Charts with Multiple Data Series in One Color

I am trying to create a pie chart to reflect the different areas of my budget in four categories. However, my budget is divided into several smaller categories across several columns and I can only get the cells in the first column to register even though the additional cells show up in the Inspector as part of the series.

Jerry,
Thanks for the info. I'll give that a read when I get home today. In a roundabout way I tried part of that. I created my chart with my data for Mammallia and the time periods. Then I selected the occurrences for Synapsids and dropped them in, but it added them to the first data set in the chart? I'm guessing I was doing something wrong, but I'm unsure of what. Numbers/Excel has never been a strong subject for me, but I'll try your advice and see what I come up with.
Reading your post again, the last way seems the most simple and I feel a little foolish for not thinking of that myself. Oh well, that's how we learn right? Thanks for your help!! You saved me a lot of hassle.
Best regards,
Mitch

  • X-y Scatter chart with multiple data series

    Hi,
How do I create an x-y scatter chart with more than 1 data series?  For example:
    Series 1
    x__y
    1__0
    2__5
    3__9
    4__7
    5__2
    Series 2
    x_____y
    0.5___0
    1.3___4.8
    2.6___12.3
    4.1___8.4
    4.9___3.2
I can do this with 2 seperate graphs but I need them on the same graph.
Is there a limit on the number of series that can be placed on a single x-y scatter graph?
    Many thanks.

  • Convert a scatter graph with multiple data series into individual graphs

I am trying to convert a scatter graph with multiple data series into individual graphs, with the series having the same formatting as in the graph when all series are together.
Normally, if I delete any series, the color scheme for all the other series vanishes. I can then waste more time in having to re-adjust the  color and shape of the series, but this is tedious. This, I do not want. Is there an automated way to do this?
Ideally, of course, all series would appear in little subsections in the space of the former one graph, all with individual axes, but I can't have all, so I'll settle with having several individual new graphs, each with just one series, and with the original
    formatting.
    Thx.

How about creating a copy of the chart, and then setting all series except one to be transparent (no line, no marker)? Repeat for each series.

  • Report Builder with multiple data series

I am not able to figure out how to create a bar chart using
multiple data series in the Report Builder. I can do it with
explicit CFML coding but not in the Report Builder. I am running MX
version 7 with the current (as of 9/1/07) download of the Report
    Builder.
My table contains visit information by site, with standard
demographics on each visit (age, race, gender, etc.) I am trying to
analyze the data by site, for example, race by site.
I am using an SQL statement to sort and group by site &
race. I can get a chart of the number of visits for each site or
the total number of visits by race across all sites. But I can't
get race by site. The SQL statement looks like this:
SELECT race, site, COUNT(*) as counter
    FROM visit_info WHERE userid = #session.uid#
GROUP BY site, race ORDER by site, race
Every variation I have tried for showing race by site either
leaves out part of the results or creates a bar chart that has the
race and site categories as separate entities (White, Black,
    Chinese, Site1, Site2, Site3, etc). I've also tried creating a
combined variable (site_race) but that doesn't seem to fare any
    better.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Pop,
Badunit's example is one possible arrangement that you might have described; that is, one column for X values and several columns for Y values. This is the case when you should respond that you are sharing X-values. With all the data in one table, you can select it all at once, so you don't have the problem with dragging additional series into the chart.
The Numbers User Guide PDF's first chapter is the place to start getting your bearings - you will learn how to distinguish Header vs. Body rows and columns. It's worth the effort to take another look at it.
Since you are using a Scatter Chart, it's important not to use a header column for X because X values must be Numeric, as opposed to Text.

  • Scatter Plot With Multiple Data Series

    Hello,
I would greatly appreciate any help you guys could give me.
I need one scatter plot that shows 4 different groups of data. They all go with the same X and Y axis values, though.
I can get a scatter graph with ONE group, but it won't let me add in another one. I tried the clicking and dragging the new cells, and the shift clicking, but the data just will not go into the chart. It's like it doesn't recognize it.
I think I read something about sharing the X values? But I don't know how to do that?
    Thanks a ton in advance!!

  • Help: Chart with multiple data points

I would like to create a chart which has 2 data points. The way I know it works, each metric has only one data point. If I want the metric history chart shows 2 data points (y axis) over the same period of time (x axis). Is it possible to do such metric?
    Thanks for the help.

Don't believe you can have 2 data points as you are suggesting. Oracle is working on enhancing the reporting framework for EM, but not sure when BI will be there. You can send data from the OMR to an existing BI infrastructure and report from there.
    Sorry...
    Have a good day.

  • Stacked Bar Chart with Multiple Series Sort Question

    Hi,
    Apex version 4.1.1
I have a stacked bar chart with three separate series, one showing customer effort, another showing project effort and the third showing other effort, summarized by calendar week. The x-axis of the chart is the calendar "week of" date, and the y-axis has a bar for each of the three series. Not every type of effort occurs every week.
When AnyChart renders the chart, the order of entries on the x-axis seems to be dependent both on which series are present in a given week as well as the "week of" date. Weeks with all three series sort in order by calendar date, followed by weeks where just the 2nd & 3rd series are present, followed by weeks where just the 3rd series is present. See this [url http://tinypic.com/r/b9zdt/6] picture of the chart  noting the "week of" dates. Note that the months go Sep-Oct-Nov-Aug-Oct.
Is there a way to force AnyChart to sort the x-axis in chronological order regardless of whether there is data for all three series for a given week? I have looked through the AnyChart XML reference but cannot find a way to do this.
Incidentally, I can solve the sorting problem by combining all three series into a single query:
    select
      null as link,
      week_of as label,
      sum(customer_effort) as "Customer Effort",
      sum(project_effort) as "Project Effort",
sum(other_effort) as "Training, Admin and Other Effort"
from ...But if I do this, I cannot figure out how to have each bar on a given week link to a different detail page, e.g., if I click on a bar representing customer effort I want to link to one page, but if I click on a bar representing project effort, I want to link to a different page. I have had a look at the [url http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=36648:59:1570983160946101::NO:::] chart examples  posted on apex.oracle.com, but cannot figure out how to apply to multiple series in a single query.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Thanks, Jeff. I did try this but for whatever reason it doesn't make a difference. I think it is because if there's no data for a given series for a certain week, there is no entry in the data set that is sent to AnyChart.
I was able to get around the issue by "filling in" the missing weeks from each data series. To generate the list of "Week Of" dates for a given date range, I used this code:
    select
         trunc (each_day) as week_of,
         0 as effort
    from (
         select
              (to_date(:p920_start_date,:app_date_format) + 2 - to_char(to_date(:p920_start_date,:app_date_format),'D') - 1) + level each_day
         from dual
         connect by level <= to_date(:p920_end_date,:app_date_format) - to_date(:p920_start_date,:app_date_format) + 1
    where
to_char (each_day, 'D') = '2'This creates an effort entry of 0 for each week within the date range; I use the Monday date of a week as the "Week Of" date. I then union this with my actual data and summarize by week and viola, I get the weeks in order. This also has the benefit of showing a week for which there are no entries in any of the three series.
Thanks for taking a look at this.

  • Line Chart with Multiple Series

    Post Author: JayZee
    CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
    HI
I am trying to create a line chart with multiple series for trend analysis on CR XI but not having much luck, I thought it would be so simple to do!
My data is provided summarized on the server and is returned as 12 rows:
    Month       Year1        Year2      Year3      Year4     Year5January      100           80          75           90          120February      85           25           40           25          80etc for the rest of the months
My problem is that I can only get the chart to accept the values to display as a summary and not just as the data pulled back from the server.  I have read an article on the support site for Crystal 6.0  but it doesn't seem to translate well into XI.
If necessary I could redesign the table to bring back un-summarized data but that is quite a big job.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

In the chart expert, put Month in the 'On change of' box and put each year in the 'Show values' box. This puts the month on the x-axis and plots each year as a line.
    Is that what you want?
I did this in CR 2008 using your data in an Excel sheet.

  • "Scatter" Chart with Multiple Values per Date

    APEX Gurus,
I need to plot a chart with multiple y-axis values along the x-axis.
    Here's an example:
    X-Axis (Date) Y-Axis (Number)
    1-JAN-07 1
    1-JAN-07 2
    1-JAN-07 3
    2-JAN-07 1
    2-JAN-07 2
    3-JAN-07 1
Right now, APEX displays the X-axis (Date) as separate values on the x-axis. But I want all three 1-JAN-07 values to line up vertically under x-axis. I am currently using a line chart for this. And it displays a "dot" for each value (depending on my max rows value).
Any insight would be much appreciated! And thanks in advance!

You can try using this charting tool for generating scatter charts:

  • Creating SVG Chart with multiple lines

    Hi All,
I want to create a chart with multiple lines.
Ex: I have one emp table with empno, sal and deptno columns.
I want to print deptno in x axis and no of employees on y axis.
I want to print one line for employees with sal > 15000 and one more line for employee with sal =< 15000
So one line will show no of employees with sal more than 15000 for each dept. Similar case for the other line and these 2 lines should be in different colors.
For one line the query will go as
    select link, deptno, count(empno)
from emp where sal > 15000 group by null, deptno
Is this possible to draw this chart?
    Thanks,
    Manoj

I wasn't able to do something like what you describe, but I was able to do this:
I defined column A of the table as a Header Row, selected the cells in the table, and chose this chart type (2D 2 Axis):
Then I clicked the chart and in the pane at the right checked 'Axis Name' in the Axis tab and added the axis names.
Maybe this can give you an idea of how you can illustrate the relationships that you want to show.

  • Line chart with different length series?

    Hello,
I would like to draw a line chart with three different series.
    1. Previous year
    2. Current year (until now)
    3. Estimate (2 months)
I've got 12 values for the previous year, 4 values for the current year (January to April) and 2 estimated values for May and June.
When I define the three series, each is stretched over the whole width of the chart. How can I avoid that and force for instance the April values to be displayed above each other? Is it possible at all with this type of chart? (In Excel, it's quite easy...)
    Thanks for any help!
    Sabine

    Hi,
You’ll have to write a query for your series 2 and 3 that has the same number of data points as your series 1 query, in your example that would be 12. Line series charts are always stretched over the full width by design. The months for which you have no data, would have a value of NULL. Please note that there is one issue, which has been fixed in 2.2, that causes the charting engine to only render dots instead of lines for series 2, 3, …, if they have a NULL value at the last data point. So if I understand your requirements correctly, you should try this on our 2.2 hosted beta instance, and then upgrade to 2.2 when it comes out.

  • How to tune performance of a cube with multiple date dimension?

    Hi,
I have a cube where I have a measure. Now for a turn time report I am taking the date difference of two dates and taking the average, max and min of the date difference. The graph is taking long time to load. I am using Telerik report controls.
Is there any way to tune up the cube performance with multiple date dimension to it? What are the key rules and beset practices for a cube to perform well?
    Thanks,
    Amit

    Hi amit2015,
According to your description, you want to improve the performance of a SSAS cube with multiple date dimension. Right?
In Analysis Services, there are many tips to improve the performance of a cube. In this scenario, I suggest you only keep one dimension, and only include the column which are required for your calculation. Please refer to "dimension design" in
    the link below:

  • Is it currently possible to create a doughnut chart with multiple concentric circles in SSRS?

Is there currently any way to create a 'doughnut' chart with multiple concentric circles in an SSRS report (any version), without using 3rd party tools?
    Something like this, perhaps?
(For that matter is it possible to create this using JavaScript?  It's my understanding that this image was originally created in a web app using JavaScript.  So far I've not been able to pin down the details.  I've found hints that JavaScript
can be used in SSRS reports but so far no clear working examples.)

    Hi B.Chernick,
According to your description, you want to create a create a doughnut chart with multiple concentric circles in your report. Right?
In Reporting Services, we only have doughnut chart with one concentric circle. All the category group is in that concentric circle. Though we can embed javascript injection in expression, it only give the css style to values or report
items which can change the looking. It can't change the structure of the report items itself. So your requirement can't be achieved current.
For your requirement, we suggest you provide Microsoft a feature request at

so that we may try to expand the product features based on your needs.

  • Publication for Deski report with multiple data providers

    Hi,
Has anyone been able to get a publication working that uses a Deski report with multiple data providers as the source? I'm trying to get a publication working that uses dynamic recipients and personalization. When I try to schedule the publication, I get the error "Object not found".
    Thanks,
    Debbie

    Debbie,
    That's standard.
It's useful for emulating outer joins in reports.
Say you've got a sales report where you want to display all 12 months of the year in a crosstab whatever month you run in.
We're only in May at the moment though. With one data provider (SALES), you'll get a crosstab with just up to May for your months.
If you create a separate data provider called MONTHS to return the months in the current year, you will then have a merged dimension of YearMonth in both.
In your crosstab if you just use YearMonth you'll get just the five months. If you qualify it with its data provider name (in our case MONTHS), you'll see the full twelve months shown.
I hope that clears it up for your.

  • Web Analysis : populate the same table with multiple data sources

    Hi folks,
I would like to know if it is possible to populate a table with multiple data sources.
For instance, I'd like to create a table with 3 columns : Entity, Customer and AvgCostPerCust.
Entity and Customer come from one Essbase, AvgCostPerCust comes from HFM.
The objective is to get a calculated member which is Customer * AvgCostPerCust.
    Any ideas ?
Once again, thanks for your help.

I would like to have the following output:
    File 1 - Store 2 - Query A + Store 2 - Query B
    File 2 - Store 4 - Query A + Store 4 - Query B
    File 3 - Store 5 - Query A + Store 5 - Query B
the bursting level should be give at
    File 1 - Store 2 - Query A + Store 2 - Query B
so the tag in the xml has to be split by common to these three rows.
since the data is coming from the diff query, and the data is not going to be under single tag.
you cannot burst it using concatenated data source.
But you can do it, using the datatemplate, and link the query and get the data for each file under a single query,
    select distinct store_name from all-stores
    select * from query1 where store name = :store_name === 1st query
    select * from query2 where store name = :store_name === 2nd query
define the datastructure the way you wanted,
the xml will contain something like this
    <stores>
    <store> </store> - for store 2
    <store> </store> - for store 3
    <store> </store> - for store 4
    <store> </store> - for store 5
    <stores>
now you can burst it at store level.
