Child block Stacked Canvas - Data population

Dear Techies,
I dont get data refreshed in my child block C1 which is present in a stacked canvas. I show or hide it based on a condition in my post-query. When C1 has to be shown, it is shown as expected but the corresponding data is not populated in C1.
I disable another block items and get FRM-40106: No navigable items in destination block in post-query. Could this be an issue? Please assist.

Hi,
All the Data blcok items cannot be hidden and at least there should be one item which is navigable. Instead of making the items invisible, I changed the background color to gray and updatable and insert property as 'No' and it works fine now..
But actually my intention was to hide all the block items based on certain conditions...:(

Stacked Canvas with one block displaying twice

I have a question regarding the Stacked Canvas. I have to create a calender for clients. (I am using stacked canvas to do that).
In the 'calender' table i would have the information like ClientID, Year, weekno, start date, end date.
So i created two blocks for 'Calender' table in this form. One block for Content canvas with ClientID and Year (Block1). And another block (Block2) on Stacked canvas for weekno, startdate and enddate.(normally there will be 52 weeks sometime 53 weeks)
On the Block1 it suppose to display the ClientID and Year once. And in the block2 (stacked canvas) it suppose to display 53 rows with weekno and the start/end dates.
When i create a new row in the block1 for clientid and year (1234, 2008) then the block2 will be populated with 01-jan-2008 to the 31-dec-2008. But the problem i am having is when i try to save it is trying to save two times one from block1 and once from block2 resulting in a unique constraint error.
how should i structure this so it saves only once?
I tried to keep the clientid and the year in block1 as non-database items and copied those values into the block2, that way it saves correctly but when i try to query on the upper block it gives me error.

But you only have one table. You need two tables for master-detail. Can you normalize the calendar table and change it to two tables (master-detail).

Tab Canvas with Child Block

I have a question about a tab canvas. I have a parent child relationship where I would like to have the child records each placed on a differnt tab of a tab canvas. At most there will be 7 child records so at most there would be 7 tabs. My question is, is there a way to display the child records on the tabs where each row in the child block in on different tabs. The only way I can think of doing this is by having 7 child blocks each referring to a differnt child record. Is there a cleaner way of doing this with just one child block?

You can do it if you are willing to write all of the code to manage it. Not recommended.
The alternative is to have a seperate block on each tab, each one a detail of the one master. Each of the seven would have the criteria to only show the appropriate data.

Any coding to re-size the "Stacked" canvas and no.of records displays on the block?

u can set the view port and Width and height of the Stack canvas at runtime but not No of Records display....
set_view_property .....VIEW_SIZE or Width / Height
for canvas size use SET_CANVAS_PROPERTY

Scroll Bar/visibility in Tab canvas/with child blocks property false

Hi Every one:
I am working on a Tab Canvas which has a parent block with 2 child Blocks, I am able to hide all items in a child block depend on the value of Parent block but not been able to hide Scroll Bar.
If any one can give me some ideas. would be a great help.

perhabs you can create an item which is disabled and no level and not visible and has the same width and heigth of the scrollbar or bigger and if you want to set the toolbar not visible set the item visible.

How to remove the black line from a stacked canvas at run time???

Hi All,
I've developed a stacked canvas within a content canvas, when I run the form the stacked canvas apeared with a black line takes it.
How to remove this line or how to disappear this line at run time??
I tried to do this by putting (no line) in tools palette to the line color tool after selecting the black line one and after selecting the stacked canvas another once, but this did not resolve the problem!
I need something else:
I put the stacked canvas at detail data block and it didn't appear since I execute query in master data block
How to appear the stacked canvas directly before executing query in master data block???

u mean the border line? In stacked canvas property, select contour/outline and set it to none.
Make sure, the stacked canvas is behind the content canvas in the objectnavigator. Then check your
properties of the stacked canvas:
- Position on content canvas
- size
- size of clipping
Set stacked canvas property automatic visible to yes.
Make sure the stacked canvas is not overlayed by other stacked canvas or items.

Stacked canvas view placed on the content canvas

Hi to all,
i am developed a one form ,i.e placed the stacked canvas view on the content convas.
i create a two data block's with same table.
one data block for content canvas and one for stacked canvas.
in the content canvas i taken two fileds with scroll bar and remaining fields placed on the stacked canvas.
these stacked canvas view put on the content canvas.it dispalying and
executed succesfully.
here i am getting one problem i am displying the 10 records at a time in both canvases.my requirment is placed on the
cursor on the content canvas particular record scroll down then automatically show the same record details in stacked canvas and

This is not necessary. Just create one data block and then assign the block items to your Content and Stacked canvases. You can display items in a data block on different canvases. By doing this, there is no need to write code to synchronize the records because they are part of the same data block so they will automatically scroll as you navigate through your records.

Problem with Stacked Canvas

Hi,
I have prepared a stacked canvas on a content canvas.
Both content and stacked canvas are based on the same data block. In the data block 2 items are on content canvas and the remaining are on stacked canvas. I have also a scroll bar on the content canvas so that we can scroll to the right as there are many items on it.
so 1st and 2nd fields are on the content canvas and remaining ones are on stacked canvas.when i tab out of the 1st field stacked canvas goes invisible, but when i tab out of the 2nd field stacked canvas again comes back.
How can i avoid this?
I want the stacked canvas always to be displayed when i tab out from any where.
One more problem is, when i click on the 2nd field the stacked canvas goes invisible too

Check if the second item overlaps the area of the stacked canvas. Forms always makes the current item be displayed fully and therefore hides all areas which would overlap the item.

I've searched the forums for the last 2+ hours and can't find a solution for my problem, although there are hundreds of questions on this subject.
I have a stacked canvas on top of a content canvas. The canvases share the same window. They also share a data block. I added radio buttons on the main canvas to "show/hide" the stacked (my ultimate goal is to have 2-3 stacked and toggle. When hide, the stacked canvas is hidden, but when i click show, it is not. I understand reading all the posts that the block with focus will display, and I've added both a go_block and go_item prior to the show_view. Below is my code. MEL_DETAILS is content and MEL_LINE_ITEM is stacked.

How to change the order of columns displayed in Stacked Canvas

Dear Member,
I have a Stacked Cavas which has many Items. How do i change the order of the Items displayed when the form is opened?
I checked the X-Position in the property palette of each item, all the items have an X-position=0. I am really confused how do i change the order of the columns which are displayed in the stacked canvas when opening the form.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

If i Try to use SET_ITEM_PROPERTY('BLOCK.ITEM', X_POS, myXpos);
then it will increment each item X Position. The Total Stacked Canvas width i have is 9 and there are total of 36 items in the stacked canvas each of equal width 1.1,
so the total becomes 38.5 which is greater than 9.
I saw all triggers in the code, i dont see any code which exclusively determines item positions at run time. As i said before all the items have X position as zero but still they come up nicely.
i HAVE A button in the form and following is the code which is written in when-button pressed trigger :
show_view('DETAIL_CNT');
GO_BLOCK('XX_PA_BUDGET_DTL_BLK');
where DETAIL_CNT is the content canvas and 'XX_PA_BUDGET_DTL_BLK' is the data block in which items from both stacked and content exsist.
I dont understand why this is happening.

Stacked canvas is overlapping the content canvas

Hi all,
I am writing a program where I have one content canvas and a button to display the stacked canvas on button click. But when I run the form, 'only' the stacked canvas is showing-up even though I have hidden the stacked canvas in the on-new-form trigger.
Can anybody please shed some light.

Hi,
Assuming you have two or more datablocks:
On the object navigator, move up (drag-drop) the datablock shown on the main canvas, so it apeears first.
OR
Open the Forms properties and set property: "First navigation data block"

Stacked Canvas - FRM-40202

I having this problem with my form. I getting a FRM-40202 error when trying to run my
form which has two stacked and 1 content canvas.I have tried hiding the canvas.
hide_view('canvas150'); go_item('control_block.pwo_nbr');
AURUT is the content one.
canvas150 is the stacked canvas I don't want to see.
AWR is the stacked canvas i would like to see.
the data blocks are as followed:
reports
range1 and range 2 are associated with the canvas150.
range 3 and range 4 are associated with the AWR canvas.
The first problem I have is that the AURUT canvas has the canvas150 canvas on top of it
I tried deleted the canvas150 canvas and recreated it but it is still on top.of the content one and I also have a stacked canvas(canvas150) in my form.
I think that my form is corrupt. How can I fixed this problem without redoing the whole form? I tried created a contol_block and assigning the items to the control_block in my program unit. But I still see canvas150. I getting frm-40202 error. What I have read about this error is that a field in my canvas150 needs to be filled in before it will allowed me to continue to the next canvas(AWR). I don't even want to see canvas150 while I processing the items on AWR. I'm lost as to what i can do to fixed this problem. If I changed the field in question in canvas150 to "NOT REQUIRED" my form crashes.
I didn't have this problem with my first stacked canvas. Introducing my second stacked canvas has cause this problem.

Stacked canvas in content canvas desapears when post_query

Hello.
I have a content canvas and i draw a stacked canvas into content canvas. I want a horizontal scroll in stacked and a vertical scroll bar in the content. In stacked canvas, i placed a base table data block. In when-form-instance, i have a comand SHOW_VIEW of stacked canvas.When i execute_query, the stacked canvas desapears. I don't understand why...

I have seen that too, with tab canvas, which is like a stacked canvas.
On mine, it occurs after a clear_form and synchronize, but before I execute any queries (there are multiple blocks and queries).
So what I added was this, following the Synchronize:

End;I actually put the Tab_View_ID variable into a package spec, so Forms only needs to set it once.
If you can't find the right place to add the code, a form-level when-new-item-instance trigger will work.

Howto. stacked canvas as splash screen

problem:
how to display a splash screen with a text inside when a process is launched in a canvas full of iteration etc...
solution:
assume we have a content canvas C playing the role of a data processor, items browser or other ..
and a stacked canvas S playing the role of "splash screen" linked to a B_spash block.

Conflict with stacked canvas

I have two stacked canvas A & B on a content canvas C where B has mirrored items of A. Now when am running the form am displayed with only B always. even if i use show_view for A and hide_view for B, the canvas A is not getting displayed.
i tried with set item property and go item but there is no result.
do any one have a gud solution for this.

roberts, my problem is i have mirrored items on B so the populated fields are displaying using those fields on B. so i tried in hidding them at block level like i set their displayed property to false. can u please tell me how can we set the display property to true and where to set the property dynamically??
