Check image resolution and color

Please let me know whether it is possible to get the image resolution and color used in a eps file.
regards,
Sashi

You can specify the resolution for exporting, for document etc but resolution of the raster objects can not be retrieved.
Color space of the raster object can be retrieved using the rasterItems : colorants or imageColorSpace properties

  • Original Image Resolution and Color getting Distorted

    Hi All,
    I am using JAI for reading images from a source i have to read the images and than have to split the images
    initially i was using ImageIO.read() method to read images but for some images it was throwing error as
    javax.imageio.IIOException: Unsupported Image Type

         at deepzoomconvertor.Main.main(Main.java:86)so in such exception cases i am trying to read the images using JAI and i am successful in reading images
    here is the piece of code i am using for this
      BufferedImage result = null;
       SeekableStream ss=SeekableStream.wrapInputStream(new FileInputStream(file), false);
               ParameterBlock pb = new ParameterBlock();
               pb.add(ss);
               RenderedOp rm=JAI.create("JPEG", pb);
               result=rm.getAsBufferedImage();
                 return result;it able to split images but the quality of images are poor it losts its original color format.
    can any one have any idea how to do it while retaining the quality of image color and resolution
    Thanks in advance
    Umesh

    The JPEG you are reading is a cmyk color space one. They're not common, but they do occasionally pop up in a collection of random jpeg images.
    The default JPEGImageReader that comes with the jdk cannot read them. And it will throw an exception - the exact same one you got - stating it can't. JAI's behavior is a little worse. It will read the image without exception, when in fact it to can't read it. It doesn't handle the cmyk aspect right, so you get a messed up image.
    The native JPEGImageReader that comes with installing [JAI-ImageIO|https://jai-imageio.dev.java.net/binary-builds.html] can read them. It appropriately decodes the ICC_Profile embedded within the JPEG and you get a cmyk BufferedImage. But if you wish to render this TYPE_CUSTOM BufferedImage, go grab a coffee while you wait for it to slooooowwwllly paint. You'll have to do a ColorConverOp to turn the cmyk BufferedImage into an rgb one (so Java2D can render it fast).
    Having done all this you'll find that 1) ColorConvertOp makes the image too bright and 2) The native PNGImageReader that comes with installing JAI-ImageIO has an affinity for returning TYPE_CUSTOM BufferedImages (arggg!!!).
    I'll help you fix points (1) and (2) if you get that far. Maybe the best choice is to simply give up on cmyk jpegs. They're only used in printing press environments, and people only use color space aware applications (like Photoshop) to manipulate them in any meaningful way.

  • Access image size and color profile

    Hi all,
    Is it possible to access image size and color profile ? If not, will it be possible in CS6 ?
    Thanks.

    Load the external XMP library and get it from that?

  • Exported Raw Conversion Image Resolution and Assigning a Color Profile, etc

    In Aperture 1.1, although I set the exported Raw conversion image resolution to 300 dpi in the preferences, it continues to come out at 72 dpi which is something of an inconvenience. Also, is it possible to assign a color profile to the "exported version" so that it is congruent to my PS CS2 color workspace (if that is what its called). Is this program capable of carrying out a conversion as a background operation? Finally, can the layout windows be configured so that they remember how they have been used in the past? Thanks.

    Iatrogenic huh! Cool!
    Anyway, I'm not real clear on what it is you are trying to accomplish. Despite your obvious vocabulary skills, there seems to be some disconnect relative to what you are trying to accomplish. You are right that "exporting a version" in Aperture is roughly equivalent to what happens in ACR when you "Open" a RAW image into Photoshop. In both cases you have, hopefully, already done the adjusting of parameters you want prior to "exporting", or "opening". When you "open" or "export" you wind up with an "image" composed of pixels, whereas in the RAW adjustment phase you are just working with a temporary thumbnail and a set of mathematical instructions. Big difference, I suppose is that when you "open" and image from ACR into CS2, the resulting image is truly just pixels and has not had a "file type" applied to the file yet, until you "save" it, while in Aperture, if you "export" a file to CS2, or to the desktop, you end up with the file type already applied. Presuming you "export" a 16 bit TIFF or PSD, there is no operational difference.
    I could be wrong, but with the new Bayer Demosaicing algorithms in Aperture 1.1, and the Camera RAW adjustments, you should be able to come up with an adjusted image that is VERY close if not identical to one done in ACR, with the possible exception of lens abberation adjustment. I was very critical of the RAW adjustments in 1.0.1, but I am very happy with the capabilites in 1.1. That said, I think there is still some room for improvement in user friendliness of some of the adjustments such as Levels.

  • Checking Image Size and Dimensions

    How do I check the size of an image like a Signature or another image without having to save it and then checking it? Is there a way to check it in Safari?

    What? I don't see "Inspect Element" anywhere.
    Are there any plugins (perhaps at pimpmysafari.com) where we can add functions such as "Properties" for viewing image size and dimensions, as well as "View Image" to view the image by itself? I'm trying to convert from Firefox, but these are a couple of the things getting in the way.

  • Image resolution and ipad3 retina

    I have just screenshot an ipad home screen from an ipad3 (with app buttons etc) and wish to place this into indesign as a mockup for a client.
    I have tried so many variations on resolution in Photoshop, making sure its placed in at 100% in indesign but it never looks crisp?
    Any suggestions on resolution and pixel size would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Nick.

    Thanks for your reponse Bob,
    The image is fine in photoshop and a little worse in Indesign (display performance: High Quality), but when viewed on an ipad3 retina it isn't as hi-res?
    The image I screen shot is 2048x1536. Placed in an Indesign 1024x768 document at 50% with Actual 72ppi and Effective 144ppi.
    Is there something I'm missing?
    Thanks,

  • Photoshop PDF resolution and color space difference: Acrobat vs. Photoshop?

    I have received several Photoshop PDFs from different sources. In Acrobat, the document properties indicate the PDF producer as Adobe Photoshop for macintosh -- Image Conversion Plug-in. When checking the image either with PitStop or through Photoshop via Acrobat's Touch up object tool, the image shows as a 100 dpi RGB image. If the PDF is opened directly in Photoshop, Photoshop indicates it is 300 dpi and CMYK.
    Does anyone know why there is this difference? Also what is the Image Conversion Plug-in and how does it work?

    Ah, sorry; in that case possibly the Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities-button was hit (thus including the original psd-file) but a low-res-pdf-setting selected.
    In which case the original data would appear to be CMYK and of a higher resolution that the pdf-images.

  • Quality -- resolution and color

    Greetings,
    I burn DVDs often and find that always the resolution is blocky and far below the DVD standard 720 x 480. Is this just the nature of this technology, or can I do something different?
    Also, do you all boost your color and or diminish your luminance in Final Cut before compressing and burning DVDs? If so, is there a set of values to use in the Color Correction filters? I always see a more burned out picture after processing of video for DVD.
    My process is:
    Edit video in Final Cut Pro -- Original footage is DV or XDCAM 1280 x 720p (16:9)
    Save as Quicktime file
    Import to DVD SP
    Build and Format using DVD SP default compression
    Play in Apple DVD Player
    If this has been covered, please point me
    Many thanks!

    David,
    Thanks a lot. now I realize my bit rate is set to 4.0, that could be causing the blockiness.
    I googled around and found that a bit rate of 9.3 for all data, video and audio, is going to play on most DVD players. (but I doubt it)
    I hate finishing a project and mailing disks and having a client call and complain that his DVD is skipping or freezing.
    I will move to Compressor and experiment.
    I am interested in what anyone else calls a best "bit rate" and a "highest bit rate"
    Second question though is anyone tweaking their video in Final Cut to make it look better on a DVD--namely bringing down the luminance? I have done this, but it is difficult to maintain two video sequences of the same program when it is evolving.

  • Losing resolution and color profile if I drag to desktop

    Why?

  • How to check image size and 500PX upload action please!

    Hi,
    Two questions please.
    1. How do you check the overall size of an image in Lightroom 4 before exporting.  In Photoshop it is image/size so what is it in Lightroom please?
    2. I have Canon raw files and tiffs and want to upload to 500PX and other web site galleries in one action.  Is it possible?  How do you set up an action to convert an image, say a tiff, to a certain size and then save as a jpeg and upload to 500pX using the plugin all in one action?  At the moment I am saving the tiff as a jpeg to a correct size using a pre set, but then exporting to another folder ready to either manually upload or re-import to Lightroom as a jpeg then upload. Surely there is a quicker way than this?

    1. The size is visible in the metadata panel, set the dropdown to EXIF. In addition, in the Grid, with Ctrl-J, you can set the options so that you will see the cropped size in the rectangle surrounding the photo.
    2. You cannot, in one action, upload to multiple galleries. Each upload is its own action. I don't know if there is a plug-in to let you upload from LR to 500px in one action; clearly there are plug-ins for Flickr and Smugmug and several others. There should be no need to re-import. Normally, the plug-ins I mentioned will take a TIFF, resize it according to your directions, convert to JPG and upload.

  • Image size and Color Adjustments

    I know for sharpening purposes, it's best to sharpen an image the size it is going to print. But is the same true for white balance/color corrections, contrast and tonal adjustments?

    Not in the same way. Color adjustments are not size dependent, but you may well want to have a slightly different look for the same image printed large and small - take advantage of the relative merits of each size of reproduction. For instance, you may want to have a slightly contrastier image for something printed the size of a business card and emphasize more of the intricate highlight and shadow detail for a poster of the same image.

  • Chrome and Safari image alignment and color problems after upgrading to 10.8

    I have just upgraded from lion to mountain lion with a clean install. My website davidandora.com now displays image sliced improperly aligned in chrome and with slightly adjusted colors on some slices in Safari. They appear fine in the same version browsers on Macbook also running the most current mac OS. I suspect this is not a browser problem since there are issues with both browsers, but what could be causing this? I have run all updates on my computer and browsers.
    Checkout this address for a clear example in both browsers:

    and this image for what I am seeing:

    I will add that the current Firefox is displaying everything correctly. So strange.

  • Windows XP Pro Desktop - Screen Resolution and Color Quality - After Palm 6.2 Installation for Palm TX

    Recently upgraded my Palm software to 6.2. for my TX.  Now when I sync to Outlook, my windows desktop reverts to lower quality screen resolution (640 x 480 pixels) and lower color quality (8 bit).
    I then make the necessary display changes for my windows desktop back to higher quality screen resolution (1280 x 800 pixels) and highest color quality (32 bit).  Everything is fine until I sync again or shut down the computer and restart, causing the windows desktop to revert back to the lower quality screen.
    Any thoughts on possible solutions to this annoying problem.
    Thank you

    Hello!
    First thing to do is to update the display driver for your computer.  Also make sure to use 96 DPI for the DPI setting, using another setting can cause this issue too.
