Check if num of records returned in report exceed the excel row limit?

I developed a custom oracle report (6i - rdf). Created a template using BI, loaded the xml output and I can preview the output nicely in pdf/excel format through template.
I register the report in conc program and do all the setup for this report. create data definition and template in xml pub . run it from con programs and it gives a neat output in pdf. I want to see the output in excel format, so I change the options before running the report and select format as excel and then run the report. somehow I get this error :
REP-3000: Internal error starting Oracle Toolkit.
How can I check if the number of rows returned by the report is not exceeding the nmber of rows in excel ?
Thanks

can you truncate the data in query result set?
Note:
This limitation is there in Office 2003 and below.
Office 2007 ++ , this is not an issue.

  • Filtering a Report on the active record of another Report on the same page

    Hello,
I have a Form and Report on the same page in an APEX app. The interactive report is used for sorting/filtering etc. and the Form is used to present the data for one record at a time, as well as allow updates in selected fields. This was done using the wizards, the little 'edit' button is clicked to change the form to the selected record.
I also have (or want to have) a second non-interactive report on the page, which displays some records based on the record of the main report that is currently selected and appearing in the form.
I tried doing a simple 'SELECT fields WHERE link field is equal to main report', but it always says no data found.
Basically, I need to be able to have a query for the second report that says 'SELECT these fields WHERE the site is equal to the site currently being displayed in the form'.
When the little pencil/paper 'edit' button is clicked on a report, does this set some ActiveRow or something like this that I can use to filter the second report?
As you can tell from this post, I am in my database skill infancy, and any literature/pointers on how to achieve this (outside of MS ACCESS...) would be appreciated.

Okay, I have somewhat got my head around Column Links, and have put the key link field into the URL:
The value is P4_MDF, and in this URL example it has taken the value of 'WLAH01'
    f?p=880:4:3924084145794812::NO::P4_MDF,P4_ESA_CODE,P4_SITE_NAME:WLAH01%2CWLAH%2CWYRALLAH
Now I just need to work out how to use this value in the URL to filter the classic report.
    I have used this query:
    SELECT *
    FROM
    "MACHINE_INFO"
    WHERE CCP = :P4_MDF
As CCP in the report im trying to filter is the same as MDF in the IR that I am clicking the Column Link
This is the Debug for the 2nd 'filtered' report (which filters everything)
    0.09: show report
    0.09: determine column headings
    0.09: parse query as: EXPAT
    0.09: binding: ":P4_MDF"="P4_MDF" value="WLAH01"
    0.09: print column headings
    0.09: rows loop: 15 row(s)
I'm slowly getting the hang of this, any assistance would be great!

I want to input two values, AWG and mils and return the value in the Days column.
In the instance of what I am showing ....   AWG=2 AND mils=320 so Soak=110 ....
I want to search the columns (AWG) AND (mils) to return a value in the column (Days) for that row into cell H10 (Soak)  ...
So far I have toyed with LOOKUP, INDEX and MATCH ....

    SCW,
I'm sure there is a clever way to cascade functions to avoid adding an auxiliary column in your practice table, but to me it wouldn't be worth the aggravation. I would add a column that concatenates Columns A & B, AWG & mils. This column can be anywhere and would be Hidden. Let's say your new column is Column N.
In Column N, fill the body rows with:
    =A&"-"&B
As good Numbers programming form would indicate, let's name the Practice Table Practices and only put the practices in that table. In another table where you do the lookup, let's call it Program, we will have the calculation/lookup.
Based on your example, I'd guess that AWG may be in Column D and mils in Column E of your Program table, and the Soak lookup in Column F. If I'm wrong, adjust the column id.
    In Column F, write:
    =OFFSET(Practices::I$1,MATCH(D&"-"&E, Practices::N,0)−1, 0)
The hyphen in the concatenated representation of the combination of AWG and mils is just tp make it more readable.
As I'm sure you know, you could use other approaches, but since I had you put your aux column at the end of your Practices table, OFFSET with MATCH is a clean approach. INDEX could be used too.
    Here's an illustration:

  • New to Crystal, seeing duplicate records in my report of the same field

    CA Forum: General
I am new to Crystal Reports 10.   I am having to use it with Rational ClearQuest and I am seeing the same problem over and over again and I am hoping someone can help!
Some reports I have created the records in clearquest are displaying only once.   I have started a new report in crystal and for some reason when I perform the report query in rational one record is displaying 2 to three and sometimes four times even though in the database there is only one record.  I have seen this in other reports I have created but I attributed it to multiple values in one field.
Any help on fixing this would be greatly appreciated, I have tried the Suppress Duplicates but it doesn't seem to help except hiding something I need.

I agree with SKodidine - check your joins and selections to make sure that all variations are taken care of. Here's a simplified version of one that I messed around with for ages when I started on CR:
    Table 1 - TRANSACTIONS, Item, date, warehouse, qtyITEMA   AUCKLAND          01/01/07    15ITEMA   AUCKLAND          20/01/07    10ITEMA   CHRISTCHURCH  31/01/07    25ITEMA   OTAGO                15/01/07     5
Table 2 - ITEM MASTER, Item, descriptionITEMA   WINDOW FRAME
Table 3 - ITEM/WAREHOUSE MASTER, Item, warehouse, ABC Class, unit costITEMA   AUCKLAND         MEDIUM USAGE  $5.00ITEMA   CHRISTCHURCH  HIGH USAGE       $5.05ITEMA   OTAGO  LOW      USAGE                $5.00
The report was to show:Item, description, date, qty, movement cost
    My joins were:Table 1 - Table 2 on itemTable 1 - Table 3 on item
    What I got out was:ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   01/01/07   15   $75.00ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   01/01/07   15   $75.75ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   01/01/07   15   $75.00ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   20/01/07   10   $50.00ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   20/01/07   10   $50.50ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   20/01/07   10   $50.00ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   31/01/07   25   $125.00ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   31/01/07   25   $126.50ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   31/01/07   25   $125.00ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   15/01/07    5    $25.00ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   15/01/07    5    $25.25ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   15/01/07    5    $25.00
Because I didn't make the warehouse part of my Table 1 - Table 3 join, I got a report line for every warehouse in the Table 3 file.
So I changed my joins to:Table 1 - Table 2 on itemTable 1 - Table 3 on item and warehouse
    What I got out was:ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   01/01/07   AUCKLAND          15    $75.00ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   20/01/07   AUCKLAND          10    $50.00ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   31/01/07   CHRISTCHURCH   25   $126.50ITEMA   WINDOW FRAME   15/01/07   OTAGO                  5   $25.00
    Hope the example helps.

  • Showing Duplicate records in a report with the count of their occurrence

    Hi Members,
I am novice to BI. i need your suggestion to achiever one of the functionality. A report is required to be built with columns Incident ID, Task ID, Task Name. The Original report is below:-
In the above report I have to display only duplicated records once. Distincat records are not required to be shown. That is, if the same no. of Task Name is associated with the same Incident ID then it should be displayed once with the count of their occurrences in a separate column say , Count. For example, the Task 'TASK_MANUAL_KCI'  got 4 times associated with the same Incident ID INC000000001434. Then the report should display this task one time in a report with count 4. Similarly, for INC000000000943 where task 'IPCG Diagnostic Template' got associated 2 times. The Count is 2 for this task.
Other records should not be displayed in a report.
Would highly appreciate quick response. Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Neha Pateria

I tried this Gill, but result is bit different :-
Seems some little modifications are needed. Report should be displayed like the below one where it says how many times the same Task is associated with the same incident. Eg. Task 'TASK_CIRCUIT_RESOLVER' is associated with the incident 'INC000000001434' 4 times. 'IPCG Diagnostic Template' is associated with  'INC000000000943' 2 times. Similarly for other records.
But I really thankful to you for giving me the logic proceed further. I tried  '=RunningCount([Task Name]; Row; ([Task Name]; [Incident ID]))'. It gave me desired results. :-
But the only thing that needs to be done is to bring the single Task associated with the Incident..
    Thanks,
    Neha Pateria

  • Find(String pkey) method returns multiple object of the same row

I'm not quite sure what i've done or havent done, but I've implemented updating a row using the em.persist(Object) method.....works great, but after i did that a few times the find(String pkey) method returns multiple copies of 1 row in the db
here are two rows in the db
    personid(PK) firstName lastName
    1234 joe jones
    2345 rachel jones
when i execute any query looking for people with the last name jones, ie
    select object(p) from Person p where p.lastName='jones'
it returns multiple objects of each row ie
    1234 joe jones
    1234 joe jones
    1234 joe jones
    1234 joe jones
    2345 rachel jones
    2345 rachel jones
    2345 rachel jones
    2345 rachel jones
There is only one row for both rachel and joe in the db, but why is the entity manager returning multiple objects of each, and how do i prevent that without using DISTINCT?
Thanks for the help in advance

Sorry, i forgot to mention i'm using ejb 3 and jboss

  • Pass Records to Oracle Reports

    Hi,
Lets say that I've already fetched a set of records on Oracle Form, I want to pass these records to a Report " on the Report I don't wana use range or where clause to give me these records"
In other way I just want to pass these records on the reports.
Any ideas how to do that please?
    Thanks!

    Francesco,
If you need to send output to the cache, the easiest way to do this is to use the UTL_HTTP package in the database to request a report using a URL just as you would do in a browser. By submitting the request to the report server, you can execute these requests in parallel (unlike srw.run_report, which runs one thing at a time) and also control resource consumption.
If you output the data in XML format, Reports won't generate an empty page for output. (On the other hand, it will generate a file containing XML....)
    Hope this helps,
    Stewart

  • 10000 row limit in Portal Reports

    Portal Team,
Will the 10000 row limit be ever removed
from the Portal Reports ? This limit
is pretty silly (at least let the developers set a limit, instead of hard coding it )
    thanks

    Bala,
    3.0.7.6.2 on NT.
My question doesn't pertain to number of rows on a page. It pertains to the total number of rows that a query will return i.e if you have a table with 11,0000 records your query will return only 10,000 (or 10001) records.
My query in SQL*PLus returns more than
10,000 rows (okay I did not spool the output, just did a count(*) ). The same query
minus the count(*), but with columns , as a report gave 10001 rows. I base this on the following: The total row count on the report says Rows 1 to <n> of 10001. I must admit that I did not have the patience to paginate through to the end to see if 10,000 was the limit. I did go back to the wwv_advanced* package in WebDB (since its code is unwrapped) and saw that there was a global variable g_max_rows with a value of 10000.
Not sure if this is carried over to Portal.
The *render_report package in WebDB does a
check to see if total row count is >= to g_max_rows or the dyn. sql cursor returned nothing. This is a prob.
    Would appreciate some feedback,
    Thanks

  • Send Report Output to Excell?

    Hi all,
can anyone say me, how can I send the output of Report to the Excell Worksheet?

    Hi Leonid,
    you can try this:
    In AFTERPARAMETERFORM trigger:
    myfile TEXT_IO.FILE_TYPE;
    begin
    myfile := TEXT_IO.FOPEN(:DESNAME, 'W');
    TEXT_IO.PUT(myfile, 'first column heading');
    TEXT_IO.PUT(myfile, chr(9));

    TEXT_IO.PUT(myfile, :column1);
    TEXT_IO.PUT(myfile, chr(9));

  • Crystal Reports 2008 and Excel data source

I want to use a large Excel-sheet (with 139569 lines) as a data source for a report. Crystal Reports 2008 only seems to accept Excel sheets as a data source if they are stored in Excel 97-2003 format. But, then there is a limit of 65536 lines and I miss more than half of the data I need to process. Does anyone have an idea how I can solve this problem??

    Hello,
No work around in CR when connecting to xls files. CR can only use xls files which has the 65K row limit. Our next version does support xlxs files though. Cr for VS 2010 is available, no Designer outside of the IDE though. CR 2011 is still in beta and no release data announced yet.
For now all you can do is limit your sheets to 65k or export your XLS files to Access, must also be an MDB file type, not the new extended type. Once in an Access database now you can use it as your data sources.
You can use a temp database so it gets destroyed each time or simple delete all records. Up to you how to manage it.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Reporting out multiple lookup rows for one fact row. NON-Aggregating

    Hi,
I have a situation where I have multiple Look Up rows for one fact row. I want to report them out so that I get One row with the Look Up and Fact information in it and the next row with Just the Look Up information in it.
The version of Oracle I'm using is 9.2.0.6.0.
    Look Up Table
Deal Order Number     Partial Order ID     INVENTORY_ITEM_ID     MANUFACTURER_DESCRIPTION
    639416-1                1                     43601                     Check Point
    639416-1                1                     98809                      Nokia
    637260-1                 1                     56657                   IBM
    637260-1                 1                     35467                   QuantumFact Table
Deal Order Number     Partial Order ID     Cost
    639416-1                 1                     3825.3
    637260-1                  1                   3610.8Desired result:
Deal Order Number     Partial Order ID     MANUFACTURER_DESCRIPTION     Cost
    639416-1                    1                        Check Point            3825.3
    639416-1                     1                         Nokia
    637260-1                     1                         Ibm                   3610.8
637260-1                     1                         QuantumBasically I'd like the ability to report out every row of my report with the first row containing the Fact Data and then the following rows containing the Look Up data that are also associated with that fact column but not report the data.
I'm doing this because there's Grand totaling at the bottom of the report that I don't want to mess with.
Plus instead of concatenating the Look Up values together, I need to show them in their own cells in their own rows for view ability.
I think an Analytic function might take care of this but I'm not sure how. Can anyone help?
    Thanks in Advance!

    Hi,
Join the two tables as you normally would.
You're right about analytic functions being useful. The anaylytic ROW_NUMBER function can number each row of the join, with a separate count for each unique id from lookup.
Use a CASE statement to display certain items from fact when ROW_NUMBER retuns 1, and hide them otherwise.
    SELECT     f.order_number
    ,     f.partial_order_number
    ,     l.manufacturer_description
    ,     CASE
              WHEN     ROW_NUMBER () OVER
                        ( PARTITION BY     f.order_number
                          ,          f.partial_order_number
                          ORDER BY     l.manufacturer_description
                        ) = 1
              THEN     cost
         END     AS cost_col
    FROM     fact     f
    JOIN     lookup     l     ON     f.order_number          = l.order_number
                   AND     f.partial_order_number     = l.partial_order_number
    ORDER BY     f.order_number
    ,          f.partial_order_number
    ,          l.manufacturer_description
    ;
