HI,
I guess for every redirect command uses a vty session and thats why we might see this issue. I had a look at the logs again.
I see lots of SA Miss which is nothing but increase Source Address Miss. Have you verified if there are any topology changes(show spanning-tree detail | in ieee|exec|from|occurred)

Cisco 4500 High CPU-GaliosObflFilesys process
Hi All,
We are using Cisco 4510R-E Switch with 2 WS-X45-SUP6-E in SSO.
The IOS which running on Chassis: cat4500e-ipbasek9-mz.122-54.SG1.bin
From past 3-4 Days we are observing High CPU in this chassis and the process which is consuming maximum CPU is GaliosObflFilesys process.
The output is here:

We got one Bug CSCsv17545 which is not hitting in our case since it is resolved 12.2(54)SG1.
Wanted to know whether it is Software issue or hardware and how to isolate the same.Hi Rizwan,
Here, as per observation, Software is unable to recover these error messages (As the HW Index and ErrAddress in these errors are common) or SUP Engine is having Hardware problem (Since the Errors are collected on Active SUP Engine only). We have to isolate this issue by below method.
Remove the SUP & Reinsert it again / if you have spare SUP then replace Active SUP Engin
If same errors observed, we need to upgrade the Image & if not then need to replace the SUP Engine.
In our case, issue got resolved after removing and reinserting the SUP Engine.
CPU was normal too.
Additionally, you can enable Bootup level complete, so that HW issue of Active SUP can be tackled during Bootup only & then you can remove the Active SUP Engine.

Cisco asa high cpu - 90% -100%
Hi All,
Recently observed constant high cpu in asa firewall with version 8.2.5 - 80% utilization. The process consuming more cpu is - tmatch compile thread around 60%. Do you recommend downgrade to 8.2.3 or is it an opened bug in the current version 8.2.5 BugID - CSCtw75734
regards
SecITWe do have multiple object groups. By getting the number of access list elements, you mean to say that if the number of access-list elements are huge, the higher the cpu and memory utilization. Actually similar issue i have faced few months ago in pix firewall, where the cpu/mem went high due to too many no. of acl elemtents. Hence i reduced it by deleting the object groups and no. of access elements. I though in ASA it is different and there is no restriction like no. of objects and no. of acl entries.

Cisco 3750 High CPU troubleshooting
I am trying to make myself familiar with troubleshooting on the Cat 3750 platform and I've come across the theory of how the CPU works. Here are a few points.
CPU has 16 queuesDepth of CPU Qs cannot be modified
Each queue reserves buffering for specific packet typeThe HW (eg: the port asic) will drop on queue congestion
Overload on one CPU Queue should not affect other Queues
A lot of packets in a specific queue may be normal.
I also got the output of the command "show controllers cpu-interface" which shows the number of packets hitting each queue. What the document did not explain (maybe because its proprietory).
Are these queues like our QOS queues where specific amount of resources are allotted to each queues.
Thanks in Advance !!!
Regards
UmeshWe have upgraded to version c3750e-universalk9-mz.150-2.SE7.bin but even after upgrade we are facing same issue.
I repeat: The most stable IOS for the 3650X/3750X is 12(55)SE10.
Any abnormalities you found in log..??
I did not see anything useful with the files attached. -

Suggestions are welcomeHello,
NMS is probably not the right community to t/s this. You probably want to move this to Security group (Security > Firewalling).
In the meanwhile, i have some details to share for you to check, though i am not a security/ASA expert.
The Dispatch Unit is a process that continually runs on single-core ASAs (models 5505, 5510, 5520, 5540, 5550). The Dispatch Unit takes packets off of the interface driver and passes them to the ASA SoftNP for further processing; it also performs the reverse process.
To determine if the Dispatch Unit process is utilizing the majority of the CPU time, use the command show cpu usage and show process cpu-usage sorted non-zero
show cpu usage (and show cpu usage detail) will show the usage of the ASA CPU cores:
ASA# show cpu usage
CPU utilization for 5 seconds = 0%; 1 minute: 1%; 5 minutes: 0%
show process cpu-usage sorted non-zero will display a sorted list of processes that are using the CPU usage.
In the example below, the Dispatch Unit process has used 50 percent of the CPU for the last 5 seconds:
ASA# show process cpu-usage sorted non-zero
0x0827e731 0xc85c5bf4 50.5% 50.4% 50.3% Dispatch Unit
0x0888d0dc 0xc85b76b4 2.3% 5.3% 5.5% esw_stats
0x090b0155 0xc859ae40 1.5% 0.4% 0.1% ssh
0x0878d2de 0xc85b22c8 0.1% 0.1% 0.1% ARP Thread
0x088c8ad5 0xc85b1268 0.1% 0.1% 0.1% MFIB
0x08cdd5cc 0xc85b4fd0 0.1% 0.1% 0.1% update_cpu_usage
If Dispatch Unit is listed as a top consumer of CPU usage, then use this document to narrow down what might be causing the Dispatch Unit process to be so active.
Most cases of high CPU utilization occur because the Dispatch Unit process is high. Common causes of high utilization include:
Oversubscription
Routing loops
Host with a high number of connections
Excessive system logs
Unequal traffic distribution
More t/s details can be shared by the ASA members from the community.

Hi all,
I'm having high CPU usage with one of my Cisco 3845.
It works as an IP-IP Gateway and the CPU is quite high when the total number of calls only around 100-200 calls.
I check the CPU usage with "show process cpu sort" and it looks like there are some "hidden" processes that consuming CPU.
For example, 41% is total CPU, 25% is due to interrups, so CPU utilization on process level = 41 - 25 = 16%.
But as showed below, processes don't consume that much CPU, only around 7% ???
Please help to advise on this case. Any help is highly appreciated..
Thank you.

You may want to download Glary Utilities, which is a free software(they will ask you if you want to go Pro, just say no, the free version works very well). There is a module for startup manager. You can go in and disable stuff that starts with the computer. I would advise unchecking adobe, java, quicktime, printers, etc. Anything that doesn't REALLY need to start with the computer. The nice thing with Glary is that you can restart the computer, and if you find that you need one of the programs to start with windows, you can go back in and enable it again.
The Celeron 925 processor in your computer is a decent entry level processor, but if there are too many programs running in the background, it can bog down quick. I would also recommend downloading and running Malwarebytes Anti-malware, to be sure that there is nothing malicous running in the background.

High CPU usage in cisco 7613 with rsp720-3cxl
Hi everybody,
our cisco 7613 has about 4.5 Gbps Tx/Rx IP traffic in total, and we run ospf with other cisco cloud for routing I list in the following some our router show.what is your idea about our high cpu usage .Is it in normal range with the listed cards and modules. How can I tune the rsp720 and other SIP-200,400,600 for better performances
why our interrupt rate is high ,and one thing more the total sum of 5sec in separate rows not equal to cpu utilization for five second 50%

High cpu - Rate-limit cisco 6500
Hello,
my device is cisco 6509.
Explanation of the case:
Received to interface vlan (L3) 600M traffic (configured with Rate limit - 50 M).
Result :
1. 100 % cpu
2. the traffic was limited to 50M
How can I prevent High Cpu in this situation ?
Thanks.I would suggest opening a case, or asking in a different forum. This form is for discussion about existing bugs for which a bugid has been identified.

Hi,
We have Cisco 4507R-E and we see a high CPU even at nights when there is no much more traffic on the switch.
Here are the some cpu cpmmand outputs.

I cannot find anything about the process K5L3Unicast Adj Tabl on yhe internet.Hi
The platform-process “K5L3Unicast Adj Tabl”, that causes the high CPU usage is a platform-process that is active when a new MAC address has been learned and the adjacency table is rewritten. This takes place when in the switch receives an unknown source MAC address, it’s forwarded to the CPU for MAC address learning.
It could be possible to have a device connected to a switch port sending lots of MAC address randomly and massively forcing the switch to spend all CPU capacity just to process the new MAC addresses.
So next step is check the interface statistics looking for the highest traffic rate. Use this link below in order to troubleshoot this issue and find the top offender interface.

High CPU utilization in cisco 6509E
I am facing a issue with CISCO 6509E switch with high CPU utilization. it reaches to 65%-70% which usually reaches 20 to 30%.
Hi
Your High CPU is due to interrupts, see 65% alone due to interrupts out of 89%.
Also, see last 72 hours CPU history, CPU always between 50-70%.

Our cisco 7206G2 BRAS have High CPU usage!!
Hi All,
i have high cpu utalization 70% usage with my BRAS 7206 while the online PPPoVPDN customers not more than 1200 online concurrent sessions
i revised the configuration but i coudn't found the cause of problem.
i monitord that when i tried to traceroute from ADSL client router any of the servers ip address behind servers network , it seems the packet go out through DEFAULT-ROUTE route map which results the following:

Packet drops and High CPU on Cisco 3845 Switch
Hello Experts,
We are facing a lot of packet drops in our LAN.
When we try to ping one of the access switches from the CE router, we get the follwoing output:
pdel1799#ping 10.132.136.17 so 10.132.164.1 si 100 re 500
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 500, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.132.136.17, timeout is 2 seconds:
Packet sent with a source address of 10.132.164.1
Success rate is 98 percent (491/500), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/9/44 ms
pdel1799#
Success rate is 98 percent (491/500), round-trip min/avg/max = 1/9/44 ms
pdel1799#
Some command outputs and show tech of all switches attached from the customer which I have attached.
I have also attached a diagram but the only router''s IP address is correct in the diagram while IP address of switches in the diagram are incorrect. Here are the correct IPs of the switches:
Core Switch : 10.132.139.2
Access Switches:
10.132.136.17
10.132.136.18
10.132.136.29
Apart from packet drops on VLAN 1 we are seeing high CPU utilization on core switch
ingur-msl-coresw#sh processes cpu sorted | ex 0.0

Getting High cpu in s720 due to snmp(Prime)
Hi Team,
We are getting high cpu Spike in our all distribution switches in many locations.
Also we found our Cisco prime infrastructure causing the high cpu.but the spike only for 20 to 30 seconds.
If we deny the PI there will be no CPU spike..
Is there any troubleshooting or configuration need to done for this issue..but we are getting in all our sites due to this in different cpu process I'd ..
Affected sup like 720 but in core we are not getting that issue with same sup and ios.
Kindly suggest any action plan regarding the high cpu due to the High cpu due to snmp..
Regards,
ArunHi Afroj,

Dear All
I have 7200 router, it was runing 124-4.XD3 IOS, the CPU was working normal avarage around 15%, its use for L2TP users, it was have avarage 2000 concurrent L2TP connection, there was no CPU consuming.
Then for business plan we change the IOS to 12.2(33)SR and configured Broadband aggregation, after that the CPU become higher day after day even the PPPoE and L2TP session not more than 900 concurrent. the CPU reach 60%, even in non-peak hours it reach 50%

QaesHi There,
Just want to share a tip on ow to filter your CPU utilisation on your Cisco router. I find alias commands handy and use them all the time. From the config mode, you can type as below.
R(config)#alias exec cpu sho process cpu sorted | exc 0.00%__0.00%__0.00%
This will create an alias called cpu, from priviledge mode, you can then type cpu and it will filter all process' that are not consuming the CPU, this is done with the help of exc [exclude]. This excludes all process' with 0% utilisation.
Below is my example on one of my routers.
Thanks,
Faraimd
