Check for excel installation

Hi All,
Is there a way to check to see if Ms Excel is already installed on a given system? And is there a way to check for the current version of Excel? I'm running LV 8.6 w. Report Generation toolkit.

Automation Open will return error -2147221164 if excel is not installed
To get the version, use a property node to get the the Version property on the Excel._Application ref (the ref returned by the Automation Open call). I'm not sure of the correlation between version numbers and excel naming schemes, but i know that versions 11 and earlier and pre-Excel 2007.
Note that if you are using pre-2007 Excel, you should not save with a .xlsx extension or vice versa. neither old or new excel will know what to do with the file.
Whenever you have Excel issues, I recommend going to http://msdn.microsoft.com and searching for the function or idea you are having trouble with. You'll usually get some really good text programming examples that will get you where you need to go.

Virus-Check for the installation-file failed because there is a password needed. Can someone tell me the password? Adobe Flashplayer.

Although VSTO doesn't provide anything for checking for a new available application-version (VSTO Excel-Document-Level-Customization)
prior to launching the app (but this check outside the VSTO-Application itself obviously isn't possible) I would like to know if there is a better way to handle this whole procedure.

Based on your description, it seems that you want the add-in check updates before the add-in loaded.
Right?
If so, you could select Check every time the
customization runs, and that should solve your issue, because it will check updates before the add-in loaded.

If that is not the one fits your requirement, then I am afraid that it is impossible to get update before the add-in loads, because we could call
ClickOnce Api but there is no such event to call that api.

Trying to install adobe acrobat pro 9 on a new laptop after deactivating it on old laptop. After installation I get Update check for some reason then doesn't let me go any further Anyone know why this is?

OK so I have deactivated and uninstall the version off the old laptop, then reinstalled the version on the new laptop. When you go to open a document it says it wants to do an upgrade check for some reason, anyone know why this is? It will not take the serial number after that and it doesn't show the version we have in the drop down list.

What operating system are you running on the new laptop? If it's a current OS, then it may be incompatible with Acrobat 9. Please see https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/system-requirements-acrobat-family-prod ucts.html.
It could also be that you're trying to install an upgrade, and the installer is looking for the serial number for the previous version (is the previous version listed in the drop-down list?).

DB installs fails with [INS-30060] Check for group existence failed

as user jjayet I'm running on OEL 5.6 64 bits the following command to install DB 11gR2 :

the problems seems relater to accessing /tmp
as the local disk is not enough to use the default /tmp (the DB install will fail with full disk error as the local disk space is very low )
I've created a partition from new disk to /tmp which I have then mounted (default is nfs3) :

# mount
/dev/xvdc1 on /tmp type ext2 (rw)
the result of DB install into /tmp is :

do you know how to use tmp over nfs with user jjayet so that the DB can install properly ?

it does not explain the root cause of the problem but just propose a workaround to pass an option to installer which will popi\up an interactive messgae at install time
as installation is done automatically through ADE / DTE I cannot use this workaround
any expert in oracle DB install can help ?

Fuzzy Lookup Add-In for Excel - Unattended installation

I would lige the Fuzzy Lookup Add-In for Excel to be installed silently, but it seems only to be possible for a Per-User installation with the parameter "setup.exe /passive"
I need the installation to be for All Users, but I can´t find any parameter that makes that possible.

Checking for file whether it is excel file or not??

when ever we r download or upload a file we never check for its type...
like when gui_upload fm used then it should be text file ....or
when alsmex_excel_to_internal_table fm used by default check its have 2 be excel file...
but my recomend is when ever download/upload a file its checking its type....
if .xls file then alsmex_excel_to_internal_table fm runs or if .txt then gui_upload runs...
need some type of file checking..

Spell check for microsoft word and excel not working?

Hi all,
I seem to have a problem of spell check for micrsoft word / excel not working. It all stemed with me deleting microsoft office from my computer, after thinking it was playing havoc on my system, (making it slower and sending a strange attachment with some emails) but after one week I relaised i needed it, i tried loading it again, but now the spell check doesnt seem to work?
also if any one can tell me, regarding my strange attachment. i was told today that "ATT00034" is sent because it contains font information that is not supported to the people i send it to? im not sure?

Workshop 6u1 installation freezes when checking for disk space

Hi!
I've trying to install Workshop 6 update 1 but while installing and the application is checking for disk space it just freezes on me. One important thing, this system had Workshop 4, 6u1 and 6u2 installed. I removed the package for ws4 and untinstalled ws6u1 and ws6u2 from /var/sadm/prod/com.forte....... for each one of the versions.
Do you have any idea what is going on, why it freezes when checking for disk space???

Excel Trying to Load PowerPivot Add-in (version 11.1.3129.0) for Excel 2010 even after Uninstalltion of the Add-in.

Hi all,
I am trying to Package and deploy Powerpivot Add-in for Excel 2010. I have the Powerpivot_X86_(11.1.329.0) .MSI which installs Unattended, but Uninstallation will not remove entry from COM ADD-IN list in Excel and at first re-launch (even after
Power Pivot Uninstallation) it will try to load Powerpivot add-in and will give an error.
Downloading file.///c:/Program files (x86)/Microsoft analysis services/AS Excel Client/110/Microsoft.AnalysisServices.XLHost.Addin.VSTO did not succeed.
this above path is the [InstallDir] which gets wiped off with the unistallation of the .MSI. So, before uninstallation,I stop the excel process and am running a script to delete HKCU Add-in Reg key entries.
and also, I thought it may be implicitly loading the add-in from folder such as,
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\XLstart
%appdata%\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
but nothing is installed there.
Second Issue
when I re-install,
it doesn't automatically show up in the Excel ribbon (even after reboot and even if regeistries are created at the same location) but instead we should add it through COM ADD-IN list in Excel Manually.
Appreciate any idea's and suggestion's.
P.S
is it possible to make it completely installed per system rather having user entries?

Guys, I think I solved the
issue:
Symptoms
1. Power Pivot SQL 2012 32-bit installed over the old version without
deinstalling it
2. Installed with a user with administrator rights
3. It worked under the profile with admin rights, it didn't work under the
normal users w/o admin rights and threw this error message: Downloading file.///c:/Program files (x86)/Microsoft analysis services/AS Excel Client/10/Microsoft.AnalysisServices.XLHost.Addin.VSTO
did not succeed.
4. In the admin profile, it went to the path "110": C:/Program
Files (x86)/Microsoft Analysis Services/AS Excel
Client/110/Microsoft.AnalysisServices.Modeler.FieldList.vsto
5. In the normal profile, it went to the - wrong - "10" path:

Analysis
IMHO the issue lies in the fact, that the Power Pivot
installer creates two problems:
The first issue is that the path to the add-in under
the NORMAL user is simply wrong and points to a wrong location (the
"10" in the path). In the admin profile, where it was originally
installed, it points to the "110" path which is correct.
The second issue is that the installation procedure
somehow needs to create a registry key (the one under point 4 in the solution)
to complete it self and if this key already exists it fails to install and
throws up weird error messages. If you delete or rename this key, it is created
again (exactly in the same way) but then everything works out.

BI Publisher Template Builder for Excel

I re-installed Oracle BI publisher desktop 11.1.1.7.0 32bit on my computer (Windows 7, Office Pro Plus 2010)
Before the re-installation, I could access the BI Publisher tab in the ribbon for Word and Excel. Now, since the re-install, I can't acces the tab.
I made sure Analyzer for Excel was removed before installing the new version.
The version of BI Publisher Enterprise that we are running is 11.1.1.5.0
Someone has a clue why i'm unable to acces the tab?

I looked in the Add-ins and tried to enable BI publisher template builder, but no success.
I checked the case to load at Startup, closed Word and Excel, even rebooted my computer... still, the tab doesn't show up. I can see it's in my list of add-ins, but for some reason, I can't enable it.

TS1702 Spreadsheet app for excel - can't find it now in the store ???

A few years ago I DL'd a spreadsheet app (for excel). Believe it was Free. When I tried to install the app on my iPhone 4s (had a 3GS) it would open then immediately close. It's logo was the white Sum symbol over a blue background. Can't find it now in the app store. It was better than others I've seen. I have files that I'd like to continue to use on the 4S but I need to resolve the app issue. Since I can't open the app, I can't see who the developer is so I can contact them. Any help would be appreciated. Please respond

The Mountain Lion installer is stored in Applications. Open a Finder window, choose Applications in the sidebar, double-click the OS X Mountain Lion installer and follow the steps.

Which TDM Addin for Excel 2007?

I downloaded what I think is the latest TDM add-in for excel 2007. When I go to open my file a message comes up saying that my file has more than 65000 rows. I know the limitation is not in excel 2007. Will the add-in only load 65000 rows of data?

You may want to check the specs on the trial version of excel 2007 that you have. Did you get this from the web? I don't know if Microsoft would do this, but sometimes the trial software won't have all of the features of the full version. I just installed the addin on my machine with full version of excel 2007 and was able to open a TDM file with a million random numbers stored in it.
A good way to test this would be to just create a spreadsheet file with 100,000 numbers in it, then try to open that in excel just to see if it throws the same error. That would eliminate the possibility of the addin being to blame. If the file opens without error, then you may want to check that the addin was installed correctly by referencing the KB linked above.
