.
    However, I am unable to assign any other value other than 23. It mentioned that any other value is Display but I am unable to assign the other value.
    It seems to be that C_TCLS_MNT is not working. Even when I do not assign C_TCLS_MNT (disable it) but using C_TCLS_BER (with org area), it allows user to do everything (display and change).

    Please assign the value as ' ' (Single space included within single quote) to use "Any other value" option.
    The other Objects can be used here are:
    C_CLMM          CLAS     Mass Processing of Classifications
    C_TCLA_BKA     CLAS     Authorization for Class Types
    C_TCLS_BER     CLAS     Authorization for Org. Areas in Classification System
    C_TCLS_MNT     CLAS     Authorization for Characteristics of Org. Area
    Please check how many of these are present for the TCode you are using in TCode SU24 as Check/Maintain (or Check Indicator = Check & Proposal = Yes :  If you are in ECC).
    The activity 23 means "maintain"

    Please help regarding the assigning of characteristics value for a batch in transaction code MSC2N or MSC2 in the classification tab.
    If Function modules or BAPI is available pls advise the inputs to be provided for the function modules.
    Here is one function module which i searched, but if i run this function module, i am not able to commit my characteristics value.
    The function module is CIF_BATCHCHAR_MAP.
    For the above function module the inputs which i have given are...

  • Need to restrict values in F4 help for Batch Characteristic

    Hi,
    I need to restrict values in F4 Help for a batch characteristic based on values entered for another characteristic. I could not find any BADI or Exit for this purpose. There is a BADI CACL_VALUE which is triggered after an entry is selected from dropdown list but nothing when we press F4. I thought of using Object Dependency but I need to write a programming logic for the requirement. Please let me know if there is any way to write program in Object Dependency or any other way for this requirement.

    first of all, find out which search help is called.

    may help you.
    If you know the search help, you may enhance it, but first of all you should check the where-used-list and make sure that the search help shows the requested behavior only in the context where you want it to.
    If it is your own program, you may be better off to create your own search help and define the triggering fields as search help interface input fields. Then you can use the values to filter results.

  • Mass Upload of object dependency for characteristics value

    Hi ,
      I need to upload the object dependency for characteristics values through transaction CT04. My input data consists of characteristcs name , characteristics value and the object dependency (KNNAM) . Need to populate the KNNAM field alone .
    Have tried with the FM 'CTMV_CHARACT_CHANGE_KNOWL_VAL' which suits my requirement but teh dependencies are not getting uploaded . Am I missing anything ? Since I do not have class details i.e class num and class type I am not able to use  the BAPI like 'BAPI_CLASS_CHARVALUE_LOCAL_DEP ' . Please suggest any othe r suitable method .

  • Copying Batch Characteristics Value from Standard SAP Table Field

    Dear Experts,
    1. While creating a user-defined Batch Characteristics 'CREATED_BY' using ct04,  on the Additional Data tab, I filled  the following fields as follows:  Table Name = MCHA,  Field Name =ERNAM.
    'CREATED_BY' was then assigned to a batch Class TRIMMED (of class type 022).
    TRIMMED  was assigned to a batch managed material ADE245DD.     
    After posting co15 (confirmation of production order) for material ADE245DD, the value in table MCHA & field ERNAM is automatically copied into the Batch Characteristics value field of u2018CREATED_BYu2019  for the generated batch.
    2. But I am unable to achieve the same result when I create another Batch Characteristic with similar settings in the Additional Data tab as follows: Table Name = MARC, Field Name = DISPO.
    After doing co15, the value stored in table MARC and field DISPO does not get copied into the Batch Characteristics value.
    Please what do I need to do in Scenario 2 above to achieve the same result as in Scenario1?

    Table and field used in additional data table should be related to the object than only it will work, for e.g. MCHA and ERDAT will work if you create a characteristcis and assign it to class type Batch (022/023) because MCHA table has Batch no. as primary key,
    this implies for using material specific table e.g. MARA , you should use characteristics with class type 001 (Material class) , try using with table MARC also

    I want to develop a custom report where material master batch characteristics value should be displayed.
    The report will display based on Process order No. In Process order AFPO table I am bringing MATNR, CHARG, WERKS information.
    Now, the MATNR is maintained with a batch classification of class type 001 (material class) one characteristic "Z_NUMERIC" and value is maintained as "22345".
    Now, in custom report I have to bring the 22345 no. In which Table I can get the information for material for 001 class type characteristics value?

  • How to show the Characteristics Values of Batch appear upon Search?

    Dear all
    We are implementing SAP for Wood Industry.
    Facts:
    1. There are 3 batches created for the raw material.
    2. Each batch has the characteristics of Thickness, Width, Length with characteristics value  24mm, 140mm, 1530mm
    3. 1 Production Order has been create to produce raw material (RM) to semifinised goods (SM).
    Quetions:
    During GI to Produciton Order using MVT 261, when we try to select batches from the Item Detail level, the pop up search windows only show us the existing 3 Batch Numbers available for the RM, it does not show the characteristics value "thickness, Width, length" that describe each batch.
    And this has caused serious problem to use during their selection of batch as batch number will only make more sense to them if it is shown together with the characteristics value.
    Apart of opening additional screen to show the batch information of each batch, is there any config I need to do to solve this situation?

    Hi,
    it is possible to use another search help (Tab Strip: Search for batches via classes, when you press F4 in the batch field).
    Here you have to enter the class number first.
    Then you get a list of all characteristics in this class, and you can narrow your selection, by setting values for specific characteristics.
    After that, press F8 (Find in initial class)
    You will get a list of batches, assigned to the selected class, and fullfilling your selection criteria.
    Now you can display either the characteristics of a single batch, or you can define a layout for the ALV-Table control, with all characteristics, which you want to see in the overview.
    Another possibility is, to open up the 'batch information cockpit' (transaction BMBC) in a separate mode. Here you can see the characteristics ( if you define a selection class on tab strip 'Characteristics' ), e.g. in combination with stock information, which might be relevant as well.
