Library item change and check in/check out

Here's the scenario:
We're using check in /check out - DW 8.02
My co-worker makes changes to several files
I take a look at them on the site, they look fine.
Now she checks in everything.
I make changes to a library item (menu) that affects the
whole site. The library dialog asks me if I want to check out the
files, I say "yes to all".
I wait a long time while the files are all checked out and
changed (500 files).
Looks Okay, so I, folder by folder, check them in again (I
didn't use syncronize)
and her changes are gone. Mine are fine.
All I can think of is that DW used my local copies of the
files instead of bringing down the ones on the server, even though
it looked like they were being checked out. Why? What would cause
this?

Following a migration to SharePoint 2013, the follow options have been disabled (Open and Check out + Manage) (see below). These are critically important functions and make it very hard to make SharePoint a useable interface. Any guidance on how to resolve
these issues is greatly appreciated. This is not a branded website, and there has been no changes made to the standard interface.

I'm not sure what the easiest way is either. First, I would try to create a new site collection with a new library and see if you get the same behavior. If not, then its something in the upgrade process. If it does that also would point
to something being wrong in the way that javascript is being executed.
If it is happening everywhere I suspect you'll have to start tracing javascript using something like IE developer's toolbar to see why the status on those buttons isn't changing when you select a document. I'm not sure what else to suggest.

Possible to check IN and Check Out Reference Tables?

Can you elaborate your business requirement of having Check out on reference table?
Checked out option is used for the below scenario in Main Table
Create - If the record is checked out, then it is virtually available in MDM until it is approved as the part of the workflow
Change - The record is kept checked out , so that the user who changes it owns it , and no others has access to change it to achieve the data consitency
But for reference data , the records is already available in the target system and it is fed to MDM

Hi Lohi,
When you are connected ot DTR and trying to change WD component from there you will be asked about whether you need to add changed files to activity. Don`t add any generated files to activities (from bin nad gen_* folders). To check out, go to development infrastrucutre view, select activity, specify name, review it, check out, activate.

Assuming there won't be any wi-fi netwokrs, will there be cellular reception there?
If so, you need to check if a carrier or the carrier if there is only one, offers a data only plan for the iPad and similar devices along with providing a mico-SIM card. If a carrier offers a data only plan with a full size SIM card, you can cut the SIM card down to mico-SIM size. There are devices that provide for this.
If there is cellular reception but a carrier or the carrier doesn't have a data plan only for the iPad and similar devices but offers a tethering plan for phones on their network, you can tether your iPad to the cell phone for internet access via the carrier's cellular network.

In workflow need to check in passed validaitons and check out failed once?

Hi Rajeev,
You can try out both branch step and validation step and see which serves your purpose better.
In branch step you can give multiple validation/validation groups,if result is TRUE take the first branch and check in at STOP.
If FALSE,take dont checkin at STOP,either cascade or Rollback as the case be.Also here you can call the same or other Workflow.The split branches can later be combined using MERGE or Group.
Other way can be by using Validation step,setup iteration threshold.here failed jobs will be sent to previous step and passed ones will move ahead in WF.Later you can checkin at STOP and failed jobs would still be in WF in checkout state.

I'm sorry to learn that you have endured the audio issues outlined in your post for almost 2 years SusanLM1! This is certainly not normal! Let's get to the bottom of this issue, first please confirm your phone model; your mention that you have the iPhone 5 but your post is on the iPhone 5S forum. Also, share the iOS version currently installed on your phone. What is your ZIP code? Does this happen mainly while you make/receive calls from a particular location (home, office, etc)?

Check-out Exclusive and Check-out Nonexclusive

When we check out a record exclusively or non-exclusively why is the 'Modify Join Permissions' option active(not disabled).According to my understanding,if we make check-out non-exclusive, without modifying join permission,all the other users must be able to 'Join checkout'.If it is exclusive we have to assign user and role who can Join Checkout it.Then why is the 'Modify Join Permission' option coming for non-exclusive checkout also.Apart from my understanding is there any other difference between the two.Please help me in clarifying this.

Hi,
(1) Exclusive, which grants join permissions to no other roles or users (by default, no other users can join the checkout); and
(2) Nonexclusive, which grants join permissions to the Everyone role (by default, all users can join the checkout).
Instead of checking in the duplicate record, the owner can use the Roll Backcommand to delete the duplicate and abandon changes.
You can use the All Versions command to display both versions (originals and duplicates) of all checked out records. This is the only way for other users to join the check out of new records.
You can use role-based privileges to decide whether owners and/or non-owners are permitted to check in, roll back, or modify join permissions of checked out records.

DW won't let me change a library item "change will be discarded"

I built a site and I have library items for my logo and
navigation and some thumbnails. I want to use a different file/lbi
file for my header. When I delete the current library item and try
to put a new one in, I get this message: "making this change would
require changing code that is locked by a template or translator.
The change will be discarded." I honestly don't know what to do; I
really need to specify a different file for my header but it won't
let me, and I have over 100 pages and I made all thumbnails,
rollovers, and all links manually and the file that it's using
isn't working right. I just want to put the correct one in there; I
don't know how I can possibly build my site completely from scratch
- what can I do?
This is a related issue, but I'm not sure how: I have two
library items named the same thing in two different folders; some
files refer to one, some to the other, but I want them all to refer
to the correct one; I can't make change since I get that error
message. I'm confused about which file is which, I'd deleted one
before, then restored it...thank you so much for any help. I'm
trying to build my portfolio site for an art exhibition...

Happily. One of the pages of the site I'm having problems

I also attached code for it. [note: the home/index page only
works in Firefox but the other tabs work in IE and Safari. Also,
everything is shoved down wrong in IE and it only looks right in
Firefox] I am running Adobe CS3 on an Intel based Mac Pro with
Tiger OSX 10.4. I'm having trouble with a couple library items. The
very top library item is logo_and_navigation.lbi - all was okay
with it except I somehow had a couple different copies of it in my
Library folder, so I moved one of them to a folder within the site
called "Trashes". Then I deleted that one because I didn't want two
copies and the logo and nav disappeared on some pages that used
that one. I reinstated it in the trashes folder. The pages that use
that located in the Trashes folder are the index, Assorted Art, and
Commercial Work. The ones that use the one in the Library folder
are Clue Series and About & Contact.
I would like them all to use just one file so I only have to
edit one file if I make changes. I've tried several things: I've
tried selecting and deleting the item in the documents and
inserting the proper copy. It won't let me. I get the message
"making this change would require changing code that is locked by a
template or translator. The change will be discarded." I've tried
doing a Find and Replace and replacing the word Trashes with
Library to specify the correct folder info but that doesn't work,
probably because it can't change code in the library item.
I had a similar problem with the thumbnails library items
when I tried to build my other pages doing a File Save As from the
first one I built in Assorted Art. When I tried to create a
Commercial Work page from it, I deleted the thumbnails library item
because it was the Assorted Art thumbnails. When I tried to insert
the Commercial Work thumbnails library item I got that error
message. It was so frustrating; I had to go in and build the
Commercial Work page from scratch. I had to do that with each
different tab. It just doesn't seem right that you can't swap out
library items.
Anyway, I'd completely appreciate any help or feedback! I
really would!

I committed my nav bar ul to a library item and now the appearance of my nav bar has an off white background and I cannot change it back. Why did this happen? Thank you.

Possibly you inserted library item in the wrong division. Would need to see your CSS & HTML code to give more meaningful answers.

You cannot change the price of an item AFTER I check out!

I ordered an XMEN: Days of Future Past box set with a robot head last night for $17.99 plus tax for store pickup online. The total came out to be a bit over $20. When I checked my email today, I was charged $29.99 for the item, and tax based on the new sale price. This is an increase of more than 50%!
It is not legal to change the price of an item AFTER a price is agreed and someone has paid. I would like someone to fix this, as this is a big deal for your customers.
I would like to know what Best Buy can do about this issue? I live in Minneapolis, and would like to believe that our local businesses aren't cheating their customers, especially those in their hometown.

HT1751 I foolishly tried to set up two libraries for two diff. ipods. Now my original library is changed and all the music I purchased is not listing.   In purchased I see 906 songs - but I cannot get them to show up as a list - is there help out there?

I tried to set up two libaries so my two ipods could sync different kinds of music. This wiped out my original Itunes - I have been trying to get it back to the way it was. I have is backed up on Simple Save but do not want to plug that aback in since I am afraid it will then take up the new situation instead of allowing me to put the data on simple save back to the computer for Itunes.   I want to show my 908 songs that I have purchased and I cannot seem to do this... It shows in purchased= as 0-8 - but I cannot get them to list.   What am I doing wrong. One Item Shopping cart check out

I only have one item to sell and don't want to use an whole
cart system. Are there tags I can use to create a cart process at
the bottom of my page? I'll be using Verisign for the
processing.

My HP Officejet Pro 8600 plus has dual sided printing. It is attached wirelessly thru my airport express. I can find no way to print dual sided using most but not all of my applications. When I go to system pref..printers..and check out any of the options

Previous suggestions said after sys prfs..Printers..I should either open the print queues then go to printer setup then chose driver, or go to options & supplies and then do settings, or in some way click the driver and pick the settings. None of the above provides the answer. I am using os x 10.8.

Make sure the printer driver you're using is the correct one. In System Preferences, Print/Scan, select your printer, and see what it says under "Kind" on the right-hand side. If it's anything other than the exact model of your printer (if it just says Airprint, or Generic something), you need to delete the printer and add it back in using the correct driver. You may have to download the official driver from HP, but it should work automatically.
Other than that, I'm not sure what else to try. The two-sided option should be in the basic printer page for most printers, as far as I know, but you may have to click the "Show Details" button on a print dialog to see it.
