.chm files don't work on network drives...

I noticed this problem with .chm files compiled with my
projects. Then I tried it with the Robohtml.chm file as well. If
these files are on my local drive they work perfectly. When they
are moved to a network drive I get the following error.
Navigation to the webpage was canceled
What you can try:
Retype the address.
I have full access permissions to the files and folders on
the network.
Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas?

Ohh yes - I got into the same mess - I'd personally recommend
using the RoboHTML version - you you'll have to do some copy/paste
+ retyping, but at least you've be ably to 'share the file.
Another great thing is to use 'conditional build tags' for
your project (thanks Peter G.) Now you can a "Master Version" which
you make changes to, and say using the Single Source Layout you
have, for example: A version for Management, one for Staff - (i'm
not sure how many you're allowed - with regard to the tags).
Now - here's the really useful bit - if you make a change to
the Master version your changes are naturally reflected to all the
other versions - and any restrictions for the other versions are
not shown as "page unavailable" but just don't appear on the
"menu"....
Give it a try - it's made my life a lot easier (mines a 700+
page company procedure manual for a Casino).

  • Included files don't work on network paths

    I often include css and php files with absolute paths from to
    the site root, like this for example:
    <link href="/css/basic.css" rel="stylesheet"
    type="text/css" />
    ... and Dreamweaver has always rendered the page in design
    view just as if these included files were part of the current file,
    just as it should work. Unfortunately this doesn't work anymore
    since I moved all the sites to a network path. Now I have to use
    relative paths, for example:
    <link href="../css/basic.css" rel="stylesheet"
    type="text/css" />
    ... or the page won't render properly (it can't find the
    css-files). Why does having the files on a network path screw up my
    sites this way?
    Thanks in advance!

    A little update: Instead of using the complete network path
    (\\DOMAIN\foo\bar\etc) I mapped a network drive to that directory,
    and it works. The problem is that all developers need to have the
    same volume letter mapped to this network path, and that's going to
    be a problem. I really don't understand why DW can't work with
    network paths.
    This is on Windows XP Pro btw.

  • LR5.2 Destroys raw-files if working with network drives

    I have a serious bug with LR5.2: It destroys my raw files CR2 (Canon ESO 60d) if I work with my local network drive. All my pictures are stored on this network drive. If I try to import from sd card or local drive new pictures and copy/move them via import or synchornize to my network drive the files are corrupted. I also can't open them with other sw-programms like DPP from Canon. The original files on the sd card are okay. Even if I copy the files via explorer to the network drive I can open them with for ex. DPP, but after I imported them into LR5.2 the files are corrupted and I can't open them with DPP again.

    Lr doesn't write CR2 files, except if moving/copying, and then only via call to operating system. If your raw files are going bad, you probably have a system/hardware problem.

  • Can the Mail files be safe on a network drive?

    Can the Mail files be safe on a network drive? That way more than one computer (same user) can access the mail?

    Depends on what you mean by a "network drive".
    I have "external USB drives", I don't have a network drive.   I had no problems putting the .lrcat files on the external USB drives, and it would surprise me a lot
    if there were a problem putting them on network drives.   "In general", drives are drives, who cares.
    On the other hand, why would you want to?  I have all my photos on a USB drive, but I keep my catalogs (4 of them) on c:\ -- for performance reasons -- I see no reason to do otherwise.  They get backed up and the BACKUPS are then copied to 2 of my 3 external USB drives -- I see no REAL reason to put the catalogs externally or on a network drive -- does not buy me anything other than bad performance.

    I just updated to Adobe Reader 11.0.07 on my Mac OS version 10.6.8 and now the video files don't work.  How do I uninstall the update and return to the previous version?

    I received a notice from Chris Campbell at Adobe that stated : "....we are aware that Macs created between 2006 and 2008 are currently running into problems using the latest release of Flash Player (version 13)."  My question is will the update of Adobe Reader 11.0.07 cause this problem with Flash Player 13 on my Mac?  Sometimes when I try to view streaming video I get sound but no video.

  • Audio files don't work in FCE

    I have clips that I want to use in Final Cut Express that have audio in 48 KHz, 16-bit integer mode.
    The FCE manual says "16-bit audio: For video capture and output, 16-bit audio is almost always used"
    When I import the clips into FCE and place them in my sequence, I get the dreaded red line over the audio, and I can't seem to "render," so essentially, my clips have no sound.
    The default audio settings for my sequence are 48 KHz, 32-bit floating point, about which the FCE manual says "Final Cut Express HD mixes the audio in your program internally at 32-bit, floating-point resolution even if your source audio is 16-bit. The result is that all audio calculations are made with higher precision, maximizing the quality of your program’s audio."
    But since my audio files don't work in FCE, something is not right, and I don't know how to change it. The only way to change sequence settings is to load presets, none of which give me contol over the audio settings at this level. How do I get my audio files to work?
    Thanks,
    Rebecca

    Ok, so I opened up one of the orignal clips in QT, and clicked on "Export -> Quicktime movie." Under settings, I made sure the compression was DV/DVCPRO NTSC, and the audio was set to 48 KHz, 32-bit floating point. And exported. And then imported the clip into FCE, and it worked! (Even my teacher in my Final Cut class couldn't answer this one for me).
    Question is, if all cameras record at 16-bit interger (as the FCE manual says) and FCE requires 32-bit floating point (as it seems to), why doesn't it do the conversion automatically (as the manual suggests, but does seem to actually do)? I guess I don't really need this question answered, since I now have a fix, but I still need to use QT to convert every clip before I can use them in FCE, which is still a pain.
    Thanks,

  • TM works with network drives?

    Just to be sure - TM works with directly attached drives. But does it also work with network drives? I hope it does at least with Apples newest update.
    Thanks
    Andreas

    There is plenty of documentation/discussion of a workaround that let's you make your computer recognize unsupported drives. Search for it using words like terminal network unsupported drive backup and you will find it. Some people say it works fine, and others caution against using it. I haven't seen a thorough discussion that really explains why Apple doesn't allow it, or why it's risky, or why it works, but that's typical of the boards that attract a techie crowd. Me? After spending $650 for a Terastation, I'm going to give it a try. Apple wants so badly for Windows users to switch to Mac, but they sometimes seem to make it very difficult and frustrating for us.

  • ITunes will not work on network drive Error (-54)

    Greetings.
    I recently got the new 27" iMac, and am converting my old Mac Pro 2009 to a "server."
    On my Mac Pro, I had my iTunes folder on a separate drive, which was formatted exFAT. This was done specifically because I work cross-platform. So "Drive A" was my OSX Boot drive, "Drive B" was my Windows 7 Bootcamp drive, "Drive C" was my exFAT shard data drive and "Drive D" was Time Machine. The goal was, and is, to be able to use iTunes cross-platform without having to manage separate libraries.
    Now, I would like to connect my iMac's iTunes (Mac side) to "Drive C," but I keep getting an error message: The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-54). At first I thought it was due to the fact that the Mac Pro kept going to sleep, so I changed the setting. That didn't work. I then checked permissions - and the permissions give my iMac read-write permission, so that *shouldn't* be the issue. I can write to the network drive just fine.
    The issue can't be connectivity, because I am using ethernet, not wifi to connect the drives.
    I cannot use target disk mode, because "Drive C" is not a boot drive.
    So I need to know why iTunes cannot now write the Library file when permissions should be fine, it never had a problem with exFAT formatting in the last year I had that configuration and what can I do now to get iTunes to work over a network.
    Both versions of iTunes are current.
    The only remaining variable I can possibly think of is that the Mac Pro is using the latest version of Lion and not MacOSX Server.
    Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to get versioning to work on network drive?

    I'm having a setup with two computers. An iMac and a Mac mini, both running Lion.
    I have so far been happy with the versioning in iWork and appreciate not having to save the file before exiting Pages.
    Well, that was when the document was stored on my iMac.
    Now that I want to access the disk on my Mac mini from my iMac Pages will no longer play ball.
    When I edit a document in Pages on my iMac and that document is stored on the shared drive of the Mac mini Pages no longer support versioning.
    I can still exit Pages without having to save the document, but I no longer have access to earlier versions.
    Is this the way it was designed?
    I'm sharing the Mac mini disk by sharing a folder with AFP and SMB.
    I don't edit any of the documents on the Mac mini, all editing is done on the iMac.
    Actually, Pages is not even installed on the Mac mini.
    Is there anything I can do in my setup to make Versioning work on my network drive?

    Versions is really a function of Lion so I suggest posting the question in the Lion forum. You're much more likely to find someone with an answer there.

  • Check In/Out doesn't work on network drive?

    My company has used DW's check in/check out functionalities just fine for years, but before now the local copies of a site's files had been stored on each user's Mac's harddrive. I've been working on relocating those local copies to a single network drive that everyone can access so we're all working from the same local copies; most everything's going great except it looks like the check in/out functions are no longer working. It looks like the only indication I can see now in the FTP view is a green check on the remote files pane when something's checked out– the local copies don't show lock or check icons any longer.
    Given that the only change has been moving the local files over to the network drive, I have to assume DW's check in/out (or at least however I have settings set now) doesn't play nice when the local files live on a network drive. Has anyone run into this issue, and is there a fix for it?
    Thanks,
    J

    @Zabeth69:
    Yep, a new site definition's been set up and I've double-checked that the "local files" setting is pointing to the shared network server as the new local folder.
    @Nadia-P:
    At first I didn't think that link had anything that I didn't already know, and then saw these two bullets:
    •  The local root folder for this defined site must be on the local hard drive of a workstation.
    •  Your local root folder should not be shared or on a mounted drive.
    So in short, I suppose those answer my question, but they don't actually say *why* that is– it's hard to believe that the checking feature is limited to a literal local drive, and not a network drive. Seems odd. I'm going to poke around some more and try and figure out why that is, but I'd be grateful if anyone happens to know why in the meantime...

  • Help! Blank file after opening .psd from network drive

    I'm a technician at a school district and in one of the classrooms we have Photoshop CS5.1 installed on a Windows 7 SP1 machine. Students have their own network drive folder for them to save files.
    They are currently working with work paths and have multiple layers when they save their PS project.  When they go to open it back up, they get a blank white layer that looks locked. We go to the paths part and it actually shows what they were working on. How do they get it to open up where the layers are still there? The layers checkbox was checked when they saved and it was saved as .psd file.
    Any help would be appreciated.  They have saved locally on the machine and I'm going to find out soon enough if it saved correctly for them.

    It is discouraged by Adobe to open/save directly via a network.  I don't know the fact that you're saving directly across the network is involved in what's gone wrong here, but can you have the students save their work to the local drive, then copy the file to the network drive?
    Out of curiosity, are they using a mapped drive letter, or a UNC path?
    There was a VERY similar thread to yours a few weeks ago...  http://forums.adobe.com/message/3955688

  • Application's run-time shortcut menus don't work on local drive.

    The run-time menus in my application don't work, unless I run the application from the location where it is built.  This project has an application build specification, and an installer build specification.  The installer specification, copies the app to the local drive.  But the run-time shortcut menus do not work when the app runs.  Nothing happens when I right click on the control.  However if I run the same app from the network drive, where the application build spec builds it, it runs fine.  When I have the application build spec build the app directly to the local drive, it works fine.  The exe, ini and aliase files are identical.  Why does this app run differently depending on which drive it's on?  How can I fix it so the run-time shortcut menus work on the target machine?  Any ideas?

    Hello, I believe that when you create a custom run-time menu it gets saved to a file.  My guess is that you are not including this file as part of the build specification for the application.  The file likely exists in the build directory but does not on the target directory which is why it no longer works.  If that does not fix the problem, let me know and I will see if I can figure something else out.

  • Music files moved to a new network drive with a new volume name

    I had to replace my old network attached harddisk which held all my music ( mainly mp3 ) files. This drive was automounted and had the name "MUSICHD". My new network attached storage device ( LACIE Ethernet Disk mini 500GB ) has the volume name "SHARE" and it's not possible to change it.
    I copied all the files onto the the new drive, but now I have to tell iTunes that the files are not longer on a volume called MUSICHD. Could somebody be so kind and give me an advice how to do it. Shure I could re-import all the music files, but I don't like to loose all my ratings, playlists, etc.
    -wolfgang
    PowerMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   iPod 5G

    to be precise. I don't let iTunes manage my files. All my mp3 files are on a NAS ( Network Attached Storage ) device ( it's a 300 GB Harddisk with a 1GBit network connection from Buffalow ).
    If I add mp3 files to my library I first copy it to the NAS device and than drag and drop the files to the iTunes library. So iTunes only manages the links to that files. Files are not imported or copied to/with iTunes.
    Now I have to replace that NAS device by another one. Due to this replacement I have to change the network volume-name of the device. This share is part of the link in the iTunes database for each file.
    If you look into the xml file you'll find something like this:
    <key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/Volumes/SHARE/MUSIK/Blues/Dupree,%20Champion%20Jack/Blues%20From%20the%20Gutter/Dupree,%20Cha mpion%20Jack%20-%20Blues%20From%20the%20Gutter%20-%2001%20-%20Strollin'.mp3</str ing>
    So the "simple" question is. How to tell iTunes that all my music files are now on another volume?

  • Create file, and export it to Network drive?

    Ok. I have said this a few times - I am a java developer, and I am not that great at writing procedures, or function, but I try. Here is my situation. I would like a procedure that will query a table, and output this data into a file based on the queries. So for example. I would like to output something like this:
    Report Name: Date:
    Total Number of Proposals Missing PSR: 247
    Proposals missing PSR pending credit check: 147
    proposal id      prospect id   psr/document_number   credit check  description
    ========         ========      ================      ============= =============
    818356           434345                              fail          credit check failed
    634466           134556                              fail          credit check failed
    etc.....
    Proposals missing PSR but credit check passed: 46
    proposal id      prospect id   psr/document_number   credit check  description
    ========         ========      ================      ============= =============
    345345            345453                           pass          credit check passed
                                                                       but missing psr
    345653            864564                           pass          credit check failed
                                                                       but missing psr
    Proposals update with missing psr/document_number:                                     26

    Once I get the file I would like to put it out on the network drive.
    Now I have done this with java, but I think there is a way to do it in oracle.
    I found this code
    create or replace
    PROCEDURE PR_OUTPUT_TOFILE IS
               file_handle UTL_FILE.FILE_TYPE; -- file handle of OS flat file
               prop_id  NUMBER;

               file_handle :=
                 UTL_FILE.FOPEN('/tmp','myTestfile.txt','W');
               -- Write a line of text out to the file.
               UTL_FILE.PUT_LINE(file_handle, 'this is line 1 as a test');
               -- Select the c1 from the sat_proposal table
              SELECT c1 INTO prop_id FROM pon_user.sat_proposal
                  WHERE proposal_id > 838300 and proposal_id < 840000;
               -- Using PUTF write text with the col1 argument out to the file.
               UTL_FILE.PUTF (file_handle,
                  'This is the c1 %s.\n', prop_id);
               -- Close the file.
               UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(file_handle);
            EXCEPTION
               WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
                  DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('no_data_found');
                  UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(file_handle);
               WHEN UTL_FILE.INVALID_PATH THEN
                  DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('UTL_FILE.INVALID_PATH');
                  UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(file_handle);
               WHEN UTL_FILE.WRITE_ERROR THEN
                  DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('UTL_FILE.WRITE_ERROR');
                  UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(file_handle);
               WHEN OTHERS THEN
                  DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('other stuff');
                  UTL_FILE.FCLOSE(file_handle);
    END PR_OUTPUT_TOFILE;and it puts a file out their on the oracle server in the /tmp directory that I am running from. Is there a way to get a network connection and upload this file to the mapped drive?
    you know like \\nvlplace\SAT\Reports\etc
    orozcom

    orozcom,
    Are you running on a unix/linux server or a windows server?
    If you are running on a Linux or unix server, then I would look at SAMBA mapping and mounting the SAMBA drive to a mount point and then you can properly reference it.
    If you are running on Windows, you will need to go to underlying service in the services manager and change the running service from the system account to the Oracle NT account that has network privileges. Restart the service and then you can reference network drives from the database.
    Take caution and read your documentation, review security concerns, before changing the Oracle background service. I have done it before, but I do not know if it is supported of hand.
    Thanks,

  • Office 365 files won't open from network drive

    I can’t open any office  documents from a mapped network drive. I can however go to file explorer and go straight the server directory (\\servername\share) and open any document. As a workaround, I created a shortcut on the desktop that points
    to the share to allow the user to continue working.
    I have checked permission and added the path in Trust Center. I know it’s not the computer because I have logged in with other users and everything works fine. I have also logged into other computer with the user that is having the problem and again
    everything works. I'm convinced it some setting I'm missing within the user profile on the computer.
