Checking for numbers

Hello,
Is there a way to check for all types of numbers (ie) negative numbers, floats, longs etc.
When I try charAt() with Character.isDigit, am able to check for integers only.
Please help.

You could always try to parse them and "catch" the errorsThen it means that I will have to use parseInt, parseDouble etc. separately & catch. I saw it from javadoc but do not prefer that way.
The other way I can think of is with Regular Expresions or regex.As for pattern matching, was trying it out. But not too sure of how to get the correct expression:
The last one I tried was :
String regEx = "-??[0-9]+?";for
String j="10";but it does not match.
Any suggestion on how to do this? Thanks.

Guys, i need to check a String to see if contains either letters or numbers and nothing else. I know that there's certain function is could use like:
1. isNum() - to check for numbers
2. isChar()-to check for letters
but the things is that i get error when i tried to use either 1 of these methods.

Pls chek the settigs by following the path
IMG>Materials Management>Logistics Invoice Verification>Incoming Invoice>Set Check for Duplicate Invoice.
Here you make the settings for creating a duplicate invoice check.
Moreever, in the vendor master, you need to tick the check box for duplicate invoice check.
I suggest you search the Forums before posting a query. There are lots of postings on this issue.

Check for natural numbers

Hi,
Im trying make an if statement that would check for natural numbers.
If it is not a natural number do one thing, if it is do nothing.
I cant get it to check for it.
if ( ( quantity / 2 ) != int )

You will want to check if the remainder of an integer division is zero.
You do that with the modulus operator %:
if (quantity % 2 == 0) {
// quantity is even
}

Stop Numbers from Automatically Checking for Updates?

Is there a way to do this?
Every iLife app (except GarageBand) has a "Check for updates automatically" preference that can be disabled in order to prevent the "update is available" dialog box from appearing during the program's launch. However, none of the iWork apps seem to have such a preference.

The message "A Numbers update is available. Would you like to open Software Update?" appears when you launch an outdated version of Numbers while you're connected to the Internet.

Already seen the wothholding tax number range and it is coorec. Please advise how to resolve.

How ever, I suggest that you do not put the message as "E". There could be a scenario, where in, the Business may have certain customers and vendors with the same name and other common fields.

One check for several vendors

Hi Gurus: I am trying to create one payment for several vendors. I tried F-58 and it works fine. I also created a unique payment method to map to a specific account. The business requirement is "How can we pay one check to American Express" for several invoices from several vendors". So I added American Express as an alternative payee to each of the vendors. All works fine except that the client wants the record on the FCHX file that is sent to the bank as well as one check for that vendor. FCHX means that we would need to use F110 & not F-58. However in F110 I cannot group several vendors to be paid by one payee...correct?
Any help with be GREATLY Appreciated!

I'm afraid I don't have an answer but I'd like to highlight the question/thread since we have the same issue.
We have several cases of invoice documents that needs to be posted to different vendors, because we need to report the Accounts Payable on the different vendors' VAT numbers for legal purposes. The payments for several documents might, however, be going to the same payee. I.e. we might have ten invoices booked on ten different vendors but with only one payee.
We are using the alternative payee/permitted payee functionality but the problem is that F110 generates one payment document per vendor. We would like to have one document per payee. This is possible in F-53 or F-58 (where I can manually select several vendors in the same clearing) but we need to use F110 since we are generating both check printouts and DMEE files for these payments. The bank charges us a fee for each payment, so in the example mentioned they would charge us ten fees instead of one. So it is very costly if this cannot be solved.
Any suggestions? The setting mentioned previously in this thread does not help.

Try to rename (or delete) the compatibility.ini file in the Firefox profile folder to see if that helps.

Check for updates not working in 9 pro

I am running Acrobat 9 pro on a Vista machine. Acrobat appears to have been malfunctioning (bates numbering is not working properly), and I uninstalled (and deactivated) Acrobat, and then reinstalled it.
After reinstallation, I used the check for updates feature in the help menu to update from 9.0 to 9.2. But now every time I run Check for updates from Help, nothing updates. I get a dialog that there is an available update, and then an icon System Tray appears and a process is active for AdobeARM.exe. But nothing ever happens-no update. I then force close the process from the task manager, and still no success in getting Acrobat to update.
What can I do? Thanks very much.

Thank you for your rely. Here is the more detrailed info:
1. I pulled down the Help menu and chose Check for Updates.
2. A dialog appeared that said an update was available; I clicked on the button that indicated I wanted to download and install the update
3. Nothing further appeared onscreengiving my information or choice, but an incon then appeared in the system tray for the installer.
4. Hovering over the icon does not pop up any status information. If I click, double click, or right click on the incon in the system tray nothing pops up, and nothing appears. At that point I get absolutely no response.
5. If I go to task manager at that point it shows the active process AdobeARM.exe and gives no indication of it malfunctioning. But nothing installs and nothing downloads and nothing happens.
6. If I then pull down the Help menu and chose Check forUpdates again, I get a dialog that says the updater is already running.
7. All of this occured immedaitely after I reinstalled 9 pro.

Check for non-numeric characters in textbox input

I have a form with several textboxes, each of which can accept numeric input. I want to write a validation/ plsql block that checks for a non-numeric character in the input, so that my user sees a customized error message rather than a database error. Any tips on how I can achieve that? Is there any function like "isalpha" in C, which can directly do the job?
Also, some of these numeric fields should allow commas, since people put commas in larger numbers.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

i figured it out. turns out, i had some confusion in my mind. i modified Taneal's solution to use it in my already existing validations of type 'function returning error text' and it works fine.
the problem before was that i was running 2 separate validations on the same field, and probably due to the sequence numbers, i was getting a numeric or value error. now, i've combined all validations into a single validation and it works fine.
and honestly, i'm pretty bad with reg. ex. :D

Everytime I launch iTunes, get "check for purchased music" message. Why?

After I installed iTunes 7.2 (for PC), and upgraded my library to the available iTunes Plus songs I started receiving this message.
This occurred after one song did not download during the iTunes Plus library upgrade. I received an error that was documented by an editor at MacWorld Magazine (it was a numbered error, I do not remember which one it was). I tried again the next day and was able to successfully complete the download.
However, every time I launch iTunes I am asked to input my AppleID and password to check for purchased music. This has become very annoying. Does anyone know why this is happening?
I have taken a few steps to troubleshoot this process. I tried rebuilding my iTunes library as suggested on this support site. That did not work. I deleted everything from my iTunes folder and then launched iTunes. The box asking me to check for purchased music did NOT appear. So I have narrowed it down to a problem with my library/configuration.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I had this problem and found some interrupted downloads stuck in my download folder. Quit iTunes and move the downloads folder to the desktop. Check inside and make sure you don't need to re-download those songs.
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Downloads
I think that is a temporary folder that gets created during the download, then gets deleted when done. iTunes must be seeing at startup and asks for password to try to finish, but never does.

Look closely at the numbers and you will see what I mean.

This is always 100 time the freespace reading, T^hat makes "Fre4esapce equal to 1/100 of this number or 1%.

Factor out10.
(1 -ge ((1/10) * 10)
1/10 * 10 will always be 1.
You are in eff3ect saying is 1 greater than or equal to 1 which will always be true.
The test is pointless and does not check for a freespace threshold.
We want here to see the percentage of free space. Percentage is a ration of two numbers.
Freespace/Size is a ration (third grade arithmetic - if I have three cookies and I give one to you what fr4action did I keep?
if freespace ia1 25 GB and Size is 250Gb then the ratio p(unnormalized percentage) is 23/250 or 1/10 or .10000000 TO kae this a human percentage with a % sign we multiply by 100. .1 * 100 is .... 10 and then add the sign for 10&.
The frespace (%) for a dis is (freesapce/size) * 100 if expressed as a percent.

This would filter out and show all drive that have less than 10% freespace.
It is easier to just say this:

Since the ratio will alwys be a number less than '1'.
Too many techs including many with college degrees get this wrong because they forgot what they learned bout apples and pies in elementary school.
Don't feel bad. You are in good company. Most of Congress cannot add or do ratios either.
