Choosing Different parsing schema

Hi,
I have 2 application using the one parsing schema (sch1)
Now I want to create one another application, I would like to choose a different schema as parsing shcema (sch2),
is this possible? it is not allowing me or it is not listing in the list box.

Hi,
Yes this is possible, you will need to assign schema sch2 to the workspace. You can do this in the APEX Admin app under Manage Workspaces 'Manager Workspace to Schema Assignments'. Then back in the Apex builder edit the Application definition and change the Parsing Schema to sch2.

  • App needs to run on multiple DBs; can parsing schema/ ref owner be dynamic?

I have an app that needs to run on multiple databases. Is there a way to create something like an app-level item -- something that only needs to be set once -- that can be referenced to specify the parsing schema, and all of the instances of "reference table owner" used to specify the source for DML? Or (I've not tried this yet) can I just NOT set the value of reference table owner? In my case, the reference table owner for all tables is the same as the parsing schema.
    Thanks,
    Carol

hi Varad -- I should have been more specific. The application does not need to access multiple databases; rather, it will be installed on multiple databases, operating only on the DB on which it's installed. (Same functionality on each DB, same DB schemas in each, different data in each.)
So, I'm wondering if there is a way to have the parsing schema somehow be set automatically based on information in the database, or if I'll have to create a slightly different version of the app, w/ different parsing schemas, for each database.
It was recommended to me (perhaps by you, I can't recall) that the parsing schema be the same as the owner of the tables that the app accesses; the table owner is different in each of these databases, so that is the source of this problem (if indeed it is a problem).
    Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Carol

  • Parsing Schema, Remote Database

    Hi,
[1]During application creation we encounter screens where we are to select table/view ...there we also have a combo-box ...Parsing Schema ... I always see one option available ..the user I am logged-in. As the field is a combo...I guess we could have many listed in that combo? How?
[2]Is it possible to include pages that fetch data from a different database (rather than the one on which we have ApEx installed) ... I guess one method would be to use dblinks ....can we do it from non-Oracle databases?
    Thanks

    Devang,
Your first question is impossible to parse with all the embedded ellipses. Let me guess at an answer that might help: In various wizards you see comboboxes with schemas to choose from. This list includes the current application's parsing schema and all schemas that have granted select privilege on at least one table or view to the parsing schema.
The answer to question 2 is yes, use database links. For non-Oracle sources see the literature on Heterogenous Services.

  • HOW TO have LOV display values from a table not contained in parsing schema

I am using DAD to log in and have been able to get around the problems associated with the login schema being different than the parsing schema. However, I want to have a list of values to be shown to the user based on a table in the DAD schema that they log into rather than the parsing schema.
Anyone know how this might be done?

    GOT IT:
    RETURN 'select xxxxxxx' does it

  • Can multiple APEX application use the same parsing schema?

    Hi,
I have 4.2 APEX thru pl/sql Gatewat, 11gr2 DB and using theme 24.
Due to the APEX limitation for version control I would be splitting 1 big ERP applications into 24 different APEX applications and each application would be considered as 1 unit for version control.
I have about 800 tables and I would assume that all of these would need to be stored in 1 schema since a lot of these table are linked thru FK.
Can I have multiple APEX APPS using the same parsing schema? or is there a better way to do this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Multiple applications can have same (one) parsing schema.
You can test that on e.g. apex.oracle.com, where normally you have only one schema and you create multiple applications and all use that same schema.

  • Import Data Table from Different DB Schema in BI Administration

    Here is my scenario:
Tables are imported from different DB schema in Administration. They are then joined together.
When I select fields from more than one schema in BI Answer, incorrect result is returned.
Below is the SQL it returns:

It seems that query has been seperated into two, and doesn't have relationship between each others.
However, I also tested the same situation in other environment, and it returns correct result. I found that the query hasn't been seperated into two, but one. The query is as below:

This query returns correct result and seems reasonable.
Assume that the setup in BI Administration is the same for both environment, why the first situation returns query that are separated?

I have made the same remark but not with two different environment and same design.
What can influence the construction of two queries ?
    Here some ideas :
    - if you have of course two connections pools (I assume not)
    - if in our database features (double click on the icon and choose the tab feature), full outer join is not supported
But I have this two requirement on my laptop and I can see that I have also two sql fired.
What you can do is to make a comparison of your two repository.
    In the administration tool, File/Compare.
The result will be very interesting.

inside the project BPEL folder is works, the issue is in production enviornment all this xsd will come from one shared folder so I am
confused how to achieve this i.e. without copying all the XSD into the project BPEL folder refer it from one shared foler which is outside
    of the project.

You can enable WebDav on the Oracle HTTP Server component.
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/htdocs/dav_public
    mkdir Schemas
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/oradav/conf
open the moddav.conf file for editing. Find the entry for the dav_public directory and modify as follows:
    <Location /dav_public>
    DAV on
    </Location>
    Restart the server
Now the Schema can be accessed using the URL http://soahost:port/dav_public/Schemas/abc.xsd
This way you can share the common xsd among different BPELProcesses.

  • Using different db schema

Hi, I've been developing an adf/bc web application for a couple months and now am wondering how much time and effort it will be if i decide to run the application against a different database schema. The "new" schema will have the same structures (tables, views, etc..) as the one i'm currently developing against. Is this an easy thing to accomplish, or are there many files which would need to be touched/updated? Thanks, Jammer.

Yes, it would be a problem. I guess it depends upon how your application is constructed. Your entity objects can be re-pointed quite easilly (asuming the column names are the same) by double-clicking the EO and choosing the correct table/view. If all of your View Objects use EO's, then perhaps there should be nothing else to do. If you have any expert mode VO's or read-only VO's with hand-written SQL queries, you'd need to update them yourself. That should take care of the stock business components.
If you've written any code anywhere (perhaps in your Application Module) that referenced object names, you'd need to change it there.
If this is a one-time event, I'd just bite the bullet and make the changes.
    Hope this helps,
    John

  • Invalid parsing schema for current workspace ID

I have an application that captures different SQL statements (they make use of DB links) and dynamically executes them on demand.
I use apex collections to get the result rows for the SQL and use them to both query on the UI as well as send out emails using the returned data. This is all OK and works fine.
I then added another feature to my application where I support the scheduling of the running the SQL / sending out of the emails. It uses the same logic as I use from within the application but it fails with the following error ...
Invalid parsing schema for current workspace ID
when the SQL is being used to populate the collection.
The scheduling is done using the apex plsql job scheduling package. It's as though the context that the job is running in is different from that of the application I created. The strange thing is that it can still see my tables that I created as the queries return data from my tables but for some reason seems to have an issue with the use of apex collections.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Scott,
Today the error mentioned in the last post occurred 3 times - the highest number in a single day yet. Also, to add to the dilemma, a new one occurred:
    ORA-20104: create_collection_from_query_b Error:ORA-20101: Application collection exists
Knowing that the create collection process is called from a post authentication process I don't see how that the collection could exist for that session... Any ideas?

  • Change Parsing Schema dynamically?

    Hi,
This is a really interesting question, really!
How do I change the default parsing schema automatically. Is this possible at all.
I'm thinking of changaing the OWNER in my authentication function. Will this work if I want to set the schema name in the login page and let the user choose his schema from a drop-down list.
What will the code has to look like?
    Thanks in advance!

    Sabiha,
    I understand now, my apologies.
You may try and enter a query like:
    select * from &SCHEMA..EMP
which probably imports fine and even works correctly at runtime. But when you try to edit this, you probably get an error like "Query cannot be parsed, please check the syntax of your query. (ORA-00903: invalid table name)"
This works at runtime because there is an application substitution string called SCHEMA. But at design time, there is no substitution string or session state value called SCHEMA in application 4000 (the application builder). I don't regard this as a bug, though, because substitution of session state and strings is working as expected. You're trying to reference at design time something which typically would only be used in the context of runtime.
In answer to your question and Branimir's question, nothing comes to mind how someone could programatically alter the parsing schema of an application at runtime. One idea, although this only helps you with reports and not much else, is to create your reports based upon a function returning SQL query. Then, you could write your own package and qualify the table owner with whatever you wish.

  • Change parsing schema

    Hello.
Is it possible to change parsing schema of apex application on the fly? In Oracle Forms applications we could do that...
    Thanks for any answers.

    Hi Almir,
I assume by your comment about generic Oracle Forms, that the different schemas have identical structure but differing data. If this is the case I would see three options.
    1. As already mentioned in this thread, make grants to the parsing schema which is probably an empty schema used only to tie the other schemas together and then prefix all table/view references with a schema name, the only thing that I would add is that the schema name should be referenced through and application variable, rather than hard coded, which is set on login and can be changed as required.
    2. You could have a separate copy of the application to go with each parsing schema and then have a controlling entry application which directs the user to the correct application.
    3. You could roll all the separate schemas into one schema. With the particular tables that have differing data (reference tables proabably same data) you can have an extra column that defines the ownership of the data and then use the Virtual Private Database feature to separate the users views of the data.
All these options have advantages and disadvantages, but I would prefer option 3 as its the most flexible option and probably the most correct, provided it is possible to re-engineer the underlying schemas to such a degree.

  • APEX Workspace Parsing Schema

Can I give the parsing schema of the Workspace as a Schema existing in a Remote Database(while creating a workspace) . If yes, how can i do that?
The goal is to point the application in a database to a schema in another database.
    Thanks
    Maheshkumar

    Hi Maheshkumar,
Not really, there are many methods to share data between different systems, but if you are using two Oracle database instances that can easily connect across a network, then DB links are probably the easiest method, depending on your needs.
What exactly are you trying to achieve?

  • I do not see where to enter IP addresses in the Open VPN setup. Also, how can I set it up so that I can choose different servers in the same way as I can currently choose them with my VPN app but for PPTP?

I think I have it working on my iPhone 5. But, I do not see how I can control the exit point that I would like for the VPN. Are all the exit points shown in the VPN setting now going to work with Open VPN, or do they remain PPTP? If I am reading correctly, they look like they remain PPTP. If I cannot control the exit point for open VPN, which exit point is the default in the profile you provided me?I note that Open VPN Connect does not work with any of the new 64 bit devices like the iPhone 5S, the iPad Air, and the new iPad MIni. Is there any chance that you guys will come up with an update for your app so that open VPN can be made to work on all iOS devices? That would be nice, particularly if the Open VPN Connect app does not give me a choice of exit points. Thanks,
I do not see where to enter IP addresses in the Open VPN setup. Also, how can I set it up so that I can choose different servers in the same way as I can currently choose them with my VPN app but for PPTP?
Just a quick note to tell you that Open VPN has updated their app so that it is compatible with 64 bit ARM devices like the iPhone 5S, the iPad Air, and the iPad Mini Retina. That does not resolve the problem of how to easily choose among the various possibilities for the exit server. We need to find an easy way to choose.

Thank you for trying the new Firefox. I'm sorry that you’re unhappy with the new design.
I understand your frustration and surprise at the removal of these features but I can't undo these changes. I'm just a support volunteer and I do not work for Mozilla.
