Check whether value in a field is odd or even

Hi folks,
I have some value in a field 'count'. I want to check if the value in that field is even or not. I need to put a IF loop saying that if the value in 'count' is even then execute the loop. How can I do this.
I appreciate the efficient method to check this. Thanks
Waiting.............

You can do something like this.
report zrich_0002 .
data: i type i value 48.
data: remainder type i.
remainder = i mod 2.
if remainder = 0.
  write:/ 'This is an even number'.
else.
  write:/ 'This is an odd number'.
endif.
Ooops, Abdul beat me to it.

    your_col - trunc(your_col)Do you have negative numbers?
    For negative values what do you want to display?
    If just the decimal part, you could use ABS(col) - trunc(ABS(col))

  • Check for null value for Date Field

    Hello everyone,
    I have a database that consist of date field and also a bean that will able to access the db.
    here are my example:-
    private int setDate(int date) {
    this.date = date;
    private void getDate {
    return date;
    later, I entered a date value and wanna check whether the date is on the database or not. SO, do you all have any idea?

    Perhaps before passing your date off to a primitive int, you could pass it to an [Integer] object. Then check to see if that object is null;
    Integer d = new Integer(int value);
    if (d == null) {
    }

  • How to Check the total value of a field

    Hi,
    I want to check the total value of a field (this total is obtain by using property of that field thru personalization).
    that means , in a table 3 columns are there (col 1, col2 & col3). I personalized the total property as true for col3.
    now i'm getting the total for that field.
    I want to check that total whether it crossed 100 or not.
    How to do this?
    Thanks in advance,
    SAN

    Hi San,
    You can achieve by using OATotalRowBean, search for OATotalRowBean in this forum you should be able to get some sample code.
    public class OATotalRowBean
    extends TotalRowBean
    implements OAWebBean, OAWebBeanConstants
    A special row rendered at the bottom of a table which lets users see totals for columns which are designated for summing.
    Note The total is calculated and displayed only for visible rows.
    When you indicate that you want to total one or more columns, the OA Framework creates an OATotalRowBean and designates it as the columnFooter named child of the OATableBean. If the OATableBean is also configured to insert rows (so it has an "Add Another Row" button), then the total bean becomes an indexed child of the add table row bean (see OAAddTableRowBean), which the OA Framework in turn designates as the table's columnFooter object.
    If you need to access the table's column footer object for any reason, call the OATableBean's getColumnFooter() method. If row insertions are enabled, this method returns an OAAddTableRowBean; otherwise it returns an OATableRowBean.
    For detailed information about creating and working with tables, see OA Framework Developer Guide: Tables.
    With regards,
    Kali.

  • Check or Uncheck a messageCheckbox field depending on a LOV field value

    Dear Gurus,
    Please let me know if we can check or uncheck a check box field based on a value in LOV field in a OAF Page. I need to know if we can do this without touching the code in controller, is it possible? Please provide your valuable thoughts.
    The requirement is something like say, if X is a value in LOV, we need to check the checkbox else we need to uncheck the checkbox
    Thanks in Advance,
    Affy

    You could try workaround. Not sure whether this is feasible in your case.
    You need to modify (add a new column) the LOV query something like this :
    select decode(<column_name>, 'X','Y','N') checkbox_value,
    from .....
    where ....
    Make sure that the checkbox checked value = 'Y' and unchecked value = 'N'.
    Set this attribute as the return item to the checkbox.

  • How to hide a field based on the value of a field in a different subform - null check doesn't work!

    I'm using Javascript to set the actions. I need to hide a text field if the value of a field in another sub-form is null.
    - tried checking the value of the other field for null - doesn't work
    - tried setting a variable str2 where I know the value of the other field is available then checking that variable when I initialize the text field - doesn't work
    What am I missing?

    Hi.
    Try this in the originating sub form referring to the text field (X).
    if (this.rawValue = 1)
              X.presence = "visible";
    else if (this.rawValue = null)
              X.presence = "hidden";

  • How does APEX check for null values in Text Fields on the forms?

    Hello all,
    How does APEX check for null values in Text Fields on the forms? This might sound trivial but I have a problem with a PL/SQL Validation that I have written.
    I have one select list (P108_CLUSTER_ID) and one Text field (P108_PRIVATE_IP). I made P108_CLUSTER_ID to return null value when nothing is selected and assumed P108_PRIVATE_IP to return null value too when nothign is entered in the text field.
    All that I need is to validate if P108_PRIVATE_IP is entered when a P108_CLUSTER_ID is selected. i.e it is mandatory to enter Private IP when a cluster is seelcted and following is my Pl/SQL code
    Declare
    v_valid boolean;
    Begin
    IF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NULL THEN
    v_valid := TRUE;
    ELSIF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NOT NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NOT NULL THEN
    v_valid := TRUE;
    ELSIF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NOT NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NULL THEN
    v_valid := FALSE;
    ELSIF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NOT NULL THEN
    v_valid := FALSE;
    END IF;
    return v_valid;
    END;
    My problem is it is returning FALSE for all the cases.It works fine in SQL Command though..When I tried to Debug and use Firebug, I found that Text fields are not stored a null by default but as empty strings "" . Now I tried modifying my PL/SQL to check Private_IP against an empty string. But doesn't help. Can someone please tell me how I need to proceed.
    Thanks

    See SQL report for LIKE SEARCH I have just explained how Select list return value works..

    I tried entering all the fields in the IF loop with AND condition but its giving syntax error.Perhaps this is because the lenght of the IF condition would be more than the allowed one.

  • 'DUMMY' value of the field in Authorization Check

    Hello everyone!
    I have some misunderstanding. I made an authorization check in transaction SU53 and i see a class, an object and the field which need to be DUMMY. What does it mean? What Value of this field I  have to choose when I give an authorization for myself?

    Sorry, but that's not correct.
    "DUMMY" is equivalent to "don't care" or "any value".
    That is different from requesting a SPACE value (which is just one distinct value).
    If a "dummy" value is requested, actually no value is requested - any value will satisfy the request.

  • Checking whether field-symbol from another program is assigned?

    Hi all
    I'm attempting to access a FS from another program.
    As the FS can be assigned, or unassigned within that program, how do I checked for that in my calling program?

    lv_var = '(ZTGT_PROG)<read_fs>'.
    ASSIGN (lv_var) TO <fs>.   " statement might dump...

    Hi
    Go through this doc and use accordingly
    Field Symbols
    Field symbols are placeholders or symbolic names for other fields. They do not physically reserve space for a field, but point to its contents. A field symbol cam point to any data object. The data object to which a field symbol points is assigned to it after it has been declared in the program.
    Whenever you address a field symbol in a program, you are addressing the field that is assigned to the field symbol. After successful assignment, there is no difference in ABAP whether you reference the field symbol or the field itself. You must assign a field to each field symbol before you can address the latter in programs.
    Field symbols are similar to dereferenced pointers in C (that is, pointers to which the content operator * is applied). However, the only real equivalent of pointers in ABAP, that is, variables that contain a memory address (reference) and that can be used without the contents operator, are reference variables in ABAP Objects.
    All operations programmed with field symbols are applied to the field assigned to it. For example, a MOVE statement between two field symbols moves the contents of the field assigned to the first field symbol to the field assigned to the second field symbol. The field symbols themselves point to the same fields after the MOVE statement as they did before.
    You can create field symbols either without or with type specifications. If you do not specify a type, the field symbol inherits all of the technical attributes of the field assigned to it. If you do specify a type, the system checks the compatibility of the field symbol and the field you are assigning to it during the ASSIGN statement.
    Field symbols provide greater flexibility when you address data objects:
    If you want to process sections of fields, you can specify the offset and length of the field dynamically.
    You can assign one field symbol to another, which allows you to address parts of fields.
    Assignments to field symbols may extend beyond field boundaries. This allows you to address regular sequences of fields in memory efficiently.
    You can also force a field symbol to take different technical attributes from those of the field assigned to it.
    The flexibility of field symbols provides elegant solutions to certain problems. On the other hand, it does mean that errors can easily occur. Since fields are not assigned to field symbols until runtime, the effectiveness of syntax and security checks is very limited for operations involving field symbols. This can lead to runtime errors or incorrect data assignments.
    While runtime errors indicate an obvious problem, incorrect data assignments are dangerous because they can be very difficult to detect. For this reason, you should only use field symbols if you cannot achieve the same result using other ABAP statements.
    For example, you may want to process part of a string where the offset and length depend on the contents of the field. You could use field symbols in this case. However, since the MOVE statement also supports variable offset and length specifications, you should use it instead. The MOVE statement (with your own auxiliary variables if required) is much safer than using field symbols, since it cannot address memory beyond the boundary of a field. However, field symbols may improve performance in some cases.

    The syntax check performed in an ABAP Objects context is stricter than in other ABAP areas. See Cannot Use Untyped Field Symbols ad Cannot Use Field Symbols as Components of Classes.
    Effect
    This statement declares a symbolic field called <fs>. At runtime, you can assign a concrete field to the field symbol using ASSIGN. All operations performed with the field symbol then directly affect the field assigned to it.
    You can only use one of the additions.
    Example
    Output aircraft type from the table SFLIGHT using a field symbol:
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <PT> TYPE ANY.
    DATA SFLIGHT_WA TYPE SFLIGHT.
    ASSIGN SFLIGHT_WA-PLANETYPE TO <PT>.

    ... TYPE LINE OF type
    Addition 5
    ... LIKE s
    Addition 6
    ... LIKE LINE OF s
    Addition 7
    ... TYPE tabkind
    Effect
    You can define the type of the field symbol using additions 2 to 7 (just as you can for FORM parameters (compare Defining the Type of Subroutine Parameters). When you use the ASSIGN statement, the system carries out the same type checks as for USING parameters of FORMs.
    This addition is not allowed in an ABAP Objects context. See Cannot Use Obsolete Casting for FIELD SYMBOLS.
    In some cases, the syntax rules that apply to Unicode programs are different than those for non-Unicode programs. See Defining Types Using STRUCTURE.
    Effect
    Assigns any (internal) field string or structure to the field symbol from the ABAP Dictionary (s). All fields of the structure can be addressed by name: <fs>-fieldname. The structured field symbol points initially to the work area wa specified after DEFAULT.
    The work area wa must be at least as long as the structure s. If s contains fields of the type I or F, wa should have the structure s or at least begin in that way, since otherwise alignment problems may occur.
    Example
    Address components of the flight bookings table SBOOK using a field symbol:
    DATA SBOOK_WA LIKE SBOOK.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS <SB> STRUCTURE SBOOK
    DEFAULT SBOOK_WA.
    WRITE: <SB>-BOOKID, <SB>-FLDATE.

    Hello,
    I am having a problem with the error mentioned in the title. I see alot of others have experienced the same problem, but I have quite a twist to it.
    I see the problem when I try to edit a list item, and then try to save the changes.

    If I access the library directly through wfe1 and wfe2, I get the error. If I access the library via wfe3 if works just fine.
    So because of this, I think it is safe to assume that is has nothing to do with the character limit of 255. Nor does it have anything to do with the field type, since it is already set to mulitible lines of text.
    So. Any ideas?

    To solve the problem you may have to change the field's parent type to "note". To do that you have to open your fldtypes... file under Templates/xml and change the line to:
    "<Field Name="ParentType">Note</Field>" from "<Field Name="ParentType">Text</Field>"
    You might also have to add a sql type if your text needs to be longer than 255 characters
