Check Constraint names aren't synced when engineering to logical

Just learned about this tool at OOW and ran into an issue involving check constraint names being compared but not synced when engineering from the relational model to the logical model. When I set the constraint names in the logical model (and perform one last "Engineer to Logical Model") after that the compare dialog shows the table and entities match. Is this a bug?
Steps to reproduce:
1. importing a relational data model from data dictionary which contains a table with a column level check constraint
2. perform "Engineer to Logical model" to produce the logical model
Issue:
Perform another "Engineer to Logical model" which will show the table with the column level check constraint as being out of sync with the logical model's equivalent entity, when you drill down into the diff in the compare dialog box you see the check constraint name has a value in the relational model and the name is null in the logical model
Verify:
Looking in logical model at the constraint (<Entity>/Attributes/Attribute Properties/Default and Constraint/Constraint Name) the value is empty
Work Around:
Set the constraint name in the spot from verify above and perform "Engineer to Logical model" twice. The first time it will show the same issue, the second time it will show the table and entity match

thanks for feedback. It's fixed now and you'll get the fix in version 3.0.
Another( probably better workaround) - in engineering dialog - "Compare/Copy options" tab - uncheck "Don't use for new objects" option.

SQL*Modeler Version 2.0.0. Build 584
If I create named check constraints under the Relational Model/Tables/Table level Constraints then generate the model I have the constraints correctly named. Exit the model and reload, the constraints appear to be correct but when I look at the physical model under tables/table check constraints I see generated names such as TCC4, TCC5 etc.
At this point I can change the name but this is not stored it is just thown away.
If I go back to Relational Model/Tables/Table level Constraints and simply Apply no changes then the constraint names appear correctly in the generated model. However, I have many tables and this is not a practial solution each time I generate the model.

FWDEngineering.execute() nullpointerException when engineering from logical to physical model

Dear Community,
During the "engineer to relational model" from the logical model I got a long time the correct behaviour.
Now I get the following error in the log file: "ERROR FWDEngineering - FWDEngineering.execute()" NullpointerException
The model is not that large but contains a number of entities with sub-entities for which I set the way of implementation to generate a single table.
Test 1: Restart
Removing the model has not solved the problem for this ... (delete entire relational model)
Test 2: reset subtype implementation to default behaviour
So on the level of the super entity the following settings are set on the subtype property page:
- subtree do not preset
- No Discriminator column
- no 'use attribute' selected
- no column name set,
The model generates the foreign keys ... and gives no error.
Test 3 : setting discriminator.
Juglin' around with the properties I noticed that when after starting from test 2 and setting the property "generate discrimator" *and* selecting the name of the discriminator colomn the error can be reproduced. Currently I do not know fit the setting subtree together with discriminator column is logically correct ... but I get the stacktrace ;-)
Test 4 : can the subtree generation mode solve it -> Seems I'm not able to set it to an other value than "do not preset" anymore.
Version datamodeler is 4.0.0.833
Test 5 : Created a smaller model ... and tested if the foreign key generation in itself caused the problem. Removing the relationship with a subentity does not cause the problem to not occur ...
At this moment in time ... it seems to me I cannot set the mode to generate the master entity and its subs to one table anymore.
What am I doing wrong?
... and anyway ... there is a stacktrace ;-)
Has anyone some solution/experience with this?
For the completeness ... the stacktrace, which shows a processDiscriminatorColumn ....
Oh yes ... also for completeness: in the test with a subentity not having a relationship the method calling the processDescr... is a different one inheritancePostProcessingNew() ...

thanks for detailed report. We also found the problem in engineering of entity hierarchy when existing attribute is used as discriminator column. No such problem when leave DM to create new discriminator column.
Problem is fixed and fix is included in the forthcoming patch release.
About your questions/observations:

Generation of table for given entity depends on "Engineer to" flag and it can have different value for each relational model. If the flag is checked then table will be generated for that entity
otherwise attributes will be implemented by another entity down or up in the hierarchy. So two combo boxes in "Entity and sub-tree generation preset" help you to set that flag for entity
and it's sub-tree. It's functionality behind them, not properties so they are always in initial state when you reopen dialog.
Currently I do not know fit the setting subtree together with discriminator column is logically correct
They are related - discriminator column won't be generated:
1) if you go for sub-types implementation
2)implement all entity but "References" is set to arc implementation.

Views always appear as different when engineering from Logical to Relational

I created some views in my logical model. After I engineer them to relational model, they appear in relational with an exclamation mark near the upper left corner. If I try to generate ddl for them, I get an error (-- ERROR: Invalid View VwTest). I realized that I have to "validate selected views", in order for the eclamation mark to disappear, and then I am able to generate ddl for them. After that, when I engineer from logical to relational again, it always shows me that my views are different. The difference is that in logical, my entities are shown between double quotes ("), while in relational, after the validation, the tables are not between double quotes. Is there a way to overcome this?

Domain check constraint using column name

Hello,
in the domain administration of Data Modeler, I defined a domain "age",
and set it to logical type "Integer". Now I want to define a check constraint
for that domain, saying, that every attribute of domain "age" must have
values greater than 18.
But how should I specify the column name for that check-constraint, since
I cannot know now, to which columns this domain will be applied to, and
these columns could have different names!
I tried {column} > 18 and hoped that {column} might be substituted by
the appropriate column name when generating DDL but it was not,
the DDL contained "check ( {column} > 18 ) which did of course not work.
Does anybody have an idea?

Thanks a lot, that solved the problem. I noticed additionally, that %COLUMN% is case sensitive, so %COLUMN% gets substituted by the column name in the DDL, while %column% does not.

I have this identical problem. For a while my group texts didnt show up on my ipad. Then one day they did, maybe everyone in the group started using the same os version or something. Ever since my first reply to the group there have been complaints of multiple threads. I can not find a pattern for when my group text's decide they want to create a new thread. (it doesnt happen every time) Everyone in the group has deleted the thread, we've all toggled imessage on/off etc. There still hasn't been a solution.

From your statements above, it sounds like you never tried to burn a CD for at least the first year that you owned the laptop, as it had a one year warranty on it. While you might have used it frequently to install software, play DVDs, Blu-Ray disks, etc, that's unclear from your statements. Nonetheless, it might just be dirty-dusty. So, before deleting-uninstalling any software, and given they're cheap, try a CD-DVD Cleaner Disk first and see if that resolves your problems.

Changes to my iTunes library aren't syncing over to my phone

The title basically says it all.
I've been having this issue for the past week. I added some new songs to my library (yes, they're in the iTunes folder on my computer as well, so I know I added them correctly) and tried to sync them. I checked my phone, and saw that only the new songs I added had synced, while the titles/artist name of other songs I edited haven't synced over.
So basically...
-New songs are syncing.
-Edits to songs that were already in my library aren't syncing.
My warranty is up on my phone, and I really don't have 20$ to pay Apple for support. Is this problem happening with anyone else? What can I do to fix it?
Again, I added the songs through the iTunes folder on my computer, so I know I added them right. As for the changes to names of artists/some other songs, they're appearing in my library, but they just won't sync to the phone.

Choose Store > Authorize This Computer from the menu bar.

DB Diagram: Modality Difference between NOT NULL and check constraint

I am using jdev 11g (11.1.1.10) I am trying to create a db diagram from two tables. I have a FK that is NOT NULL (defined on the column). When i try to display these two tables modality, it does not show up in the diagram. I noticed that there are two ways NOT null can be defined on a table (right click on the db object to edit it; a) under column definitions there is a check box for not null, b) there is a check constraint that one can add to do not null.
I am confused and was wondering whether I must I have check constraints on the database in order to display modality (optional versus mandatory). Logically speaking it does not make any sense though.

UML notation, one must define a COLUMN being NOT NULL instead of defining a check constraint.
I still do not understand how modality (optional versus mandatory) is shown in ERD notation in JDev. I tried flipping ERD/UML notations and made sure icons for tables were showing, but no MODALITY is shown in ERD notation ( an '0" icon or a "|" icon for optional and mandatory). Is it the solid line versus dotted line in the ERD diagram? I am confused because generally under Crawfoot ERD notation '0" icon or a "|" icon is shown for modality.

Another question i have related to the matter mentioned above is as follows. Since I want to see modality in db diagram, it follows that I must define a column as not null instead of a check constraint. I must also use NO VALIDATE on NOT NULL column because i have prior data that does not meet the new restriction. I noticed that if i use the following syntax to define a NOT NULL column, two things happen.
a) A constraint is defined as not null automatically and a system generated name is given to the constraint.
b) DB diagram in Jdev does not show the modality.
My question is whether there is a way to see modality in this case.
