Check marks on library items

Hello.
This might sound like a basic matter, but I don't understand the use of the check marks on the small squares on the second column for each item on my library list.
I can select the usual way, i.e., click on the first line and if I need to select a group of items that are next to each other, I press the "capitals" key and click on the last item, and if I need to select a group of items scattered around, I just click on each one keeping "ctrl" pressed.
So, what is the use of the check marks, and why are all of the items on my library checked by default?

If you have "Sync only checked items" selected in your iPod sync settings, unchecked songs will not sync. Also, unchecked songs will not play unless you specifically select them and press play. So, if you have a playlist with unchecked songs in it and you play the playlist, iTunes will skip the unchecked songs.
Mostly, I only use it to keep my holiday songs out of the way during the rest of the year. I don't find that unchecking songs alone is a useful tool in choosing what to sync to my iPods.

Hi Tomi,
Great question. Yes, you can do what you want with run-time shortcut menus in LabVIEW 8.0. If you want to dynamically modify the menu content, you have to do it in the "Shortcut Menu Activation?" event in the facade VI of the XControl. In the event data for this event is a parameter called "MenuRef" which works with the same menu primitives that have been around since LabVIEW 5 for editing the menu bar at run-time.
With these primitives, you can add/delete/modify menu items to the shortcut menu. The items that are already in the MenuRef when this event case executes are always the ones that are statically defined, either by LabVIEW or by customizing them. You do not have control over the state of the items that LabVIEW adds, but you can remove them and add ones with the same text (just with a different tag). In your case, you would probably want to use the Insert Menu Item primitive to add an item such as "Toggle State". Give it a tag such as "USER_TOGGLE_STATE". Then you'll want to use the Set Menu Item Info primitive to set the checkmark for that item based on the state of the XControl.
Then, you'll need to add an event case for the "Shortcut Menu Selection (User)" event so you can handle the item being selected. Wire the Item Tag parameter from the event data to a case structure and add a case to look for "USER_TOGGLE_STATE". And in that case, toggle the state of your XControl. That's all you need to do!
The Dual Mode Thermomter shipping example in <LabVIEW 8.0>\examples\general\xcontrols\Dual Mode Thermometer\Simple Dual Mode Thermometer XControl.lvproj is a simple example of how you can modify the menu and respond to the items selected. It's a little different than what you want to do, but it might help you to look at it.

Setting check mark for SelectManyCheckbox item

I'm trying to set the check mark for a SelectManyCheckbox item from a backing bean and cannot find any explicit explanation or example to do this. This would be used to have a command button select all checkboxes and a command button to clear all checkboxes.
I've been trying to set the SelectItem value, but while log messages suggest what is desired has occurred, nothing visually changes. Here's the key parts of what I'm working with so far.

the arrayList you suggest doesn't even contain these items.You have to prefill the patientsSelected yourself to mark preselected items.

You uncheck the music in your iTunes library on your computer and along with sync only checked songs and videos selected under the Summary selection for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, only checked songs in your iTunes library will be transferred to your iPhone or remain on your iPhone and the unchecked songs in your iTunes library that are currently on your iPhone will be removed when syncing.
Or make use of iTunes playlists and choose selected playlists, albums, artists under the Music selection for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and select the playlists below that you want transferred to your iPhone.

I am trying to backup my Itunes onto my external hard drive. I am at the step where I on Itunes, click on File - Library - Organize library. I am suppose to check mark both boxes there, It won't allow me to check mark the second box, why? How to fix this.

Well you must have made a mistake somewhere. The last instruction of step four reads:
When you've found your iTunes library folder, drag that folder to your external hard drive. This will begin the iTunes backup. The amount of time the backup will take depends on the size of your library. When the transfer is done, your backup is complete and your external hard drive can be disconnected.
Normally dragging content from to a new location on a different drive will result in a copy action which is what you were supposed to do. At a guess you somehow managed to move the iTunes folder. Then when you started iTunes it created a new blank library for you assuming it had just been installed rather that raising a warning.
Close iTunes. Rename the iTunes folder on the internal drive as iTunes (Empty) then copy the iTunes folder from the external back into the User's Music folder. Start iTunes. All should be well.
When you've made sure it all works please read my User Tip and use that method to backup in future. Since you already have a folder with the backup in place you can skip the "Make New" operation in the fourth step and simply choose the external folder.

Clear/Open Item Symbol Green Check Mark

SAP Gurus,
I am running report FBL3N, for a clearing account, under clear/open item symbols instead of seeing a red dot or green dot, i see a check a mark. Does anyone knows what this green check mark means, and how can I clear the items?

Right now client has the accounts set-up as Line Item Display ( ALL OF TEH G/L ACCOUNTS), if I check open line item, when I save I get an error, saying there are errors. When I pull the long text to see the message of the error, it tells me,the message below. It apepars I have to create new accounts and then transfer the items to the new account is that true? or is there another way to fix this. I thought that by just checking the open item management option was sufficient.

How to use the check mark symbol in my library, how to use the check mark symbol in my library

at times when I am moving around in my iTunes library, on windows 7 64 bit computer, i alter the check marks that are in the library. I don't know exactly how I turn them off . ow can I deliberately turn them on & off en-mass? Is there a tutorial that would give me as much info as possible in utilising them? Ctrl-click on an empty box to check them all or vice-versa. If you don't have a use for them turn them off (Edit > Preferences > General > Show list checkboxes). I use them to make iTunes exclude stuff like bonus interview tracks from my devices and normal album playback.

Search InDesign help for "change bullet characters" (without quotes,) and use the technique described there with the Zapf Dingbat font as suggested by Peter S.
You can also use InDesign's glyphs panel (Window > Type & Tables > Glyphs) to scroll through all the character sets in all the fonts that InDesign has access to on your system, to look for check mark characters.
After you have created a paragraph style that applies the customized check-mark-bullet that you want, every time you apply that paragraph style, the custom bullet appears. So, while it's a few steps to set up the style the first time, from then on it's automatic.
If you really need a particular bullet that's not in any font you have, you'll need to search for fonts that have check mark characters and buy one or use a free one. Caution: free fonts aren't always created to the same strict standards that commercial fonts from reputable font foundries observe; free fonts sometimes cause problems when printing or exporting to PDF. You can search Google for "fonts with check mark" (without quotes.)

How do I put a check mark to all the songs in the library/

somehow this morning after deleting voice memos from the iTunes library i noticed that all my songs became de-checked. Which means they won't play until i put a check mark in the check mark column. How do I check them all ?

Here's the scenario:
We're using check in /check out - DW 8.02
My co-worker makes changes to several files
I take a look at them on the site, they look fine.
Now she checks in everything.
I make changes to a library item (menu) that affects the
whole site. The library dialog asks me if I want to check out the
files, I say "yes to all".
I wait a long time while the files are all checked out and
changed (500 files).
Looks Okay, so I, folder by folder, check them in again (I
didn't use syncronize)
and her changes are gone. Mine are fine.
All I can think of is that DW used my local copies of the
files instead of bringing down the ones on the server, even though
it looked like they were being checked out. Why? What would cause
this?

The workflow could not check out the list item.

Hi Guys,
I have a workflow enabled on document library and it needs to started manually.
Whenever user starts workflow manually, gets following error:
"the workflow could not check out the list item. Make sure the list item is not checked out." list item is not checked out & this workflow was working smoothly earlier.
OutCome: The workflow operation failed because the workflow lookup found no matching item.

maybe check out for editing documents setting is turned on so wokrflow needs doc to ce cheked out before proceding and user might not have permission to do that.

Check marks, symbols... some songs have them some don't want do they mean

I have purchased a few songs from the iTunes Store, copied some from CDs etc. Some of the songs have check marks some don't, some have this "radio like signal" in front of them some don't. What do these things mean? My real problem is, is that I can copy the songs with the "radio like signal sign" in front of them to my ipod but the others I can't copy or move anywhere, not playlists or on to my ipod. What am I doing incorrectly? Help!

The check boxes have a number of uses: iTunes: Understanding the Symbols Next to Songs
Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on.
Smart Playlists have an option that unchecked songs won't appear.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.
The iPod has an option to only sync checked songs
The Genius & iTunes DJ features will ignore unchecked songs
Basically unchecking is a way of telling iTunes to ignore the item and exclude it from other automatic features.

InDesign CS4 Library- can't get library items on to pages

I'm fairly new to InDesign CS4.
A book I'm reading has a tutorial telling me to drag library items from the library to a page.
This is a library that the book author created that came with the book.
However, I can't get material from the library to any of the pages.
Anytime I try dragging any of the images or other items from the library to my page in InDesign CS4, I get a small "No" symbol (a circle with a slash through it).
So I clicked on the image in the library that I wanted to add to the page, and using both the content menu (and later, the library panel's menu) to select "Place Item," nothing happened.
How do I get content in a library on to a page?
Dragging and using "Place Item" are not working for me.

If I understand you correctly, this is what I did:
I "right" clicked on the Library file icon on my hard drive, called "Healthy Pets CS4."
This brought up a context menu.
From there, I went to "Properties."
Under "Properties" > "Attributes," "Read only" is not checked off, nor is "hidden" checked off.
In the "Healthy Pets CS4 Properties" dialog box, I then clicked on the the "Security" tab, which brought up all sorts of stuff about permissions, read /write, etc.
I guess I should mention at this point that I'm on a computer running Windows Vista, since this might be pertinent to my issue (?)
Although it's my computer, it has me on here as two different people (I'm on as Administrator and under my first name, which let's just say is "Graphics Cuddly Bear.")
On the "Security" tab page of the dialog box is a heading called "Group or user names," and from there, depending on which name you pick from the user names, different options get high lighted in the ""Permissions for Authenticated Users" box below it.
So, under "Permissions for Authenticated Users" (when the users "Autheticated Users" and "Admins" are selected) the following are checked off with a check mark,
(as if to say, "These are the things you have permissions to do with this file"):
Modify
Read and Execute
Read
Write
The only things I do not have permissions for when I check off "Administrator" on that list is "Special Permissions."
When AU (Autheticated Users) is checked it says I do not have "Full Control" or "Special Permissions."
However, when I clicked on my name (GCB - "Graphics Cuddly Bear") under the heading of "Group of user names," these two things are the only ones checked off:
Read and Execute
Read
So I went in to another area of this box and gave my account ("GCB") the "Write" ability.
When I went back to the box, a check mark next to "Write" then appeared. So it appears to be telling me that under GCB, I can now write to that file.
So when I opened and closed out of InDesign and re-opened it, it still will not allow me to drag the files/text/images from the library.
I still get the little "No" symbol.
It also still will not let me use the "place" command, either.
I've gone ahead and worked thorugh this chapter without being able to use the author's library items, but it makes working on her tutorials very difficult.
And it's rather pointless, since the entire chapter is about how to use the software's library.
I got a response from the book's publisher (Delmar / Cengage) to ask them for help, if they would provide me with working copies of the files, or some other work around, and they were NOT the least bit helpful.
A representative from Delmar/ Cengage e-mailed me to say that because I purchased the book at Amazon's site (rather than from them directly) that they would not help me, which I thought was cruddy and not classy.
I don't see that it entirely matters where I bought the book from; they're the ones who made it.

Whats the check mark for?

cant find this answer anywhere. in the movie or tv show window, second column from the left shows a check mark at the column top, and some shows/movies have a check and others do not. what does the check mark mean?

thats what I thought, but the check marks Im talking about are on the library pages. I check the items to sync on the Ipad interface. Are you saying the items not checked will not be available to sync in the Ipad interface? In other words, if I dont check it in the library interface, I cannot sync it in the ipad interface? Right now, nearly everything in my library has a check mark, but I'm certainly not syncing my whole library.
