Chnage pointers for a report

Hi,
I have a requirement where in I have to  modify all the  articles (MARC-MATNR)  which are specified in the selection screen of a report. This report would be running in back ground for every one hour. user would not be entering input in the selection screen, since report would be running as a bactch job. whenver the article is changed and new article is created my report has to get triggerred.But it does not mean that the program should be run at the very moment a new article is created or changed. It just means that program should  run for only those records which have undergone any of the below 4 changes  in the last 1 hour
( 1.Supply source field MARC-BWSCL is changed for a article
2.vendorEORD-LIFNR is changed for a article
3. new purchasing source list is added (EORD Records)  for a article.
4. new article is created).
Can anyone please tell me how to proceed with this requirement
Thanks in advance
Ram Devi

Another way is
Enable the change pointers for the 4 fields you mentioned for article master using transaction code SCDO.This will be create change pointer entreis in BDCPV tables
then
   CALL FUNCTION 'CHANGE_POINTERS_READ'
          EXPORTING
            message_type                = gc_message_type
            read_not_processed_pointers = 'X'
          TABLES
            change_pointers             = lt_chgptrs_tab.
if any values found you can run your report , then after that. then call the following fm to update the processed entreis in change pointer table to be marked as processed, so next time theses entries will not consider
          CALL FUNCTION 'CHANGE_POINTERS_STATUS_WRITE'
            EXPORTING
              message_type           = gc_message_type
            TABLES
              change_pointers_idents = gt_pointer_id.

    Hi,
    It was a good question ... SAP seems never designed the change pointer to handle transactional data IDocs. Only for master data IDocs distribution purposes.
    It may due to volume data ... the transactional data can change many times within a day compare with master data which hardly change or once a while.

    When you run the program, the system displays the following basic list with a the page header defined in the program:
    You can trigger the AT LINE-SELECTION event by double-clicking a line. The system sets the status TEST and deactivates the function code PICK. The status TEST contains function codes FC1 to FC5. These are assigned to pushbuttons in the application toolbar. The page header of the detail list depends on the status.
    Here, double-clicking a line no longer triggers an event. However, there is now an application toolbar containing five user-defined pushbuttons. You can use these to trigger the AT USER-COMMAND event. The CASE statement contains a different reaction for each pushbutton.
    For each interactive event, the system decreases the SY-LSIND system field by one, thus canceling out the automatic increase. All detail lists now have the same level as the basic list and thus overwrite it. While the detail list is being created, SY-LSIND still has the value 1.

  • Custom Filename for PDF Report

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to download pdf for a report. I provided the download action as a column link on the report. Clicking the link I direct to the URL for the custom report I created (f?p=&APP_ID.:0:&SESSION.:PRINT_REPORT= MyReport). Pdf gets downloaded with the name MyReport.pdf. But I need to provide a custom name for the downloaded pdf, it should be based on the Id value of the report column something like this Emp123.pdf where 123 is the employee Id (selected row's employee id value in my report).
    I searched in the forums and came across this thread APEX 3 PDF Report Export Custom Filename? but here its mentioned that
    " In this case there's no separate attribute for the file name. And we don't do substitutions on the report query name, so setting the name dynamically as you described in your sample, won't be possible. "
    Since the thread is a old one so posting a new one. Any pointers is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rakesh

    1. Call the report with utl_http.
    2. Store the output as a BLOB. Either local variable or store it in a table.
    3. Print the blob.
    Here is how you can print the blob and read the package spec for utl_http.

  • Suggestions For A Reporting System

    Hi,
    I'm currently working a nefty Swing application and was looking for ideas as to how to develop a robust, extensible reporting system. I would appreciate any all suggestions to make the whole system work as efficiently as possible, with little difficulties when it comes to adding new reports and all.
    Basically is here the structure I'm currently using:
    1. I have an abstract class called ReportNode which has the following basic structure:
    public abstract class ReportNode  {
         * Returns a List of Person objects which will be used to create the Report. This is the only
         * required method needs to be implemented by the report node subclasses. All other methods can be
         * overridden as required.
         * @return the List of Person objects to use for the report
        public abstract List<MemberData> getNodeData();
         * Returns a TableModel with the data to be displayed
         * @return a TableModel with the data to be displayed
        public TableModel getNodeDataModel() {
            return new DefaultTableModel();
        // with several other methods which can be overriden and as necessary
    }2. Each report is currently hard coded by extending the ReportNode object and overriding either one of the two methods stated to retrieve the required information which can then be displayed in a JTable, using a predefined TableModel (for the first method) or a the custom TableModel returned from the second.
    Now I want to move the code out the hard coded format since the reports are growing and I would like suggestions or pointers on some best practices that can help me get the results I need. That is, suggestions as to
    - what type of database structure can be set up that can make generating custom reports possible
    - or perhaps I should go with Stored Procedures instead and come with some table design that can be used to pick the required variables for the procedures
    - should I stick with the JTable reporting (works quite well for data presentation, but can be tricky when it comes to printing at times)
    - or I should switch completely to some of the standard reporting systems like Jasper Reports (I tried it but found it a bit cumbersome for a beginner)
    Any suggestions (however small) would be greatly appreciated.

    MGE certainly has a decent track record. Search the net for reviews of Liebert’s line as well.

  • Hardware capability for FIM Reporting

    I am doing some capacity planning for a FIM 2010 R2 deployment and trying to understand the hardware requirements for the Reporting feature. Based on the diagarm below, it looks like the performance is primarily driven by two factors: System
    Center and SQL. Even the performance of System Center depends on SQL. So it all comes down to SQL horsepower. The rest of the servers (FIM, SCSM, SCDW) may not need much muscle power (I might be wrong though). What is your experience when planning
    for Reporting? What kind of challenges one can experience? Btw, I have a userbase of 100K and the change rate (# of requests per day) I am expecting is about 6%. What kind of hardware capacity would you recommend?
    Thanks!

    To start with, the picture is indeed really great … but it’s missing (or not emphasizing enough) one important component – SCSM’s Service Manager database.
    As for the capacity question, we've seen the biggest impact/load on the SCCM databases, both Service Manager and Data Warehouse (mainly DWStagingAndConfig) – so yes, SQL is what
    drives all that. Also, we haven’t tried SP1 yet, so what we observed was still on SCCM 2010.
    Anyway, here are few pointers from our experience:
    1. SCSM Service Manager DBs and Data Warehouse DBs should be installed on different SQL instances (has to do with the nature of the DBs) and preferably on different SQL servers.
    And ideally separately from other FIM component DBs.
    2. SCSM Service Manager DB can easily grow over twice the size of your FIMService DB (with indexes taking a lot of space), and it’s transaction log can quickly reach crazy sizes
    especially during initial load. This is the experience from running it just for few months, it might change after longer usage.
    3. From SCSM Data Warehouse DBs the only one you need to worry about is the DWStagingAndConfig. In our environment size wise it was comparable to FIM Service DB, but the observed
    IO during ETL jobs was just crazy – I’ve seen graphs of it generating 300-400MB/s read IO on a 150GB DB for over 10h straight (with plenty of RAM on the SQL box).
    4. Overall it seems like latency to the DB files is one of the main factors driving performance of FIM Reporting (not to mention IO) – even to a point where SAN storage might
    not be the best option here. Like Tomasz wrote, we were looking at setting up both SCSM components on two dedicated physical servers with local SQL and DBs on SSD drives … but didn’t get that far yet.
    When I’m writing about FIM Reporting performance I’m referring to a number of individual changes (queued in the ExportLog table in the FIM Service DB) that can be extracted from
    FIM Service to Service Manager in an hour – initially we were able to process below 200k records per hour, and after several tweaks, SAN reconfiguration, etc, we were almost able to double it. There isn’t any average correlation between number of requests
    and number of entries in the ExportLog table, it all depends on type of changes and how many are a part of individual requests. To just to give you an idea, we observed 20M records that were added over a 7 day period (avg 120k per hour), during which the only
    activity on FIM Service were approximately 20k SSPR registrations – highly customized (with confirmation emails flying around and some custom attributes being set), but still just SSPR. As you can imagine, with that level of activity we needed to push the
    processing rate way over what we were seeing as FIM Reporting was barely being able to catch up in real time.
    I hope this will be at least a bit helpful

  • Change pointers for HR master data

    Hi I am trying to setup change pointers for HR Master data , in relation to HRMD_A06 idoc , I did all the steps for setting up change pointers.
    Transaction bd52 for my reduced IDOC shows 0 entries, When i did the same for customer master data , BD52 had some entries by itself .
    I can't produce any HRMD_A06 Idocs , What am i doing wrong? Should the entries in BD52 be added manually for all the fields i need?
    Any help is much appriciated.
    Sudheer

    Hi,
    guess it's not necessary to see some entries in bd52 (it's enough to activate in bd53).
    Do you have configured RBDMIDOC (otherwise no IDocs will get generated).
    Or you run t-code bd21 for testing. Standard way is to run the report RBDMIDOC in a periodic background job.
    A good description could be found here (p. 12):

    -B S B.

    Change pointers are getting stored in the tables BDCP and BDCPS. As SAP suggests these tables should be as small as possible. And Master data are not much frequently changed data.
    As you compare with the transactional data, you need to change them many times in the real scenario. If we also process the transaction data via chnage pointer, these changes BDCP is getting more and more entries.
    RBDCPCLR is the program used to process the change pointer. If you have much data in the BDCP table, this program will take much time to run.
    So, we use the change pointers for the master data only.

  • Change Pointers for Infotypes - HR Master Data distribution

    Hi,
    I want to distribute HR infotypes Master Data to other systems...
    How do I activate Change pointers for HR infotypes?
    Do I have to use idoc HRMD_A or HRMD_B?
    Do I have to distribute thru PFAL transaction?
    Can I do that a employee change the data of an infotype send the idoc authomaticly?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.
    Urtzi.

    Thanks Roman,
    I've looking also for idoc HRMD_ABA. What is the diference between HRDM_ABA and HRMD_A?
    When I press SAVE in PA20 doing changes in an employee system distributes authomatically HRMD_ABA but not HRMD_A. Is it correct?
    So, if that is correct could I say the following:
    - To distribute HRDM_A we can use report RBDMIDOC scheduleing periodic JOB.
    - iDoc HRDM_ABA is distributed when saving data in standard transactions.
    Is that correct?

  • Change Pointers for the fields PERNR, GBDAT and PERID

    Hi,

    Hi Suresh,
                   I didn't get your point exactly. With this report, we can only Log the Changes that has been performed on a Particular Pernr or an Infotype. Actually, if see go through my Previous Post, you will get Clear Idea. Actually, I'm looking for the Concept below:
    Actually, I'm using the Standard ALE Process for Masking Master Data fields (PERID and GBDAT) with default values from one system to another using the Message Type, HRMD_A (which will be used as a Standard Message Type for HR Personnel Administration and Organizational Management). For this, I' have used two Conversion Rules in the above Message Type. To make this ALE trigger, I have to Run the Report, RBDMIDOC. But, before trigerring the ALE for all the Employees in the System, I want to test the ALE for few Employees, whether it is working properly or not. For this, I think, I need to delete the Change Pointers for all the Employees except for the few Employees whom I want to Test. But, I don't have any idea, how to delete those Change Pointers. Please guide me some solution or provide me some document where I can find exact procedure for doing this. Guide me, If I'm going in wrong procedure.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Change Pointers for Vendor Master

    Hi All,
    I have to activate change pointers for Vendor Master data. I have some doubts regarding the same.
    1. An Idoc will be generated for newly created vendor, right?
    2. If I extend the vendor master IDOC, where should I write code to extract the values of newly added fields?
    3. If I create a custom IDOC for vendor master, what is the procedure to configure this in the change pointers for Vendor Master?
    Thanks & Best Regards,

    Hi,
    1. Afer doing all the settings required to create change pointers (BD61, BD50, BD52), the idocs will be created when u run the report RBDMIDOC or execute transaction BD21.if any changes happen in master data
    like new vendor is created or vendor data is changed, then only change pointers will be created and on executing the aforesaid report, idocs will be generated.
    Also idocs can be generated by replicating vendor data through transaction BD14 or any other custom transaction.
    2. When you add custom segments to basic type, you have to write code in suitable user exits.
    Identify suitable user exit to populate data in custom segments and write the code in oubound side.
    Identify suitable user exit to populate the values in custom segments to database table, this code is to be written in inbound side.

  • How to Save Multiple Variants for a Report at a time?

    Hi Experts,
    I have a report in one server and I have copied the same into another server.
    And now I also have to copy the variants of that report.

    Could you please provide details information below to help us better understanding your requirements, thus we will be more effective to provide an solution:
    What is the format of the period date you want to get, is this date in the DB and you want to filter it based on the month and the given Date?
    Did the month and given date are two parameters in the report? if possible, could you please provide some sample data in the DB and also the snapshot of the report structure
    I assume you want to get the period date(mm/dd/yyy) between the select month(e.g:Feb) and the given date (10/1/2014) and you should get the date between(02/01/2014-10/1/2014).
    If so,and you also have two parameter "Month","EndDate"(EndDate is the given date), please reference to details information below:
    You can create an new parameter "BeginDate" (Date/Time) which is the begin date of the period, you can use the expression to get the value based on the value of the month and the year value from the given date,finally hide this parameter:
    Specify the available value:
    Label:=Parameters!Month.Value &"/01/"& DatePart("yyyy",Parameters!EndDate.Value)
    Value:=CDate(=Parameters!Month.Value &"/01/"& DatePart("yyyy",Parameters!EndDate.Value))
    Specify the default Value:
    Value:=CDate(=Parameters!Month.Value &"/01/"& DatePart("yyyy",Parameters!EndDate.Value))
    Add filter to the dataset as below:
    Preview you will get all the date in the given Period:
    If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

  • Checkboxes in BI Publisher not showing up for all reports

    Hi everyone,
    I followed the instructions (uploading fonts, checking the checkbox font property e.t.c) for displaying checkboxes (without the diamond shape) in my BI Publisher reports. It worked for 1 report and still does. Unfortunately the new reports I have uploaded still display the diamond shape. I find this very odd even though followed exactly the same process for all of my reports.
    Is there a way to make sure that checkboxes display properly for all reports? Could there be a mistake I have made and that I am missing out on. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

    Have you set the properties as per
    http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2007/05/wherere_my_checkboxes.html
    especially
    1. The font location, we need to tell the publisher engine where the Wingdings font is located:
    <font family="Wingdings" style="normal" weight="normal">
    <truetype path="c:\windows\fonts\wingding.ttf"/>
    </font>
    2. The glyphs to be used. Here we specify the font family name ie 'Wingdings' and the 253/254 glyphs
    <property name="rtf-checkbox-glyph">Wingdings;253;254</property>
    Do ensure that you use the same glyph character codes defined in ur config and RTF
